French onion soup

Really nice vibe. Staff could not be friendlier and more welcoming. Great menu. Beet salad was special and burgers were a standout. Fish and chips were also really good. More fish than breading --we will be back

Silton and Pear pizza.... Really good! Goat cheese wasn't strong which was good.

Food and ambiance was nice. Friendly staff too! Smash burger was juicy too. 6 big T.V.'s as well.

We had been watching this for a long time waiting for it to open. The place inside is beautiful. They really did a nice job on redecorating and changing things around to make an inviting warm comfortable atmosphere. The menu has lots of choices we went for the regular hamburger and the French onion burger. Seems to be the same burger with different toppings and different prices. They had a really good char flavor to them but if you don't like char, you really shouldn't get this burger cuz it's pretty strong. The drawback to this place would be for some people that the drink prices are extremely high. We went for lunch and we had two non premium beers and one was $7 and the other one was $7.50.

Incredible atmosphere with an authentic British pub feel. Everything we ordered was delicious, complemented by excellent drinks and top-tier service. This spot is definitely a must-visit!

Ok, so this is different. Royal Oak's latest brewpub is not more of the same. I went to Great Dane for lunch on a Thursday and was immediately impressed with its upscale interior design, brick walls, chandeliers, comfy booths--it feels more like a steakhouse or a grill at a country club than just another restaurant that serves burgers. The staff was dressed in uniforms and very well trained, polite, and attentive. They have a huge beer list, cocktail menu, and standard brewpub fare. I opted for a buffalo chicken sandwich with fries--my friend had a burger--and we were both impressed. The chicken breast on the sandwich was a very generous proportion, not heavily breaded, and I loved the sauce. The fries were crispy and there were plenty of them. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying the entrees. Definitely recommend it!

It was okay. Nothing exciting. Kind of pricy for what it is. Not bad, not great. Just okay.

The food was very good and some of it was exceptional. The poutine, the beet salad and the fig and pig plate showed skill and creativity.

Walking in, there was very limited seating and about an hour wait, which clearly showed how popular this spot is. Thankfully, the hostess told us about their basement bar area where you can grab drinks and snacks while waiting. The downstairs area had such a cool speakeasy vibe dark ambiance, vinyl music playing, and honestly the perfect date night atmosphere. The drinks were REALLY good, and you can also order appetizers down there. Once we made it upstairs, we grabbed bar seating and talked to a few people around us who all said this was their favorite spot. Our bartender was amazing -- super attentive, explained the menu well, and gave great recommendations. We ordered the wings (perfectly seasoned and so good) and the chicken sandwich with buffalo added for a little spice... absolutely delicious. I also tried the pistachio martini, and wow definitely one of my favorite drinks I've had in a while. Overall, such a great experience from the atmosphere to the food and service. I'll definitely be back, and I've already been telling all my friends about this place!

Then someone politely said y'all must be looking for downstairs. Sure were! As it turned out, we were escorted downstairs to what people refer to as the Vinyl Room. Parking was no problem as I was lucky to find metered parking just steps away from the front door. I walked in immediately taken with the charming decor and darkly lit romantic vibes, which is my favorite esthetic for any restaurant. The seating at the bar was yummy, thick comfy seats. The bartender greeted me warmly. He was cool and I hate that I didn't ask his name. He was attentive and masterful with the spirits. He asked if it was my first time, which it was, and since so, made me a tasty "welcome" drink with gin that was fantastic. I also ordered "the panty snatcher" a concoction of vodka, grapefruit, St Germain, rose water and orange. It was amazing. I will definitely be back for drinks. The drink menu is quite tempting. I had the Corn, Corn, Corn dish, which is polenta and corn kernels topped with popcorn. Yes, super unique and interesting. I had to try it. The popcorn was so light and flavorful straight out of the kitchen, but became chewy as it sat atop the piping hot polenta. I really enjoyed it however. Next time I'll eat all the popcorn first. I also had lobster dumplings, which was good but the dish wasn't cooked through. The filling wasn't hot and the pasta was very under on some bites. I was the first customer for the evening, so I can forgive that faux pas. I really enjoyed myself and I will return time and time again to try everything. The menu offers many things I love. Great concept. Cool vibes.

Walking in, the black and gold nuances strike you immediately and sitting at the bar, watching each drink being made is really quite fun. Their cocktail menu is absolutely spectacular. What a wide range of choices with all the major types of liquor available in one form or another. My bartender developed the program and she was super knowledgeable about it. I didn't try any of the food, so I can't comment on that, but for a pre or post dinner cocktail, I can definitely say this was an awesome spot to come out to.

Just one burger option and limited toppings. Server was very nice but didn't write down the order, and when it came my burger was missing the cheese and onion. I wasn't sure if they would take it back or what so I didn't eat anymore and it took her a decent amount of time to come and check on us after we got our food. I let her know what was missing and she said it was her fault and asked if I wanted it fixed. I said yeah and she went and got a cold piece of cheese and slice of onion and put it on a plate and gave to me to put on my own burger. I'd expected a little bit better service and I'm certainly not someone who demands top tier service from every spot. Fries were crispy but needed some parm or an aioli sauce to dip in. Also minor note but I had some fries left on my plate and when she came to collect plates I had food in my mouth so I couldn't say anything but she took the plate and my fries! They should always ask if there's any food left on the plate. Burger was decent overall, but definitely nothing special. Environment was cool and I'm sure they have got some other delicious items on the menu but for the price paid and service received, I'd go somewhere else next time.

From the second we walked in, the bartender greeted us like we were regulars, and that alone sold us on sitting at the bar. Best decision. We're bar sitters through and through, and between the bartender, a friendly regular who scooted over for us, and literally every person we interacted with, the vibe was unmatched. I worked in the service industry in a former life, so I know how rare it is to find a place where everyone is friendly. There's usually at least one Debbie Downer. Not here. No rushing, great recommendations, and zero feeling like you're "that couple" taking up bar space. Drinks and beer selection were solid, but let's talk food because ambiance and service are only half the equation. We started with the coney dog egg rolls and... wow. Epic. Unique. Immediately set the bar high. Then we ordered the fish and chips and the short rib sandwich. The fish was perfectly breaded, the remoulade was on point, and those skinny fries were dangerous. But the star of the show? The short rib sandwich. Holy shit. I don't normally eat onions or horseradish, but somehow this sandwich converted me. The caramelized onions weren't overpowering, the sauce wasn't spicy, and everything just worked. We literally woke up the next morning talking about how we need it again. The bartender filled us in on happy hour and all the food options, and we're already planning our return. Total hidden gem on Woodward. Highly recommend. Thanks for a great Saturday night!
