What an unexpectedly delicious find at the lower end of Federal Hill! This is a casually elegant small bistro-like restaurant with a "continental" feel. Service is excellent - attentive and without being intrusive, and patient in answering questions. The tables are a bit close, so we had some difficulty with the two of us seated on the inside of the four-top (closest to the window) getting up for the restroom, and we heard the conversation of the noisy folks behind us pretty clearly. From the offer to take our coats to the lovely bread basket, and interesting cocktail list, we could tell this would be a nice meal. I appreciated the reusable straws that came with our cocktails, mine was stainless and my friend's was glass because they fit the drinks better that way. The menu is a nice mix of French (escargot, French onion soup) and Italian. We skipped the Cesar salad we were thinking of sharing because it's made the traditional way, with raw eggs. We'll try that when bird flu dies back lol! I had a delicious eggplant parmigiano, and selected the pappardelle side. The layers of eggplant were lightly breaded, the sauce was superb - and the pasta is clearly fresh/handmade. It was scrumptious!! Others around the table had linguine and clams and said the white sauce was marvelously buttery and well-seasoned; there were a good number of clams on the shell too. The pappardelle fra diavolo was spicy, with gorgeous chunks of eggplant, think spicy sauce (completely different sauce from my eggplant parm's btw) and subtle. All of us thought the food and service was top notch. The dessert tray brought to the table had 4 or 5 different options for us to choose from. While we passed on that a few of us did opt for a cappuccino. The coffee was perfect - even down to the subtle hit of browned sugar in the foam. I'm also sorry to leave this review. A group of us had just left a super congested street fair near Federal Hill and were looking for a quiet spot for lunch. Driving down Broadway, YELP directed us to Vino Veritas. The place was empty, we arrived just an hour before closing on a Sunday, but we were seated at a cozy table and our server was attentive and great! We ordered a white sangria and a Mimosa. The sangria was a standout. For our meals we ordered: Eggs Benedict-Looked wonderful, eggs perfectly poached and nicely seasoned potatoes on the side The Brunch Burger-Wowee! It was huge and I mean one of the tallest, piled on burgers i've ever seen! Positive reports on that! The Avocado Toast-This was the only disappointment, but it was really disappointing. My wife and I tried this place before COVID and vowed to never return because of poor service and subpar food. My wife has been there for brunch since and one dinner and she said both were good. So we decided to go together for dinner. Immediately I was uncomfortable at our table sitting in a metal rounded-back chair with thin cushion attached to it. We were squeezed at a two-seater table stuck between two four-seaters, which was not very cozy. While my wife was in the bathroom, this woman came by and filled our water glasses without a word. I thought it was the bus person. She arrived again when my wife returned and I was shocked to find she was our waitress! My wife introduced us and had to ask her what her name was. I ordered the red linguine and clams. This is one of my favorite dishes, but not here! The dish was covered with a thick, spicy meaty sauce. You couldn't even taste the clams or any clam juice. It was fitting for a lasagne or bolognese. My wife ordered a steak that was topped with some light, whipped cheese and drizzled with some dark sauce. To me it looked like a steak sundae. She seemed to enjoy it with no complaints. We had a cheesecake for dessert which very good. That cheesecake had no idea it saved this review from being one star. read more

Love this cozy spot with good food and friendly service. My only reason for a 4 instead of a 5 is the food is good, not great. It's still good enough that I keep going back. I think the eggplant dish is my favorite. The chicken wings are bland. This is a great spot for a romantic date. There are seats outside with plush pillows and blankets. Inside it is dimly lit. The service is consistently really friendly and welcoming. I really like this place. Two doors down at Nicks on Broadway, you'll wait two hours for brunch and spend twice as much money and leave half as full. Vino Veritas brings their A game when it comes to cocktails (despite their namesake, I totally neglected their wine menu. They have three cocktails lists to choose from!). Even still, I totally overlooked their bloody mary fine print: includes bar. Had I know about their Bloody Mary Bar before ordering, it would have been a game changer. Nevertheless, I would recommend the Veritas martini for a mimosa-like taste with a martini level of alcohol. My friend and I split a special of the day breakfast flatbread, which was honest to goodness the largest flatbread I've ever seen. This could have fed four people. He and I are both CHAMPION eaters, and we didn't finish...but we had also ordered more food, and the crust was thick, so it was filling. We were excited about the sweet breakfast options, from lemon ricotta pancakes to Portuguese sweetbread French toast. Ultimately we landed on neither, choosing dark chocolate hot cakes and the beignets with creme-anglaise sauce (YUM). The pancakes (three) were large and super thick, and left some chocolate to be desired, but the maple bourbon syrup was a good addition. We didn't finish these either. Dear reader, this is the first time in brunch history I haven't been able to eat my half. That's really saying something. And there are so many things still on the menu I'd like to try that I'm excited to go back. Not to mention dinner! The world is your oyster at Vino Veritas. Go, seek your truth. Service was very friendly and professional. There were a few families also having brunch on the weekend day that we went. 1. French Toast - 3.85/5 - Huge portion, sweet with the syrup which had a hint of alcohol but also great without the syrup. 2. Eggs benedict - 3.8/5. Average and delicious eggs benedict with spinach and ham. My friend and I came here for a bite to eat and some drinks on Saturday night. We were excited to try somewhere new and this place had such great reviews! The restaurant was small but super cute inside. The host even accommodated our last minute reservation which was such a pleasant surprise. The fig, prosciutto and arugula pizza was delish! The reason for my 3 stars was the horrific service. We waited for about 15-20 minutes before we were greeted by our server. She never once smiled and had the personality of a wet blanket. She never even told us her name. Just said, what can I get you to drink? My friends drink was dropped off at the table, but mine was not ready yet. She asked us if we wanted to put in any appetizers which was weird, considering I didn't even have my drink yet. Received my drink and we put in a flatbread pizza and a cheeseboard. She said she could put in our entrées at that point as well. We were not interested in having entrées, but would have stayed there for a few more drinks. At that point, I felt like she was discouraged that we were not getting entrées, and we were treated like peasants the remainder of the evening. Her attention was clearly more focused on the wealthy East Siders who came in as a table of four. I had to get up twice to ask where our check was and get my to go box. What can I say about this place, except for it's amazing. I always passed this place for months until my partner and I realized there was a vegan corner of the menu. My family and I dined here on Thursday afternoon after going to Nick's on Broadway where the wait would have been 35 minutes. We were able to sit right down and greeted kindly with water and bread. Our server was friendly and attentive. We started with the balsamic calamari and a cup of French onion soup. Both were delicious and full of flavor. I had the chicken pesto caprese sandwich which is full of cheese, tomato and chicken on ciabatta bread. I was full after only eating half. The atmosphere is fun and relaxing. Vino Veritas is wonderful. They have patio heat towers with soft purple blankets on the patio in case you prefer to eat outdoors. Inside, the tables are spaced considerably apart with tasteful plastic dividers between. It has a lovely ambience with happy Christmas music that is a good volume so you can sing along to it but don't have to talk loudly over it. The complimentary bread basket was delicious. We ordered the French Onion Soup as well as the Cajun Grilled Shrimp which was so delicious I practically drank the sauce. The highlight truly was our server! If you see a waitress with a Jack Daniels face mask, she is golden! She noticed we were celebrating my sister's birthday and that she had really enjoyed the truffle in her chocolate martini, so she gave us a complimentary flourless chocolate cake that was to die for! We had a wonderful experience here. We were welcomed at the door and seated by the owner. The restaurant is cozy and comfortable. Our waitress was wonderful as well. We started our meal with arugula and prosciutto flatbread which was delicious, not overwhelming and feeling stuffed after. We continued with the soup of the day, Stracciatella and French onion. Both were very good. For dinner, chicken parm which was the best ever had and the Gorgonzola filet which was delicious. Let's just say the dog got five star service so we already knew we were in for a treat we came and sat with our puppy outside and the owner walked up and gave her a bowl with treats and water, it was wonderful. My wife and I shared the cheese plate it was delicious then we had a tableside Caesar salad which was also incredible finally because we were already full we decided to share a sea bass special which came with spinach, potatoes and a lemon cream sauce. We also had a bottle of Cabernet. Yum! We were so spoiled! We got candle light as soon as the sun went down, constant check-ins, new silverware, all the little things. It was great The one big downside is that I found some bones in my fish but I forgave them because the food was so good. But for the cost of this place, I shouldn't have bones in my sea bass. Went there for an early dinner Saturday night and sorry to say, was so disappointed. Mediocre at best, terrible at worst. I had the highly recommended by the server Chicken Rollatinno special. The chicken was so dry that I was very grateful for the thick lemon sauce. I and my companion shared a dessert: cherries jubilee made table side by a chef with a pint sized 10 year old helper. This was pretty terrible. Wayyyy too sweet and the sauce too liquid. To make matters worse, the ice cream this was poured over was not frozen hard enough and melted immediately leaving a creamy, cherry juice mess. We are always into trying new restaurants. We received a gift card from my parents to dine at vino veritas! It's restaurant week in providence right now so I was a little hesitant to dine here knowing they are a smaller restaurant. We called ahead no wait and I am so glad we decided to dine here tonight! Our waitress Allison was AWESOME! She was able to wait on 6 tables alone with the help of the owner and she was able to make some outstanding recommendations! We started with the grilled Cajun shrimp appetizer, it was delicious. We both ordered off of the specials menu, ahi tuna and the veal chop. The veal chop was seared table side by the owner in a frangelico cream sauce with sundried tomatoes and mushrooms. It was cooked to perfection and I can definitely tell you that they definitely are not skimpy with the main entree portions. For dessert I had the tiramisu that was most certainly Home made and so creamy! I have to say that I can't wait to go back and take my parents with us next time.. I must add how impressed I was with the waitress being able to handle so many tables and bar customers and still smiling and being very cordial the whole time!
