What a refreshing feeling I had when I walked in! I could tell stepping in that the people behind Vessel Kitchen really appreciate the fresh and the organic. I didn't know what to order because there were so many incredible options, and the lady at the front of the assembly line highly recommended the Sweet Potato Hash with braised beef. The overall flavor was good but a few things were a incomplete for me. The feta sauce was off-putting for me. When a sauce is supposed to complete a meal, this one turned me away. Although, the sweet potato hash was delicious flavor-wise, but lacked in crispiness. Which is hard to do with sweet potatoes and even more so when it sits in a warmer throughout the day. It was underwhelming, but again, the flavor was great! Thank goodness for those pickled onions because those were lovely to the core. I've been very happy with this place and for its first night open in Sandy, Vessel Kitchen did a great job! I'm currently eating their Hash Hash (braised beef, sweet potato hash browns, aged feta, pickled onions, horseradish aioli, and parsley) and it provides that "omg this is a craving I didn't know I had" feeling. It's the same feeling I get when I sink my teeth into an over-easy egg, take a spoonful of peanut butter or soft, coffee ice cream. It's a comforting and almost sultry feeling. I had a taste of my sister's shredded chicken plate with Brussels sprouts and spaghetti squash, also all tasty. The Brussels sprouts are a bit bitter, but the rest of her plate was great. We LOVE vessel. It's like a delicious, healthy home cooked meal but 10x better than anything we could ever cook at home. Personally I love to get a meat with two sides. I've had the roast chicken, pulled pork, and braised beef. All are delicious. My wife had had the tacos as well and loved them. We also love the hash hash bowl. It's all so stinkin good. The sides are so good and there are so many options. I can't help but get the mac n cheese very time. We also love the sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, spaghetti squash, and broccoli. They have plenty of slides including caramelized sweet potatoes, coconut rice and quinoa, roasted brussel sprouts, spicy cauliflower, hummus and pita chips, caesar cashew broccoli, mashed potatoes, and so much more!! They seriously have so many sides. Their protein options are great, too. I ordered the citrus soy tuna, which came RAW! I was surprised because I didn't notice that it said raw on the menu, but I ended up loving it. The portion sizes were perfect. I got what I paid for, and I wasn't hungry at all after I left. The restaurant is new and clean and inviting. Decided to try the tacos so I could try a couple different meats. Went with the Southern chicken and the Fresno pork. I was very impressed with the amount of meat in the taco and also the amount of the veggies and other things in there. Do get a good stack of napkins because they are juicy! And very unique having the "shell" be naan bread. My friend tried the falafel taco and out loud said, "wow that's good". She didn't expect how good it was. Imagine the pleasant surprise when I ordered Steelhead with sides of bone broth and pickled beets! Everything ranks highly on my diet! Even the seasonings were spot on! Fortunately, they have done a fine job with the locally, ethically sourced ingredients they have so carefully curated from around Utah. The food is simple and fresh; the kind that leaves you feeling satisfied at the end of your meal without feeling like you need to unbutton your pants. And, looks aren't everything, but the rainbow of colors that make up their side selections is every bit as pretty as it is delicious. I love good food, good design, good ethics and supporting small businesses and the local economy. Vessel Kitchen embodies all of those things. Tonight, I got it again because it was so good last week and guess what? Brussels were terrible. I threw almost all of them away. I really enjoy this restaurant. My husband and I often go here when we're in the mood for some really good flavorful food. We often times get the same thing it's called the hash hash. It's so delicious it consists of some very good flavor for me of your choice and it's put over of healthy scoop of baked Sweet potatoes they like to go on a ship with some really big delicious horseradish sauce and then they top it off with some marinated red onions. It is very flavorful. Don't be afraid to try all their other things they have it on display in deli style in the store and it looks so appetizing. Their dishes are beautiful to the eye and very flavorful. The service is good and they are making a great effort to be earth friendly when you dine in this deli style restaurant they serve the food on regular plates and don't use plastic forks but the real ones they use reusable cups for water. I really like this place in the field very inviting attractive and clean and friendly service. May I add that they pay $15 an hour to their employees and employers will also get tipped by the customers which makes their wage way better than most food service establishments. read more
