I'm in town visiting my mom. My friend since high school lives across the street from this place. My mom loves my friend and wanted me take her out on her. We choose Grape Leaves because of convenience, but she also does carry out from here quite often. There were not many people in the restaurant and you could tell that they do a very good carry out business by the to go bags waiting on the counter. She had the shish tawook dinner (chicken) and I had a wrap with grape leaves, Jonas, and tabbouleh. It was like having a trio appetizer all in one, and it wasn't a bad concept. For just $7.50, I was only able to eat half, and had the other half for lunch the next day. My friend had leftover chicken too, which I took to my mom in her senior living place the next day. They did forget to take off the beets (on the receipt, but that's OK. MY mom likes beets! Overall, an enjoyable meal with a great friend. read more

This place was a welcomed surprise! Located in a non descriptive strip mall with plainly decorated interior. The food made up for it all Legitimate flavors and options abound in their menu I was extremely pleased. I live nearby Grape Leaves Troy location and order carry out quite often. The food is fresh and delicious every time. I cook most of the time at home but when we order carry out my family always requests Grape Leaves. Our usual orders are Chicken Ghallaba Hummus, Chicken Shawarma sandwiches and grape leaves. Have had this a couple times already: take out for lunch and dinner and dine-in lunch. Each and every time was delicious. The service was quick and orders were complete. Our favorites are the grape leaves and shwarma. We've had sandwiches and family combos. Love the hummus: creamy and not overly salty. The shwarma whether chicken, beef or lamb was well seasoned and tender. Our last visit we went for dine in lunch and had the Turkish coffee which was spiced with some cardamom. We ordered a whole pot which served probably 6-8 shots of coffee in the traditional "espresso" cups. We were well caffeinated for the rest of our work day. The staff are attentive and the price is right. When we've done take out the order is always ready when we arrive. Can't beat the easy in and out location at Maple and Coolidge. read more

I was craving a big salad and this place is close by and I was driving by so I decided to finally check it out. I ordered take out and got a small Greek salad amd lamb grape leaves (I can ALWAYS eat grape leaves ). Before I could even settle in my food was already ready! Awesome because I was starving! The grape leaves were nice and warm, although a little dry. The flavor was still pretty good. The 'small' salad is a pretty big size, I was pleasantly surprised! It's the BEST Greek salad I've had in a while! The dressing was the star, it was tangy and had great flavor woth herbs added, tastes like they make it in house. It was fresh and super crisp, I would just ask to add chickpeas and dressing on the side in case I can't finish it, as the salad came fully dressed. It was all served with their delicious warm, soft bread. My belly is full and I'm a happy girl! I'll definitely be back to try more! read more

Their food is excellent! My #1 favorite restaurant to go to. Even the little bread basket w/garlic sauce is amazing. We love their chicken dishes and the sautéed mushrooms or vegetable side dishes will not disappoint. They mainly seem to do a brisk business in takeout, but the dining room is nice for dining in, which we prefer. It's miles away, but worth it. read more

Food was excellent, but unfortunately the service was bad. We had to seat ourselves which was fine but that meant the staff needed to be on it with noticing if you came in. They have a doorbell that constantly chimes every second the door is open which got annoying after a while. Once seated, our bread came out but with nothing to go with it, so we asked for garlic sauce (note it is an up-charge). Bread was hot out of the oven and delicious. I got lentil soup with my meal which was a bit bland flavor/spice-wise. I ordered the chicken shawarma with hommous which was excellent and in a humongous portion so leftovers were taken home. We did not see the server at all once we got our food. We ran out of water and could not wave anyone down to get a refill. We finally caught the eye of a staff member for boxes, water, and our check. He requested cash for the tip so I luckily had some on me but when he brought my credit card back, he didn't bring a pen to sign. Good luck flagging him down again...I happened to have a pen in my bag to use instead. They had people ordering take out all night so if we ever eat here again, we'll just do takeout since the service wasn't great. read more

I stopped in after shopping at Premier Pet in Troy. Honestly l didn't know this was here. I was going to get a carryout and continue with my day. As I got to the back of the restaurant, I decided to stay and have a bite. Walking to the back, looking at the orders on the other diners tables, I was impressed. As I passed by the diners,I asked how the food was. The answer I got every time was Great with a big smile.The serving sizes are plentiful, the hummus looks smooth and creamy, the sandwiches are a nice size. I ordered a Fattoush salad with chicken shawarma (minus the toasted bread). The chicken isn't heavily spiced, just enough. The salad tastes fresh with just the right amount of lemon. I'm Lebanese, very picky when it comes to Mediterranean restaurants. I look forward to coming with friends and family, it's a great way to sample the menu. read more

If you love Mediterranean food, check this place out! My boyfriend is from Turkey and he has been missing authentic food a lot! They start off your meal with fresh baked bread that is amazing. We recommend getting the garlic spread and the baba Ghanoush. I had never had baba Ghanoush before but I highly recommend! We had the feta fattoush salad with chicken shawarma. The dressing is light and the veggies are fresh! My boyfriend has been talking about this sausage from home that he can't find here. He saw it on the menu and was ecstatic! It was the sujuk sandwich. I was here a while ago. I am always up for trying out any new middle eastern spot. I went with a friend for an early dinner. I got my fatoosh salad, hummus and chicken Tawook. My friend ordered a hummus and the chicken shawarma sandwich. My fatoosh wasn't bad, fresh, not the darker parts of the lettuce, but it was fine. My chicken was decent, a bit dry. My friend liked his shawarma sandwich, since it was packed full and then smothered it with hummus too. They do make their own fresh pita pockets here, a definite plus. I feel like a legit middle Eastern or Lebanese spot needs to have an oven for fresh pita to have a chance at succeeding at all, especially since people love their fresh bread. Did I get served leftovers? I came here on a Friday night and got the mixed meat platter with a side of hummus. The hummus was very good, but the bread was stale, not hot or fresh. There was a lot of meat -- some steak kabob, kafta kabob, and lamb shawarma. The kafta was bland and over cooked, the beef was ok, and the shawarma was fatty. Literally two pieces of vegetable on the platter -- a small piece of onion and a small carrot. (Was that there by accident?) Tons of rice--that was pretty decent. Service wasn't great. There was only one other table occupied. All of that cost me $26 plus tip. I would expect much better at that price. read more

Services was good. This please you can dine in or do a carry out. You got one of the platters because it was a cheaper option than order each person their own meal. Well we got a lot of freaken food. This place has really gone down.. the service and the food! The man was so rude we ordered 2 orders of chicken and hummus and he gave us 4 tiny stale pieces of bread. When we asked for more he was rude gave us 4 more tiny pieces. Then told us he would charge us for more which is fine but his tone was so rude. Our order was 40$ of hummus of course we wanted bread to eat it with. I didn't mention 3 days prior our carry out which included a Greek salad came without dressing. I should've trusted my instincts not to come back again after that. So after he was so rude I decided to say something about it and he didn't even apologize. It was the same person who took my order both times. Not to mention there was no one in the restaurant either time. This place is cheap and rude and stale. Save your money. New year, new me, writing reviews. Let's see how long this lasts. This was not our first visit. We're no strangers to Grape Leaves, having dined and ordered take out from here many times before. This was, however, our first visit since after the plaza was renovated. It's so much nicer the way the parking lot was reconfigured. You no longer have to cross the "street" to get to the restaurant. As for the food, Grape Leaves didn't disappoint. We got soups and split a fattoush salad with chicken. You can specify white or dark meat but you can't get both. The soups come in standard cup and bowl sizes but the cup is really a small bowl and the bowl is just a larger bowl, if that makes sense. The service was equally good. Our server was nice, genuinely friendly. Overall atmosphere was cozy and warm, likely from the large oven, baking the bread you know we all go there for. read more

Seat yourself. This restaurant is pretty busy during lunch tonight on a Saturday night not so much. We were craving some good hummus so we stopped by here tonight. The portions are pretty big so we tend to share our plates (chicken shawarma, tabouli salad) so this way w can try a little bit of everything. Their soup is really good tonight I tried their white bean soup I wanted to try something different besides the lentil soup glad I made the right choice. Here's a shocking surprise they have really good French fries here. What we like to do is dip it in garlic spread just try it your tastebuds won't regret it. Has anyone had guava before because there guava smoothie was super delicious. What I really like about this place is their fresh baked bread. I don't understand why they have these call buttons in every table but it doesn't work. And is it just me but why do the servers always look serious.
