Some days it required TWO chocolate milks to wrestle one down! They still sell 'em today. Members of my family have been buying at Star Bakery for over 70 years. Obviously, a legand in Northwest Detroit. It's not a modern day bakery. Most everything is a Jewish classic but made just like they did 60+ years ago. Seven layer cakes, small bumpy loafs, star sugar cookies that melt in your mouth and oh yeah, bread. Miles and miles of bread. Mandel bread, marble rye, really most any bread you can think of. It's about traditional with the bakers at Star. Not only are you exposed to well preserved ancient recipes and Orthodox Jewish delicacies, but, the fellowship will keep you coming back.
