It's a restaurant made from an actual retired working garage and repair shop. It's unique. It also doesn't warn about that step at the door and I have tripped on it too many times. Tonight I paid attention and all was right in my world. It's jarring when I don't. Still, throw up a yellow piece of tape or something. This is not drunk or wheelchair friendly. I wasn't either yet, so the coast was clear. We sat at the bar and it was vino for bestie- a malbec and a black cherry bourbon cola slushy and agua for me. Mike was our bartender / server and he made sparkling conversation like we were old friends. He just got back from Vegas. He went to Chinatown. Love it! The atmosphere is a light wood, sports bar feel, the tvs were closed captioned, and the menus had QR codes. There was a $30 ancho salmon on the menu. It came with my choice of side. I opted for the Greek salad. She got French onion soup and quinoa salad. Let's talk about my meal and why I'm giving 5 stars despite the whole front step thing. The salmon was perfect. It has a crispy red speckled exterior that was slightly spicy and very savory. Inside it was perfectly cooked and moist. It was just a bit less than an inch thick and pieces flaked off on my fork easily. There was no fishiness and I ate the crisp skin, which I never do usually with salmon. It was divine. It came with a side. The Greek side salad took up half my plate and it was piled high with a truly interesting and thoughtful array of quirky bites. It was weird for sure- but it worked. Picture a Greek salad in your mind. Ok this is not that. It had the usual crunchy lettuce with a light and tangy Greek dressing. There were vibrant and sweet red onions and feta. And then it got wild. There were crunchy pickled beets, roasted tomatoes that tasted like basil, sweet jalapenos, (Yes- you read that right!) crunchy fried garbanzos that tasted like Indian spices... It was the strangest and most deliberately delicious Greek salad I've ever had. I'm not a salad person. At all. This was the star of the show, but that salmon was stiff competition. Together, the meal sang. You have no idea the gratitude that swept over me after having that nursing home salmon at Red Robin for my birthday. I have been vindicated. This is the salmon I was meant to have. This is the salmon I deserve. I can now return to Las Vegas satisfied that Michigan did show up in a big way for me today. Thanks Vincetta Garage and Mike! We had a great experience trying this restaurant for the first time during Detroit Burger Week. The mechanic burger was greasy but in the best way, the flavors were great. We also got fries (amazing) and a margherita pizza. The pizza crust was really nice but the cheese was a little rubbery. Quirky place with good burgers. Done in a Steampunk vibe with the original gas station parts still visible. Usually busy. The burger sauce is delicious. The pizza is ok. The crust could have been more done and the burger pizza we ordered had way too many pickles and lettuce. Those onion rings are darn near perfect; crunchy outside and cream bite through inside. Very cool spot off Woodward Avenue -- was an old garage that was converted to a restaurant. They have decor to support the theme and it's fun. The best part is that it opens up to the outside (aka the "garage doors" lift open so there's fresh air connected to outside eating and inside spots open to the outdoors on nice summer days too. As far as the food: burgers, union mac-n-cheese and the coal fire pizzas are specialities. I've had the first two in the past so tonight I ordered the pizza with grilled pineapple, garlic and pepperoni. They do offer pizzas with toppings like chopped burger, steak and even chopped coneys. But that's not my thing... but may be yours. My husband ordered the chop shoppe salad which is like a Cobb with chicken and fried onions on top. We enjoyed both for what they were. Not the best pizza but decent for a non-pizza place. The server was friendly and the meal was well paced. Recommend if you're looking for a more laid blunch or dinner in the area. read more

I live Vinsetta's Garage. the food, vibe, the DESIGN and INTERIOR, and to top it all off, the sweetest waiters that serve us with no rush whatsoever. The restaurants story is so interesting. It was originally an actual car repair shop, and was named after the former-street it used to be under. (I believe it was Vinsetta Street) The whole kitchen and dining area, and entrance is all built from the actual garage. Even the table are sawed from car frames and crushed steal, you can feel the sweat of the car repairmen oozing out of the walls. I NEED to talk about the Union Mac. When you go to Vinsetta, it is priority number one to get this dish. For the sake of appropriate behavior on my part, I will not re-create the incredible howling noise I started to subconsciously create when I first tried this mac and cheese. I wouldn't be surprised if I killed a generation of Macadamians. All I'm trying to say is, it's the greatest mac and cheese in Berkley. The burger isn't much to write home about, just a simple, run of the mill Krabby Patty. The vibe this place gives off, you'd think the pizza would be quite crispy. You're dead wrong. While it doesn't manipulate the quality of the pie, it feels misleading in a traditional sense. I will say, the Oven Roasted Tomatoes explode in your mouth like gushers. I loved the first bite of everything I had here, and if I had to recommend any kind of busy dinner spot in Berkley, it's this tied with Crispelli's. But on a personal level, I can't help with Vinsetta's when they have such a good track record. 4/5 read more

It's been a while since I've been here, and the long wait at busy times is part of the reason. No problem at 3:00, however, even on a Friday. The 3 AM Burger is served with Swiss, onion straws, bacon, just enough sriracha mayo to give it a bit of a kick, and topped with a perfectly fried egg. The burger has a nice char, and you can taste the quality of the meat. It's served with chips, but the server told me that I could substitute any of the sides. She didn't tell me, but it appears to be $1 off the regular price. The onion rings looked perfect, but they were a bit squishy....not something I want in onion rings. Even with the tasty tomato mayo, I couldn't eat more than 2 of them. My wife's grilled chicken was perfectly charred. The bacon and pepper jack were a perfect compliment. And, the skin-on fries were amazing. Fortunately, there is plenty to share. She asked for honey mustard with the sandwich, and she loved it. We both swapped out the regular bun for a pretzel roll The drink selection is excellent, and there are some nice options. My wife accidentally ordered a mocktail; she went to the bar to tell the waitress she wanted alcohol in it when she figured it out. The waitress didn't offer to switch the drink out. We paid an extra $8 for a shot of vodka, making it a $15 drink, which I didn't realize until we got the bill. It's still fun getting a tasty meal and a drinks in a vintage (but clean) garage. I won't take so long next time before I return, but I'm skipping the onion rings. read more

Every I was just okay, not great but passable. The food came out in phases so it was awkward to wait for everyone's dinner. The chef forgot to put bacon on my sandwich so the waitress brought out a plate of ice cold bacon for me... WHAT? They couldn't heat it up? At the beginning I was a little skeptical due to the young hostess brushing me and my boyfriend off. We arrived and she blankly said "one second" and hoped on a phone call. It took another worker to help us after we had been waiting awhile but he apologized profusely and was very kind. The vibe of the place was super fun and chill. We went before a Tiger's game and it was the perfect laid back but authentic-style for a dinner. It also is very unique due to it being an old gas station and has kept many of its original structure. We ordered the Chips and Onion appetizer. I thought that was good! We also asked our server her pizza recommendations. While we had our minds set on the Loaded Potato Pie, it wasn't one she had suggested. I'm disappointed we didn't choose one that she recommended because I would say this wasn't my favorite pizza I've had. The flavor was bland and in my opinion, the texture of the potatoes didn't blend well enough with the pizza. It lacked flavor. The history of the place is very cool and the penny floor in the bathroom was one of the first I'd ever seen back when the restaurant first opened. I've been to Vinsetta Garage several times over the years, so I'm surprised that I haven't reviewed it before now. First of all, I remember when it actually WAS Vinsetta Garage; my dad used to take his cars there for service, so I'm just filled with nostalgia about that. I love that they've kept the service office as the waitstand (or whatever you call the spot where they take your party's name). This is part of the Union Joints, so sort of chain-like. Of course, that means that they have the wonderful macaroni and cheese, and you can get it as a side instead of their very good homemade chips for a slight upcharge. I've always had burgers here. I noticed last night that they didn't ask how we wanted them cooked, and they came out pretty close to well done. I would have preferred medium, but this was ok. I was thinking about ordering one of their "declawed" cocktails, but they didn't have either of the ones I was interested in, so I just stuck with water. And I'm glad that they left bottes of water on the table. Our server (Elle, I believe?) was very good. She made sure that what my sister ordered didn't have pepper, and she even double checked. She came by several times to check on us, and she was very efficient. The only thing that I really don't like about the restaurant is that it is so loud. It's impossible to carry on a conversation without shouting. We had a table of 6, and I could really only hear the people sitting directly across from me -- and not always then. But, the food is good, and unlike places like Ford's Garage (which is also good), this is an authentic former garage. So if you have the opportunity, do check it out. read more

My family and I went here for the first time (for a lot of us) to celebrate my uncle's 60th birthday and it could not have gone any better. The atmosphere and vibes from the restaurant and staff were great! The food and drinks were fantastic: we had items ranging from burgers (the 3am burger is a local favorite and for good reason) & fries to pizza and onion rings and even a surprise birthday dessert they included at the very end. Also want to include the amazing service as well from our waitress Kelly. She went above and beyond to help and make sure our group, which was about 9+ along with two babies, were doing well and everything was made to order. **5 stars**: When we reached this place we were told it would be a 45 minute wait. After about 20 minutes we ended up being sat in a beautiful booth. Our appetizer was out in 5 minutes and our server Kelly answered every question we had (which was many) with ease. My sister usually finds herself disappointed at basically every restaurant we go to and every meal she orders, especially because she's gluten free. She loved everything about this place. They offer many gluten free options that are not only edible but delicious. The decor is a perfect mix of vintage but modern. We came for a birthday and the dessert comes with a sparkler and rock & rye ice cream with pop rocks on top. Had a good Tuesday night dinner! Reservations are always a good idea or there will be a wait! We did have reservations and were seated and attended to immediately! I had the classic Vinsetta Burger which usually come with a large amount of good chips...but I got the super yummy Mac and Cheese. My date got one of their pizzas. I can't remember which one...but it was well made and there's enough to take some home. I had a cocktail that was whiskey and honey. Very good. I'll definitely be back. They nickel-and-dime you for everything -- e.g., pretzel bun used to be standard on the 3AM burger but now it's an extra. The worst part is I recently ordered a Chop Shop salad to-go and upon opening it later, there was NO chicken or ham, which is the entire point of the salad. First of all, I love their mac and cheese. I live nearby and it is hard to order carry out from here as of recently. This restaurant consistently doesn't let you order online. The last time I called, they said you would have to come into the restaurant to place your order. Additionally, the prices have gone wayyy up. $20 for mac and cheese. I could buy a box of noodles for $1.50. I hope service improves here as I really like the food and to be able to pick it up but it's getting more expensive and difficult to order these days. Also, they made me give my credit card number over the phone which in these days feels kind of dangerous. Went to pick up $14 burger and was charged 21.20. I went with a close friend to Vinsetta's Garage for lunch on Sunday, February 15, and had a fabulous experience. The food was great but, most importantly, our server Kelly was excellent. The restaurant was packed so she was very busy, but she took the time to answer our questions, bring extra drinks, and make some menu suggestions while keeping a very pleasant smile on her face the entire time. That's the kind of service you wish you could get everywhere! Needless to say, she got a lot of thanks and a great tip. My advice to the management is to find more servers like Kelly and reward them accordingly!! Vinsetta garage did have delicious burgers. All of us got a burger, which is their specialty really enjoyed it. Now the macaroni and cheese on the other hand was not good at all.
