Wanted something quick and convenient and close too. I never went to the KFC before this place popped here. Hoping this one stays a while. We ordered a large chicken Greek salad with no feta and a grilled chicken salad with no cheese or pitas for either salad. Bella took our order and checked us out too, she seemed warm and amiable. Total is $20.97. The salads looked packed. It's covered and smothered with a ton of chicken, doesn't look dry either, like our salad yesterday. The chicken was moist, had good flavor, all was good until I came across a decent sized piece of cartilage, it turned me off on the chicken immediately. I couldn't stomach anymore potential encounters of cartilage after that one piece. The lettuce is a mix mostly iceberg, some piece of romaine and spinach too. Their Greek dressing base seems to be a ranch, would have been good to know since I was avoiding dairy tonight, hence the salads with no cheeses on them. PThe only thing Greekesque about the dressing is the pink enhancement from the beets, it actually doesn't taste like any Greek dressing I have ever had any other Greek or coney place before. I ended up using the Newman's balsamic I had at home on my Greek dressing instead, wasn't ideal, but no dairy at least. My hubby said his grilled chicken salad was pretty good, but he didn't like the oddly sweet raspberry vinaigrette much. Their tomatoes, lettuce mix, cucumbers and red onions are all nice and fresh. Their protein portions are generous, had good flavor, just needs some work on trimming the less than desirable bits off of them. Their Greek dressing could taste more like a Greek dressing should be and less like a Ranch. read more

Been here about 50 times! I am a dietitian/trainer and I mostly cook at home, but I'm ordering out I want it to have a lot of protein! The Greek chicken salad here is my favorite and it is LOADED with protein. It makes two high protein meals for me. I tried what is my first drive-thru coney. They have a good, complete menu. And prices are reasonable. The coneys are good. They appear to use the chili from National Coney Island. Thats not good or bad...just an observation. The person on the mic taking orders was very nice and friendly. My food was ready quickly. I got 2 coneys, fries, and an order of chicken tenders just to see what they were like (they are frozed pre-breaded ones, but what do you expect at a drive-thru coney. Royal Coney Express is 10/10 a hidden gem. It checks all boxes - delicious, fast, open late, cheap and parking isn't an issue. There's even a drive thru. Everything we've tried this far has been delicious and perfect diner food. Never had issues with our order and it's super easy to call in a takeout and then pick it up within 10 minutes!! It's open late when a lot of other quick places are either closed or packed because they are popular. read more

In the Detroit area? You gotta have a Coney, or 2. So, that's what I did. It was about a 10 minute walk from where I was staying. There is no dining in. It's take-out or drive thru. Coney dogs and chili cheese fries were fine and typical of what you would find at other places. The greek salad was all ice berg lettuce and the dressing was thick and heavy. It tasted off and the chicken had pieces of cartilage in it so I threw it away. read more

Theres a legit coney drive through in royal oak? I wish I knew that sooner. The lines should be longer here than other drive throughs. I got a chicken club sandwich with fries. Super good! Did not take that long and worth whatever the wait was. I will definitely come back. Super nice and friendly. Quick and easy drive thru. Ok, this place is a god send. I don't like to eat fast food, but we've all been in a bind where there's nothing in the fridge, you're really hungry but you don't have a lot of time and don't want to spend an arm and a leg. In swoops Royal Coney to save the day. I patiently waited for this place to open because it is so close to me and I knew if it ended up being good it would be just the place I need to solve the aforementioned problem. They CONSISTENTLY DELIVER. Not only on how quick they serve you in the drive thru but how fresh the food is and how large the portions are. I've had probably 5 different menu items now and not one was even close to sub par. Their salads come with an abundance of delicious grilled chicken meat and their fries are never soggy. Have you ever gone to Coney Island just for the typical coney dog and fries? Well this place is that... and MORE! I had to stop since it's right on my way home from working and late enough for after my afternoon shift. Looking at the menu, I saw some thing that caught my eye. Corned Beef Eggroll!! That's right.... you heard it right! I tried it... 1st without the sauce. Tasty, packed with meat, a little swiss cheese, good seasoning, and a good sized portion. Then I saw the sauce! YES! Yes! YES! The slight sweetness with a touch of vinegar bite is the perfect accompaniment for the salty corned beef meatiness and crispy egg roll wrapper. OMG I think I'm addicted after just 1! The chicken lemon rice was pretty good too... not the best I've had, not the worst. It was missing a little of that lemony bite I look for. Staff was great, masked and very friendly. This place is so good! They have a huge menu with options to accommodate everyone. I typically get the chicken salad or gyro salad, but will occasionally splurge on a chicken finger pita (which is sooo good). The portions are huge so you get your money's worth. We just moved to Michigan and were in the area craving a coney dog and we have this place a try and it was well worth it. We ordered Coney Dogs, chili cheese fries and chicken tenders for our two year old. Everything was amazing and our two year old loved their tenders and she is a very very picky eater. They are quick, polite, and quality is on point. Highly recommend coming here. Family owned business. Only downside is if u had a big truck like me, it's right to go thru the drive thru line, but not a huge issue, just gotta forward and reverse a little bit to main window. read more

I found that later in the day, it can be a bit difficult to get seating for more than two people, but there are plenty of benches around the area, which makes it a convenient location. The employees are always responsive, and give great recommendations for food and beverages! Today, I got a spinach feta pastry and, my personal favorite, the cardamom rose latte. The pastry had a great texture and flavor to it, especially when warmed up. The cardamom rose latte was superb as always.
