Charlie's is by far our favorite diner spot in the area. It is consistent, quick and always hits the spot. We love their breakfast. Their staff goes above and beyond to make sure you have a good experience. One time they had a snafu with their potato source. Rather than serving me the different potatoes out right, the waiter let me know the situation and gave me the option to switch them out if I wanted. He made sure to check in on me and ensure I liked the potatoes / offered to switch them out if I wanted. You simply cannot go wrong with Charlie's. If I had a single complaint, it would be that they could use a larger diner, haha! Their food is fantastic. Truly. It's been such a long time since I could say it seems as though the chef actually enjoys cooking for others. We've been here at least three times now and every time they are bustling and still delicious. The food is always hot and fresh and full of flavor. Seriously. Every. Single. Thing. My favorite meal is the Crab Cake Benedict, smothered in Hollandaise sauce while my kiddos often pick the pancake and sausage/bacon meal. Rarely do we have leftovers because we simply devour it. Charlie's never disappoints, I have eaten here many many times and always loved everything. There biscuits and gravy are the best I've ever had in my life. The chicken dumpling soup is mouth watering and if you are lucky Maria ( the owner) has made rice pudding or bread pudding that day both are delicious. They offer many different soups with a different one dedicated to specific day. Among their other great soups that I love at Charlie's is the stuffed green pepper soup. This is a little establishment. The people are all so friendly. The waiter was very personable. My drink order was taken right away and my meal when he came back. The French onion soup was pretty good. It had a lot of cheese. The onion flavor could have been a little more but not bad. The Philly was huge. It is always prepared exactly like you requested. Medium rare arrives hot and nice and juicy and delicious! Want extra sour cream for your baked potato? Not a problem! They are well known by us local , frequent regulars that their cup of homemade soup ( four available daily) is bigger than any other restaurant 's bowl. These kind folks never skimp on be portions. My Chunky Monkey Waffle meal was one of the best waffles I've had. The staff was beyond attentive and do I even say, they appeared to enjoy working there? On top of everything I mentioned, the owner of the diner came around to us after our meal to check on us. I know that may not be uncommon for a lot of diners family-owned businesses, but they were packed on this late Sunday morning. It's alright, nothing to write home about. The special is a good deal with eggs, bacon, ham, sausage, toast, and pancakes for $10. Service was a little slow, but the place was pretty busy. The chicken noodle soup was good with the little noodles. The packet of oyster crackers was very tasty. The waffle with the strawberry syrup made it way too watery and soggy in the middle.
