We had a wonderful experience at O'Mara's and we can't wait to go back! It was a quiet Monday and we visited for dinner. It was clean and spacious with a great music playing. Our server was so great and attentive. After ordering, our server brought the most delicious bread and a small mixed green salad. The bread was so soft, perfectly salted and just so good. You can tell all the food is so fresh and made to order. We really enjoyed the chicken pot pie. Instead of a pie crust it was a large flaky croissant on top. It even had sweet potato! We also enjoyed the blue Mac and cheese. Definitely very bleu cheesy so don't order it unless you're a bleu cheese fan! It had a very strong flavor and was super cream and delicious. I haven't been here in a few years and am I glad I went back! O'Mara's not only has wonderful food, but a comfortable atmosphere and laid-back vibes. Service was fast, friendly, and attentive. I had the walleye with scalloped potatoes and green beans, which included rolls and a tossed salad. It's one of the best meals I've had in a long time and I savored every bite. We stopped in for lunch around 1pm. We were attending a local street festival. The restaurant was empty with only on other couple. The decor was irish and there was a stage for a live band so it looks like this could be a happening place so maybe it was slow because of all th street vendors and activities that day.. My father ordered first but the restaurant was out of prime rib, and prime rib sandwich so he settled on sliders. I had the fish. The waitress was kind but never brought napkins when asked or refilled my father's soda. The food was subpar at best nothing to rave about. I did like that there was a 360 degree mirror in the women's restroom. Had some fun in there. Might think about coming back around St Patrick's day to give it another shot. My wife and I went there for Easter brunch. Nice atmosphere but a little out dated. Ordered drinks, which were good. We ordered the fish and chips and the salmon dinners. We waited a while before we were served our dinners. When our meals arrived, we noticed that dinners did not look like the pictures from the menu. A 3ounce plastic cup of dry lettuce and carrots for the salad, no bread and butter, under cooked salmon and cod fish, over seasoned cold potato wedges for the chips, dry coleslaw. Did not finish our meals. When we received our bill we noticed a mandatory 18% tip already included, in addition to the blank tip request area on the bill. I'm thinking WTF is this? No signage on the menu for this 18%, no verbal communication from our waitress, no indication of this 18% already charged tip. Nothing. This is wrong. Never going back. There were 6 of us and most of us were first timers there. The first thing we all loved were the unique rolls that came to the table. They were hot and delicious! I'm only sorry that I didn't take lots of pictures to post as they were large and beautiful to see. Then, we all were blown away by the food! The sizes were amazing, so an incredible value. The tastes were excellent (having sampled others' food) and the service was outstanding. We were honored to meet Kevin, the owner, who shared some very interesting facts about the restaurant he has had for 32 years, and his background. My family has been coming here for decades. This was the first time we were back since they rebuilt after their fire. It's good to be back! I took my mom out for Valentine's dinner and it was really fun. They had live music and a pre fix menu. The wine was flowing and the vibe was fun. The lighting was fun too. My mom had the fish and chips and I'm really glad she let me try it because it was delicious. I enjoyed my lobster tacos. It was a special for the night and a nice treat. Delicious bread pudding for dessert. Full bar. Everyone is very nice here. One of the owners came and chatted with us and welcomed us back. Excellent service. Plenty of parking in their lot. And you can drive right up to the front door and drop people off or pick them up. Outdoor patio too. The women's bathroom is a delight! I am so glad to see O'Mara's open again. We went last night, and it was my first time there since before Covid. There are changes. The menu is very different, seeming more health oriented, but some of the classic dishes are still there. Shepherd's Pie, Chicken O'Mara, but many new ones. With Bourbon Beef Tips gone (bring them back!) I went for the Shrimp Scampi. I was not disappointed. 8 large shrimp, on a bed of brown rice with spinach greens. The service was fine despite obviously having some staffing issues (like everywhere else), but we still had good service. The staffing issues likely account for the limited hours for now. 11:30 am to 9:30, Mon thru Friday. I look forward to going back often read more

The server was very good at her job. The hospitality was on point but the food was not. The Reuben my guest ordered went unfinished . I was told the meat in the sandwich wasn't that great. I will not voluntarily eat here again. I sent my meal back and got a fresh meal to go. Again the potatoes were not fully cooked . The chicken is low quality or they cooked it too hard. I regret going there to eat. It's a nice bar. It's not pretty enough and it felt damp and dark. I would not spend money to eat there again. There's plenty of nearby restaurants that are better. Stopped in for lunch hoping they improved their food . We have eaten there twice since they reopened after covid and hadnt been back for over a year since each time we ate there the food was really bad. This time was just as bad. For 16$ I had a handful of fries still dripping with the old grease they were cooked in. My grilled chicken was 4 oz of dried pressed chicken with absolutely no sauce. The bread was good but the sandwich looked like a joke because it was so skimpy. I just dont get how the owner or manager thinks its ok to present food this way. I've been meaning to get to O'Mara's for years, and I finally did it. Hubby and I ventured out on a snowy night, were greeted warmly by O'Mara's hostess and promptly seated. We were surprised at the number of diners given the bad weather, which I suppose is a testament to the restaurant's popularity. Our server was attentive and friendly, although she wasn't very knowledgeable about the menu. I hate it when a server tells me they don't know if this or that is good because they don't like fish or meat or cabbage or whatever. They need to do their due diligence and find out if it's a favorite of other customers. I ordered what I'd inquired about despite no recommendation either way, and it was OK. It was "Salmon in a Beggar's Wallet" and it was tasty, but the salmon was a little bit dry and the "wallet" was a little bit greasy. Hubby ordered the sirloin, which was also OK, but not cooked to the requested temperature. Hubby's Tequila Sunrise was also fine but, weirdly, it was stirred, so it was more like a muddle than a sunrise. All in all, our experience was OK, but nothing spectacular. read more

Went here on a Friday night with friends for a birthday party. Someone had called ahead to make reservations. It was a great and friendly experience. Our table was ready when we arrived. It's open and inviting in the dining area. A band was setting up for later entertainment. The menu is large and varied. Their tag line "it's. It just Irish" is true. I had the chicken o Mara and it's Italian in nature- and was well done. The portion was healthy. Soups, salads, sandwiches, to steak and lobster are on this menu! Drinks are tasty and well made. My boyfriend took me here on St. Patrick's Day for my birthday. Our $22 dinner of Shepherds Pie was served in an aluminum pan. All you could taste was salt and onions. The "salad" was served in a 3 oz. small plastic cup - picture the cup that a nurse brings you pills in when you're in the hospital- with 2 strips of lettuce in it. I had to hold back the laughter. The service was horrible. After 25 minutes waiting, he had to go up to the hostess and tell them that no one had come to our table to ask us what we wanted. We should have left at that point. And has the nerve to charge for a pint. Also, ordered a "house old fashioned" cocktail as featured on the menu -- my bill came with a $5 uncharge for a bourbon the waitress insisted was a "house" bourbon. All in all, a terrible experience. Not sure how I feel about this place. Had breakfast here with a friend and although our food and coffee was good (portions were generous,) the service and cleanliness was an issue. Our server was not very professional. I would describe her as rough around the edges. She kept interrupting us and talking over us every time we asked questions. She seemed annoyed by my friend's request for gluten free items. It took forever for us to get our bill and there was hardly anyone in the place. Also we were constantly bothered by flies. Let me preface this by saying that as a rule we only go to O'Mara's for breakfast. It may have delicious lunch or dinner, and I would have no idea. O'Mara's is reasonably priced and delicious. They've got a plethora of omelettes, frittatas, and scrambles. Also delicious pancakes and waffles. I usually get an omelette, and normally the spinach, gorgonzola and walnut one. You can also build your own, and there are a billion choices (most of which boyfriend takes advantage of all at once. Bring on the bacon.) It comes with toast (I recommend the honey oat) and a bunch of delicious jams (sounds weird, but you'll see what I mean). They also have a $5 Bloody Mary bar, which we rarely skip. The waitstaff is always really friendly and chatty. The only thing is that O'Mara's, at least at brunchtime, doesn't really have a "happenin" atmosphere. More like people's grandparents after church. I am not a frequent visitor of O'Mara's, but throughout the years I have gone many times. It is a classic neighborhood restaurant/watering hole, with plenty of regulars - like the Berkley Cheers. The food has always been solid - not fantastic, certainly not horrible. Then, I got the word - they have a great Maurice Salad! In my never-ending search for the best Maurice Salad, I raced to O'Maras to check it out. It was solid. Not fantastic, certainly not horrible. Lots of cherry tomatoes (huh?), decent lettuce, light on meat and cheese and so/so pickles (for me, the tell tale sign of a great Maurice is a good pickle). Three stars for the salad, 4 stars for the place O'Mara's plays in the neighborhood. By the way, I can't speak to the Sunday Brunch or the weekend entertainment, but Ive heard good things. Well O'Mara's, you're the closest Maurice Salad to my work - so I'm guessing I'll be back. but I won't be giving up my search! read more

The bar seemed like a hotel lounge with it's '90s decor and many televisions. We sat down and ordered drinks. A few minutes later the older gentleman who took our drink order came back and said he forgot what we ordered. We ordered again. The drinks were cheap, though not very strong. The martini was a well martini for $2 and was the best well martini I've had. The ambiance was strange. The service not impeccable for being the only people there. The drinks were ok. Finally tried O'Mara's after passing it several times. Seems to be popular as their parking lot is always packed on weekends. They have a large parking lot with plenty of spaces which is nice. We stopped in for karaoke on a Wednesday night. It was pretty slow and we were seated quickly. Karaoke is a very small setup in the corner of their bar area, nothing fancy but good KJ and decent song selection and had fun. The rotation wasn't too bad and we all got a couple songs in. Our server was attentive and friendly and took our orders quickly and offered recommendations and checked on us throughout our visit. We were seated in a high top against the wall across from the bar. Seating was a little cramped and hard to get in and out as the table adjacent to us was very close. Food is a bit expensive and higher quality than traditional burger bar fare. They have a $34 filet mignon and $28 NY strip steak and $18 white fish, and crab stuffed salmon. Makes sense as they serve as a banquet hall for parties too. We stopped in late night after a movie so we were really looking for lighter fare, just a bite to tide us over. Not many light appetizers on their late night menu except nachos and soups. Two of us went with the bowls of chili and another friend ordered the loaded baked potato soup. The bowl is a huge portion and the chili was very spicy and flavorful and tasted homemade, topped with cheese, onions and sour cream. The bowl is equivalent to two cups. My friend said the loaded baked potato soup was very good too. They also had pumpkin pie on special. I ordered mine right after I finished my chili and my friend decided to wait since she was full since she ordered fries and salad as well. The pumpkin pie was pretty disappointing. It was mostly frozen and needed to thaw out. The server brought out a bottle of whipped cream and asked how much I wanted. The whipped cream came out milky and watery and melted all over my frozen pie. My friend waited for hers and it thawed out more and was still partially frozen in the middle. She asked the server for a fresh bottle of whipped cream because she saw the result of mine and hers looked better. I had water but some of the cocktails sounded great..Salted Caramel Martini sounds delicious, and I'll have to try next time! They offer happy hour specials everyday from 3-7, $4 appetizers, personal pizza, nachos and deals on Moscow Mules, beers, wine, and mixed drinks. They also have a large banquet/dining room. The bathrooms were also very nice, spacious and a full trifold mirror and pedestal with lighting, I suppose to adjust your party dress if you're there for a banquet. They have live music and other events as well. Overall, good service, karaoke was decent -not the best I've seen but not bad, and food was ok. My mom and I live 25 minutes from Berkley, MI where O'Mara's is located at the corner of 12 mile and ... well it is bit west of Woodward. I travel on 12 mile quite a bit and have always wanted to try the food at O'Mara's as I passed by it. The parking was ample. Mom wanted to eat early so we arrived at 5pm on a Saturday evening. The dining room was quaint and clean but at 5pm there were only about ten diners in the place. We were greeted at the door and shown to a table top...no booths in this place. I know that we arrived early but I always feel cheated when I see a stage for musicians but never get to hear the music unless I am there 10 at night. The music starts 9:30pm at O'Mara's. We started our meal with a glass of wine and an appetizer. I had the house cabernet and mom had the Lombroso. Wines were served in a nice wine glass. Wines tasted fine. We ordered the Pork Egg Roll appetizer. It was very tasty but we were surprised there were only 3 egg rolls. There was a lot of pork with corn wrapped in a crunchy, chewy, yummy shell. For the main meal I ordered the Shepherd's Pie and mom ordered the Macadamia Chicken salad. My mixed review for the pie is listed below. Mom loved her salad. There was a lot of chicken on top of mom's salad and the dressing was light and delicious. For dessert we had coffee (fresh and hot) along with a bumpy cake for me and bailey's cream cheesecake for mom. The desserts are made right there at O'Mara's and you can tell in that they are fresh and well proportioned. Our waitress was MIA often but when she did show up she was a joy to have around. Overall, I'd say it was a wonderful meal/evening at O'Mara's I was expecting my Sheppard's Pie to be served in a bowl but it was served as a thick slice of pie. The actual pie was very good with lots of potatoes and ground meat. What ruined the pie for me was the salty brown gravy that was poured all over it. I love gravy but this was very salty. My first time in here today, as I walked in I noticed the layout was quite neat. I like how the bar is upfront and dining is separate. I was here for breakfast, it was nice, quiet and pretty empty. (Monday morning) I ordered the fresh squeezed orange juice, which is absolutely amazing & sweet! To eat, I ordered a spinach and feta omelette which was unlike any other omelette I've tried before. An abundant amount of feta (pricey cheese) and other veggies as well. There was a taziki sauce and a small breakfast salad alongside the omelette that complimented very well. For the toast there was three homemade jams (YUM ) there was strawberry, mixed berry and marmalade I believe. Seriously so delicious.
