I had the best experience with Jessica and the staff here at Valley Eyecare Center. I'm in Phoenix traveling and mistakenly forgot my contacts at home. I gave them a call they were super helpful in helping me get some contacts which were much needed for my bad vision. A+ experience with Valley Eyecare Center! I've seen both Dr. Eric Clyde and Dr. Peter Ryan, and I have to say that my experiences with them both have been phenomenal. They are patient and very thorough in their analysis of what is happening with your eyes. Had my first experience here today as a new patient and it was a fantastic one! All the staff was so friendly, from the front desk to the technicians to the lovely Dr. Lindsey Clyde herself! Everyone was following CDC and social distancing standards (all wearing masks, plenty of hand sanitizer, disinfecting frames, etc.) so I felt super comfortable and safe. I was able to pick out a great new pair of Fossil eyeglasses (after a lengthy debate between a couple pairs) and I can't wait to go pick them up! Ellie and the other associate/tech (blanking on her name but I remember she said she enjoys "minimalist" style frames!) helping with the frames were so great. I would give the doctors 5 stars. All great, took tons of time explaining some things to me and knowledgeable. I would give the eye glass center negative stars if that was possible. It's crazy expensive, understaffed and has poor customer service. My non-scratch lenses scratched A LOT! Went in in Feb since they were under warranty. After several phone calls and multiple trips in my new glasses arrived the first week of August. I was told I'd be given a credit for the $30 charge which did not happen. Went to pick them up and they didn't fit which wouldn't of been a problem except after waiting 90 mins for an adjustment there was still 1 person ahead of me and I had to leave. So...6 months later I am still waiting. Take your prescription and run to someplace else to get your glasses. read more

I have had experiences with professional offices and I have also had experiences at Pearle Vision. I prefer a professional office. I feel there is a higher level of of service at the professional offices. Valley Eyecare is no exception. From the outside the space doesn't look out of the ordinary. Once you enter you are greeted by the front desk staff that seemed happy, no cell phones, and focused on the patient. The exam and eye xray is done all by an MA (I think). Dr Ryan was great and was very detailed and explained what was going on through the whole exam. He made sure I left with the proper RX and followed up to make sure everything fit correctly. I've been to various eye care places throughout my life and I have to say the customer service and doctors at this eye care center is phenomenal. I'm a new customer here and I've loved my experience so far! Called in for an emergency appointment for my eye ulcer and they quickly scheduled me along with a next week follow up. DON'T WALK!!! RUN FROM USING THIS COMPANY!!! If I could give a less than zero review I would. I had called in a few months ago to get a copy of my prescription so that I could get another pair of glasses from another company that doesn't charge the outrageous overpriced glasses that Valley Eyecare Center charges. The girl on the phone was very rude and said I cant give you that information. When I advised her that not giving that info is breaking multiple laws of withholding my prescription/medical records she still refused to give me my prescription. She called me back a few minutes later and said okay I can send it to you. She said she would send it to my email however, not surprising it never came. Fast forward to a few months later I had lost my glasses and when I called the office again to get my prescription so that I can get an emergency set fast due to I need them to drive they denied giving it again unless I come in and do another exam. There was a federal law made by the FTC to keep optical practices from doing this exact unethical tactic to generate more income for their business. FYI: This is actually deemed against the law by the FTC under Notice of the Ophthalmic Practice Rules ("Eyeglass Rule") This is also considered a medical record which also is against the law to withhold from a patient. Once again the girl I talked to was extremely rude and when I advised her that by law you are required to give it to me she still refused to give me my prescription. I have had it with this unethical business practice at Valley Eyecare Center and reporting them to the FTC and Arizona State Board of Optometry. If anyone else runs into this or any other unethical issue with Valley Eyecare Center I Implore you to report them to the FTC (https://www.ftc.gov/) and Arizona State Board of Optometry (https://optometry.az.gov/) to stop this kind of unethical and illegal business practice. This is just a tactic to prey on people just to make money by holding prescriptions hostage until you come in and pay them for another exam and then they will try to strong arm you into buying their outrageously overpriced glasses and/or contacts. read more

I LOVE the staff at the Northern Location the best Carmen has been my go-to fashion eyewear expert for years and she really knows her stuff. I literally can't pick frames without her! Brian is also awesome! He got the perfect fit and adjustments for my lenses and helped me figure out how to buy my bf a pair of RX sunglasses for his birthday as a surprise! This epic started on Nov. 1st 2023 (Northern location in Arizona). This place used to be the best for me to get my glasses. First pair was awesome. People are great servers. My second experience has been not so positive. The service of the lab, or which ever company make the lenses not so good. FIRST PAIR OF GLASSES: After 3 weeks of waiting, received them. The lenses were not polished, leaving me seeing a bottom blue line on every single line and image I saw, the the lenses. They repeated the lenses on the frame. After another 2 or 3 weeks, receive the new ones. The lenses were perfect. The frames were not confortable. Too big and the holders on the back of the ears were super uncomfortable. Went for a second pair. They honor the pay and insurance claim and picked a different frame. They helped me to pick the right size of frame for me. SECOND PAIR OF GLASSES: Waited another 3 weeks. The lenses were again wrong, with the unpolished bottom. They sent the lenses back to the lab. After another 2 weeks, the lenses continue wrong with the extra blue line on the bottom. That leaves me with 6 physical visits to this place, 6 phone calls made to check on the status of the glasses, an insurance claim for 2022. An out of pocket payment for $400+ that I will try to get reimbursed for, so I can get my glasses somewhere else, and NO glasses as a Jan. 17 2023. read more

I went to Valley Eyecare Center to pick out new glasses on June 13th 2020  due to my glasses breaking. I had high hopes for this place because the staff that was helping me out was very nice. I was told my glasses would come in between 7-10 days. I glued my glasses back together and patiently waited. The office staff made me aware that there was a "promise date" from the lab for me to receive my glasses on June 25th. I contacted the office on June 25th and was told that my glasses would arrive on "Friday June 26th.   I have worn glasses all my life and I am aware that it takes a couple of weeks for the classes to come in. When I didn't hear anything back from the clinic. I waited another week before I called because I figured I would be getting my glasses anytime soon. I called back on July 1st a week after my "promise date" which was 3 weeks since the day I went in. The staff on the phone stated that my glasses were not in yet but "there might be another shipment later." I got a call back from the office and was told that I would get my glasses on Friday July 3rd. I didn't hear back from the office on July 3rd. I received a call on July 8th stating that my glasses were in today but that the glasses didn't "meet the expectations" so my glasses were being sent back to the "lab" and I would receive them in 7-10 business days. It has been 25 days since I went in and I have to wait another week to get my glasses. I have been experiencing massive headaches and my old glasses are falling apart. I have never dealt with any clinic who has given me the run around for a whole month. I chose this Eye Doctor due to the amount of great reviews on yelp but I am very disappointed with the lack of communication and carelessness. I can't wait to get my glasses back and get this over with. Update: I received my glasses, after a month of waiting. Trisha, the manager at the 12th st and Norther location offered me a pair of sunglasses for free due to the inconvenience. When my glasses arrived I was dissatisfied with the thickness of the lenses, I had never seen anything like it. The glasses had bottle cap like thick lenses. I requested to speak to the manager on 12th street and Northern the location I ordered my glasses from. I was told that the manager was out on vacation. I got a call from Belinda, the office manager of the 44th st and Thomas location. Belinda took care of my needs the minute I walked in the door. Not only did Belinda help with picking out the glasses. Belinda offered me designer sunglasses for yet another inconvenience. My glasses arrived 3 weeks after I went in. Belinda communicated with me efficiently and made sure I was satisfied with my glasses. I am thankful that Valley Eyecare Center was able to rectify the issue. I am happy to do business with Belinda at the Arcadia location and will go back to get my eyeglasses in the foreseeable future. read more

I had such a great experience here, from beginning to end! Thanks Brian W. for recommending this place! I wanted to find a new eye doctor that was closer to where I live now. I was weary because I had been going to an office in Tempe for years that I really liked. But, I just don't have the time to make the drive over there anymore. So, I decided to call & make an appointment. Fingers crossed the receptionist would be kind & knowledgeable...which she was! She was friendly, answered all my questions, didn't make me feel rushed to get off the phone, offered me many appointment options around the days & times I requested, went over my copay, etc. These days, I'm working around a toddler's schedule which also means a babysitter's schedule, & I was able to get the exact day & time I wanted. Day of the appointment, my babysitter showed up early, so I decided to do the same. Fingers crossed maybe they could get me in a little earlier...they did! The waiting area is clean & spacious, with a mini fridge of water. The front desk person greeted me right away & had my paperwork already to go. I was taken back almost immediately & everyone I interacted with was chill & easy & nice! I saw Dr. Baldwin who was completely pleasant & very thorough. Love these guys. Dr. Lindsay was personable, thorough, patient, and knew her stuff. The billing department affably worked through a snafu in my insurance. I'll be going back! Edited: I had to knock a star off my rating. A couple of months after my second visit I asked for my prescription to be faxed so I could order glasses online. There was nothing noted on my scrip under pupillary distance, which is a requirement for purchasing lenses. I called to ask if they could give me that information and was told that the doctors only measure PD if you're purchasing frames directly from Valley Eyecare Center. I was told to "Google how to measure it," and that was that. I thought that was sorta shady; I'd paid for an eye exam SO THAT I could buy glasses, but wasn't supplied the complete information I needed to do it. Lowered my opinion a little, but they're close to my office and otherwise have been great, so whatever, I still recommend them. Just make sure to tell them to measure your PD and put it on your scrip. Edited again: These guys consistently lower my opinion! Dr Lindsay saw some things in my last eye exam that, combined with my family history, made her concerned about glaucoma (rightfully so). She ran the full (AWFUL) glaucoma test, and it turned out I don't have it - there was a different, completely unrelated explanation for every warning sign of glaucoma that she detected in my exam. After running down the list ("I thought ___ might indicate glaucoma but it's explained by ____," etc) and ultimately declaring me glaucoma free (I just have weird eyes that make it SEEM like I might), she said "Buuuut....I'd really like to test you again next year, and then every two years from now on." Uh, I'm sure you would, since it was a big fat paycheck from my insurance company! But no. I'm not gonna let you do unnecessary tests on me, kthxbai. read more

I would give this place a zero if I could. When making the appointment over the phone with Esmeralda for my nine year old son, we gave his full health insurance details and were told that because he was a new patient we would have to be there fifteen minutes early to complete the registration paperwork. Living in Lake Havasu, my fiancee and I traveled specifically to Phoenix to get our son's eye tested at Valley Eyecare Center (eight hour round trip). We got there about twenty minutes early, completed the registration paperwork and our son was taken back to begin the eye exam. About halfway through the exam, we were suddenly told that they did not accept the health insurance our son has. We asked to speak to the manager, who was out for lunch so they got her (Trisha) on the phone. After we explained that we had given the insurance details over the phone when making the appointment and also gave the card to the lady on reception after completing the registration paperwork and had driven there especially for the eye exam. She merely offered us an $20 discount ($126 instead of $146) or they would ring and make us an appointment at an eye center where the insurance was accepted. We declined their offer of making us an appointment with another eye center as they can't even manage to handle appointments correctly in their own eye center. Trisha said she would be back to rectify the issue after her lunch break, that was 10 days ago and we have still to hear anything from them. read more

I've been going to Valley Eyecare Center for the last three years, and I am so glad I found them! I see Dr. Eric, and he is smart, understanding, friendly, and funny. I feel like I'm in extremely good hands when he takes care of my eyes. Be aware this place will charge you over $100 for a contact lens "fitting", even if you are continuing with the same brand of lenses you have been using for years. If you're like me and you're using VSP insurance, that eats up a significant portion of your contact lens allowance, so it leaves very little left to actually buy the contacts with. I feel this is deceptive, as my insurance supposedly covered the exam. I won't be returning. read more

When I called to make an appointment, the waiting time was almost THREE weeks. Decided to schedule appointment anyhow as my visit was not any emergency. I was on the phone for quite some time sharing ALL my insurance information. Day I came in, I filled it out again. Once in a chair and asked if I wanted to pay $29 extra for a test; I asked what more after the $60 insurance payment would I have to pay out of pocket. I was told another $80! Unbelievable!! I never head of such a thing; asked for my paperwork and walked out!! I've never had an optometrist take so much time and care in finding me the best option for my eyes. Dr. Lindsay Clyde is nice and knowledgeable and thorough. Her staff is friendly and every visit has been pretty quick. She saw me 4 times in order to get me contacts that fit me the best. I also found glasses frames somewhere else that I liked and I was able to bring them in for lenses at no extra charge. Communication from their office is great. Today was actually my first visit to this center as I had before gone to Jc Penny Optical, Target Optical and Macys Optical. They were so nice and Dr Clyde was especially nice, I was a little nervous, I hadnt been to the eye doctor in forever and I really hate the machine that blows air in you eye! I highly reccommend Valley Eyecare to anyone looking to get an exam without waiting weeks, get good customer service and be able to choose from some great frames. Other places in Central Phoenix were booked out 3 weeks on average or had a fairly boring selection of glasses. Dr. Clyde was great and very down to Earth. Cheryl helped me pick out sunglasses and regular frames. I was going to skip getting sunglasses this year because I had my heart set on some custom Raybans. Not only did Cheryl beat Rayban's online lab price by about $200, she was able to do the same customization. I was happy to have her opinion as I tried things on since glasses are quite the investment. I'll definitely be back next year for my exam and frames. read more

Thank you Dr. Lindsey! I will be a bride in about a week and was horrified to wake up to a ruptured blood vessel in my eye. Concerned for my eyes as a diabetic and unsure if I was really ok (and if my pictures were going to turn out ok or not) I was able to get a quick appointment and after being examined was assured I was going to be just fine and that I was already in the healing stage.
