Food was fast and delicious, my daughter loves the mickey mouse pancakes. Our server was awesome as well!

It is really a shame that this business has become what it is, which is a sad excuse for what it once was. I have been patronizing this business over three owners and countless changes in staff, but the last transition has been the worst, and I will not be back. The food has went from homemade to canned, and powdered. The hamburgers and chicken breasts, once succulent and juicy, are now leather. I really feel sorry for the past owner Paul, he worked hard to make this place an important part of the community. It is just a sad shell of what it once was. And the service is horrible compared to what it was under Paul.

They didn't have tissue in the stalls after I used the toilet for a number 2 at that. I hope this can be resolved for future notice.

Absolutely worst customer service ever. The lady on the phone was rude and actually made us cancel our order because of how mean she was.

We were seated immediately on a friday evening and enjoyed the baked goat cheese appetizer. I…read moreordered the chicken parmesan, which was tasty and the portion was huge, so had leftovers to take home. We will definitely return in the future. The reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because we were put at a table in the middle of the room and there were several very loud tables behind us, which detracted some from the experience. The restaurant has some acoustic panels on the ceiling but should consider adding more. I could barely hear my companion across the table from me but could hear literally every word from some loud woman behind me (I recognize that the restaurant can't control the volume of their customers but they can, I believe, do a bit more to reduce this issue). The cocktail menu looked interesting too and the steak and frites looked very tasty. In the future, I think I will just try to request one of the tables along the edge of the room, as I think it may not be quite so loud.

Ambiance: Nice. Casual with a tiniest bit of upscale. Nice buildout. Service: very friendly. Had the feel of a neighborhood place with better trained serves. Food: Very good! Menu has a very wide selection, but not too many items to make your head spin. Everything was properly cooked. They have an interesting lunch and dinner menu too. I will definitely be back, parking permitted.

I finally got to try Toast in Ferndale for brunch!…read more The parking situation is a small lot behind the back and finding a spot on a weekend morning wasn't easy! We didn't have reservations so we did have to wait a while for a table. But, Toast made it manageable with an outdoor waiting area where you can order drinks from the bar. By the way, the outdoor area is not fully insulated, just sectioned off with clear tarp, so it can still feel a little chilly. However, it was nice having somewhere sit and mingle instead of just standing around by the door. Now to the good part: My table ordered the trashy hashy, toast egg sammy, and a muddled strawberry vanilla iced matcha. I started off with the iced matcha and ended with the egg sammy with a side of parmesan grits. The matcha was a little watery but good. The sandwich was super flavorful but very messy. I had to ask for extra napkins after but the mess was totally worth the flavor! I can't wait to come back! I'll be prepared with reservations next time!

When we…read morewere seated, I noticed crumbs on the table and politely asked the waitress if she could wipe it down. She responded that she already had, but I pointed out that there were still crumbs there. She seemed irritated, so I even offered to wipe it myself if she gave me the towel. She then asked me to show her where the crumbs were and wiped them off. Unfortunately, her attitude throughout the interaction was very rude and unprofessional. My sister then asked to speak with a manager. When the manager came over, the other ladies in our group also mentioned the waitress's attitude. Instead of addressing our concerns professionally, the general manager became defensive and stated that the waitress did not have a nasty attitude. He then told us that if we wanted to leave, we could leave because he was not going to be bothered with us. He took our menus and asked us to leave simply because we requested that the table be cleaned properly. I would love to see better service and customers treated with respect! Ms Cheryl W.

We did the tasting menu, and my wife came up with the perfect description:…read more "This is like Christmas morning, and each present is better than the last one." That pretty much says it all. What a terrific experience. Oysters. Radish salad. Wild boar kebabs. Lamb ravioli. Quail. Cabbage. One course after another had us looking at each other and saying, "I want to lick the plate." Our serving team was led by Rachel, who was outstanding. Everyone who brought a dish to the table was knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely excited about the food. Even in a packed restaurant, they made us feel like we were the most important guests in the room. The décor is fascinating--eclectic, quirky, and full of personality. Nothing seems to match, yet somehow everything works perfectly together. The drinks were spectacular. They even had my favorite beer, Miller Genuine Draft (yes, I'm old school). And the bartender is a Knicks fan, which certainly didn't hurt. One final tip: visit the website and watch the video about the history of Mabel Gray before you go. It's a wonderful story and makes the experience even more meaningful. We'll be talking about this meal for a long time. Highly recommended.

This was a fantastic meal. I got the tasting menu which seems to be the right move considering they…read morerotate their menu every 3 weeks. The place is small and you can see the open kitchen pretty well. If i went back id ask for a table in the back so i could watch the kitchen the best. The food overall was spectacular, this must be the best restaurant in detroit. The radish carpaccio and the goat cheese bread were insane, so much flavor in every bite. All of the savory food was spectacular and the quality of the meats and the freshness of the veggies really shined through in every item. The service was top notch, every dish was well explained and my eating area was cleaned and silverware replaced whenever dirty. The speed of service was amazing, i eat quick and they brought my courses quickly while the group next to me was slower and they weren't rushed, clearly adjusted service for both our groups. I have two criticisms: 1. The chocolate cake dessert was lack luster and boring compared the rest of the menu. 2. I left hungry, the tasting menu was one entree or two smaller items short of the right amount of food. These criticisms are small and overall I had a spectacular experience. 4.7

We entered through the back entrance and were immediately greeted with a warm welcome. We quickly found a table for two, and our server was attentive from the start, bringing water right away, answering our questions, and walking us through the wine and beer selections. My wife ordered the Beet & Salmon Salad, while I chose the Crispy Chicken Club with white cheddar and house-smoked bacon. The sandwich was absolutely incredible--hands down the best crispy chicken club I've ever had. The chicken was perfectly crispy, and the combination of flavors was outstanding. I also stole a few bites of my wife's salad and was pleasantly surprised by the yellow beets. I'd only ever had red beets before, and both varieties were prepared beautifully. The salmon was cooked to perfection and paired wonderfully with the fresh ingredients. Between the excellent food, welcoming atmosphere, and friendly service, this turned out to be one of the best impromptu dinner dates we've had in quite some time. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and are already looking forward to returning to explore more of the menu. Highly Recommend!

This is not my first review nor will it be my last. I order delivery. When I went in person one time... they were careless and gave the "heir" that they were snobs and not anxious to serve. Now, objectively I can say it's very good. The portions are huge, the meat is flavorful and juicy, the peppers were good. There's just some herb or something mixed in there in the marinade/aus jus, that I just don't think I like (I think it might be fennel? Something kind of licorice-y that I don't jive with). But if you're an Italian beef fan, or enjoy that flavor profile, you're gonna love it! Now, what I did love was everything else! The fried ravioli? Delicious! The french fries? So good! And a very generous portion of both! Service was also VERY friendly and everything was prepared quite quickly! It's a walk up window but there are some picnic tables for dining there, though I chose to eat in my car before making my way back home. I would 100% come back by and go for perhaps a sausage or a coney dog next time, definitely stick with orders of those ravioli and fries, too!
