It's the people! Somehow they are able to hire people who care about the interests of their customers. From the contracted Optometrist to the people who help you choose what you want. I couldn't find what I liked bc of my nose ridge and I do like round glasses. Did this stop anyone there? They knew where everything was hidden!! They dug into drawers! Found the one round pair in the store. I take my 95 year old dad there. They are so kind. If they charged a bit more for the exam and I think it was comparable anyway. I brought my 92-year-old Grandmother here for her first eye exam in over a decade. Every employee we encountered was patient and genuinely helpful. My Grandmother is not the easiest to please, but we walked away happy with the service provided. The female doctor (I wish I remembered her name!!) was especially kind during the eye exam. She treated my Grandmother the way I'd expect her to treat her own elderly Grandmother. I'm grateful for her patient bedside manner. Unfortunately, we did not order glasses/frames here during our visit simply because my Grandmother is too picky and doesn't make decisions quickly. She insisted on "sleeping on it," rather than go with the frames we originally agreed upon. I do hope she decides to get new glasses here, because a decade old prescription just doesn't cut it anymore! Thank you for making us feel at ease during the whole process. I had a great experience! Service was fast and friendly, the exam was thorough with all questions answered, and I wound up spending under $400 for two sets of glasses and a year's worth of contacts. (For reference, my prescription is intense and I always get antiscratch and antiglare and UV protection. So typically I spend around $1000 for one set of glasses and a half year's worth of contacts.) Adam was helpful in picking out frames and made sure I took advantage of as much of my insurance benefit as possible, which I appreciate. Didn't feel rushed at all. Dr. Thimesch was very patient and made sure my contacts were fitted right and offered different solution options if my eyes reacted to the sample she gave me. Literally, 'If your eyes get irritated at day 3 or 4, come back in and we'll give you another type of solution.' Wish I'd gotten everyone's names as they were all helpful. BUYER BEWARE! Kids aged 14-17 automatically charged DOUBLE. I brought my teenager into the store to replace broken glasses. She chose 2 pairs of frames, lenses included (or so the sign says) for $100. The employee enters everything, tells me my total is $200. I ask why and I'm told kids under 18 are required to have polycarbonate lenses and they are an additional $100. I mention the sign that says lenses included and I'm told that's for regular lenses. I reply that I want regular lenses and she again states 'company policy' and the polycarb lenses are included in the price for 13 and under, but are required AND have an additional charge for 14-17. I'm in a bind. I need the glasses quickly. I pay $200 because that's still less expensive than many other places, but this is absolutely false advertising. When I picked them up, they stated 'company policy' again, but could show me nothing in writing. So, this additional $100 is ONLY required for kids age 14-17. Under 14, it's included in the 'frames and lenses price' and over 18, it's optional. Will be filing complaint with BBB and AG. read more

As an uninsured adult who wasn't blessed with the privilege of waking up and seein' FO FREE each day, this place and the technician I was lucky enough to be assigned to - Hunter - are both very much appreciated. I live nearly half an hour away and it was worth the drive. I've worn glasses for just over twenty years, and have never crossed paths with a deal as sweet as TWO pair for less than a hundred bucks. You can switch 'em up, or save one for a back up! Usually my back up pair is the last pair I broke, and is taped together, Harry Potter style. Hunter was polite, knowledgeable and was able to send me out the door, same day, less than an hour later with two beautiful pair of glasses...and relieving my boyfriend of his seeing eye person duties. If you're broke, blind, and are looking (REALLY looking, you know like straining your eyes) for an affordable option for stylish glasses, here ya go. Also, there's a chill bar in the same little plaza were you can grab some wings and beer while you wait for your glasses prescription to be finished. I called ahead to see about getting frames for my son had the prescription. The lady on the phone sounded excited said to come in we close at 7. Get there waited in the lobby for about 30 minutes no one said anything just looked at us. My son had time to pick out frames he liked. Then we stood in the middle of the lobby still no one said a word to us. A couple came in after us, one of the optimist came out from the back to greeted them and had a lengthily conversation I'm assuming they just knew each other, but still no comment to us. We then saw Ariana who assisted us with our glasses she gave us open and honest opinions on the frames. She wanted us to look good and also made sure we paid for what we needed and didn't force us into upgrades if it wasn't necessary. I came in with a new prescription for my first time getting glasses since having LASIK many years ago. Although I wasn't greeted by anyone I was trying on glasses on my own for a while until Adam came over to help me. He apologized for the lack of help from the employees and was attentive for the rest of my visit. With his help, I was able to have 2 pairs of glasses ready for me the next day and I felt much better walking out then I did when I first arrived. My trip to Eyeglass World symbolized yet another stage in my life - my first pair of glasses. If I was in my 20's, I probably would have been bitter and requesting contacts. But, since I am not, I was excited to finally join the masses and get my first pair of glasses. Specifically, reading glasses for work. Eyeglass World had a lot of eye glasses. It also had a lot of mirrors. I had a blast trying on and critiquing frames. After a bit, I had six considerations, so I brought them up to the front desk to get some professional opinions. And this where I will say, THANK GOODNESS FOR MARY. If you go to Eyeglass Word, make sure you talk to Mary. She has been working in the eyeglass field for her entire life and she looked at my pile of glasses in horror. She picked up the first pair and said, "You are so pretty, why do you want granny glasses?" I jumped back. "No! I don't want granny glasses!!" She picked up the next pair. "These are also something you would see on an old lady." She picked up the next pair. "Slightly better," she said. "This is something you would see on an old lady trying to look cool." And while the truth can be harsh, the fact is, I have horrible taste in glasses and should never be allowed to purchase eye glasses without supervision. If Mary did not care, I would have walked out with the same pair my 82 year old grandma wears as she falls asleep on the couch while watching reruns of Lawrence Welk. Mary bravely took control and directed me to the frames that I had completely ignored - the kid frames. These frames fit my narrow face better, come in the fun colors that I wanted, and were half the price. Mary opened up a cabinet below and started taking out even more glasses. She held them up one by one, and handed them to me if they won her approval. With her help, I purchased a great pair of purple ray-bans that were covered by insurance and guaranteed to be nothing my grandma would wear. The rest of my experience was easy and fast. I also got my glasses the same day. They were molded to fit my face. They are everything I every wanted in a pair of glasses. And the text I am typing is remarkably sharp right now. Today I got to my appointment only to be told that since I didn't answer their ONE phone call to confirm yesterday, that they had given it away. No voice mail and no text was sent to my phone by them. They made ZERO effort to squeeze me in even after telling them I had to find a way to leave my 2 small children at home so I could come to the appointment on my own. I made the appointment at a time that my 2 year old would be napping so my husband could give my 4 year old a screen while he worked and I went to my appointment. I have 1 set of contacts left. If you are going to cancel an appointment someone made because they didn't confirm it, maybe let customers know that before they make the effort to be there. Honestly, LIVID. Finding a new eye doctor that's not a big box store asap. I will say their one saving grace is their office manager. She was completely professional and kind. read more

I wish there was an option for 0 stars, because I would select it. I was in to pick up a copy of my prescription. I had previously come in two weeks prior for the same reason. The first time I came in I spoke to John who was very nice and helpful. He told me he couldn't find my records but let me know he would call when he did. He left me a voicemail the next day telling me he found them, and that they expired that same day. He told me there was no issue he could still mail them or leave a copy for me since i originally went in before they expired. Now two weeks later, I am available to pick up my prescription and my girlfriend took me. From the get go, the lady who "helped" us was rude. She did not even try to assist us or express friendliness that one would expect as customer service. Her tone, her body language and her responses made us feel uncomfortable and like we were a bother. We attempted to explain to her several times that John left me a voicemail explaining he could help me. She had the prescription in her hands but refused to give me my copy. When my girlfriend politely asked her to let her know when John would be in, she told us his schedule and said if he wanted to help us, he'd be willing to break the law, but she won't. We were polite and grateful to her for what she could do, but she kept saying things that made us uncomfortable and were completely unnecessary. We did not get her name but she wears glasses, a pentagram pendant, and wears a leather belt or holster around her waist. This was definitely not the service I expected after having to return for a second time when it's not even my fault.. Not to mention, as we were waiting to be helped, we saw her talking rudely to a lady who clearly didn't speak English as her first language. The sign at the door says "HABLAMOS ESPAÑOL" and once again she failed to provide any sort of customer service. The lady was there with her two children, obviously overwhelmed and the employee expressed frustration whenever speaking to her. I've been going here since I was 11 years old.... Definitely not going to be returning to Eyeglass World ever again. read more

I have been coming to this store for 17 years. Recently, I moved an hour east and tried to go to Nationwide Vision to supply my needs. I received horrible customer service AND when they got my prescription wrong they told me that it wasn't wrong and my eyes just needed to adjust. I came back here and received BETTER deals and the CORRECT prescription. I highly recommend this shop. So much I drive an hour into town just to get the great service. Super irritated! After calling to verify my insurance and to specifically ask how much out of pocket would cost, I was told that I would only have to pay $20. Great I said and made an appointment for a couple days later. Not only did the exam cost an additional $40 due to the "type of eyes I have" or whatever that means, I ended up not getting any contacts because those were going to cost an extra $70 on top of the $60 I already had to pay. I said I needed at least one pair today. I use polycarbonate lens and wasn't sure if they had it in stock for my prescription. Well they had the lens in stock and said my glasses will be ready today. I have not been to place where everyone was so helpful and friendly. I now know where I can bring my family in everytime. Myself and 3 of my children went to eyeglass world in Fort wayne on Coliseum today around 4:30pm as a walk in. We were all able to find glasses that fit our individual styles. The staff were amazing; very friendly and helpful. My eye insurance is awful and Rick helped us find the best deals. Two of us were ordering contacts and glasses the other two just wanted glasses. We left by 6:15pm with 6 of the 8 pairs of glasses we picked out (I'm a little more blind then the other 3 so my glasses will be done tomorrow) and our contacts will be shipped to our home with no additional charge.
