The Nu Reuben with seasoned chips!
Saphace A.

Lovin' it! This food truck does an Indian take on American food: hot dogs, grilled cheese, Reubens. They were stationed at Eastern Market and I couldn't help but wonder what they were selling. The truck is brightly colored and obviously their name is a pun. Nu Deli....New Delhi. Ha! There was a line when I got here but only 3 people in front of me. There seemed to be a cluster of people over here the whole time though. Must be popular! I ordered the Nu Reuben. It's corned beef with mayo, Indian slaw, Swiss, and tandoori seasoning on the bread. Wow! It was yummy and had a nice sweetness. Very unique! It was $12, but I've always paid that amount for a Reuben, so I'm used to it. The Reuben was the most expensive item on the menu, so if you want something less than $10, you've got some good options. They serve Mango Lassi, which I should've tried. Perhaps next time. A selling point is that you can make the dishes gluten free or vegan. Awesome! My sandwich came with some chips that had some type of seasoning on it. Wow. So good! It was filling and I couldn't really finish it. Service was great! They were super nice at the counter and call out your name when the dish is already hot off the grill. I'll have to come again!

Nu Grilled Cheese!

Some co-workers and I decided to hit up Campus Martius for lunch one beautiful summer day, you know when they have a ton of food trucks everywhere for you to choose from. I went with the Nu Deli food truck, that serves deli sandwiches with an Indian inspired twist. I'm a big fan of spices but I'm still not that familiar with Indian cuisine so this was a fun/new experience for me. I ended up getting the, "Nu Grilled Cheese," that has four different cheeses, mango chutney and stone-ground mustard on Italian Bread... and you guys... this sandwich was so bomb!!!! I kept loving each bite more and more until it was sadly all gone. Even the chips were bomb! They were just a wavy regular chip but they added a spice to them that just took them to a whole 'nother level. There was also a pickle, respectively. They aren't great with keeping track of who ordered what and who came before who, and I ended up waiting almost 30 mins for my order, but it was worth it!

The Nu Deli is a brightly decorated orange food truck that serves "classic deli sandwiches with an Indian twist". I came across Nu Deli during Berkley's art fair. Like all smart food trucks, the menu is fairly short. Better to concentrate and do a few things well. All of the sandwiches are classics that are familiar but have been fused with Indian spices and preparation. The bread is toasted with masala spices, hotdogs are topped with tomato chutney, sandwiches have chili mayo, or chutney, or Indian slaw. Sandwiches include: Reuben, kosher hot dog, egg salad, tuna, grilled cheese, veg tikka and cream cheese and lox bagel. They offer "mom's cheese (cup) cake" of the day for dessert. Drinks included lassi style smoothie of seasonal fruit mixed and blended with yogurt. After much deliberation, I ordered the egg salad and lassi smoothie. The sandwich comes with a pickle spear and kettle chips (with a dash of spices). The egg salad has curry leaf and green chili on toasted masala challah bread. Egg salad will never be the same. This was a seriously good, flavorful sandwich. It had a nice kick but was a mild spice. If you have any fear of spice, just check with them about the spice level. The smoothie was also delicious. It was mixed berries combined smoothly with cool yogurt. You do have the option to have the sandwich without the Indian twist. They say that they will not judge you, but you will be missing out. This is a food truck to search out!

Kinda pricy.

Happened to see this when passing by the cadillac square. Sandwich tasted good. Serving portion is very little. Kinda pricy for the items offered. Guess there will be "new stuff to try" factor for some days. Give it a try for the variety.

I enjoyed my cornbeef sandwich baked in a tandoor oven. I'll definitely go back for another one. The chips on the side has a nice kick to them as well. Simply delicious!

I got the Nu Reuben one weekend at Eastern Market and it was absolutely delicious. I really enjoyed the Indian twist on these classic deli sandwiches. The corned beef was tender and flavorful, the bread perfectly toasted, and the Indian slaw and chutney added a wonderful balance of taste. I also got the mango lassi for a drink and that was sweet, creamy perfection. I'm excited to visit the truck again and try other dishes!

Amazing smoothoe and highly recommend the egg samwich

Great food, would go back to this truck, only downside , poor excution in seating by eastern market if they want to do a venue with food trucks corral there should be adaquite seating.

Pro tip- Get the Reuben on the Panini Ciabatta. So dang good.

The corned beef Reuben might be the best sandwich I've ever had. The chips were very good as well.

The Tuna fish sandwich made me sick. Really sick. I know. Eating a tuna fish sandwich from a food truck. I get it. It was a dumb idea.

It has perfect density, is well-seasoned, and is easily 15% better than a Five Guys patty. The Toppings: The lack of customization is frustrating. No extra options or toppings are allowed. It comes with American cheese, shredded iceberg lettuce (not a fan), and way too much sauce. The sauce itself is okay, but the burger was drowning in it. The Fries: Good firmness, they definitely hold their shape better than Five Guys but Five Guys' Cajun fries still win on flavor. The Value: I paid about $20 for a burger, fries, and a tip. It feels expensive, but with Five Guys at $18 and a McDonald's Big Arch meal at $14 these days, the price is fairly standard for the current market.

They aren't small fyi - one is the size of a medium to large at McDonald's. We regretted it immediately once we saw them. A suggestion to the restaurant - please ask which sauce we would prefer. My first time here and I had no idea it was served with a special sauce instead of ketchup. Their sauce was super sweet, I didn't prefer it. Both sandwiches were good. VERY messy and hard to eat. The relish/pickles were sweet. The bottom bun on the chicken sandwich was soggy. For dining in, it took awhile to receive our food when we were one of the few ones waiting. They seem to heavily do take out vs dine in so their focus seemed more on getting through their orders than service to those dining in.

They also have many local brands to include chips, sodas, and other small local business products (caramelized nuts, baked goods, etc.)! On the topic of local businesses, they also had a board which allowed local owners to post business cards and event alerts, fantastic for drawing the community together. Now, I ordered a Reuben as a lover of corned beef and sauerkraut. It was delicious and sizeable, a fair portion size for the money as well. The chips were also delicious having gone for the salt, pepper, and onion variety. A solid crunch and bursting with flavor. Among the positives I have two negatives, both of which are not adequate enough to lower their star ranking. Firstly, it took around 20-25 minutes to get our food after ordering. I rarely hold timing against a restaurant as having worked in food, I know lunch rush exists and things happen. To mitigate this (for those in the area) I believe they have an online ordering system, which I would recommend utilizing! Secondly, they do not have indoor seating, so it is a very grab and go type establishment. This is counteracted by the multitude of benches around Royal Oak, though it would be nice to have some amount of seating, especially for those with accessibility needs and those waiting on their food. Overall, Oak House Deli is solid and delicious and I will definitely stop by again when I am in the area!

I always say that my teachers are heroes without capes so the theme of this truck was so fitting. Every year, I try to do something extra special for my staff. This year, I booked the Hero Or Villain Food Truck. I was able to select 6 different sandwiches for my staff to choose from and options such as loaded fries & soft drinks. These sandwiches were the BOMB! Freshly made and grilled with such unique options: Blackfire (Steak, bacon, egg, mozz, grilled peppers, onion & drizzled with a spicy sriracha mayo), Thor (Turkey, bacon & Cheddar, mayo), Kingpen (Grilled Chicken, mozzarella & pesto aioli), Captain Planet (Marinated Mushrooms, Grilled Onions, Mozz, Red Pepper & pesto aioli), Deathstroke (Steak, grilled peppers, provolone, onion & mayo), Hawkeye (Turkey, swiss, sauerkraut, pickles, 1000 island dressing). These sandwiches were served on grilled sourdough, marble rye or a hoagie bun. My favorite was Thor but the Hawkeye was equally as delicious. I didn't have a chance to try all of them but everyone was raving about their sandwiches. The two ladies working the food truck were amazing. Serving up 50+ sandwiches in 1 1/2 hours was seamless. I've been told that this food truck travels all over the place. If you are lucky enough to try them, trust me, you will be in sandwich heaven! If you are booking an event, I highly recommend Hero or Villain Food Truck. Until next time, #catwoman

The sandwich originated in Chicago, so I like that Matt & Mo's has a replica of Wrigley Field's ivy wall. On the flip side, I didn't like being charged a 4% fee for paying with a card. My wife ordered a pepperoni pizza puff along with French fries. The pizza puff fell apart too easily, and was basically a larger version of a Totino's pizza roll. The fries were standard. With my sandwich, I ordered poutine. The consistency and flavor of the gravy made the poutine much better than average. As for the Italian beef, it did not disappoint. I regret getting just sweet peppers, as I should have gotten either hot or mild peppers with the sweet. I did get the whole sandwich dipped in au jus, which was the right move. This was my first time having an Italian beef, so it's hard to judge, but I definitely enjoyed it. Next time, I will bring cash to pay, and might even try some of the other menu items.
