Salt shaker and mess left on my table at the end of the meal.
    Susan B.

Food wasn't too bad. We ordered the Spaghettini, it was supposed to have pine nuts, none. The waitress was very flat, seemed to be having a crap day. She took our order, after we sat for some time without being acknowledged. Brought our pop, didn't pre bus, left all the dirty glasses and dishes at the table. The salt shaker was all clumped up, and the salt was "wet". Someone else bright all the food, server never even acquired as to how our food was. Long story short, we didn't get what the menu said we would and the service was horrible.

This is how it dried this cannot be repaired

I've been a customer here for years and have generally been understanding when service is not perfect. I know busy days happen and restaurants can be understaffed. However, my experience on a Friday afternoon was unacceptable! Not only because my new Prada bag was damaged, but because of the way the situation was handled afterward. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My friend and I were seated at a very small table, which was manageable, though there was nowhere safe to place my purse.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When the waiter cleared our dishes, he appeared rushed and handled the plates carelessly, allowing oil to splash onto my bag. The bag is a delicate leather-and-suede combination, and the oil altered the texture and caused permanent damage. Instead of taking responsibility and responding professionally, I was given club soda and baking soda and was left trying to blot oil from an expensive bag at the table. The waiter was not apologetic. While I was speaking with the hostess, I heard him snicker to the bartender and say " "$3000 for a bag" in a very condescending tone. This felt dismissive and he was basically mocking me.. For the record the bag was $2300 , and was recently purchased. I brought the bag to Prada, and they confirmed that it cannot be repaired because of the type of leather and suede involved. Offering to pay for dry cleaning does not resolve permanent oil damage when no cleaner can restore the bag. The manager, David, acknowledged that they were understaffed but essentially told me that it was an accident and "things happen." Accidents do happen--but a business's response, accountability, and empathy are what matter afterward. I was told to email the owners, yet I have received no response. I am disappointed by the lack of care, accountability, and basic courtesy shown after a staff member damaged my personal property. Guests should be able to enjoy a meal without leaving with an irreparably damaged item and feeling as though their concerns are being mocked or ignored. I have attached the photos of the oil damaged one of them is about 8 hours after so this is essentially how it dried.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great dinner at this trendy restaurant!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Reservations are a good idea because it's small. We had them and were seated immediately. Good cocktail menu. My friend is pregnant and asked for a mocktail...they have a choice of two and the one she received was very good. I had the lamb burger with sweet potato fries. The burger was excellent! A block of feta on it!! The fries were ok. I'd order them well done next time. A little limb. My friend had the Halibut with rice. Very good. We had the crispy shrimp and calamari app. Perfect!! I'll be back!!

Came here around 6:45pm on a Tuesday and we were able to be seated immediately. Place is very cute and was buzzy even on a weeknight. Service was friendly and the pacing of the food was perfect, our mains came out just as we were wrapping up with our appetizers. We split a few dishes, starting with the chopped salad and the house bread. House bread is realistically a bit overpriced at $9 but everything else was very reasonable. Salad was good but a bit one-dimensional. We also got the cauliflower (decent, but missing something - a squeeze of lemon could have gone a long way). The buttermilk chicken sandwich ($19) was delicious but the fries were just okay. Portions of everything were large. Bill was very reasonable. I probably wouldn't rush back for any of the food, to be honest, but the vibes were nice. Maybe a good spot for a drink/app before getting dinner elsewhere.

Food is always amazing here. Fave items are the chopped salad, bread app, pizza, fried chicken sandwich, and salmon with avocado and onions. So basically everything

I've had Market North End on my list of "must check out" since we moved here, and it's been nearly 2 years and I finally remembered and I'm kicking myself for not going sooner! This place is a GEM!!! We ventured in on a quiet Thursday, our first restaurant of 2025! I was so excited because my dad was in town for the holidays and I really wanted to take him somewhere phenomenal. All the reviews were SPOT ON and did NOT disappoint. We were instantly greeted by the poshest front desk hostess (so immaculately dressed in the cutest Sherpa moto jacket - I was smitten the moment I saw her) who was so warm and inviting. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I came in with my two kids first (my husband and father joined us later) and she instantly sat us away from the crowds and in an intimate nook so my kids were free to roam and play while we waited for our food. So considerate.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our waiter was equally as friendly and so attentive! I forget his name but he had the kindest smile and was so adorable! He had the best food recommendations for us, and everything he suggested was fantastic. Despite going back and forth on what dish to order, I didn't feel rushed and he was very patient with our two kids and their raucous energy. Now, the FOOD!! Dear sweet baby Jesus - it was all AMAZING. We had the calamari w/ shrimp and please do NOT sleep on this app. The marinara sauce was delicious enough to drink. And the calamari was perfect and not rubbery at all. The shrimp was a nice surprise. We also had the Brussels sprouts and the sweet and spicy sauce was a nice balance. My kids ordered the Detroit style pizza (half pep and cheese) and - dare I say - it was even better than Buddy's my kids were blown away. I had the crispy chicken sandwich (although I hate fried chicken, weird I know) I was compelled to order it because the description was so tempting. I wasn't disappointed! So tender and juicy, and there was a slight honey aftertaste that I still can't stop thinking about. My husband had the lamb burger that was cooked to perfection and so delicious. My father had the trout with the avocado slaw. Seriously - we had ourselves a MEAL, ya'll. I'm still thinking about it. We will definitely be returning. The combination of stellar service and excellent food will keep Market North End at the top of our "go to" restaurant list forever. Don't even bother with the other restaurants in Birmingham, because Market North End is THE ONE

Had a good experience at the market. It was packed when my friend and I arrived on a Wednesday evening but we got a table right away somehow. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere was very loud, and it's only Wednesday, so I can only imagine how the weekends could get.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]If you want a quiet evening, my guess is, this isn't the place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My friend and I shared Brussels sprouts, a Caesar salad, a pizza, and chocolate butter cake. Pizza had sooo much flavor. The cake was moist, buttery and warm. Sweet but not too sweet. Everything was delicious. Our cocktails were also great. Will definitely be back.

It has been a hot minute since I was here and I'm not sure why I've been away so long! Food truly blew me away for the price point- some of the newer Birmingham spots have me expecting to be gouged for just OK food but I ordered the Branzini and it was fab! ($40 at Mex, $25 here) You should NEVER skip the bread service ($9 and sooooo worth it) but here are a few other surprises: Garlic Soup (comes out looking like French onion only prettier) was so good my friend said she's coming back just for that! Watermelon, feta & mint salad meant for sharing but finished solely by me! Tuna app can be a meal! Service was fantastic- so many places in town have unhappy staff (which points to very poor mgmt) but the vibe was light & comfortable here

    Olivia A.

Never had a bad experience. Everything is amazing from the pizzas to the pastas to the salads. Apple walnut salad and watermelon salads are my fav, but all are great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Busy atmosphere and nice ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Great service and staff.

Elie's was the perfect place to grab a drink and some dinner after a travel day and to fuel for a big weekend ahead. We ordered some drinks (wine and martinis) and shared the Mixed Appetizer plate that had hummus, baba ghannouge, and tabouli and was served with a basket of warm mini pita bread. Our waitress was attentive and refilled the pita basket a couple of times and so was the water service. For entrees, I had the lebanese salad with salmon, and others at the table had the fattoush salad with chicken, baby back ribs, and chicken shawarma. It was a lot of food and we did not finish it all... and while it was very good, nothing stood out as something you can't find elsewhere either. No complaints however. I would definitely recommend Elie's if you're in the area and looking for a solid bar/restaurant with Lebanese and Mediterranean cuisine. Elie's offers both indoor and outdoor seating and they also host private parties and offer catering. It is clearly a neighborhood favorite and has been around for decades.

We were there at noon. 3 went for lunch and quickly got a table (not too many patrons; clue #1). Ordered a large tomato kibbeh ($22), mjadara ($20), 2 pita sandwiches ($9 each). 1 small bread basket, never refilled. The sandwiches were a little dry so we asked for a little garlic sauce. A small (maybe 2 tablespoons) ramekin was $6! We ordered 3 cokes ($3). When we asked for a refill they took our same glasses and returned with a refill. When we looked at the bill we were charged for every refill, aka $3+$3. IF you're charging me for a refill PLEASE bring me a fresh glass AND a heads-up that I'm actually purchasing another beverage. Service was basically nonexistent. We had to ask a busser for anything we needed. Ellie's - you really need to pay attention. There is a lot of competition in Birmingham.

We stopped by 2941 Street Food in Royal Oak and ordered a mini Honest Bowl since we were short on time. I went with basmati rice, zaatar steak, fresh cucumber, signature hummus, lemon vinaigrette, and sunflower seeds -- and it all came together beautifully. The steak was seasoned well, the hummus added creaminess, and the lemon vinaigrette brought a fresh brightness that tied everything together. Even as a mini bowl, it was filling. They also have their ingredients and allergy information posted in-store, which I really appreciate. It makes navigating gluten-free options easier. My bowl ingredients are generally gluten-free, but if you're highly sensitive or have celiac, it's always smart to double-check with staff about marinades or dressings. The space isn't dedicated gluten-free, but having the information visible is a big plus. The restaurant was clean, calm, and welcoming. Staff was polite, friendly, and professional -- which made the whole experience feel smooth and easy. I'd absolutely recommend it for a fresh, balanced, customizable lunch in Royal Oak.
