Vinsettas is a (and possibly THE) Woodward Ave staple. The restaurant used to be an operating garage and they kept the theming up beautifully. It's always clean and upbeat. The service, even when busy, is always great! I have been to vinsettas hundreds of times and I highly recommend checking it out. I've tried nearly the whole menu and yes the burgers are worth it. This place is awesome because it's located just outside downtown Royal Oak, technically in Berkley. That means you can avoid the nightmare of finding parking in downtown! I love the decor of this place. It's welcoming yet unique. It has a cool industrial car garage vibe, hence its name, Vinsetta's Garage. It's the ideal theme for its location right off Woodward. It's a fantastic spot to hang out with friends, family, or even for a date night. I've been here multiple times and the food is always good. However, I haven't been in a while because I started to get a bit bored with the menu. When I used to come here, their pizza ovens were out of order, so the majority of the menu was just burgers. And don't get me wrong, their burgers are delicious, but I started to crave something different. Now that I've taken a break for a bit, I definitely think it's time for me to pay this place another visit soon. read more

Been here a few times now. Recently came here on a busy Saturday during brunch time and was seated pretty fast. Got the Margherita pizza, Mac and cheese, and the pretzel burger which were very tasty. We saw the overall Yelp rating and wanted to try this place since when we visit Michigan, we typically go to the same places we find to be good and hoped to add this place to our list. The look of this place from outside made us almost walk away but since our goal was to try a different place, we went inside. The ambiance inside was just ok. As for the food, we thought the price of the burgers were a bit too high for what you get and for the caliber of this type of a restaurant. The portion size was small for the house salad I ordered and the onion soup had way too much onions and not enough broth. I think the issue is more me than them. Let's put that disclaimer out there first. We stopped in after shopping across the street. My stomach really needed a lighter fare, something in the healthier side. That's a ME thing not them. They don't really cater to that. Burgers, chips, wings and beer. That's their thing. Was a bit underwhelmed by the place. The ambiance was cool, but truthfully, my #1 priority is food quality and I couldn't care less about the theme of a restaurant. If you're really into eating in funky spots w/ interesting themes and are a gearhead, I'm sure you love the place. For me it wasn't worth the upcharge they put on the menu prices. The burgers were good but not worth the $22 price point. You can go elsewhere and get just as good a burger for a lot less. You'll also probably get a legit side, not just potato chips. When you're charging over $20 for a burger, you shouldn't be nickel and dime-ing people to upgrade their side. The chips were tasty but again, not worth it. That to me was the theme of my experience. The food was good, nothing exceptional and certainly didn't justify the premium price. The one thing that was worth the money was the Tikka Fries, those were damn tasty. While visiting Detroit, my daughter brought me to Vinsetta Garage after running errands and a quick Costco run. She raved about the onion soup. I ordered the onion soup and the Vinsetta Burger. She was spot on when she described the onion soup as the best she's had. I have to say, it's the best that I've had. The Vinsetta Burger was great too and reminded me of burgers from my childhood. Everything about Vinsetta Garage from the decor to the service was nostalgic. I come from Los Angeles, CA--we just don't see the same kindness and customer service anymore. Our waitress was not great, after taking our food and drink orders and delivering our drinks, she totally disappeared. Like really disappeared. We had all consumed our drinks and 2 containers of water and we were all looking for her for water and another round. She was gone for 55 minutes. She brought our food, we ordered new drinks and got more water. I ordered the side of mac & cheese which was a good portion for me, it was delicious as most people reported. I also ordered a side ginger salad- it was kind of blah. I said no tomatoes, it was covered in tomatoes. The dressy was gloppy and unappealing. Interior is fine, slightly noisy, but manageable. The chairs are comfy but you can't cross your legs because of the table apron. So - mostly decent food, crappy service and not much ambiance. read more

This place is a staple of Woodward and the Berkley/Royal Oak areas. It feels a lot like Ford's Garage before Ford's Garage since Vinsetta's was actually built in a former garage. It's definitely got that converted-industrial appeal, and the food is worthy of sticking around the neighborhood. Why four stars? First off, the parking situation is pretty terrible, but that's not exactly a secret if you're a local. Second, good luck walking in without a reservation on a weekend. We made our reservation online (a fairly easy and simple process) but COULD not book a table for Saturday night 2+ weeks out. We compromised a booked for a Friday night. By the tail end of our meal (8:00pm +), there were plenty of tables available, so if that's your window or just feel like walking in, this seemed like a good time to do it. My fiancé ordered the Shop Towel, and he really didn't like it at all and regretted his choice. His experience was closer to 3 stars from just a taste point of view. I ordered the Vinsetta Burger which was pretty good, but I could have settled for a simple cheeseburger. In all, this place is pretty good but not amazing from our experience. We were in Royal Oak today and decided to try this out for lunch. The location is right off Woodward and the parking is a little tight, so definitely something to note for peak hours. The place is an old garage made into restaurant and it's very great atmosphere inside. My husband and I decided on the burgers. He did the Macon bacon burger, while I did the standard Vinsetta burger. Portions are very big. Come hungry. I like that the burgers were cooked well and flavorful. I had the fries, and my husband did the union mac, instead of chips. Both sides were great substitutions, but note they are an upcharge. Prices are a little higher but the portions definitely make it worth it. Next time I'd love to try the pizzas, and maybe not be so hungry that I forget to take pics of my food! Not my first time at Vinsetta Garage but might have been my best of 3 or 4 visits. This place is usually very busy and parking is hard to come by. We hit after the main lunch time so it was a little less chaotic than normal which was appreciated. My coworker and I both had burgers. He had the 3am which featured the half-pound Vinsetta blend patty, Swiss, Woodshop MI maple bacon, topped with a fried cage-free egg & crispy fried onion strings, and Sriracha mayo. He also had a side of chips and a chocolate sundae. He reported the sundae was very good. He's had many visits before and suggests he's had most of the menu at one point or another. My burger was the Shop Towel which had a 8oz Vinsetta Blend patty, cooked medium, with Woodshop pulled pork, SC mayo, house-pickled chilis, pepperjack, and spicy fried onions. It was a hot mess but quite tasty. I also had the famous and quite good Union Station Mac and cheese. We both enjoyed the decor and homage to the Motor City. I love the industrial furniture too. What a place! The interior is most definitely a garage. I love the aesthetic! Super cool, big open spaces. Awesome. The service has always been great here. It feels like they get treated well and don't hate their jobs; kind of a foreign concept, no? Seriously, we've always been treated well here and the service is exceptional. The food is also exceptional. The cheese curd appetizer is probably one of the best I've ever had with a light and airy batter, perfectly fried with and the curd itself is just so flavorful. Big recommendation on the mac and cheese. It actually has flavor and the noodles aren't cooked to mush. The dinner sized order is worth every penny, but the portion is HUGE. You'll probably take it home and eat leftovers for the next two days. No joke. The burger is a contender for my top 5 in the area. A really nice blend, and cooked to a medium well. Really flavorful beef. I had the Vinsetta burger which is kind of like their version of a Big Mac w/ bacon. It is a big burger, especially when you add all of the toppings, but it was manageable and didn't fall apart or get sloppy. Get the seeded bun. Also, HUGE bonus for having hand cut fries that are crispy. Well done Vinsetta! You understand potatonomics. The pizzas all looked good and we had a Vinsetta blanco pie. The crust was light and airy with a good crisp to it and not much flop. Really well baked in their awesome looking pizza oven. No complaints. This is such a fun spot. The food and service never disappoint. The cheese curd app is the best. Flavorful cheese curds (aka squeaky cheese!) in a light batter, fried up and served with a house made Red Hot bleu cheese. This dip is more like "good ranch" with some bleu cheese and Red Hot. Not super spicy, but enough to give it a good kick. Even if you are not a bleu cheese fan (ME), try it! The Mac and Cheese is so good but the serving is massive. You can easily share this. On the last visit my brother and I split the side order portion and it was still enough for each of us to have a good serving without ruining the rest of our meal. I get this rule but there were plenty of tables and the private room remained empty the entire time. Just set everything off on the wrong foot because we could have preordered appetizers and drinks. Service was very slow, we would drink twice the amount of someone bothered to check in on us. Finally at 9pm we got our bills without prompting. I have never felt so rushed in my life. We arrived at the place this past Saturday at 8:50 pm but we didn't know that they closed at 9 pm. When we found out about the closing time we offered to leave right then, no hard feelings. We stressed that we didn't want to feel rushed and not have the cooks do something to our food because of us arriving late. The hostess and manager insisted that it was no issue and that we stayed. We got alcoholic drinks and 2 appetizers. We started to see the chairs being placed on the tables in anticipation of the restaurant closing. While my date was trying to finish her drink, the waitress informed us that they were closing which we were well aware of. I asked for a to-go cup for my date's drink but they said no. Then, a totally different waiter came over and said, "it's about that time yall." I said wow, if we could've gotten a to-go cup for my date's drink we would've already left. I asked if he was going to provide a cup and he said "oh, okay I can't do that." So, when we left, we spoke to the manager, and the lady just didn't seem like she genuinely cared about our concerns. Mind you, this was the same lady who insisted that my date and I stayed. I was so excited to try it but after this experience, I highly doubt I'll ever go back. read more
