Every time I am in Birmingham, Michigan, Market North End is always a staple. While we waited awhile for a table (large party), it was worth the wait. The house bread is a must order. The service is slow, so never be in a rush. Food comes quickly once you are able to order. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. You can expect large portions that are perfect for sharing or enjoying by yourself. The homemade ranch is a must order for whatever you choose to get. Its in the perfect location and the best area for walking around and shopping. My group arrived around 7:00 p.m., put our name on the waitlist, and were told it would be about a 30-minute wait. There were multiple open tables when we arrived, so that estimate seemed reasonable. Instead, we waited until nearly 9:00 p.m. During that time, we went up to the hostess stand several times to ask for an update, and every single time we were told that we were "next." Yet we continued to watch numerous other parties get seated ahead of us. As the only white group waiting, it left us feeling like we were being treated differently. I can't say for certain why we were repeatedly passed over, but the experience made us feel unwelcome, especially after watching so many other groups be seated while we were continually told we were next. This is particularly frustrating because this isn't the first time I've felt this way at Market North End. I've continued to come back because the food is genuinely very good, but great food isn't enough to make up for feeling ignored and disrespected as a customer. This is consistent with all of the rumors we have heard about this restaurant being unfair to certain races. No one should have to wait an hour and a half while being repeatedly assured they're next, only to watch other parties be seated instead. I hope management takes a serious look at how the waitlist is managed and ensures that every guest is treated fairly and consistently. read more

We ordered 1 pasta pesto chicken entree, 1 greek salad and 2 arugula, beet, chicken and goat cheese salads. Food wasn't too bad. We ordered the Spaghettini, it was supposed to have pine nuts, none. The waitress was very flat, seemed to be having a crap day. She took our order, after we sat for some time without being acknowledged. Brought our pop, didn't pre bus, left all the dirty glasses and dishes at the table. The salt shaker was all clumped up, and the salt was "wet". Someone else bright all the food, server never even acquired as to how our food was. Amazing spot! Service was wonderful, we had a quaint table and (until 2 large tables of children arrived) it was the perfect vibe to chat with friends. Table was comfortable and they have heaters so it definitely seems like a winter option. There are booths inside that look perfect for a group meal. Reservations recommended! I intended to have salad but could not resist the Garlic soup and House bread. Going back for both...and the 3 Green Cesar. My friend had orange chicken which was also very yummie! I've been a customer here for years and have generally been understanding when service is not perfect. I know busy days happen and restaurants can be understaffed. However, my experience on a Friday afternoon was unacceptable! Not only because my new Prada bag was damaged, but because of the way the situation was handled afterward. My friend and I were seated at a very small table, which was manageable, though there was nowhere safe to place my purse. When the waiter cleared our dishes, he appeared rushed and handled the plates carelessly, allowing oil to splash onto my bag. The bag is a delicate leather-and-suede combination, and the oil altered the texture and caused permanent damage. Instead of taking responsibility and responding professionally, I was given club soda and baking soda and was left trying to blot oil from an expensive bag at the table. The waiter was not apologetic. While I was speaking with the hostess, I heard him snicker to the bartender and say " "$3000 for a bag" in a very condescending tone. This felt dismissive and he was basically mocking me.. For the record the bag was $2300 , and was recently purchased. I brought the bag to Prada, and they confirmed that it cannot be repaired because of the type of leather and suede involved. Offering to pay for dry cleaning does not resolve permanent oil damage when no cleaner can restore the bag. The manager, David, acknowledged that they were understaffed but essentially told me that it was an accident and "things happen." Accidents do happen--but a business's response, accountability, and empathy are what matter afterward. I was told to email the owners, yet I have received no response. I am disappointed by the lack of care, accountability, and basic courtesy shown after a staff member damaged my personal property. Guests should be able to enjoy a meal without leaving with an irreparably damaged item and feeling as though their concerns are being mocked or ignored. Great dinner at this trendy restaurant!! Reservations are a good idea because it's small. We had them and were seated immediately. Good cocktail menu. My friend is pregnant and asked for a mocktail...they have a choice of two and the one she received was very good. I had the lamb burger with sweet potato fries. The burger was excellent! Enjoyable place to visit especially on a nice warm day when they have it opened up. The flow of fresh air makes this a nice destination. Came here around 6:45pm on a Tuesday and we were able to be seated immediately. Place is very cute and was buzzy even on a weeknight. Service was friendly and the pacing of the food was perfect, our mains came out just as we were wrapping up with our appetizers. We split a few dishes, starting with the chopped salad and the house bread. House bread is realistically a bit overpriced at $9 but everything else was very reasonable. Salad was good but a bit one-dimensional. We also got the cauliflower (decent, but missing something - a squeeze of lemon could have gone a long way). The buttermilk chicken sandwich ($19) was delicious but the fries were just okay. Portions of everything were large. Bill was very reasonable. Market rocks. Have had many menu items over the years with favorites being any of the pizzas, the chicken wings, and the star of this review, the milanese chicken sandwich. This is one of the greatest sandwiches I've ever had. Perfectly cooked fried chicken (healthy portion size too) on this pizza bread. Add some cheese and dressed greens and you got yourselves an amazing sandwich. Go to Market. Order some wings (partial to cajun) and get the milanese chicken sandwich. Terrible. I placed a carry out online through their website, placed the order, paid, then a message pops up that says sorry we aren't accepting orders at this time. But they charged my card and took the money but didn't give me food or process the rest of the order. I've had Market North End on my list of "must check out" since we moved here, and it's been nearly 2 years and I finally remembered and I'm kicking myself for not going sooner! This place is a GEM!!! We ventured in on a quiet Thursday, our first restaurant of 2025! I was so excited because my dad was in town for the holidays and I really wanted to take him somewhere phenomenal. All the reviews were SPOT ON and did NOT disappoint. We were instantly greeted by the poshest front desk hostess (so immaculately dressed in the cutest Sherpa moto jacket - I was smitten the moment I saw her) who was so warm and inviting. I came in with my two kids first (my husband and father joined us later) and she instantly sat us away from the crowds and in an intimate nook so my kids were free to roam and play while we waited for our food. So considerate. Our waiter was equally as friendly and so attentive! I forget his name but he had the kindest smile and was so adorable! He had the best food recommendations for us, and everything he suggested was fantastic. Despite going back and forth on what dish to order, I didn't feel rushed and he was very patient with our two kids and their raucous energy. Now, the FOOD!! Dear sweet baby Jesus - it was all AMAZING. We had the calamari w/ shrimp and please do NOT sleep on this app. The marinara sauce was delicious enough to drink. And the calamari was perfect and not rubbery at all. The shrimp was a nice surprise. We also had the Brussels sprouts and the sweet and spicy sauce was a nice balance. My kids ordered the Detroit style pizza (half pep and cheese) and - dare I say - it was even better than Buddy's my kids were blown away. I had the crispy chicken sandwich (although I hate fried chicken, weird I know) I was compelled to order it because the description was so tempting. I wasn't disappointed! So tender and juicy, and there was a slight honey aftertaste that I still can't stop thinking about. My husband had the lamb burger that was cooked to perfection and so delicious. The atmosphere was very loud, and it's only Wednesday, so I can only imagine how the weekends could get. If you want a quiet evening, my guess is, this isn't the place. Born and raised down here, I was excited to be back although so much of Bham has changed. Waahhh!! We walked in yesterday to grab a quick bite. Sat for 15 minutes before we were acknowledged. Yes they were busy for a Thursday at 3:30-4 but we were at a table that everyone walked passed- in the way-- if you will. I think that soured me. I seen 6 different servers and a manager and not one stopped to see if he had been helped. Nonetheless, finally ordered. House bread was best. Nothing comes out hot, just warm. The speed that which they came, coupled with the warmth of my dishes-- they had to be done in large batches and kept under a warmer. Nothing seemed fresh if that makes sense. Another thing, this is Birmingham I expect the restaurant to be kept up. The restaurant is dated and the baskets they have as lights are all askew. Oh my goodness, this place is so good! I think this is our favorite place my partner and I have discovered since moving to Michigan. On our first visit we were there on a Friday evening and were just going to have cocktails. Cute little restaurant & bar in the heart of downtown Birmingham. This little restaurant is pretty cool. They offer a great bite to eat and drinks to make for a great evening with your significant other or a group of people. It's pretty dark in here, but the ambience lighting makes it look pretty cool inside. The restaurant seems like a narrow hallway but it goes back pretty far. We've been in here a few times in the evenings and it gets pretty jammed after 7pm, so plan accordingly! It'll get really loud too inside. read more

We tried a few things for the table: house bread, garlic chicken soup, chick pea soup, kale salmon salad, and arugula potatoes. I also got Brussel sprouts, which were covered in sweet chili oil, maybe like 1 cup. If the oil was drizzled on, it would have been good but sweet Lord it was a lot. My friend got the chicken, which had been cooked within an inch of disintegration. The waitress took off the chicken, as well she should have. It was just ok for me.
