I am a fan of the other two locations that I've dined at so was happy to visit a location that I had not been too. This review isn't about the food but the building itself. When you go in, look at the ceiling and there are literally tiles on the verge of falling down. Moreover, you can see the broken drop ceiling pieces that the "new tiles" are attempting to cover on the verge of falling down, particularly over the bar area in the front portion of the restaurant. Seeing the messiness of the customer facing area makes me worried for the kitchen that customers can't see. read more

The food at all of the French Toast locations never disappoints! Even the espresso martini was delicious! The peach cobbler was good but I like the crust at the Plymouth location. Service was excellent per usual and this location was rather quiet, not packed with people; very clean and they have a nice patio you can eat on. I will return when I'm in the area! read more

You can never go wrong with French toast bistro. The only thing I noticed with this location is that they were kind of slower preparing the food. But it was delicious, I had the chicken and waffles. The waffle was fluffy and they give a chicken breast which was juicy and seasoned to perfection. The service was great. It's funny the server I had originally worked at the canton location it was nice to see he was doing well. The ambiance I nice and clean. read more

Came here on a Sunday morning; it was jam-packed. Thank goodness I got takeout; otherwise I would have had to wait for a table. I got the lobster omelet and the French toast. The lobster omelet was pretty big, filled with small chunks of lobster, mixed vegetables including mushroom, and cheese. There were red-skinned potatoes, which were well made. There was also a biscuit included, which is pretty standard. I also got a side of French Toast which was soft and fluffy and was pretty good with syrup . I think out of all the French toast I've had, this is up there to be one of the best. This is a solid breakfast place to add to your arsenal if you are a brunch type of person. read more

New Orleans / French / southern theme here. This used to either be the hamburger or egg frittata or ice cream place before. Beyond the green curtain is Viridian, a speakeasy an evening Open Table reservation only spot. The lobster omelet sounds pretty good, maybe add some crab meat too? Then again the sweet potato bowl sounds good too. A few spots in the lot in the alley, most likely have to park out on the street, since the back lot is full. Nyla is waiting on us, she and the rest of the staff are pleasant. Ordered a black coffee with oat milk side, green tea, sweet potato bowl with blackened salmon, lobster omelet with white cheddar grits instead of potatoes and side of biscuit and extra side of turkey sausage. $79.50 The house salad was blah. Some brunt romaine lettuce, some thick red onion ends, some maybe cooked cherry tomatoes, the skins looked wrinkled and old. The herb vinaigrette for the house salad is all lemon, not much else, not for me, but it's the lemon vinaigrette or ranch, neither is good to me at all. I asked for EVOO or any kind of Olive Oil, they don't have any, super shocked. Finally a manager said they will give me Olive oil to eat my salad, not what I wanted, but better than the lemon. The EVOO with fresh black pepper was better than the champagne lemon vinaigrette. The sweet potato bowl without the salmon is super salty, too salty and it would one be sweet potatoes, onion, frozen red pepper slices, Brussel sprouts and cherry tomatoes, kind of a sparse ingredients for a bowl, no? The dish as a whole is extremely salty, almost tastes like an entire ramekin of salt was dumped into my bowl, accidentally. The salmon was okay, slightly undercooked near the top side. The turkey sausage is quite salty, not as salty as my potato bowl. The chef here likes to salt their food plenty. Biscuit is so-so, nothing buttery or special about it. read more

Wow, so glad we tried French Toast Bistro out! It was busy when we walked in, but we were able to get a table almost immediately; waitress was very friendly, funny, and willing to answer questions/make recommendations for meals. I ordered the Biscuits and Gravy and added a side of Cheddar Grits and I REGRET NOTHING!! The biscuits were pillowy, the sausage gravy peppery and rich, the scrambled eggs cooked perfectly! And oh man, those grits!--don't tell my husband, but I might leave him for those! I'm going to try and give this place a break. It's fairly new, and I'm sure they're working their bugs out. The waitresses seem a little confused on what they're supposed to do, whether it be seating customers, running their food, taking orders, taking breaks. The food was very good, however, it definitely took a while for it to be made. I have a strange feeling they only have one cook in the back that kind of does whatever they want when they want to. I saw a table of people that came in, they were seated, and then ignored. They got up and left after about 10 minutes of not being served?? At one point I wanted some coffee and there wasn't anyone, anyone on the floor? I really hope they get their self together, this place is a very nice looking place and it seemed clean, but I can probably say with the disorganization that it has it won't be lasting long unless they get it together. read more

This place is close to home so we were excited to try. Granted, most of the reviews seem to be for brunch so maybe they're better at that -- but we came for dinner and were severely let down. First off, their menu in person doesn't match the online menu. Everything that enticed me to even try this place was no where to be found. And the decor is... odd. You've got a Cajun vibe menu paired with big chandeliers, faux marble tables, and random wall decor that was giving cheap glam. Nothing seemed to be cohesive and it felt very awkward. We started with their brie board with fresh fruit, fruit preserve, and bagel chips. Oh, how I wish I had a picture. It was a tiny wheel of brie with some jam slapped over it, a single strawberry that was sliced and a few blueberries. The bagel chips were not even full chips, but broken pieces that looked like they got emptied from the bottom of a bag. I honestly laughed. It tasted fine, but was not worth $15. My husband got the voodoo burger and I got the chicken sandwich. Both were good, but nothing we'd ever get excited about again. The worst part was the wait. We waited at least 25 minutes for the brie board and then at least another half hour after that for our food. There were only 4 tables total, 2 already had their food when we walked in, so only one ordered ahead of us. No one came in after us. Painfully slow. I can't imagine how they would even manage a full restaurant if given the opportunity. Last thing - they had someone in the (small) dining room doing a table photo shoot with the food for what I would assume was for social media. It was so weird and unprofessional. Usually those things are done during closed hours and not right next to your customers. We personally won't be back, but I hope they make some changes so they can stay afloat. read more

Came here with a group to try out this new Clawson restaurant. They have 2 other locations but have been in this one less than 6 months. But you wouldn't know that from the way they work. We had mimosas, french toasts and omelets. I my lobster omelet and the gf eggs Benedict were good even at take away. Anna handled our group well. I absolutely LOVE this charming, nicely decorated place. I've been twice. I had the sausage and biscuits on one visit, and the gumbo and fried green tomatoes on the second. My husband visited for the first time and had a fluffy, well made omelet. Everything is fresh and delicious. They really care about the quality and presentation of the food.The service is very attentive. Portions are generous and the cocktails are also excellent. The shrimp and grits were delicious, and I really appreciated being able to sub turkey for the andouille sausage since I don't eat pork. The Creole Board is a must--fried green tomatoes and shrimp? Yes, please. We also tried the chicken Alfredo, the crab cake eggs benedict, and the lobster omelette (I swapped the grits for potatoes and it was perfect). The beignets? Don't skip them. Just trust me. Service was super friendly, the restaurant was really clean, and our server told us cocktails are coming soon--so yeah, I'll definitely be back for that. Casual, Friendly Version Very cute place! My friend's niece told us to try it, and she was right. I got the chicken and waffles with collard greens -- so good (just not into the hot honey). My friend had the hot chicken sandwich with homemade pimento and loved it, and the omelet was great too. We split the beignets for dessert -- just like New Orleans! Just returned from French Toast Bistro in Clawson and they didn't disappoint. I had the Florentine vegan omelette, and it was packed with everything from mushrooms to greens....Along with some nice size pieces of turkey sausages, which were very tasty. And the grits were so creamy & flavorful, but it just wasn't enough for the cost.But other than that, I really enjoyed the atmosphere & ambiance of this place....The service was rather quick, waitress was pleasant & attentive, I will come here again and make it a recommendation to some friends. read more

I went there on a Friday morning after Book club with 6 other ladies. I waned a place in the sun cause it was a nice day. but after the staff pushed 3 tables together, the rest of the bunch waned to sit in the shade. So we moved. The food was delish, I had the acadian benedict with fried green tomatoes and hollandaise sauce. But, the service was atrocious. I ordered a bloody mary, and drank it all up the server asked me if I wanted another one, I said no, then the wait was so long I did order another one. It finally came with the food, all in all we were there 2hours for lunch. Good menu, just don't go with a group! and also they added 18% to the bill. read more

Unfortunately I have to leave what some may view as a bad review. From my experience personally I called and ordered over the phone an order of chicken and waffles I was told it would be 15 minutes at about 10:30. I left my house at 10:50 and got there by 11. When I walked in, two of their employees walked past without greeting me, the hostess told me that I must go to the bar to pick up my food which was not a big deal for me. I then went to the bar and talked to another lady and she told me that I have to wait for the bartender to finish doing what he was doing so that I could pay for my food. When the bartender finally got done dealing with what he was doing because he was busy making drinks he told me that my food was still not ready. For me I don't understand why it has to be a bartender that helps me cash out when everybody in the restaurant is capable of cashing anybody out so for me that type of customer service lost some points for me. Shortly after I was told by another man that the food was actually being bagged up and he'll go get it so I thought I had hope, he returned with my food in his hand. He tied it up without packaging everything and he got distracted with another customer before handing me my food and cashing me out. I had to wait for his entire conversation to end with the other customer just so that he could tell the bartender that my food was there and that he could cash me out. I don't understand what it is about this bartender, but he must be the best cash handler in the business. After having my food held hostage, I looked inside only to see that the portion for my potatoes looked a little small. I don't like to complain so I left I paid and it was $16.96. I gave the bartender a tip because I felt like he was working hard. I got home and then decided to eat now this is where I guess the review gets a little worse. I first tried this the small portion of potatoes that I was given, and it did not meet expectations. I asked for my potatoes to be cooked well done they were lightly cooked and others were done past well done the texture tasted like wet paper towel. The flavor was OK. I give the potatoes a 5 out of 10. The chicken looked amazing. The outside looked very crispy. It looked like it was flavorful. It was a dark brown color like how you like your fried chicken. When I bit into it, I was definitely taken aback. This chicken reminded me of a frozen Parmesan chicken that you would cook, but instead of putting it in the oven or microwave you fried it. The flavor didn't seem like it was seasoned. The texture was good but overall the chicken was not good without the hot honey sauce and even the hot honey sauce was very watery in its consistency. I give the chicken a 4.5 out of 10 and I gave the hot honey sauce at 7 out of 10. Now the waffle, it was absolutely not good at all, the texture of the waffle was probably the same as wet cardboard. One side was completely soggy, and the top was barely crispy at all. Everybody likes the waffle different, if you like a very soft and mushy, but yet chewy waffle, this might be for you, but for me this was the worst textured waffle I've had from eating out in a while. I guess the portion sizes weren't so bad but knowing that I could go elsewhere and spend $17 and get so much more food that would probably be cooked the correct way that I wanted it kinda left me feeling a little bummed out. Overall, customer service was about a 5. I will give them the benefit of the doubt they were a little busy. It is overly crowded inside the restaurant because it is so small and they try to fit as many tables as they can. I understand it may be a business move, but it's definitely not comfortable in there. The food overall probably about a 5 or 4.5 as well. Would I go back? Probably to try to give them a second chance, but I would never order the chicken and waffles ever again. I've eaten countless brunches in this building, and I'm glad to find that French Toast Bistro is going to provide excellent food so I can continue to walk to this nearby location. They have decorated the inside in a clean and unique way. Very nice atmosphere. My home away from home is New Orleans, so I was hesitant to compare. I got the hash, and the flavors were spot on, but not terribly authentic to New Orleans. But that's ok!!! Good tasting food is always a treat! read more
