Went here on a Tuesday night and place as packed, inside was really neat, felt like a local bar with the seating and atmosphere, our waitress was friendly and was quick with refills and recommendations . For food my friend and I shared a Large Tommy's pizza circle. The food took about 40 min to come out. The pizza bread was very tasty paired with the fresh toppings, it all went together really well. This place came to me as the top recommendation from a colleague, and just to spare you the time and energy: it's basically Jets Pizza with a bachelors degree. I love the texture and the height of it, but the flavor leaves much to be desired. Came to try Green Lantern for the first time shortly after 6pm today with my wife and two kids and it was busy, as expected. Was told the wait was five minutes, so we decided to stay and sat down on the bench. Saw two parties leave shortly after, but we were still waiting for a table 20 minutes later. In the meantime, the entryway was completely full of people waiting for tables, who the bartenders decided to serve and let congregate (completely blocking the back entrance/exit), even though they were so drunk the wall was the only thing propping them up. When we decided to leave, they were incapable of clearing a path to even let us escape. I can appreciate that it's Tigers Opening Day, but I didn't expect them to have absolutely no idea what they were doing and tell us five minutes when it was clearly going to end up being a half hour, and let the walking dead not only block the exit, but be fed more alcohol. read more

This should speak for itself but incase you didn't know, people woke up this morning, thought about how hungry they were and thought to themselves, "I know what we need... green lantern!!" Like me, they came in ready to chow down on this exquisite cuisine. When I walked in I was greeted by the smiling face of Green Lanterns best, Denise! She was smiling and greeting us with her usual "hiiiiiii!! I'm so glad you're here!" Denise, we are also SO happy to be here. I was promptly served one of the finest bloody Mary's that Madison Heights has to offer. After all, after a night of drinking, the only fixer is a mixer! Once that was gone, what would a GL experience be without ordering their top TIER cheese bread? Pro tip: order is well done with some toppings. I got feta and banana peppers. Good LAWD. There are no words to describe this. Once again I have to mention the ranch. Read my last review on this gem of a restaurant to fully understand how good it is. Just don't make a mistake a skip it. Excellent food and service. Some of the best Pizza in the metro area. Admittedly, I'm normally a Shield's eater, but as it was late and Shield's was closed my mom and I came here. We had a very pleasant experience and didn't have to wait long to be seated and served. We started with the Parm Garlic wings which were delicious. Their sauce is a bit unique but good nonetheless. For the main, we got a large supreme deep dish(they call it a name, but I forgot what it is) and it was amazing. It was so good I didn't even get to take a picture of it because of how fast we ate it. It had everything on the menu seemingly on it, fresh, crunchy, just how I like it. Ingredients tasted fresh and the pizza was clearly made with love and passion. I also love that they do military discounts which saved us an additional 20 percent. Insane value at this place. 2 people eating for under 30 bucks these days is rare. We will be back. read more

I've been going here since I was a kid. The bar is small and can get super crammed. They really need to do some updating inside so that it's a more comfortable dining experience. Pizza is always so freaking good. They have the pepperoni that curl when cooked and hold grease. Be sure to blot do you don't get heartburn so bad. Love their sauce because it's thicker. Their cheese bread is the best cheese bread in Metro Detroit! So much cheese and butter! At least I assume it's butter. I used to live in southeastern MI. I've been to GL at least a hundred times. The pizza is good, kind of New York style. The way they "burn" the pepperoni is great. My only criticism is that at some point, years ago, they changed their tomato sauce from tangy to sweet. I'd be curious to hear from the owners why they did that. I plan on moving back to Detroit area in the near future and will definitely stop by GL again. read more

Food here is always great. They're a local neighborhood favorite for a reason. Everything is fairly priced and the quality of the pizza toppings is fantastic. We ordered a custom pizza and some wings to share and I enjoyed all of it. They have a happy hour M-F from 8pm to close that offers a few apps for $6 and some drink specials. Our waitress seemed to be a little disgruntled and rushed but I could also see she was basically the only one serving and probably was a little in the weeds. I've been a server before and tend to be a bit more critical of service but I'm a little more lenient nowadays because everyone is short staffed. I guess I'm the type that no matter how swamped I am I still want to come across friendly and want my clients to enjoy themselves and feel like they're welcomed instead of feeling like a nuisance. I worked in Warren for many years and this place was always on our list of places to go if we had time for a longer lunch. It's been over a decade since I had been there, but when my daughter was doing some shopping in the area and we were in the mood for pizza, we had her pick some up on her way home. We had to start with the classic - a simple pepperoni pizza. I remembered that Green Lantern's pepperoni was always a bit unique - slightly well done so the edges curl up to capture that extra flavor...and it lived up to my memory of it...delicious! For something new, we tried the Chicken Siciliano - the flavor was outstanding! We also had the Lantern Bread, with a side of garlic butter...yum! I confess. I was motivated today to write a very bad review for another restaurant. They deserved it, but I don't like that I have been to so many good places and have not written reviews. We have ordered many pizzas from Green Lantern. We pick up, so this review is for carry out. They make a very good pizza. It's kind of old fashioned - which seems fully intentional - and really wonderful. Good, crisp crust, amazing pepperoni, nicely browned cheese. They know what they are doing. And all of it is very reliable in quality, pickup times and service. They get busy, but they don't over-promise. But it make take an hour at the busiest times. The important part is that they just do the basics, very well. You will almost never have to wait more then ten minutes after the promised time - usually one or two. They have this thing down to a science but their pizza is lovingly hand crafted. Prices are great and they have frequent specials. Green Lantern is good pizza. Go get one! read more

Outstanding place to bring friends or family. The more the merrier. Intimate yet you can jam 108 folks in here. A legend in metro Detroit. The pizza is the main event here. Many will tell you it's the best in all of southeast Michigan. I concur. I personally dislike the pepperoni and insist it stay off my pie. Everything else is great. Tonight we discovered their fabulous wings; Boneless or traditional, with a variety of flavours. Mrs. E went crazy over the Honey Bbq and I devoured the General Yao's and the Bbq wings. Price wise it's definitely a bargain and the waitstaff is fast and efficient. Keeping the drinks full and checking on us, often. This is technically a full bar with a pizza option. A win-win. Been coming here for years and have seen a steady decline in quality. My wife and I ordered a large round deep-dish pizza, which had a thin layer of cheese and toppings on top of about 1.25 inches of gooey pizza dough and the sauce was way too sweet. "Deep-dish" shouldn't mean adding 120% more dough as opposed to more cheese and toppings. We also ordered buffalo wings which had fewer wings than normal, and chicken tenders which were way overcooked and seemed to be sitting in the window for a few hours just waiting for us to order them. Worst experience we've had here. Berkely location used to be worse but now is the better of the two locations. May want to take the round deep-dish off the menu and stick with the Detroit style square, thin crust, and regular round. Jet's is rapidly becoming the better value and more consistent in quality--except for the pepperoni. GL may have expanded too rapidly. Gave two stars since take-out service person was very nice. read more

The Italian sub is toasty, the meats are delicious, and the coleslaw that they top the sub with is unbelievable! It really makes the sandwich. I want the recipe, lol!! The pepperoni on the pizza "cups" when it's cooked, and you get these amazing, crunchy, spicy bites of deliciousness when you bite into a slice. It's a must have!! The chicken Sicilian pizza has a wonderful blend of toppings that work very well together. Have been ordering this pizza for 50+ years. It seems to have changed, crust is very thick, and toppings don't come to the edges as it use to. They were always known as the pepporini king, but topping have been reduced based on years past. I asked the waitress about my observations, her comment was all new kitchen help, those that use to work in the kitchen for years are gone. I'll start by saying the food was great. The kitchen staff was amazing, you could tell they were having a great time. They all had smiles. I dropped a tip in a jar for them. I debated on whether or not I was going to leave a review but I've come to this location and on multiple occurrences and each time it's the same lady causing the same ruckus. I believe her name is Ashley, maybe Amanda? but it's a very tense environment as she talks about fellow employees in an unwelcoming matter. It made the experience awkward and uncomfortable.
