Food was great! The uncle at the counter was so nice and helpful. I asked for all flats and was able to get this. I got the chicken wing appetizer and it came with fries, bread and garlic sauce. Prices were good and the selection was big enough where some of everyone will like it. read more

Great food! Super friendly staff! Been eating here for years! Wish they'd do better with the rice and entree prices are a bit high. But that's it. I always ask them not to cook the shit out of the meat. Like the Kafta and kebobs. Huge difference!!! I'm chaldo and my peeps overcook meat sometimes. I think it's habit. read more

I visited today, very disappointed in my meal. The Kabob dinner was very bland, no onions, no tomatoes, and no pickles. I do not plan to visit again anytime soon. I have been going to this location when they were in the mall. They need to check whoever is preparing the food. If I do visit again I will check my food before leaving!! Make sure you check your order since the cooks are different than before. The older man is still on the counter but the cooks are young. read more

Delicious food and even better personable customer service. Reasonable prices with great portion sizes and the side of fries is huge. I will definitely be back. read more

Delicious! I got the lamb chops with rice and veggies. I told them to cook to whatever has the most flavor. This is delicious! read more

This food and these people are great!!! Checked schwarma, beef kafta, fattoush, tabbouli. It's all delicious and quick for lunch!!!

The customer service was good and we got our food quickly. I ordered a chicken shawarma sandwich and it was a nice size. The garlic sauce, pickles and other vegetables made the sandwich taste really fresh. We also ordered the salad with chicken and almond rice. The rice didn't taste that fresh too me (maybe it was the type they used) and the chicken was a bit dry and had that burnt grill flavor to it. The dressing and portion size was good. read more

Shish Kabob Express - Chicken Shawarma Sandwich I demolished it.....LoL - Middle Eastern Near Me - Southfield, Michigan

I have been here a few times, and the food is always great. And the service is excellent as well. It is not very big inside, and tables are limited, so depending on when you go, there may not be tables available a couple of times. I had to take it back to work this place is right down the street from where I work. My only gripe is that the restaurant is full, with no place to sit and eat. When you serve good food, of course, it will be busy. read more

Ordered a hummus and shawarma plate, Greek with grilled chicken, 2 crushed lentil soups, cobra juice as well. Whoever took our order had some difficulty understanding my order, speak slowly and enunciate. Ended up having to correct my order a few times to make sure I got a juice and not something else. Called in the order, it would take about 15 minutes to get our order ready. This is right next to the shoe store I have been going to for a decade or longer to replace heels on my shoes. Food was done after 15 or so. Had to wait a few minutes longer for the cobra. It's hard to socially distance while we waited for our order inside. There were 3 other people waiting for their food order too. The cobra juice is decent. Not sure why it's called the cobra, feels like it should have some bite to it to something. Most prominent is the beet and carrot juice. The crushed lentil cooled on the 15 minute drive home, reheated it a bit and added 1.5 TBS of lemon juice to make the bowl a bit more style. It's nice to find their crushed lentil doesn't have rice as filler in it, it's pretty good. The soup was in a bowl container. I would have ordered only one if I had known an order would be defaulted to a bowl size for each order. The Greek salad is decent. Odd with the pickle slices and pickled turnips in it. The dressing is nice. The tomatoes are not ripe at all. The hummus is silky smooth and tastes good. The shawarma meat is grilled chicken, a bit sparse for this plate portion, if you ask me. I had more grilled chicken on my Greek salad than there was on the hummus and chicken plate dish. The Greek was $1 less than the chicken and hummus plate too. Food overall was average, as was the service. I don't think it was $42 worth of food. read more

I really wanted to love this spot because it's so close to me, but alas...back to Pita Cafe I go. It wasn't terrible, but with so many good Mediterranean options in this area, it just doesn't stack up. The falafel was good, and the hummus was ok, but you can't really mess that up. Overall, everything was a bit...watery, and the rice was super over-cooked. The veggie grape leaves were so mushy and salty, and the tabbouleh didn't seem as fresh as it is other places. Their prices aren't cheap, so we won't be returning, unfortunately. read more

Shawarma combo with lamb and chicken. My go to favorite food. Come here once a week I'm sure lol. Always welcoming and friendly. Food is always great read more

I loved this place! They have gyros / Shawarmas with chicken, beef or lamb. I ordered a shawarma that was a huge pita that I broke into four pieces. Lamb over rice with onions, pickle and vegetables plus a tasty sweet sauce. Carrots, tomatoes, both picked and fresh onions. Meat was tender and lightly seasoned and a good sized portion. The rice was perfect and tasted like it had been cooked in broth. Service was fast and friendly. Highly recommend. read more

This review is for carry out. And boy, what carry out! Hands down the best chicken shawarma I've ever eaten! And that is saying something, because I've eaten shawarma all over town. For noon on a Tuesday, this was the best walk in - carry out lunch I've had in a long time. The fattoush dressing was on the side, so the chips stayed crispy. The chicken shwarma sandwich was amazing. It was loaded with chicken and pickles, my favorites! read more

Faced a number of issues First off ....I ordered some pita bread from their website as the picture of the bread offered looked amazing....I paid for it and everything. I get tbere and it's a completely different kind of bread - one that I do not like at all. I informed the guy behind the counter and he was confused. He said that's all tbey sell. I told him that they needed to update their website then because it was misleading. When I first mentioned it ....he had no idea what I was talking about and didn't even know what kind of bread I was referring to. After I told him that their website needed to be updated ....he paused and said "well that's what they offer at the other locations." really? A minute ago you had no idea what I was talking about 2. I asked him if tbere was plastic ware and napkin in the bag. He assured me that there was. There wasn't. Whatsoever 3. I asked for a pineapple mango smoothie. He pulls something out of the cooler that was none of those things. It was a pre-made strawberry smoothie or something. Not What I asked for at all. 4. A little while back - maybe a year or so ago - I went in tbere to pick up an order. The girl behind the counter was doing something with the pita breads. She dropped one on the floor. She turned around to see if I saw. I did and she saw that I saw. But instead of tossing it in the garbage - which she should have done regardless If I saw jt happen or not - she just placed it on the counter off to the side. There is no doubt in my mind that the second I walked out of the place - that she just put it back and sold it anyway. Disgusting. I used to be a regular customer at this place. I stopped going after that day. The only reason I went today was because I thought I was ordering from the place across the street - mr. kabob I think it's called. I'll never ever go back to this place again. read more

I get lunch from here all the time since it's by my office. The food is always fresh, hot, flavorful, and inexpensive! The chicken shawarma lunch combo is my favorite. The hummus with chicken lunch is really good too! The dressing they use for their house salad is bomb. Make sure to tell them to go light on garlic if you want a normal amount- if you don't they put soooo much it's almost inedible. Overall pretty good food! read more

One of my favorite places for carry out lunch when I work in the area. Love everything!

Large portions, fresh ingredients, and weekly coupons in the Southfield Sun-what's not to love about Shish Kabob Express?? They guys at Shish Kabob Express know how to do it right! I love their Chicken Schwarma and Greek Salad. They're steak melts in your mouth and the smoothies are to die for! read more

Food is very flavorful, my husband and I have tried their shawarma sandwiches with lamb and they were a real pleasure. Addicting! Everything has a time and place, and that is exactly why Shish Kabob Express is so amazing. There are quite a few small Lebanese restaurants around town with service fast enough to get your lunch in an hour, but from a quicker service restaurant standpoint, this one wins. For the 10 years I've been eating sweet potato fries here, the quality has always been great. The service behind the counter (yes, it's a counter order joint) is hit or miss, but there have been some guys that I liked so much I made it a point to go get my food for carry out just to say hi every few months. My favorites? Chicken Ghallaba (call ahead for carry out, get the dinner and share it with a good friend/coworker - it's just better that way). The Chicken Shawarma Sandwiches are great and so is their house salad. I don't love their hummous. But it's just because I want it to have more lemon. Another favorite of mine is the carrot juice, made fresh just for you. Just try not to spill it all over your brand new car. They have lunch combos so you get your fill of food for a reasonable price and a few tables if you want to eat in, but get ready to wait in a long line. I also would not recommend the Baklava, it's kind of hit or miss, if someone else finds someone different, let me know! Lastly, if you like garlic, don't ever forget the extra garlic sauce! It's from heaven. Your significant other may not think so by the time you get home though... read more

This place has fallen off, the falafel dressing was too tart and the chicken was very dry.

I think they have to think what costumer is. Also they have to know menu. I do not like casher make mistake but sound like customer make mistake! Study menu! Food is just ok for me. Rice was soggy not fluffy.I order was different inside what menu said!! read more

Very high quality Mediterranean family owned restaurant. Shawarma sandwiches are the best and their garlic paste is on point. Reasonably priced, especially considering the crazy inflation right now. Call ahead to place your order so you don't need to wait for them to prepare it. Staff is very friendly and food is always fresh. read more

We decided to go here, because the place we planned to eat at was closed. What a mistake! The staff was friendly, but the food was so awful and we threw it away. I'm serious! We tossed it out. I ordered the vegetarian plate. The falafel was DRY and crumbling. It tasted like it was sitting a long time. I love freshly made falafel that isn't dry and cold. And I asked for no rice. The container was full of rice with a tiny bit of tabbouleh The grape leaves were mushy too. I also received the worst lentil soup I had ever tasted. My husband got the Kafta, which was terrible. Dry as dust, flavorless and burnt. We really wanted to like this place, but we will definitely not go back. We have tried middle eastern food all over, and enjoy how each place has a different spin on things, but this food was just awful. Sorry, two big thumbs down!! read more

This small place (about 10 tables) serves the straight down the middle Lebanese cuisine featured at many restaurants in the Detroit area. The renditions are generally good. Sandwiches, hommous, tabbouli and baba ghannouj are characteristically flavored and fresh. Salads are nicely green. I would avoid getting the majadra unless you are a partisan of the bland and moist style (which I ritually avoid) that they feature. Shish Kabob Express may not have all the polish of some Middle Eastern restaurants. However, it is good enough to merit more than an occasional trip if you live or work in the area. Note: they tend to be busy at lunch. read more

Love this place! Their chicken shawarma and fattoush salad are my favorite but they also have good rice, falafel sandwich, greek salad (same dressing as fattoush), hummus, garlic... I really don't think you can go wrong here. This garlic sauce should come with a warning label though - don't plan on eating it if you're on a date or going to a meeting after. I love it, but its lethal to my breath and manages to seep thru my pores. It's a fast paced ordering process during lunchtime - they're usually always packed and understandably so. The guys are always willing to answer questions about the menu and able to customize the food in order to meet your dietary preference. read more

I ordered for a family of 4, - Deboned chicken, Salad, fried Kibbe and roasted vegetables. The size of the portions were less than small. The fried kibbe - you get 4 PIECES. The grilled vege's - the portion is one my 3 year old can polish off by herself. Bill cames to $60.00. Wow, never again. If you go to Ikes, Sam's Kabob House, any place down Hall Rd., The prices are cheaper and the amount is at least doubled. The fried kibbe alone, when you get 4 pieces at this restaurant, you get 12 pieces for 1 dollar more at all the other restaurants. Very disappointed and will NEVER recommend this place. When I called to discuss this, they could have cared less. I would give this place less than 1 star, however that was not an option! read more

This is a great quick to go middle eastern place. I think it is the best one in the Southfield area (excluding Mandoulin Bistro which is more upscale). I usually order the fattosh salad with chicken or beef and both area great. The prices are also solid and consistent with the other middle eastern restaurants in the area. read more

Shish Kabob Express - Beef schwarma fattosh salad - Middle Eastern Near Me - Southfield, Michigan

We waited for about 20 minutes for our food but...it was WORTH the wait. Perfectly seasoned Kafta and Beef kabobs with salads paired with FRESH vegetables. The turnips I could eat all day (they sell them in store) and ALL the food was made fresh to order! The garlic spread was savory and beyond tasty. I will be returning SOON. Even the POP was better than most usual places. I can tell these folks put the effort in! Only reason im not giving them 5 stars is because they didn't specifically ask me HOW I wanted my kebob COOKED. Was a bit too well done for me. But it still tasted great! "Eat healthier, live longer" is their slogan! I dig it. Check them out. You wont be disappointed. read more
