I recently visited Target Optical and had a mixed experience. Dr. Diaz was absolutely wonderful--professional, kind, and very thorough. He made me feel comfortable throughout the entire exam and took the time to answer all of my questions. I truly appreciated his care and would highly recommend him. Unfortunately, the experience at the front desk did not match the level of service provided by the doctor. The two customer service representatives were not welcoming or friendly, and they came across as unhelpful and dismissive. Especially the man, but the lady did not intervene at all to rectify the awful customer service being received. Nor, did she give off a nice or welcoming demeanor as well. It made what should have been a positive visit feel uncomfortable and unpleasant. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, because Dr. Diaz is excellent--but the front office experience needs significant improvement. read more

We had to switch optometrists because of insurance and I'm always skeptical switching to a new provider. Dr. Diaz here was so wonderful! He was very nice interpersonally, patient, warm, and so knowledgeable! The new assistant (man) at the desk is horrible compared to the ladies. Hope he can be a bit more pleasant and learn how to extend a good experience to the customers. Gave me a hard time about not finding my insurance and treated me like I couldn't see them without it, not realizing I'm totally fine to pay out of pocket with or without. Needs some added training pointers for sure. I've been going to this location for a few years but will not going forward. I've been wearing glasses for 40 years. My experience with Dr.Yates was the best I've ever had. He is passionate about his work, explains things clearly and provides age-related issues to anticipate and how to address them. I was thrilled to have this level of care. And then there was Emily who helped me select 3 pairs of glasses (every day, computer, sun). Again I have never encountered someone so knowledgeable and eager to help. Honestly this was the greatest eye exam and glasses experience I have ever had. Recommend? You bet. I trust the accomplished doctor and Emily, well, she was a gift! And I picked up my 3 pairs of glasses yesterday. Sam helped me. She was amazing! As busy as she was, she made me feel like I was the only customer in the store! She went above and beyond and truly made me feel like she appreciated my business! The glasses are fantastic...I can see so much better and buying a pair for the computer has made a huge difference. Let me start off by saying these ladies are soooo patient! I appreciate them looking for glasses I thought I may have left there. I had a terrible day at work and my anxiety was through the roof thinking they may have been lost since I first came here in Oct, 2019 with the frames. They were looking everywhere and went above and beyond. I had my partner go back home to search just to make sure they weren't home.. long behold there were in an old purse of mine! Smh I know! I apologized as much as I could to the ladies. & they were understanding and still found time to laugh about it afterwards with me. Ladies, if you see this.. you are all amazing! Incompetence - that's the name of the game. You should know this before you go here, you won't actually see a Doctor on your first visit, you'll see a technician who will RUSH through your appointment and make mistakes, which happened to me. You don't get to see the actual doctor until your follow up. That to me was the biggest surprise, I've always had an actual trained doctor do my exam and help me directly, not a tech. Target optical gives you the pleasure of not seeing a doctor, when you pay to see one. So I needed new glasses, they did their thing and since I'm not an optician, optometrist or eye expert, I have to assume they know what they're doing. I get my new Rx filled and when I get my glasses, they naturally take some getting used to...new glasses can take up to a few weeks to adjust for some people. That's reasonable. After a few weeks they still felt "weird" to wear, and I asked them repeatedly why, they said, ohh well it can take time to adjust, wait and see, etc, etc. Well they took a month to adjust and never felt right. I got fed up with this and went to my friend's recommended eye doctor, this new Dr. saw me directly and told me that yep, my Rx was made wrong and was WAY off. I had it with Target and I won't deal with them ever again. Seriously, you can't even get a pair of glasses right? I guess it's true what they say about big box stores...you can't really trust them for anything but diapers and video games. I should've known that a Doctor's office who sets up inside a big box retail store isn't exactly top quality, well it's true...you've been warned, this place is amateur and the "pros" don't know what they are doing. Don't waste your time and EYE STRAIN on this nothing burger of an optical center. BTW...their selection stinks, nothing but pricey, flimsy ray bans for $200 bucks per frame. We purchased two expensive pair of Oakley prescription glasses. The regular pair are as expected. The sunglasses are a joke. The lenses pop out when you put them on. The glasses were made incorrect. The lenses were reordered and were wrong size and color. A month later they lost the order for the new glasses. I am hoping to have the glasses that are useable before my one year warranty expires. Nice staff and very friendly but would not recommend as the price for poor quality is a big negative. I will never buy Oakley products again. read more

I find that the men's selection is limited in terms of variety of manufacturers with Oakley and Ray Ban dominating most of the available options. I made an eye exam at this location on Yelp. Making appointments have never been so easy. Brian was in there to help me. Unfortunately, I came in on the wrong day. I scheduled for the following Wednesday and thought it was for today. If you schedule online make sure to add the appointment to your calendar with their calendar invite sent to your email. Brian was extremely helpful and friendly. He went out of his way to check nearby locations for available appointments. Luckily, there was one available since I'm overdue for an eye exam. Not to mention out of contacts. It was an easy process he sent all of my information over to the new office and told me if I wanted to buy eye wear at his location I just need to bring the prescription with me. I wish Dr. Diaz was in to do my eye exam, he has so many amazing reviews. He's currently on a trip out of the country so I missed him. They even emailed me to let me know my appointment has been cancelled at this location. Thanks again! read more

I went online to schedule an appointment their system gave me a next day at 5:20 pm so i booked it. I got a call from an employee informing me that there was this weird fluk that for a split second they were fixing the schedule their system allowed me to book an appointment during a time the eye doctor is not in the office. She offered to schedule me out two weeks.. This scheduling error was on their end and I feel they should accommodate me with an appointment a lot sooner than two weeks. After all it was their fault.. This was not offered to me. I work for a doctor and if we make a scheduling error ( it happens) we accommodate the patient.. That's called customer service!! I will take my business elsewhere!!! read more

They took me in quickly and made sure I had the right prescription/was a comfortable fit and answered any questions I had my nephew rolled over and snapped my frame , the lady at the store found my exact frame and helped me go with working glasses and get the best deal for me! This place is the WORST for getting glasses. Highly recommend to NEVER come here as they completely scam their customers and then blame it on them. I came here for an eye exam in July. Everything was fine, mediocre but fine, I paid my copay and paid for my glasses and went on my way. Almost 4 months later I see a pending transaction in my account from the optometrist for yet ANOTHER charge. Keep in mind I hadn't been back to the eye doctor since that visit in July so I was very confused as to why I was being charged for an optical visit in November that I never had. I called them and I spoke with Emily and inquired about why I was being charged again. She said that apparently the thousands of people who had an appointment were never charged and there was something wrong with the credit card company so everyone was being charged again. I stated that I had indeed been charged the first time and that it's pretty ridiculous to be doing this in November when I saw them in July. She RUDELY responded back stating that even customers from way back in February were being charged again also. I was baffled that this company was just never making any money since February apparently and I told her how much of a huge inconvenience this was. She stated there was nothing she could do and then she advised me to send in my bank statement and the refund will be issued. I sent in my bank statement proving that I was indeed charged and I got a response saying it would be refunded with of 48-72 hours. 4 days later and I still had no refund so I called back and apparently the were "unable" to prove that my card was indeed charged even though I sent them in my bank statement. They were rude and did nothing to try and reconcile this huge waste of time and inconvenience and I have NEVER received my money back. Dr. Diaz is one big scam artist and managed to make more money by charging people twice. NEVER go here because you will get scammed! read more

The doctor and staff were polite and courteous, and would have received a glowing recommendation from me, except for one thing. After walking in, I get told "We're going to take this other person first, because it's just a follow up and will be quick." Oh sure. Take them first. It's not as though I had an appointment for a specific time that I was on time - indeed five minutes early - for. Or like the other person came in AFTER me. Or as if I'm here during my lunch break and need to get back to work. No, totally, just skip right over me. Also, this "faster" follow up appointment took about 30 minutes. I was at Target Optical a couple of weeks ago. I usually go to the Costco, but they do not accept my insurance. I have to say I was presently surprised. I have been going to Optical Centers for over 30 years of my life and have never been educated about my eyes more than I was at Target Optical. They were patient, answered all of my questions, and helped me better understand my vision insurance. Horrible experience. The ladies were very nice and helpful, but Target must have them scheduling back to back. When they told me the appointment times they were every 10 minutes. I thought it was odd, but figured there was a method to their madness. I show up for my appointment and waited 30 minutes before I asked the lady if I could just reschedule. She was very sweet and said "Are you sure you don't want to wait? There's only 1 person in front of you now." Who knows how long I would've had to wait! I came in expecting an eye drop suggestion given the last office i went to told me i only had "dry eyes". Dr Gish was very thorough in explaining to me what tests he would like to do in order to help me. As it turned out, i needed a prescription this whole time! I felt very uneasy because glasses are expensive and i had been tricked twice before with wrong prescriptions and wasted money. By far the best optical service I have EVER received! Dr. Diaz was very knowledgeable and thoroughly answered the questions. The optical staff has always been extremely helpful & friendly when trying to find the perfect frames! Once the frames were ordered, the staff was very friendly and made sure I was completely satisfied with my glasses & the fit! The best part? I am a procrastinator and needed to use my eye insurance benefits. It was the last day of the year to use it or lose it. Target Optical on Frye Rd in Chandler was able to get me on the schedule (on the same day I called) and meet my vision needs. I will say that this was my first eye exam that I received that was very thorough from Dr. Diaz. I certainly learned more about my eye sight than I have ever known and what each test is testing for. The staff was very helpful at finding me eyewear to meet my taste within my financial range. I really enjoyed my experience at this location. Like several other reviewers, my complaint is not with the doctor, but with the scheduling and front office manager. My husband's first appointment here was fine - he was given one pair of contacts and asked to come back in a few weeks to order his contacts after ensuring he had the right prescription. Because this location is not close to where we live he asked if we could go in to a different Target Optical location to order them & was told no (we later found out this is not true, but I understand you're trying to meet your own quotas). So, we made an appointment to come in and get the contacts ordered - something that should not have taken more than a few minutes. An hour and a half later, we were still waiting to be helped. At this point it was getting late and we needed to get our child home, so we asked to just have the prescription printed so that we could order the contacts online. The front manager told us, "If you go online you won't be able to use your insurance - you'll have to order them through us. Since you've been here for so long waiting (with an appointment!) I will call you tomorrow when I'm in." Next day - no call. My husband called at least 5-6 times throughout the day trying to reach someone to order his contacts, and never got an answer on the phone or a call back to his messages. We won't EVER be back to this location - extremely poor service, appointments do not mean anything, and you will NEVER get a call back. read more
