Great food and service and server was nice... Funny, though, that there was no dessert... And sadly, the music there, I didn't mind, wasn't someone in my party's cup o' tea... We had chicken schwarma, chicken sandwich, lamb shank sandwich, and salad--and it was all good... -- Dave read more

Date night: intimate but not dark, takes reservations & has great menu. $$$ Happy hour: 1/2 of their two drafts, small appetizers but the happy burger is 10/10, $9 spritz options which is slightly unique Groups: wouldn't recommend a group larger than 6 here. Service was cool from kate & Teegan read more

Our server was super nice and great at her job! She was attentive and clearly busy running around to many tables. Happy hour has great prices and quite a few options. The ribs were amazing. The meat fell off the bone and the sauce was delicious. I've been wanting to try the beet burger for years and finally got around to it... I wouldn't get it again. While the texture was great, it just didn't have much flavor. It was good enough, especially if you don't eat meat and want a sandwich, but I was hoping it would be more flavorful. Even a little more salt would've brought the flavor out a bit. The toasted cheese and tomato soup is amazing! Simple and delicious. The restaurant is clean, well lit, and well decorated. Love the little patio area. Overall, we love this place! read more

I went here today with a large group of fellow brunches. It was my first time going, and it was very good. The service was excellent! I had the Kokkoras Nest with cheddar instead of feta. I liked it, but I wish the egg had been runny. Mine had a tiny bit of runniness to it, but not enough. I made the assumption that it would be over-easy, but I guess I should have requested that. It definitely needed the yolk as some kind of sauce. But otherwise, I thought it was really good. I also had the fried potatoes, which were excellent! read more

It has been a while since I have had a meal that was as well prepared as dinner tonight. We had the specials, frogs legs & yellowfin tuna, as well as the risotto. The care & skill that went into the food was extraordinary! The service was attentive without being fussy. The drinks were absolutely delicious! We will be back! read more

You know how you ride by a place all the time and you say to yourself, that looks cool, I'd like to try it there, but you never do. Well, they've been open since 2013 and we finally paid a visit to Republica! It was absolutely delicious from start to finish. We started out with three different appetizers, the feta fries, shrimp, and a sausage dish. All three were unique and delicious. I can't even say I have a favorite because they were all so good. We also tried a number of cocktails, including the house infused vodka, which was excellent!! The salads and burgers were fresh and flavorful. I cannot wait to go back. Highly recommend!!! read more

My friends and I meet monthly for lunch. Today we chose Republica for our lunch spot and had the best time. We ordered salads, which were very fresh, delicious and plentiful. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the waitress was friendly and accommodating. We stayed for quite a long time but didn't feel rushed to leave by the staff. We will definitely return. read more

Was there for Friday night dinner recently. The service was incredibly slow and from the time we ordered it was nearly an hour before the received our food. My burger was horribly dry and overcooked and was served to me without the pickles or the spicy mayo. I asked for well done fries but they were cold and soggy instead. This is my second bad experience at Republica and will not be dining there again. Also they are constantly changing the menu so if you plan to go there because you previously ate something you enjoyed it's likely not even going to be on the menu anymore. read more

I don't know. Maybe it's me, but this is not what a 4.0 should be. It is a three at best. We came here after a Tiger's game, to have a light dinner and a drink. The gin/tonic, white wine, draft beer and strawberry mint drink were all kind of ordinary--nothing stood out. The baked goat cheese appetizer was ok, not amazing. The fish and chips were ok--again not great. Two people got salads and said they were good. Service was casual and the place was not busy. Overall it was fine. Nothing objectional but nothing compelling. There are a lot of restaurants around and I have no reason to go back. read more

Always have delicious food here and staff is always friendly. The inside is cozy and has lots of hockey memorabilia. If you sit out front in the summer it does get a little noisy with the traffic from the road, but it's a nice patio area. Some items I always love to order- would DEFINITELY get the pita bread- so fluffy, salty mmm we love it. the BLT pasta , the salmon, the hot honey chicken sandwich. And if they haven't run out of cake- they make it fresh and it is so delicious - we've had the banana cake and coconut cake and they're so good. You can even call and order a whole cake for a special event (pricy but so delicious)! read more

We had a reservation, showed up on time and were told it would be 30 minutes before we would be seated. There was an open 2 top and seats at the bar neither of which were offered as options. We left and won't be back. read more

Visiting my sister in Detroit and discovered Republica in my search for a gastropub with healthy food choices with good microbrews on tap. This was my top pick. I had a beet burger and it was yummy. The beer was good too, an IPA. I wanted to get the 10th anniversary roasted cauliflower but we were full.. Great place, I'll go back when I visit again. Thanks for making things for health nuts like me. . read more

I popped in Republica for the first time ever. It's was Lent and lunch time so I went with the Greek salad and tomato soup. The soup was yummy. It tasted homemade and a lot like my marinara sauce. I liked the dressing for the salad as well and I'm quite particular about dressing. The waitress was sweet as pie too! Solid 4 stars. It's not a large space so plan for that. read more

Another place too popular for its own good and tries too hard to be trendy for those of us out of their normal demographics and have eaten at much better places for over 30 years. Heard lots of good things and so have my dinning group. Hardy enough parking for the business but I got a place on the street. Very full and even with reservations had to wait. Too noisy to hear people at the other end of table. We started with brussel sprouts appetizer and chip and dip appetizer. Both had stuff left which is not normal for our group. Both not normal served at other places. I decided to try something different since you don't find a sloppy joes on most menu. I was warned by the waitress that the tots were different with cheese in them. Looked like hush puppies but tasted AWFUL even covered in catsup. The joe left an after taste that was not pleasant. I took part of them home but threw them away. The meatloaf was delicious I was told and the fish not bad but the salad was just as much as a "winner" like my choice. Service was what you expect from a place this busy. I don't plan to come back as part of my group. read more

Such a cute place off of Coolidge in Berkley. They have a wide selection on their menu from shareables to pasta to burgers to soup and salad. Decided to try out the roasted beet and arugula salad. I added salmon for protein and let me tell you, it was delicious! The salmon was cooked perfectly, the arugula has a nice peppery bite with the sweet balsamic vinaigrette and tangy blue cheese crumbles. The wait staff were super friendly and attentive. read more

This was a special event dinner for us. With the knowledgeable guidance of our awesome server, we started with a specially made Valentine vodka martini. We moved on to a fantastic garlic roasted cauliflower with a lovely walnut butter. Our entrees were well proportioned, super fresh, heavenly taste explosions. We ordered the salmon and the shrimp entrees and could not have been happier. Super delish!!! We saved room for a warm slice of cherry pie ala mode. A final blessing of this heavenly meal, the owner graced us with a lagniappe taste of two spirited balms, one honey and one clove. Thank you for a beautiful experience. And with special cheers to mom! read more

First off, service was great. Attentive and quick. We sat on the patio, which had great shade and a nice breeze. We ordered the fried green beans, Veggie Wedgie salad, beet burger, mint limeade, and a side of mac and cheese. The green beans and mint limeade were good, and toddler-approved. But after that, the food is a bit disappointing. The wedge salad seemed super overpriced for what it was and the beet burger tasted like nothing. I was excited for a bright pink earthy burger with delicious feta topping, but the burger was just brown mush. I could barely taste the beet and the sauce had very little feta. The mac and cheese was fine, but nothing special. I'm not sure we would go back for anything more than drinks and apps. read more

2.5 stars. It wasn't too busy on a Thursday evening. Food was okay--not too memorable. Not likely to return.

This is such a great local spot for good food without being overrun with people and super loud. Such a hidden gem and the people are always great. Good wine, great spot for happy hour and awesome menu options. read more

The service was not very attentive. Not very friendly and the focus was on closing the place, even though they didn't close for 90 minutes. The place was small and eclectic. The burger was average. The fries were excellent. The side of spaghetti squash marinara was the best thing we had and was very very good. The chicken sandwich was simply not good. It was difficult to eat. One half had half of the toppings and the other the other half. You could never get a bite with all of the ingredients at once, so the ability to taste the actual sandwich wasn't possible unless you deconstructed and rebuilt the sandwich. read more

The food was quite tasty. The marinara sauce for the chicken Parmesan dish was excellent. Wasn't a fan of the pepita crusted coating on the chicken but that's just me. Everything else was great. The iced tea is real brewed iced tea. Amazing! The brisket burger was delicious. Hubby ate it all up. And the onion rings. Which he pronounced excellent also. And the coleslaw was tasty. Republica is amazinggg! Some of the best ribs I've had and the OG Mitch's bread is to die forrrr. Need to go back ASAP!

We met another couple here for dinner and for a Friday evening it wasn't crazy busy upon arrival. We got a table on the patio and were given waters from the bar to take with us. Within a few minutes, our server was there to check in. We ordered drinks, the couple got wine and my husband and I got mixed drinks. All the drinks were good and appropriately strong. I did feel mine (fizzy cocktail) was a little small for the price, but it was delicious. We didn't wait long and the server was back for our food order. I got the sweet heat chicken sandwich. It was crispy, and the sauce on it was really yummy. I just wish It had more sauce, and I wish there was more cabbage. It needed a little something to make it special. The French fries were a hit at the table, and no one had any left. My husband got the chimichurri brisket sandwich. The sauce was again delish, and the meat was cooked well. The bread it was on made it a little difficult to bite, but it was an all in all good sandwich. All of us there said that the food was decent, drinks were good, and service was good. Am I going to go out of my way to have it again? Probably not. But if someone invited me I'm not turning it down. read more

Visited with family in late March this year. Nice natural lighting through the interior and ample outdoor seating. Though it was too cold at the time to be seated there. Creative menu where nothing disappointed. Interesting combinations between American/European cuisines that all complimented well. The drinks are equally creative, however that's where the positives stop for them. Some of the weakest drinks I've had in the state, by far. All north of teen dollar prices. Ambience is nice for such a small space, but noise is off the charts. Not a place to bring folks looking for a bit of quiet dining. More screaming kids than a family reunion. Some seating is so tight, servers are constantly bumping you. 3 for great food and ambience. -1 for noise and space -1 for drink value Fix these and I'd consider revisiting. read more

After looking for wedding dresses with my friend across the street we decided to visit Republica for dinner. I've heard great things about Republica and figured this was the perfect opportunity to try. The service was top knotch. The food and drinks came out fast and cooked to order. I started with the prairie sour beer, it was the perfect amount of sour without being overbearing. The Greek salad was larger than expected and the dressing was great. I took more than 1/2 of it home because I was expecting a side salad but it is the size of an entree salad. I ordered the all American burger with bacon. While it was seasoned well something was missing. The flavors didn't meld for some reason. The fries tasted as if they had been rewarmed. I enjoyed myself but if looking for a burger I would go somewhere else. read more

The place is small but the food is mighty. Going to add Republica to our monthly rotation going forward!

The bacon cheeseburger with egg is my absolute favorite!!!! The location is very cute and quaint.

Republica has always been consistent and is a great local joint. I do wish they would change the menu up a bit every so often based on the seasons (they've had almost the same menu for quite some time). The ribs are tender and fall off the bone if that's the type of rib you like. The sauce is good and reminds me a lot of Oxford In (if you spent time or grew up in the area, you know!). The Tomato Fennel Soup is one of my favorites, more like a bisque, but so warming. It was a tad on the salty side this last time, but the flavors were still there. My husband had the Philly Carne, and Queso enjoyed it but thought the cheese was a tad too spicy for his liking. But the Caramelized Pear, Sage, and Haloumi dish was outstanding. The flavors were perfect, and I could have eaten three more orders! Great ambiance with a cozy interior and outdoor patio. Service is always excellent! read more

Passing thru town, on our way to Royal Oak when we found Republica for dinner. Tiny place with a small parking lot, but the reviews and menu looked interesting. Looked like they had a menu we would both like. Seated promptly on an old church bench. It was comfortable enough. Tables are metal but the napkins are cloth. I really like that Republica appears to be socially conscious of their footprint. No straws, sustainably sourced ingredients, I saw little waste. The beer menu was chalked on the wall. Good selection at reasonable prices. I started off with a grapefruit Radler for $4. My hubs had a New Fashion. Idk what made it new but he enjoyed it. $12. We both ordered burgers. He had a traditional looking one with fries, while I ventured to The Julia. Lamb burger, goat cheese and onion jam with a side of asparagus. It was great. The asparagus was well-seasoned, and bun toasted. My hubs fries were thick. Real cut potatoes like the ones you get at the fair. Topped with malt vinegar, they made a tasty side. The small dining room filled up as we ate. The other dishes coming out of the kitchen left me jealous to try. The cauliflower and ribs looked amazing. Two meals and two drinks was $47+. Happy to support a small business with good sustainability and fantastic food. Definitely worth a try if you're looking for new American food. read more

Casual spot serving modern American cuisine. The place is cute and comfortable, perfect for a small group hangout. Staffs are friendly and service was pretty quicks. Of note, they have vegan/vegetarian options. We ordered Flower Roast, The Urban Farm, and the Beet Burger. The flower roast looks stunning, but the look amazes me more than the taste. It does NOT taste bad, but it just tastes like cauliflower. Maybe I was hoping for something more unique too. It's tender and well-cooked but could use more seasoning or sauce. I don't know what to make of the walnut paste on the side. It has the texture of ground meat. The Urban Farm sandwich was delicious, though. The bread was perfectly toasted. The eggplant and pepper blend was well-cooked, soft, and creamy. The crisp arugula gives a pleasant contrasting bitterness. The fries were ok. Overall the experience was ok. You can put it on your list as a reliable go-to place. read more

Yum! Stopped in for the Republica chop and wasn't disappointed. Fresh romaine, asparagus, goat cheese, walnuts, dried figs and grilled chicken are topped with a delicious balsamic vinaigrette. Bar seating was quick and easy. There's a nice covered patio, too, facing Coolidge, in addition to ample indoor tables. They don't take reservations, so if you want to enjoy dinner here around 6 pm be prepared to wait a while. There's always a nice selection of beer and cider on the chalkboard in addition to several interesting cocktails. Service was pleasant and welcoming. read more
