I was told one price on the phone for an eye exam. I assumed I would be meeting with a doctor. When I arrived for my appointment I was charged an additional 20.00 dollars. After the tech ran me through the tests I was told I would have to pay an additional 45.00 dollars to see the doctor to get the results. I already had a prescription, so they just helped me find the new glasses I wanted. I've been going to Valley Eyecare for the past 5 years for contact and glass prescriptions and have had generally good experiences. (Excellent doctors) My most recent glass purchase with them was quite subpar. I bought a pair of pretty expensive glasses and lenses for $650 and expected them to be high quality in terms of fit and vision. They were neither as the frames were quite stiff and even with 3 rounds of adjusting it felt pretty awkward. I also experienced dizziness if I wore them over 20 minutes something I've never experienced with other glasses and contact lenses. When I brought these concerns up to the staff they kept insisting that I had to get used to the glasses and would adjust the frame slightly and send me on my way. I stated that I should maybe get a new pair and return this frame but they didn't really seem happy to hear that. (My mistake now I know if I feel dizzy the pupillary distance is wrong and I'll be more direct with future purchases) Now conveniently out of the frame return date I am stuck with glasses I cannot use and they gather dust on my bookshelf while I use my previous glasses. For the price I paid, I definitely didn't expect this kind of service and experience and I ended up going to Target Optical just down the street which ended up being way better. read more

I was first lost for words because I thought at first, "I am here for an eye exam." I sounded offended but he started to explain himself. I realized that he was correct. I was honestly very anxious about going in for my yearly exam. I called in beforehand to find out what precautions they were taking and from the first phone call was put at ease. The receptionist was very informative, and put my mind at ease. The day of my appointment I came in they were all wearing mask. My temperature was checked, and I was asked to wash my hands. In the exam room all equipment was wiped down in front of me before each use. The doctor came in and as always was awesome! I've been coming to this location for about 5yrs. My husband and I have been going to VEC for over 2 years now. I think we selected them because it was close to home and they are in-network for both of our insurances. We have had nothin but positive experiences with the staff and all of the services they offer. I appreciate how they accommodate our schedule getting us in at the same time and we never have to wait long to see the doctor. My favorite part is the amazing and large selection of frames they offer on sight. I am super picky with my frames and generally like unique stylish options and I have found that most private offices don't have that. VEC is the exception! I always leave wanting multiple pairs and always have a hard time choosing. Sometimes I bring my own frame that I purchased somewhere else line Macy's or Lens Craters and the never give me a hard time and happily add my prescriptions to them. I was nervous about finding a new eye doctor when I moved to Arizona and didn't think I'd find one as amazing as the Shiley Eye Care Center at UC, San Diego. After putting off my annual eye check up, I finally decided it was time to test the waters and see what Arizona had to offer. Thankfully my fellow Yelpers led me to the Valley Eyecare Center and I couldn't be happier! I like that Valley Eyecare Center uses the latest technology to provide excellent service to their patients. The doctors and staff are warm and caring and take the time to actually listen to my concerns and questions. For example, at my last eye exam Dr. Eric Clyde and his staff understood that I couldn't afford the additional cost of the retina scan option, but also knew my time was valuable and I couldn't get through my day in front of the computer if I had to have my eyes dilated so they offered the retina scan and waived the additional cost. When I was recently fitted for contacts I struggled to get them in, but Dr. Clyde was patient and his assistant came into the room to help offer some tips and reassurance. Since I don't have vision coverage with my health insurance plan, I'm glad that they accept the Aetna VSP (Vital Savings Plan). I'm so glad that I found Valley Eyecare Center! read more

I appreciate being accommodated so quickly and getting the issue resolved. My optician is very knowledgeable and helps me select the right pair or frames and lenses that fit my needs. I thought I was legally blind (just kidding) until I went for my annual eye examination. I'm new to this office and I wanted to make sure that my eye health was as good or better than my physical health. Dr. Peter Ryan, was pleasant, funny, and assured me that I was not legally blind :) He was efficient, informational, and told me that I had this amazing imagery of my eyes. ( I have had my eyes checked a million times and no one ever told me this) He used it as a teaching moment (with my permission) with one of the students he mentors. I thought that was awesome! His technicians and staff are top notch. There selection of glasses is huge. The office is spacious and very tidy. So I'm a regular now...they are guaranteed to see me every year. I absolutely love Valley Eyecare Center! It feels like a personalized, family-oriented business, and I have a great experience every time I go. All of the staff members are super nice and friendly. They are especially careful in this COVID-19 environment with sanitizing equipment, requiring masks, and having all patients wash their hands before going back into the exam rooms. I had a quick and easy exam and was then taken into the retail area to pick my frames. Take your business elsewhere, this place is not worth the headache. Ordered glasses and even received a notification that my glasses were ready for pickup. When I called to double check I was told by an employee that my order had been canceled by the manager and was not given an explanation as to why or anything. Later I received a call from said manager telling me my order had been canceled because she "assumed" I could not afford to pay over 1k. Mind you I was never given the final price due to her applying a discount and telling me I could pay at pickup. When I said the price would not have been an issue she tried to backtrack and tell me I could still pick up my order which is laughable. This epic started on Nov. 1st 2023 at the Northen location in ARIZONA. This place used to be the best for me to get my glasses. First pair was awesome. People are great servers. My second experience has been not so positive. The service of the lab, or which ever company make the lenses not so good. FIRST PAIR OF GLASSES: After 3 weeks of waiting, received them. The lenses were not polished, leaving me seeing a bottom blue line on every single line and image I saw, the the lenses. They repeated the lenses on the frame. After another 2 or 3 weeks, receive the new ones. The lenses were perfect. The frames were not confortable. Too big and the holders on the back of the ears were super uncomfortable. Went for a second pair. They honor the pay and insurance claim and picked a different frame. They helped me to pick the right size of frame for me. SECOND PAIR OF GLASSES: Waited another 3 weeks. TThe lenses were again wrong, with the unpolished bottom. They sent the lenses back to the lab. After another 2 weeks, the lenses continue wrong with the extra blue line on the bottom. That leaves me with an insurance claim for 2023. An out of pocket payment that I will try to get reimbursed for, so I can get my glasses somewhere else and nooo glasses as a Jan. 17 2023. read more

Belinda offered me a pair of designer sunglasses due to an inconvenience with another location. My glasses arrived 3 weeks after the day I went in. We found Eric Clyde, because he was recommended for kids by a friend. Dr Clyde is awesome - he is wonderful to my kids and me - very thorough and always pleasant and friendly. I have been here before. I first tried it out about 4 or 5 years ago. Loved it then. Came back again, and still love it! Great location, West side of 44th Street. Great staff! They are very good about answering all your questions. Plus, the Doctors are wonderful. They are Brother and Sister Dr. Eric and Dr. Lindsey. All their eye exams are very modern and they show you exactly what is going on inside your eye. Such as Cataracts, and degeneration of the eye, or any other type of Eye Disease. Here is the really cool thing about this visit. I went in thinking my appt. was this day. Turns out, I was a day early and it was the next day. They were kind enough to get me in right then and there. I saw a different Doctor than I was scheduled for. But, the great thing was they fit me in. You always have the right to refuse any treatment or procedure. What they don't tell you is they photograph your eyes before the exam. Then they make a big song and dance about needing to dilate your eyes if you don't pay to get them photographed. Well, I'm not paying for something you've already done without telling me there's an additional charge for it. It's fraud to perform a service and then asked to get paid for already doing it. Then they try to coerce you into getting unnecessary dilation (remember: they already photographed your retinas) because they "need to see inside the eye" for the exam. This isn't good for your eyes unless medically necessary so it's their way to financially coerce you into paying money. Unbelievably crooked. Just go to LensCrafters, at least you know Luxotica is already a scam. They just don't try to lie about it. read more

Their flashing sign promoting that they're accepting new patients and VSP lured me. So I called them up and scheduled an appointment right away with them. Plus, it was easy from their website I printed out the forms that I needed to fill out -- so I didn't have to spend extra time in the waiting area. I'm very cautious when it comes to choosing new doctors, so I looked over tons of reviews for doctors all over the valley until I settled on Valley Eyecare for their great Yelp reviews. I wasn't, and still am not, disappointed! Dr Lindsey Clyde is possibly the nicest and most caring doctor I've ever had. I have bad vision and incredibly dry eyes, and she stopped at nothing to make sure my new contacts were a perfect fit for my eyes. The staff is equally as welcoming and the woman who fits and orders glasses sat with me for half an hour until I chose the best frames, all the while giving me tips and weighing the pros and cons of each type of frame and lens (very patient for me being such an indecisive person!) It's nice to go to a health care professional who really cares about her customers! Dr. Clyde recognized my boyfriends name from my form and we chatted a bit about that. She is very easy to talk to. I needed glasses and Dr. suggested to start with glasses instead of contacts. The lady who does the glasses fitting was great to work with because she gives you her honest opinion and says things like, "for me, these work for you" or, "for me I don't like them as much as the others". The staff was careful to listen to my budget and help me navigate through different choices. Valley Eyecare Center carries a variety of brands and styles to fit any budget. Some the brands they carry include Coach, Juicy Couture, Calvin Klein, Nike, Ray Bans, Original Penguin, Oliver Peoples, Dior, Max Mara, and Kate Spade just to name a few. Since I was paying cash, the frames specialist worked with me and my budget and made things affordable for me. I was looking to get frames, Rx Lenses, and a pair of sunglasses and she made it happen. She even double checked my insurance to see if we could switch things around (I previously used my coverage for contacts) to make sure I was getting the best deal. I recently went to Valley Care because a friend of mine recommended it and gave it praises. I was welcomed by friendly staff as soon as I walked in. I was happy about the fact that I did not have to wait at all to bee seen by a doctor. All the other places I have been to made me wait for a minimum of 20 minutes. The staff and the doctor as well were all knowledgeable and answered all the questions that I had with extreme patience. The doctor and his assistant never made me feel like I was being rushed. The doctors are great, it's the staff that gets this rating. I didn't ask for contacts, I asked for glasses multiple times. The doc gave me sample contacts and the staff tried to charge me a "fitting fee". After I refused to pay (again, something I didn't ask for), I was asked to take the sample lenses out of my eyes.
