Came here for a family birthday party and everything tasted delicious! We had to come promptly at 12 and leave by 3 because the restaurant closes to prepare for dinner at 3pm. There was plenty of parking at a nearby lot and since it was Sunday, meters in front of the restaurant were free! The interior was lovely, with a nice atmosphere featuring art and a few hanging Moroccan lamps. We had a selection of appetizers to start off with pita bread, then a choice of entrée: salmon, skirt steak, chicken tagine, or veg papardelle. I got the chicken tagine and my partner got the skirt steak. Everything was delicious! I think there was a slight miscommunication: i tried to explain i had a few allergies and for some reason my meal came without couscous, which they brought me later upon request. The tagine was very powerful, a bit too strong as it really soaks into the grains, but i still thought it was overall tasty. Skirt steak was very good too, and all the meals had a nice presentation. The fried cauliflower and fried zucchini chip appetizers were very tasty too! We ended the meal with a cake brought in from a bakery that the staff cut up and served along with prompt coffee and tea service. The women's bathroom had no toilet paper, no hand soap, and no paper towels - all of the dispensers were empty. The men's bathroom had an "out of order" sign on it, so using that wasn't an option. I alerted the man at the register, but when we left over an hour later, there was still no toilet paper, paper towels, or hand soap in the bathroom. Male employees from the kitchen had used that bathroom while we were dining. They could not have washed their hands in the bathroom - no soap, no paper towels, no toilet paper, men's bathroom out of order - and because it's an open kitchen, I could see that they returned to their cooking without washing their hands in the kitchen. This is beyond disgusting and it's a huge health code violation. I won't ever be back to Mezza. read more

The food would have been fantastic, however my fish (Wahoo) was raw and no one ever came back to the table. I would have liked a second glass of wine. My husband's tenderloin was excellent. I wish that I had ordered that. I left almost the entire fish on my plate, but the person clearing didn't even question it. Middle eastern restaurants are a dime a dozen where I live. This one is by far the best. The portions are huge, the kitchen seems relatively sanitary (you get a full view of the galley while waiting for your order) and the staff is friendly. So we ordered from here tonight via doordash - it's actually called Al Mazza on doordash, but same address, so I assume it's either the same restaurant or a ghost kitchen (ie same food). We got a 12-oz. tub of garlic with 12 small pitas ($12.99 but you do get a lot of food), and we each got a sandwich. I hate lettuce in sandwiches and this didn't have it, which was good. I also really liked the chopped pickles and garlic in my chicken tawook sandwich. It would've been about $30 but it was $25 with a doordash promotion; however, if we only got sandwiches I think it would've been about $15-16 which is reasonable. We were very hungry and looking for a place to eat on Southfield road, I remembered this seeing this place so we decided to give it a try. I'm so glad we did! We were welcomed upon arrival and asked to seat where we want. Our server who looked like was also managing this place was super nice and always smiling. He brought a warm bowl of delicious bread and garlic sauce which was super pungent and amazing. My hubby got chicken kabob with lentil soup, I had vegetable ghallaba with side salad. I also wanted to try their falafel so they brought me one piece at no charge. Hubby loved the chicken and soup (I tried the soup and it was good but you have and the lemon they give you, otherwise it's a little bland). My veggie ghallaba was good, the salad had great dressing and I loved the falafel. It was green inside as it should be and tasted very fresh and had a lot of flavor. Chicken had a great seasoning, juicy and perfectly cooked. I like how the lettuce is cut into smaller strips and not the 1 inch chunks you normally get. Would've preferred kalamata olives instead of black but still very good. The feta cheese was so flavorful, I hadn't tried one so good as that one. Even the beets tasted amazing. But I can grab my sandwich and get a bite in between...haha. Our server brought out fresh bread medallions and a plate of garlic sauce to eat while we waited for our food. I had to stop myself after one piece or I'd eat the whole basket. The hot bread fresh from the oven was so good with the fresh garlic sauce. The hummus was good, finely blended and smooth. The tabbouli was delicious and fresh, as if it was just made. Our food came out shortly after. The kafta was seasoned a bit too much for my taste, but my husband loved it. I enjoyed my sandwich, it was a bit smaller than I'd expected, but tasted great. The rice was good too. Overall, our meal was delicious and fresh, with plenty to eat and take home.
