Korean Turkey Burger
Greg B.

I really want to update my review. I went to the Royal Oak Brewery on mother's Day after brunch. The place was still fairly full with large tables of people. There was only two of us we set up near the bar at a high top. We were greeted by Erin, still with a smile but obviously she had been working extremely hard that day. She grabbed our beers and gave us a chance to take a look at the menu. When she came back, she told us up front that the kitchen was about an hour behind, and asked if we still wanted to order. I find this to be such an attribute to her being a server. I wanted to give a shout out to her because otherwise I would have probably been upset if she just kept making excuses. By her being up front, it made my experience at this restaurant so much better. Honesty is everything when it comes to service and she exceeded our expectations. She kept checking on us making sure that we were okay? It was totally understandable being mother's Day. Our food came and I tried the Korean turkey burger for the very first time and I'll tell you it was outstanding. I do not give five stars very often but all in all my experience with the staff, and the food. The five stars is well deserved.

Solid spot for drinks and food. Sandwiches were pretty good, nothing to write home about. Good amount of seating. Service is solid, great for groups.

Beef Brewhouse Nachos

These were amazing bar nachos and the portion was great for sharing. The house was bumping, food took longer than desired for some patrons at our table but I know how it is. Despite our waitress being busy she was always really nice, cool and calm. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here but it's conveniently next to the comedy club. Come get their nachos.

Mac n cheese pizza

Went for a work party! They were able to accommodate us very nicely had a group of 10. The food was absolutely amazing. Mac n cheese pizza looks like craft but tasted divine like garlic aioli absolutely delicious! Everyone's food was very good and came out on time. The staff was super nice and friendly and place was clean. Will be back.

Bar food, check. Cold beer, check. Good service, double check. Plenty of tvs and a patio for the good weather. Good place to meet friends or go it solo at the bar.

Beer!

We were in Royal Oak visiting a loved one at rhe hospital and chose to grab some dinner before heading back to the other side of town. Beer sounded like a good idea so we came to visit Royal Oak Brewery because it is a stop on our Craftapped app - Getting our bogo 50% off beers was a breeze. We each ordered something different. I got the Ruben without sauerkraut because I was feeling corned beef. I wouldn't order it again, it was less corned beef than represented on their online menu pics, all balled up on one side to make it look like a bigger sandwich when cut/displayed. The bread was SO toasted it was basically a crouton. The fries were very good though! My siblings got the cheesesteak and the Cuban. I don't believe they had any complaints. The beer we got was good, I tried several, but only really wanted one of them because they were all too malty for my liking. I really think you should have a couple more hop forward menu items available even in the winter months to satisfy all customers. The option given to me by our attentive server was a cider... little sweet for my tastes, so I just stuck with the Kolsch. Little light, but was a good beer. Overall, would be back. The vibe inside is very chill.

Country grilled cheese

We tried this place back in August before a show at Mark Ridley's. I really wanted to love it but I just didn't. The pretzel appetizer came with liquid mustard dipping sauce. I asked the waitress if that was typical and she said yes. I've never seen a mustard that is pure liquid before, anywhere. I tried the country grilled cheese as my entree. It sounded amazing on paper but I mostly just picked at it. I loved the idea of it but something just was off for me. I will say that the restaurant graciously took the charge off our bill even though I said it was fine. That was really kind. My boyfriend had the Nashville chicken sandwich. He liked the flavor but said it wasn't very hot. The presentation also left something to be desired. The service was good and they have solid drinks. Just wasn't wowed by the food. Might give it another try next time we are in RO.

Burger and seasoned fries

Burger had great potential to be a home run only if had not been blackened/overcooked. Cajun chicken was very salty. I would try again but only for drinks and snacks.

Young crowd, lots of couples on dates, and a few large groups. Very extensive drink list, with interesting cocktails. Huge bar. I would say the music is a bit too loud; its not a dance club, so I should be able to have a conversation without screaming. Food is good enough, but not quite there. Menu is interesting and well thought out. Smoked Salmon Crostini is 10 out of 10. Smash burger is bland and just ok. WAY too much sauce. 4 out of 10. Bam bam shrimp tacos are highly craveable. 8 out of 10. Steak frites, priced at $60, are very tasty, but not worth the $60. I ordered my steak medium rare; the ends were a perfect mid rare, but the middle was rare, which is fine as its a big steak and the rare bits will heat up nicely at home. Meat its self seasoned extremely well, and quite tender given its a NY strip. Service is good, but a bit slow. Overall, I would like to come back for a happy hour at the bar.

The servers are all well trained, and highly professional. The food is fantastic. The menu is the standout; it is very creative and has something for everyone. Let's start with their breakfast. This is probably the best breakfast/brunch place in town. Too bad they're only open weekends for breakfast. Whenever we have family back in town or friends from out of town, this is our go to place. Casual relaxed, friendly with quality food. If you haven't been here for breakfast, I would highly recommend it. The only comment I have is they don't open for breakfast until a little bit later in the morning. Usually, there is a line out out front waiting for them to open. We've had most things on the menu and to be truthful, not one thing has disappointed. Dinner: we don't get here too often for dinner because in my mind, this is our go to breakfast place. Last week we tried it for dinner and again, very pleasantly surprised at the professionalism of the wait staff, the quality of the food, and the overall dining experience. Whoever transformed his place from a hipster beer hall to a quality dining experience did a great job. Kudos to them!

As we followed our greeter to our table I kept screaming in my mind "no no no no no not that table no!" and she sat us at a table in full blasting sun. Nevermind the fact that there was a whole shaded section in the back part of the patio area. The rest of my group said it was fine and a beam of sun slowly bore a hole through my chest. Drink orders were up. I ordered a fabulous cross between a Moscow Mule and a Mojito. A+++ for the drinks. Mine was loaded with fresh mint from their garden. Same grade for our waitress who explained the drinks in detail and ended with "ugh- are you sure you want to sit at this table straight in the sun?" The other two said it was fine. I was ready to move, but was out voted. She continued to check in regularly and brought extra water. Most items on the menu were hot. I considered the fish, but we all landed on appetizers and we would just bounce from place to place for bites and drinks. We ordered the charcuterie board and the lavender lemon whip with bread and cucumbers for the 3 of us. The charcuterie board was the large version and had minimal offerings. It wasn't full and pretty. It was little piles of each thing on a board. This one definitely wasn't making it into Better Homes and Gardens magazine. There was a little pile of mixed nuts, a little pile of lose green grapes, a little pile of lose red grapes - not all grapes pristine or large and none were on the vine. There were 3 little piles of cubed cheese and 2 types of sliced sausage and sliced pepperoni. There were 8 crackers that were wheat thin size. This matters because we had some onion jam on the board and a nice serving of mustard. There really wasn't anything to put them on except for the 8 little crackers. That part was weird. These weren't elevated offerings. I could have picked up any of these at Walmart. They were not elevated quality either. We also got a lavender lemon infused whip which was their answer to tzatziki sauce. It was excellent but again, we were given so much of the sauce without a bunch to put it on. The cucumbers were sliced lengthways and there was a lovely bread that tasted like sourdough. There was 6 pieces of bread, and these were not particularly large pieces. A lot more would have been needed to use all of the sauce they gave. The proportions were off. All together the bill was over $100 for the 3 drinks and appetizers. If I ever did go back I won't order food based on what I experienced. There are too many other great options within walking distance.
