I came here with my family on a week night. They were very accomodating as we had a large group. I really loved the sweet potato fries and the famous Michigan Strawberry salad. I also appreciate stylistic details like displaying the fries in a newspaper tin. Four of us came here for our monthly dinner out. Our server was Rider (Ryder?) and he was great - soft spoken but friendly and thorough. We ordered Brussels sprouts, a patty melt with a side of well done tots, fish & chips, salmon with baby bakers and coleslaw, and the cauliflower & quinoa "burger" with a side of waffle fries. Everyone said their food was "good" and they would come back to try something else. The person with the salmon said it was REALLY good. She also got a top shelf Long Island and she said it was the best one she's ever had. We sat on the side with all the windows that looked over the patio. Fish & chips not good. The fish tasted like something they got out of the freezer section at the grocery store. The pieces were tiny (almost looked like fish sticks). For the high price they charge (more than most restaurants around here), I'd expect them to be big pieces of hand-battered crispy fish. Also, they charge separate for a lot of their sides if you were to get a sandwich if you wanted fries, etc. with it. My previous experiences with this place have also been mehhh. For the higher than average prices they charge as a casual dining experience, I'd rather go elsewhere around here, where the food doesn't just taste like something I could have easily put together at home. This place just reminds you of a family run establishment, that has been around for years. It's comfortable, it's open, it's friendly. Do you need to know more? Yes, they have the best Maurice salad in town! There's very few and far places that I would suggest that if you want to get a beer and take your family, this place is very comfortable. Loved it here. I went with a work group. This was actually my second time here. First time was back in 2022 for a Christmas party. Anyway, We participated in a bar crawl on 2/17/24 for Jess. It was nice music. They also did a raffle! The service was fast. The place was packed. I kept ordering the grapefruit basil martini aka the duchess. It was really good. Our service was great and was spot on with liquid refills. The sandwiches are à la carte unless specified. Seated inside, by the patio. It's quite chilly inside. My fingernails are purple. Bring a jacket. Drake is waiting on us. He is all over and is running around a lot. Ordered the Turkey Reuben, not on the menu and a santorini salad, side of onion rings with the Rueben and a side of coleslaw. Menu doesn't have the customer notice about menu prices reflecting cash prices only. Do dislike restaurants that do this shady stuff. I am not a cash person at all, but places like this reward cash carrying customers only. Irksome to say the least. The onion rings were a bit too cooked, a few were rock hard and the onion was hard as well. Santorini salad is as you would get in Greece, no lettuce. It wasn't bad. The chicken pieces were dry. The side of coleslaw was way too thick and creamy for my liking. It's a bit overpriced for what you get here. Also, they add an additional 20% gratuity to the bill, it's not mentioned at all on the menu that they do that at all either. This place is really shady. Drake said the reason for the 20% forget gratuity is that they do that for everyone, since they are understaffed. The manager explained a bit later when I wasn't buying the excuse from Drake that there is a 3% surcharge for the food for using a credit card. I said I get that, saw it on the menu, but I told him I was automatically charged a 20% tip, when the menu states that's for parties of 6 or more, not for 2 people. The manager had to void my first transaction. Drake put it in "accidentally" that we were a party of 20 instead of 2. Those zeros will get you. After the forced gratuity was removed, the bill total was $36.03. read more

I've been driving by this place for years, but finally had the opportunity to give it a try last weekend when we were catching a movie nearby. The place is quite large and much nicer inside than I expected it to be. The menu has a wide range of options, which was good, because my wife and i were in the mood for different types of food. I went for the meatball sub, which was quite tasty. She opted for the Tavern Salad, which she thoroughly enjoyed. The price was reasonable and you could pay by QR code on your phone, which I love! Looking for a place to eat in Clawson and I asked my friend who lives in Clawson where should we go and she suggested Tavern On the Main. The restaurant is at the tail end of the downtown Clawson area. The restaurant has its own private parking lot and it is free. There is a patio seating area and plenty of seating inside. Umbrellas are throughout the patio area to give relief from the sun. Walking into the restaurant smelt like an older building - musty kind of smell, but the inside is not old looking. The decor is very cute and updated but still has some older charm, like beams on the ceiling. The bathroom was tidy and also had a cute vanity and overall design. All of the staff were very friendly and our waitress was attentive. We were seated right away and sat out in the patio. I was impressed with the drink menu and the food prices were not too pricey. The menu was also a good size - not too big but not too small either with items to pick. I went with the appetizer coconut shrimp and added coleslaw/fries to it to make it a meal. I was happy with the shrimp and the dipping sauce was good but it was frozen - so not sure if the fridge was too cold or if the sauce is frozen? Coleslaw was fresh and fries were crunchy. My husband got a burger and he was happy with it - the cook of the burger was how he ordered it. I would recommend and I wish I lived closer because I would become a regular! read more

Most important for COVID times: the have a LARGE patio with lots of tables, and most importantly, umbrellas for everyone of them! It was 90+ degrees today but we were determined to finally go out to eat, drink and see some of the outside world. I ordered a 16oz shandy ($7) and the Village salad, ($13). No lettuce salad of tomato, cubes, onions and feta. Those were the two coldest things on the menu because nothing hot or heavy today would do. Best part of today was the service. Shout out to Morgan! This is a nice place in downtown Clawson. It's outdoor/patio seating area is nice for summer evenings. I love their burgers and Greek Gyros . The atmosphere is laidback and the scenery is ok since it's facing the south side of Main St. However, it's quiet and nice enough for friends and family interested in getting together to chat and grab a bite together. Bonus: customers may select to pay via their phone by scanning a code that's printed on the bill, which makes for faster payment processing time. I was craving fish and chips tonight. So I did a search on yelp and this place came up. I get here and it wasn't that busy but a decent amount of people. I ended up saddling up to the bar. I am assuming based on my receipt that the bartender was Rhonda. So my first impression of her was she asked me what I wanted to drink in the middle of me telling her she walks away. I thought that's kind of rude. She comes back and asks again. I orderer up the fish and chips. Spoiler alert. They were awful. The better on the fish was rock hard and the tartar sauce was pretty bland tasting. The fries and coleslaw were ok. But what made it even worse was they charge $17.00 for this awful fish and chips. Should have read the reviews because I can confirm what was stated prior, the Fish & Chip are not good at all. It seemed like something from the freezer of a grocery store, certainly not worth $17. My wife had a patty melt and she said it was just ok. I passed my debit card to the waitress, when the receipt arrived it included a 3% charge for use of credit card. While the waitress indicated that the menu and bill both had a statement on the additional charge neither my wife or I saw any mention of a surcharge. The manager came over, the charge was voided and we paid cash. I try to be a little more open on the dinning experience with COVID impacting so many restaurants. But in this case dinner was just so underwhelming that I would say if your looking for a restaurant go to another place that is more deserving of your business. read more

When I moved to Clawson, I thought this place was a fancy restaurant because of its name. It's definitely not, but the food is very good. A friend and I went here today before a show in Detroit, she had won a $15 gift certificate through our pub trivia group. When I walked in, no one was at the hostess stand, but as I walked further into the restaurant, the waitresses said I could sit wherever, so I chose a nice spot by the windows. My friend and I split the provolone 'stix' which are like mozzarella sticks, they were decent but a bit pricey ($7) for what you get (7 sticks). I ordered the lemon pepper chicken sandwich, which was very good although a little salty, and she ordered the Tavern burger, which looked delicious - it had your typical burger toppings (lettuce, tomato, etc.) plus bacon. My sandwich was tasty and I ordered seasoned fries with it too - fries are $2 extra (and onion rings are $3 extra) and from the bill, it looked like we got charged an extra 25c for seasoned fries, too. Tavern isn't inexpensive but I will say the portions are huge, I took home half of my sandwich which I rarely do. Waitservice was fine too, eventually our waitress left a water pitcher at our table which was fine by me (I inevitably run out of water every time I eat out). Unrelated, I used the bathroom during my time at Tavern and it was really, really nice. I'm guessing it was renovated pretty recently. I would say Tavern is a decent choice to eat at, but, like I said, not inexpensive (burgers and sandwiches are $8+ and fries are extra), maybe because it's centrally located in downtown Clawson. I'd like to come back and try that Tavern burger at some point, though. read more

A friendly and comfortable pub in the Clawson area that serves traditional pub fare as well as Greek-American dishes. This place has improved significantly over the last few years and is one of the best places in the area to get a great burger. The waitstaff has been friendly and the food is solid, with decent value for your money. The owner is an extremely nice guy as well. I and my family recently had lunch here with my dad. The waitress and staff treated us and my kids very well. I was famished, so I ordered the Classic Double burger - a full pound of juicy deliciosity (yes, I know that isn't actually a word, but it fits.) Some places cut corners on their beef, but they use actual, fresh Angus beef here and it shows. Everyone else was happy with their meal, but I was the happiest. The salad consists of tomato which I requested none of, and cucumbers. When I inquired about my sandwich, the waitress apologized and said the Chicken takes longer to cook. Heart of downtown Clawson, this laid back tavern has been an icon for decades. Widely considered one of the better taverns in the area. They do a very good business. It's not a tavern as in a bar, rather there is actually a hostess and it is family friendly too. Their featured items are their fish n chips, burgers, fried/coconut shrimp, boca burger, and fresh salads. I had them make me a buffalo chicken salad once. It was pretty good. Service is absolutely stellar. They feature 3 dozen beer selections and some specials until 7, the end of happy hour, including domestics, wheat beers, amber and imported selections. Very clean and very windowy which is nice and separates them from being the dark, bleak bars we knew and remember from the 20th century.
