I scheduled an eye exam for my daughter at 5:50pm. The last appointment of the day because she's in school. Upon arrival, I was told that she will have to come back to learn how to insert the contacts because the doctor doesn't like to stay late to wait for her to do the "class" on inserting the contacts. why offer new appointments at 550 if your doctor can't stay until the exam is complete? Very disappointed in with my experience with this office. read more

Update: I received a $10 copay refund and no type of explanation- thank goodness I still received my yearly birthday text from Target optical though!! Since then, I have heard stories from 2 separate people that they have the exact same thing happen at the same location. Both doctors involved in the situation have left target and started their own practice. Crazy! read more

My family went here last year - me included. Overall good experience - frame selection is ok. The front desk/frame-fitting lady is awesome! The Eye Doctors were good. This year, my wife and two kids were 10 minutes late. She was told one person could not be seen. What! We had time scheduled for 3 people 2 with one and 1 with another. The doctor would not budge and just left. My wife had our youngest get her eye exam with the remaining doctor. Other than the fantastic lady at the front desk that answers the phone calls and fits your frames... I strongly do not recommend this location... or Target Optical - you will get treated better elsewhere. We will not be back. read more

Sheisty. I made an appointment here knowing exactly what my eye insurance covers. I fill out some paperwork and immediately I'm being forced to agree to a $20 charge for the exam. My insurance covers an eye exam with dilation so I'm expecting some type of explanation, but I got nothing. I keep my mouth shut, go through the exam and afterward start looking at frames. I will say this, the doctor was amazing. She was very polite and informative and took the time to show me photos of my eyes and explained the anatomy of the eye which was very interesting and helpful. If this review were for her alone it would be 5 stars. Anyway, I pick out a pair of frames and I have a coupon for free frames regardless of the price. I present the coupon and the lady attempts to enter it into the computer. She asks "do you use a computer often?" To which I respond "yes, daily for work." After a few moment she hits me with "ok your total is $199" Umm, what? Why? Absolutely no explanation of the charges or what I was getting. So I ask what the charges are for. Finally I get an explanation for the $20 exam charge: basically rather than dilating your eyes, they use a fancy machine but your insurance doesn't cover that machine, so it's $20. As for the remaining $179, she says "that's the costs of the lenses along with the blue light protection for when you're on a computer." How about giving me some options instead? How about NOT assuming that I want the more expensive lenses and add ons? It was only after I asked about the price that I got an option for cheaper lenses. My total now suddenly became $75 + the $20 for the exam. What I still don't understand is why the most basic lenses costs $75. Single vision lenses are a $10 copay with my insurance. Anti reflective coating is an additional $45 co pay. So how did we get to $75? "Well just look at your receipt" you may suggest. The issue is when she entered the coupon she didn't do it correctly so nothing on the receipt makes any sense. Nothing is itemized correctly and it's impossible to figure out what exactly I was charged for. Moral of the story is don't come here. Even if you're informed on what your benefits cover, you'll still have a hard time filtering through all their bullshit. read more

Again this location proves to be unprofessional and does not know what they're doing. My nephew went to get his eyes checked somewhere else and they said his prescription was completely off. Poor guy developed a facial tic from his glasses which could have potentially been from his prescription being so far off. Do not go here!!!! I have been to many target optical locations and I have to say this one is by far my favorite! The technology they have at this location makes for a quick and easy process. My insurance recommended them and they had a lot of evening appts. I was in and out very quickly. Doctor was very kind and thorough. Choosing which frame I wanted took the longest. Only cost $20 for the retinal imaging... which is soooo worth not having my eyes dilated for hours. I'll definitely keep going to this location. read more

I recently stopped here for an eye exam and new glasses per the recommendation of a coworker (he said Target, not this one specifically). This location was close to my home and has hours until 8pm. The doctor I had was extremely friendsly and performed the eye exam well. He was honest in what my choices were and what it meant for the future. I ordered two pair of classes and was told to expect 7-14 business days. My visit was on a Wednesday and I was surprised when they called me the following Tuesday to say they arrived. The fit was good and the price reasonable. Not only was the doctor friendly and knowledgable, but the staff was also. With hours until 8pm I will definitely come back here in the future. read more

I took my 7 year old daughter in for her first eye exam and saw Dr. Aimee Terauchi. Dr. Terauchi was absolutely wonderful with my daughter, you can tell she enjoys children and is skilled to work with them. The support staff was very friendly and helpful throughout the visit. We will return for our other children and their ongoing eye care. My one star deduction was simply for the lack of organization around checking in and waiting. The process isn't clear and a few patrons were waiting and unsure where or with whom to check-in for appointments. read more

The fantastic staff at this store on Gilbert Rd & Germann made my experience as good as it gets. I tried going from bi-focal glasses to progressive lenses, to the tune of $370. I was so upset that I just could not adjust to difference! I took them back (so worried, and embarrassed) but did not have my receipt. I had a full 90 days to decide before I couldn't return them. As always I left things to the last minute, but these incredible people really showed me they have the BEST, bar none customer service in the business. My family of 6 and I have been going to this Target Optical for several years now. I have always been a fan of the employees. Dr Luce is our favorite and we have also seen and liked Dr Riley as well. And, as much as we love the doctors, the staff are even more amazing! A few have left recently, after many years, but Alice is still there and is awesome as always. My daughter went in for a preschool evaluation which required a vision screening and she failed. They required a passing screening to continue to a one on one evaluation so I did a bit of research on where to take her. I'm so glad I read a review about Target Optical!! My daughter is not quite 3 so I knew taking her to a "kid friendly" place would be vital. Dr. Kerri Luce was absolutely THE BEST. She was wonderful with my daughter and she was also very professional. She explained what each activity was uncovering about my daughters vision. They do sell glasses at Target Optical, but the end result was that my daughter didn't need them. That says a lot. Also note: my daughter is VERY active and Dr. Luce was able to hold her attention for the exams and make it fun also. read more

Only downer is they don't have a huge selection of frames to choose from. Alice helped me on my visit (I already had my Rx - she laughed that it was in Spanish... and didn't fret that they couldn't verify it with the doctor in SA). She weighed in on frame selection when I started to get stressed about picking new glasses and was 110% helpful. I was told they'd take about 2 weeks to come in, but I received a call only a week later and they were ready. I had worn contacts in, so they gave me a case and some solution to remove while I got fitted for the new glasses. I had a bit of trouble seeing far away, so she made a few adjustments, fitted them properly to my face, and off I went. 1000% better than Lenscrafters. read more

Staff is very friendly, the doctors are very professional and they take time to explain your questions. I always get contacts so the eye exam takes about 20min, they order trials for you to test out (4-6 days to arrive at store), then your box set arrives about another week later. The floor plan is not that big so the place gets jam packed especially on a Saturday when it's most busy. The frame selection is not as big as other eye stores but it might be because their space is small?? Overall, the experience is fine and I have not had any issues with their processes. read more

Usually, this service here is wonderful! However, this last experience has left me never wanting to go to this location again. I called in to ask questions regarding fixing / replacement of my daughters eyeglasses. I explained that she is due for her eye appointment but needed her glasses in the meantime. I asked would it be possible to repair her glasses and schedule her appointment for the future, so she wouldn't be without eyeglasses. The optical receptionist told me it was not possible to repair the issue and then put me on hold for 10 mins and never returned to the phone. She was not helpful and her tone was condescending as well. read more

Called in to ask questions and hopefully schedule an appointment over the phone. The customer service was horrible. The person on the other line answered, Dr. Rileys office, which through me off because I only saw two doctors on-line for today and Dr. Riley was not mentioned. Being that this was my first time calling Target Optical, I thought I called the wrong number. I asked the other person if I had the right number and explained my confusion.....I would have had better luck talking to a brick wall as my words didn't seem to go anywhere. I then asked about my insurance coverage and they answered they would be out of network; but the eye exam would cost the same. I asked if the eye exam would cost $10 and she replied, a bit snarky, asking if I knew my coverage. I told her I was looking at it on-line. At this point I decided not to pursue the conversation any longer, thanked her for her time and hung up. I'm not using Target Optical as I am very tired of poor customer service. I'm also tired of just handing over money and not saying anything any longer when instances like this occur. WAHOO!! I can SEE! :) Been struggling with dollar store readers for these old eyes the last couple years so yesterday I decided to get some "real" glasses. Decided on this target honestly because they has a doc and a cancellation! Drove by many other places and boy am I glad I did! From the second I called, and spoke to Brian, I knew this was going to be the place for me! His friendly voice told me they just had a cancellation so I couldn't chicken out now! When I arrived I was treated amazing from checkin to exam to checkout! Brian was just as friendly in person as he was on the phone and they got me checked in quickly! I was lucky to get Dr. Terauchi who amazed me with not only her knowledge but her smile is the biggest and brightest and instantly relaxed me! She took the time to explain everything she was doing and gave me many choices of what I could do. I chose glasses, due to I am a total chicken to "touch my eye" but was not too thrilled thinking I would be wearing them every day, unlike my readers. While I was picking out frames, I changed my mind and decided maybe I would try contacts. The staff was totally cool with my "quirkiness" of not being able to decide and they told me their 90 day guarantee policy! WAHOO! What do I have to lose?? SO...TODAY I went back to get fitted for my first time contacts, was amazed by the service once again by Brian at checkin, Dr Terauchi's contact exam and Chrissy who taught me "touch my eye" and not be afraid! LOL! Dr. Terauchi took the time to even try a couple different types in my eye (she was GREAT at it... I stunk!) I have to say Chrissy deserves a GOLD MEDAL by being patient enough for the ten minutes it took me to be able to get even ONE of my contacts out of an eye! Hopefully it will get easier (so I am told) but if in my next picture I post a shot with glasses....you will know the contacts won the battle.... :( Til next time! :) read more

My 13 year old daughter purchased a pair of glasses back in November of 2016. A few months later the lenses were scratched up and we needed a replacement. We paid the $35 warranty (she has been wearing glasses for 9 years and this has never been an issue with other lenses purchased at Walmart and Costco) and when we picked them up we had to pay another $25--Total $60 We have had glasses replaced at Walmart with no additional fees and never had a problem with Costco. Folks save yourself some money and shop elsewhere. First and last time for us. read more

I took my daughter in on 11/4/11 for an eye exam, and we ordered her glasses. They were nice, and we had no complaints about the office visit. We were promised a delivery date of 11/13/11, which is also printed on the receipt. We heard nothing, so my daughter called on 11/19, thinking perhaps they just forgot to call to let her know they'd arrive, and spoke with a lady named Joy, who stated she would get back to her. TWO DAYS LATER, someone else called back (on 11/21) who spoke so quickly and unintelligably that we cannot catch her name, stating that the glasses had been shipped on 11/19 and would be in the store *quote* : "tomorrow, Wednesday, or sometime this week". Fantastic! Impressive. My daughter called again today, and they are not there. My daughter is nearly eighteen, a college student and works full time... she is very capable, and likes to handle as much as she can regarding her own appointments, etc; but she has become frustrated and asked me to help. So, I called midday today, and spoke with the self-identified manager of this location, "Joe James" who looked for her glasses for a very long time, and then came back on the line and said he didn't know but 'maybe we should reorder them because maybe they got shipped to another location'. I asked him to please call me back with two things: 1. A definitive answer on where my daughter's glasses are, and, 2. What solution he would be willing to offer, if the answer isn't "They are here, come and get them." Hours later, he callec back and left a voicemail stating "the lab said they mighta got shipped to another store or got lost so I dont know but my suggestion is we probably need to reorder these if I dont receive them by tomorrow, just reorder them as "lab lost" give me a call and let me know what you think, talk to you later, bye" .... which is NIETHER an answer as to where her glasses are (tracking? accountability?), NOR is it a solution that helps in any material way. Reordering them, now, nineteen days later, when we don't know WHAT HAPPENED the FIRST TIME, where the break-down in their system is, or who is responsible... doesn't sound like an awesome solution to me. We have already used this year's optical benefit to order these glasses... I already paid our $95 copay on them... what recourse do I have? I googled issues others have had with Target, and this seems to be a recurring issue: once they have your money and your benefit... you've got no leverage and they cease caring about it. read more

The doctor is nice but I can NEVER get a hold of anyone at this place. It's very frustrating. I called an asked for my rx to be faxed today and was put on hold for nearly 10 mins until they eventually answered the phone and hung up on me. I called back and was told they would fax it since I was at the store waiting for it. It's been 40 mins since I was promised a fax and there is no fax and I called 3 times and keep getting the answering machine. I love the doctor but the customer service sucks. read more
