My first experience with Woolf Eye Center was painless and pleasant. They office was welcoming and efficient handling my insurance and appointment. The doctor was very knowledgeable and took his time during the exam. I appreciated that he explained the tests to me and what exactly my issues were. After the appointment he walked me to the eye glass area and introduced me to the person who fits you for glasses. There was no pressure, and I was thankful that Sam helped me choose just the right pair that would look good on my face type. The glasses came in just a few days later and are perfect. First time there they were very professional got a nice pair of Vesace frames 900.00with insurance came out to almost 400.Bought them as sunglasses and for driving as I needed something for distance.Year later I wanted glasses for sewing went back in they checked my eyes again and checked the glasses I previously bought and said that the glasses I paid almost 400 previously bought were wrong for my eyes that my eyes had changed.WRONG I had cataract surgery about 6 months before the glasses they put lens in them so instead of making good on their mistake because it was clearly their mistake they said my eyes changed and I needed new glasses for distance but I had the lens in my eyes and there is no way they could change in 6 monthsThey never offered to exchange the lens in glasses for the right ones and I don't have money to keep buying glasses read more

Woolf Eye Care refused to see my disabled wife. We tried to work with them on how to get an eye exam done, but they were completely dismissive of us. We suggested several compromise ideas and were eventually told that the doctor flat out refused to see her, even though doing so is a BLATANT violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act. What kind of medical "professional" just refuses to treat disabled persons? Completely Shameless. Dr Woolf would be embarrassed to have his name associated with this behavior. All of the nurses were incredibly helpful. Everyone was kind and wanting to do anything that could to alleviate some of the pain I was in. They helped me get through my paperwork while I couldn't see (thank you Laura) and my eyes were better within a couple days. read more

I highly recommend Woolf Eye Care Center. They truly treat you like family. My daughter was misdiagnosed from another eye doctor who said she needed refractive lenses and a very expensive contact lens. We went to Dr Woolf for a second opinion. He took his time and gave my daughter the right prescription (she didn't need all of those things). Then everyone took their time and was so attentive when my daughter picked glasses and later picked them up. Gail would not let us leave until my daughter was 100% comfortable with her glasses. They also worked with us on price since we wasted our insurance on the place that messed up. We will all be going to Dr Woolf for our eye care. read more

Beware if you are concerned about avoiding covid. I called ahead to ask about their safety/infection control regarding covid. I was told they were wearing masks, cleaning, etc. When I entered the receptionist and tech at front desk - masks off their faces! When I came up to the desk she put it on. When I questioned her about no masks she said "it's hard to breathe." The woman who sells the frames sits opposite you at a desk. She had a mask below her nose. I was going to leave at that point and should have left. I said something to the receptionist and she replied "do whatever makes you comfortable." I asked for reassurance about the tech (she was the other person at the desk) and assured me she'd wear a mask. Reluctantly I continued. The tech did wear a cloth mask but not correctly. I could still see her nostril and it was very loose fitting. In comes Dr. Wolfe - no complaints. He was wearing an N-95 mask and I've always been ok with his care. I told him about my experience and how disappointed I was that a medical office wouldn't take better precautions. When he finished the exam and started to escort me to the sales person for glasses, I asked him to ask her to wear her mask properly. He did ask her but she just ignored him! I took my prescription and left. By the way if you look at his website it says - masks for patients are optional and staff when in close contact! So if the staff that was unmasked in an office with closed door coughs or sneezes when the mask is off she just filled the room with potential covid germs. I could not believe this is a medical-like office - there was better compliance at Best Buy! read more

Walked into this gorgeous array of glasses and was immediately acknowledged and assisted by the receptionist. The exam was better explained than at other businesses and the employees take the time and care to answer all questions. The associate that helped me pick out my glasses explained all lens options and actually helped pick out a great frame for me that I loved! Dr. Woolf is very professional and attentive. His vast experience is evident. So, why two stars? I have been a Woolf Eye Center patient for over a decade. But after every eye exam, you are purposely directed to the optical department. No one asks you if you are interested in buying their glasses; it's instead implied "You will buy your new glasses from us". The sales people immediately act like buying their overpriced frames and lenses is the only option you have in buying any glasses. If you have insurance, the sales person uses a shallow technique of how great your insurance is, but your out-of-pocket cost is still outrageous. When you finally have the opportunity to talk and you turn down buying their glasses, the sales people don't respect your decision, but instead feign their disappointment in you and go as far as to put on an angry disposition. From there, the sales people become dismissive of you and walk away to their back room. These are the same sales techniques employed by used car salesmen, and it looks like a gimmick...at your doctor's office! You end up walking out not feeling you missed out on a good opportunity, but instead feeling you never want to return to their office. Do better. read more

I wanted to switch to an optometrist that was closer to my house.. Anyways I go in and I already knew i have slight astigmatism in one eye.. That dr gave me astigmatism contacts for both my eyes.. I went in later and complaint about getting astigmatism contacts when I really didn't need the specially on my good eye.. Any ways I finally got the right pair of contacts and the charged me close to $70 for the eye exam which consumed about all of what my insurance gives me.. I hated that place and their doctor... Plus on a side not I would go in on Tuesdays and he would always say how he was glad it wasn't Monday anymore.. When people complain about Mondays that just rubs me the wrong way read more

If I could give Dr Woolf and his team no stars I would have done that! Shame on him and his staff! We brought my sons broken eye glasses to them on 02.07.18. We call on 02.21.18 because we have not heard back from them. They told us that they will call us back because they don't know what is going on. Not until the next day they call and let us know that it is "supply and demand" and that they will let us know when they will be ready. So now on 02.23.18 they call and talk to me. The First Lady I spoke to said that the lab will be over nighting the glasses and we can pick up on Tuesday because they are closed on Monday. I let the lady know that, that it is unacceptable. You guys have had the glasses for over 2 weeks and the fact that they will be over nighting them to you and we get to wait four days is not ok. She did not like that I had said so she got her manager on the phone. Btw this was about 11am. So the manager gets on and proceeds to tell me that she will not come on her day off to sit and wait nor will the dr pay someone to sit and wait. I told her that none of this was my problem but you guys need to make this right. She kept saying the dr will not be ok with it. So I told her every day that I do not have my sons glasses I will be doing a yelp review. She said she will get with dr Woolf and call me back. I made TWO attempts to talk to this office manager before 5pm when they closed for their nice 3 day weekend. And someone told me that the Dr will be calling me back before end of day. He calls me 20 mins before 5. WOW!!!! Is all I can say about this dr. All this company did was blame their lab, they weren't the ones that lost them, I asked the dr to make it right, he proceeds to tell me that these glasses were funded by the school and he makes no money off of them. That he does it for free. He said what to me? Yes!!! This dr has treated me so horribly, why? Because I had gotten help from my sons school to get him glasses and he had basically no remorse of making this situation right. He says it's one day can he sit up close? I said one day? Sir we turned these in 02.07.18 he says "oh my office staff didn't tell me that" HELLO!!! I already told you that!!! He then proceeds to tell me what I was yelling at his staff? Ohh ok, now the dr is taking his staff side instead of getting the call resolved. I told him he had horrible customer service skills and he truly needs to rethink about his staff. It gets better.... his wife was one of the woman I had talked to and he believes his wife. This phone call never ended by the way. This dr set and argued and treated me like my 9 year old son did not matter because of this and that. Not did he once apologize for his staff, for the long period of time or want to help. He was going on vacation and had to leave!!! I would never take my business to Dr. Woolf Paul L OD. He still made no attempt to help me or promise he would do something for my son!! Horrible customer service! Really disappointed with Woolfe Eye Care. I came here for a new prescription. I got glasses and the prescription is wrong. It's blurry and makes me nauseous. (Yes, I did make sure the prescription on the paper was the same as what's in the new glasses.) I called to see if I can get in with the Doc to tweak the prescription and the receptionist tells me I need to come in to make an appointment.. I can't make an appointment over the phone. How does this even make sense? Such a waste of time. She tells me I can go get a new prescription somewhere else but there will be a charge. Also, I ordered contacts in early July and they wont be in until August. What??? It takes a month to get contacts in? So save your time and money and go somewhere else because if you have a problem, you're SOL. read more

She directs me to all their womens glasses and that was the end of the conversation. Didn't bother to help with styles or ask if I had questions. Really odd and cold. Wow! Dr. Woolf and his staff really care about their patients! During the busy holiday rush I came down with an eye infection on both eyelids and it was extremely painful. At first I was going to go to urgent Care, but my husband urged me to go to the expert! Dr. Woolf! As it happened, I was driving by his office and decided to just stop in and see if they could get me in somehow. I knew it was a long shot but I was in serious pain. The front desk was so kind and was able to get me in right away! Dr. Woolf prescribed me some oral antibiotics and and eye cream and also unclogged my eyelash duct right there in his office. Within a few short hours my pain was relieved and by the end of the night well on my way to healing. Thank you so much Dr. Woolf and staff! read more

Very bad customer service. Avoid like the plague. Ordered some Oakley frames. They charged me $190 then said it would take 1-2 weeks to get in. SOOO 2 weeks go by and I call. Oh, he's not in, I have him call you friday when he gets in(this was on tuesday). Friday no call, sat no call and monday no call. Go in on tuesday(week3) Oh, the Oakley rep is bringing them today, you should have them by thursday. Thursday no glasses, friday no glasses. Again, Tuesday i go in and get. Oh, they are in our lab and you should have them by 5 tonight. Nope didnt get them. Call on Friday, and ask the retards if that S.O.P. at Woolf to charge for an item and not produce it? They got me in on very short notice (same day) and I was very happy with everything. I think they really go out of their way to make the customer happy. Everyone from the front desk to the doctor to the opticians, are very committed to customer service. I love my glasses, and they are the best ones I have ever had. I have never seen so clearly out of these glasses and they required specialty treatment. I rely heavily on these glasses for my work at the computer, and they have actually increased my productivity because of how clearly I can now see with them. can't say nearly enough bad things about this place. I completed my paperwork and returned it to the receptionist. One of the forms was to consent to a optical scan (for $32 that's not covered by ins) or have my eyes dilated. I told the receptionist I didn't want either. She said I had to choose one or the other. I've been to other eye doctors before and with my sight I have never been required to submit to such a test. And I told her as much. She said she would have to talk to the doctor. I waited over an hour to get my first round of tests. The assistant said she needed to scan my eye. I told her I didn't choose this option and that I didn't want to be charged. She said I wouldn't be charged. Fine, I did it. Then I waited over 25 minutes for the doctor. He finally showed up, did his little tests and shuffled me to the front to pick out some frames. Having my eyes measured for frames was the quickest part of my visit. In total I spent over 2 hours for what should have taken 40 minutes at most. In addition, I was charged $32 for that stupid scan, out of pocket! First off, I'm annoyed that I was not given a choice regarding my own treatment. I specifically stated I did not want to have the optical scan or dilation and yet they pressed. Second, there is no way I should be charged for a service I didn't want. I'm calling them back today to get reimbursed for the $32. Let's not even forget that I spent two hours in that office last night. If you're overbooked or short handed, tell your customers so they can decided whether to stay or not. Ridiculous! As of 6/3 I still have not received my check and this was from over two weeks ago. read more

There is NO customer service here at all. They are rude, dismissive and are not interested in your business. We love to buy locally and it is a big disappointment to have such a bad experience. They did not try to make our experience successful, let alone pleasant. They have poor communication, no customer service skills and not even a process that makes it possible to conclude business with them. They aren't cheap and the people we dealt with were abrasive. I don't know how they plan to stay in business when they treat people in this manner and don't seem interested in making sales. My wife has been going to Dr Woolf for years for her eye care needs. I was overdue for an eye exam and being diabetic that wasn't a good thing. However I also knew being I'd reached the age where eyes kind of start going bad (mid 40s) and things have been a fuzzy lately. They have top quality equiptment saving the need for dialated eye exams as they can do rapid retinal scans and keep that on record. Also their equiptment can give the MD a quick idea of where your vision needs may go. Reasonable prices and very responsive. I had to get bifocals and was told two weeks and they were ready in a week and were right the first time. read more

I go waaaaay back with Dr. Woolf and his practice. He has guided me through my kerataconus diagnosis since my early 20's. He is quite thorough and is always keeping abreast of new treatments and solutions. When I was still in contacts, his office always provided samples so I didn't have to go out and buy kits for a while. Their hours give me an opportunity to book appointments on my schedule as I now live in central Phoenix and refuse to give him up as my eye specialist. His optical assistants find ways to save me money when deciding on glasses and types of lenses. I do love Dr. Woolf's practice. Sorry to see low scores for them. read more

Great Dr, Nice staff but make sure you have PATIENCE. Took 20 min just to make my first appt. I arrive early, and to my surprise, I am not in the system for my appt after I spent 20 min at work giving ALL my personal info. I have to give all my info once more. While entering my info they ask if I'm sure I live in mesa because my zip code/address isn't in "their" system. I have to do a quick google search on my phone (apparently they don't have google) to prove I do in fact know where I live. Yay, my 1st grade teacher would be so proud. After waiting an extra hour after I provided my information I finally get seen. But wait it gets better, their contact exam machine keeps shutting down and I have to get blinded 2-3 times for a simple test because their machine "always does this". After 2 1/2 hours I finally got to go home. Not bad for just a vision exam right? The unfortunate part is that Dr Woolf is a really great Dr once I got in to see him. So if you have LOTS of patience for the staff and a book to read and not looking for glasses (not a wide selection and pricey) this is the place for you. read more

I have been going to Dr. Woolf for many, many years and have always loved his practice until recent years. I still love him as an eye doctor, however I cannot recommend his office for actually getting glasses at. This is the third year in a row they have been unable to make my glasses correctly the first time. Last time it took several re-makes to get my glasses correct. The year before that the lab couldn't make my glasses without a row of 4 scratches on the left lens from the machine, every time they remade the lens the scratches were there, finally I gave up and lived with the scratches. This year after three tries, I finally gave up and went somewhere else. That was even with them changing which lab they sent my glasses to be made at for the last time. This was a huge hassle with over two weeks each time and then at the end having to argue with them to get my money back and then having to get my insurance re-set so I could go somewhere else. It's the gift that will keep giving because now my exam and my glasses are months apart so I won't be able to get them at the same time unless I wait until my glasses date to get my exam next year. I don't know if they are sending glasses to a super cheap lab to save money or what, but it is terrible. My husband also had to have his glasses made three times, and they did get his correct on the third time. I went somewhere else and it was so nice to get my glasses correct the FIRST time! I won't be going back to Dr. Woolf, even though I do like him, I can't handle the way his practice handles ordering glasses. read more

Love Dr Woolf, but the optical dept is horrifying. I'm not sure whether to blame the optician, the lab, or Dr Woolf for hiring them! Even the former optician who was there for a long time, had difficulty getting my prescription done correctly the first time. I was hoping for a better experience with the new optician, but 3 months(!!) after putting in the order, I finally decided to get my glasses made elsewhere. I made a mistake of not just going here once... but twice. I only picked this place because of my insurance and how close it was. The first visit I had an eye exam and got some new glasses. That went so well, I decided to go back and get some prescription sunglasses in Jan 2012. A few weeks later I picked them up, the only problem was the person didn't communicate that I needed lightweight lenses. So, I was told they would be redone and ready in a few weeks and to keep the ones that were done incorrectly. After 8 weeks and no call, I had the 'nerve' to actually drop by the office and see what was going on. I was told by the front desk person that they were not ready yet and she actually told me not to come in again for them and that they 'would call me" After 2 months and no call, I left a few voicemails which were not returned. Then I just gave up, since I really hardly wore the sunglasses and could just use the ones they screwed up. In November, these clowns actually called me and left a voicemail to schedule an annual eye exam. Well... they can wait on me to return their call... like never. BEWARE of these clowns, they are not interested in sustaining a customer relationship.. they just want to take as much $$ as they can from you the one time you are there. The staff at this place is amazing!! Due to an unusual eye condition I have had a hard time with getting the right prescription, through it all the office has been wonderful to me!! Each time I call, they know what is going on, and do their best to take care of things right away. I have gone in many times over the past year, and I am always greeted with a warm friendly smile. One of the ladies there, Sam, is the best!!! She has gone FAR above and beyond her job duties to help me, even figuring things out with my insurance when I thought it was hopeless!!
