Oh my goodness we used to come here all the time and for whatever reason it had been a few years since we've been.-it did not disappoint. What a great welcome back. Everything we ate was incredible. Service was great- I loved that that waiter asked if we were going to an event and what time we had to leave by (we were headed to a concert) so he was super helpful about making sure we got out on time. Great vibes as always!

    Steak frites special

My friends and I attended the limited time steak frites event ($39). It's held on Mondays, when the restaurant is normally closed. There are no substitutions to the menu and the steak is cooked medium. Keep this in mind before going. The meal starts with warm bread and sea salt butter. It was delicious. The Caesar salad has a strong fish taste, very obvious they make the dressing fresh with real anchovies. The steak is served with a peppercorn sauce that is good on the steak and the fries. This was my first time at Wright & company. The door is actually on the side of the building and you take the elevator up to the 2nd floor. Try to get a seat near the front so you can look down onto Woodward Ave. Gary was our server and he was great. Attentive without being over-bearing. The drinks were more expensive than I expected. A double shot of Tequila Ocho was $40. Overall, it was a great night with friends.

Look for this door on John R St. The Wright & Co. Name is on the glass as one of the tenants. Take the elevator to the 2nd floor.

This is a hidden "literally" gem " in downtown Detroit. While it has a Woodward Ave address, you have to access the restaurant through a door on John R St, and take the elevator up to the second floor. The decor is vintage with a really cool vibe. They have ample bar seating, plus a good amount of booth and table seating, lots of windows overlooking the city. If going on the weekend, we suggest making reservations. Our server/bartender, Lia was great! She took excellent care of us, attentive and friendly. Great craft cocktail menu. We just did small plates on this visit. We had the Sweet Potatoes, triple cooked, sweet and sour salted, with a Mexican chili crisp. They were cooked perfectly, with crispness and great flavor. We also had the Brussel Sprouts, roasted with a sweet chili sauce. They also had great flavor, cooked perfectly, very tasty. This was not our first experience here, and we will definitely be back. I recommend checking them out when in the City.

This place offers a nice view of downtown Detroit. The concept is cool as it's Hors d'oeuvre style and you can choose a lot of different foods to try at reasonable prices. The food was ok though and the service was very slow or else I would give it a better rating. The chips was the best thing we tried and we tried more than what is photo'd

Love the vibes, the music and the vegetarian options. Also we had this delish cider that I would absolutely get again!

Amazing ambiance and in my experience never too crowded. I like to sit by the bar. The staff has always been super friendly, not sure which curated drink to order? No worries. Just ask, the bartenders are not only talented but very knowledgeable as well. I've only had food from happy hour but the cauliflower is a YES. I would definitely try other options on my next visit. I hope this review helps!

Sat at bar from 5-7 on a Thursday. Ample room, restaurant wasn't busy at all. Bar area was steady. Excellent bar service. Decent happy hour menu. We had the happy hour sized potato chips and it's a large portion. Pork slider is good. Crab salad slider good, but a bit overpriced. (Pork slider much better IMO). Restaurant is on 2nd floor, entrance is on John R across from the Huddle soft serve stand, look for signage on door. Restaurant was nice, but didn't feel as "polished" as LeSupreme or San Morello. Would definitely return for drink and app, but not a full dinner.

The restaurant is kind of hard to find since it's on the second floor of a building. But the menu is odd because there's no main entrées. It's all appetizers. And there's not one green vegetable on the menu.

Great tapas place with unique and seasonal dishes. The menu at the time we visited had a lot of fall fruit infusions. If you enjoy sweet and savory flavor profiles, you will enjoy a lot of the dishes

I had been wanting to try this place for years, and finally got the chance last night when two friends, my husband, and I came here for one of the friends' birthdays. We started off with drinks and the sliders - my husband and I split the fried chicken slider and the pork belly, both of which were good, but the tomato (aioli?) on top of the fried chicken one was excellent. I had the Out in the Meadow cocktail, which I also liked, as it was fruity-tasting. We split a ton of the dishes, which are made for sharing: -Artisanal cheeseboard: this was delicious but could have been larger, IMO, since it was $38. It came with three different cheeses, an olive oil flatbread, and "rotating accompaniments," per the menu, which for us included cashews, local honey, and little cubes of jam. The cheeses included a spicy cheese (too spicy for me unfortunately), a sheep's milk cheese which was delicious, and a wine cheese. -Michigan mushroom pate: this was very good, as I love mushrooms, and it comes with huge pieces of sourdough with flaky salt on top. -Sweet Potato Gnocchi - this one was also good, but I did taste the fish (there is fried bonito on top) -Roasted Cauliflower - this was my favorite of the dishes we got, as it was amazingly creamy. It does come in a fish sauce, and also had roasted garlic bread crumbs and parmesan -Salad of Grilled & Chilled Carrots: This was the only miss for me, as it was a bit smoky-tasting and I'm not a fan of that, but the others at our table enjoyed it. -Wildline Caught Walu: I'm not a fish person but tried this and enjoyed it! It had a creamy/buttery taste and kind of reminded me of chicken, actually. It's topped with a black licorice glaze which was also different. -Bonus dish: we had some time before our Candy Bar reservation down the street so we had the Yukon Gold Potato Mochi, which was excellent - don't be scared off by the "Mexican chili crisp" that it's topped with, it just provides a tiny bit of spice. I'm a big fan of mochi but had never had it wrapped around a potato, and it was very good. For desserts, our friends ordered the Dark Chocolate Ganache, and we got the Churro Cake, as I love horchata and it comes with a horchata cream. I honestly was not a huge fan of either dessert (our friends let us try theirs) but I will say the Ganache was tasty albeit super decadent-tasting. The Churro Cake reminded me of banana bread but more cinnamon-y / churro-tasting, and it was just okay, as I'm not a big fan of cinnamon. Waitstaff here was excellent, especially with the water refills. Everything was a bit pricey here (best value is probably the sliders, at $5 each), but is definitely worth it for a fun or special night out. I'd love to return in the future and try more of the menu, especially the braised sweet corn - I had a dietary restriction just for that day, and couldn't have corn - or the steak or chicken.

This was an average dining experience - I don't think this restaurant is worth a special trip. The sliders and churro were awesome and the highlights of the meal. The root vegetable salad was way underseasoned and not that interesting - it had the potential to be bright and acidic and punchy but it was just tame and boring. The hash brown was overly vinergary and didn't really taste like potatoes, though the chive sour cream was yummy. The mushroom and sunflower sides with the walu were so so tasty, and the walu was perfectly cooked, but they didn't seem to go together well, so it felt like eating 2 different dishes. Service was good and the ambiance is lovely.

    Scrumptious scallops :)

We had another incredible dinner at Selden Standard, which will always be our number one restaurant…read morein Detroit. We even got married here this summer!! So it holds a special place for us. Lauren took great care of us and encouraged us to order whatever we were craving. Dangerous advice, but we happily accepted . Warning - the ratings are real. They're not a mistake. We started with our usual cocktail, the Instant Karma (5/5). It is the perfect balance of citrus and salt with a light cucumber note. Clean, refreshing, and it pairs well with everything. The roasted sweet potato (6/5) is one of the best vegetable dishes in the city. The caramelized exterior gives way to a soft interior, and the crispy quinoa adds a subtle light crunch that plays against the creamy texture. The salsa macha brings a smoky, nutty depth without the heat, and the crema ties it all together. I had to physically stop myself from scraping the plate (actually they had to take it away ). The tagliatelle (5/5) with beef bolognese and parmesan was flawless. The pasta has that ideal handmade chew, and the bolognese is rich without being heavy. The parmesan blends perfectly into the sauce and stands out in every bite. The potato pierogi (10/5) were the star of the night. Soft potato-filled pillows with horseradish crema, apple, and crispy shallot pieces create this perfect sweet, tangy, creamy, and crunchy bite. Each forkful felt intentional and balanced. I felt guilty, because in my head, I didn't want to share with my wife, but I did anyways . The cruelty of having to split an odd number of pierogis...well played...we should have just ordered another one. We also ordered the smoked potatoes and the pan roasted half chicken with sauce au poivre (always 5/5 for both) The smoked potatoes, with raclette, and crème fraîche, are always a must. These winter variation was just as good! The chicken remains one of the most consistently well-executed mains in the city. I have tried recreating it at home with the cold pan method and it never comes close. Every time we dine here, it feels like four or five different dinner experiences in one evening. Selden Standard continues to set the bar for us in Detroit. We love the staff, the food, and the memories tied to this place. Cheers to many more amazing years to come!

My husband surprised me with a birthday dinner here, and I'm glad that we got to experience it. We arrived in advance of our reservation and grabbed a seat at the bar. The bartender brought us a glass of wine while we waited. It took about a half hour, but we were shown to our table for the night and promptly greeted by our server. All of the food looked amazing, both on the menu and with what people were ordering at other tables. We chose a variety of dishes - cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, squid ink orecchiette, octopus, mushrooms, and scallops. I would recommend all of them, but the standouts for me were the Brussels sprouts and the scallops. Flavors were unique and textures were especially on point with those dishes. Service was good, but we both felt like it was slow. There was a slight glitch in the beginning of the night where the host stand didn't mark that we had checked in when we actually had, which probably contributed to the half hour wait at the bar. Aside from those points, it was an impeccable night!

I never expect stellar service when you have a big party. The issue I had was the food. It was mid at best. First it came out at all different times which I think is not ideal. I ordered the chicken Caesar wrap and it said it was grilled chicken.... There is absolutely NO way this was grilled chicken, it was canned chicken shredded to the max. That was disappointing because I was thinking it was grilled chicken cut into strips or chunks and then put in the wrap. I assumed incorrectly. For me it was very sub par, for the money I would rather go elsewhere. If you're going just for drinks, then maybe it's a decent spot. I had wine so nothing too adventurous.
