Came here on recommendation of friends and had a good experience. They seem to have a very diverse menu. I enjoyed the cheese curds very much as well as the red beans and rice. I had their version of French dip (Prime Rib Roll) and it was good, nothing that excited me, however. On another visit I also had the beef stroganoff. I didn't like it too well. Way too vinegary, sour flavor. I've never had such a vinegary stroganoff before. There were tons of pasta and beef. The portion was very generous. I started to eat my leftovers. The flavor just rubs me the wrong way. I don't know, I think they try too hard to be "different" or maybe their menu chef's tastes just don't jive with mine. Four stars because of the quality of ingredients, but just not for me. Give it a try to see if it fits your palate. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. My friend had the beef stroganoff and it was flavorful and fresh, I had pork chops with mashed potatoes and collard green. Disappointing, except for waiter Bob. Ordered a margarita, a beer and 2 Bistro burgers. Margarita was a typical Utah one, 1 and 1/2 oz of tequila and my beer was a large format something or another and it was ok (I'm not a beer aficionado but it was not bad). Both burgers were wayyyy overcooked and dry. I had ordered mine with their upsale truffle fries and they were terrible...all of them floppy and unappetizing with a ramekin of what might have been fry sauce but it was white-ish/mayo stuff. My gf only ate 1/2 of hers and I ate all of mine because I was hungry. I called over waiter Bob and showed him the floppy fries and my, at that time, 1/2 eaten dry, overcooked burger. He was very apologetic and asked, several times, if they could remake our burgers which I declined. Bob also asked what he could do to make it right and I said, "thanks but nothing is necessary" as I wasn't looking for any type of compensation or a freebe (not my style). I proceeded to ask for the check and waiter Bob mentioned 1 of the burgers was taken off the check (again, I had not asked). I left a 20% tip for the amount the check should have been rather than the actual amount I was charged because the service as well as Bob's customer service was above and beyond however the meal was disappointing. read more

We tried Localz Bistro for the first time yesterday and were impressed. Our server Brandon did a great job taking of our table, he was attentive and polite. Two of us ordered the miso salmon with goat cheese grits, my husband had the ahi tuna sandwich. The food came out hot and was delicious. We came on Halloween 2023, and the restaurant was decorated and all festive. Live music tonight. All the workers were all dressed up in costumes! Very fun and fun-loving group of people. Lexie took care of us and was super sweet, nice, and attentive. She was cute and made us laugh as we were asking about "Utah things." Chicken and Seafood Gumbo: Chicken, Andouille Sausage, Shrimp, Basmati Rice. This had a nice kick to it. The spices and all the flavors melted together into a good gumbo. Was it authentic? I don't know, but it was a good dish. Poutine: "Canadian Nachos" House Cut Fries, Cheese Curds, Demi, Bechamel Sauce. Unfortunately, my wife doesn't like soggy fries, so she had them put the sauces on the side. Regardless, the fries were nice and crisp. I had a few that I thought were oily, but that was only a few. The rest of them were done really well! The sauces were delicious, especially the bechamel sauce - creamy and rich. My only grip was that these cheese curds did not have the squeak we are used to having. Aside from that, I'd get these again! Red Bean & Rice: Tooele Andouille Sausage, Pork Belly, Red Beans, Basmati Rice, & Cornbread. This was just ok, as I felt the dish was too watery. The cornbread was a little dry. BBQ Shrimp & Grits: New Orleans Style, Tomato, Rosemary, Garlic, Cayenne, & Beer. Ok, I am glad Lexie recommended this dish as I thought they did an excellent job. Rich, bold, with a slight spice to this. The grits weren't smooth, but they were creamy but had a bite to them. The sauce was enough to eat with the grits. Fried Chicken and Greens: Crispy Chicken Breast, Mashed Potato, Collard Greens, with Demi Glaze Gravy. Lexie asked if we wanted the sauce on the chicken, and yes, we did. Pounded chicken breast so it would cook evenly dredged into they flour mixture and deep fried to a golden brown. Chicken was flavorful. The Collard Greens were very good. You could taste the love and dedication in simmering these greens with ham pieces. The mashed potatoes were creamy and smooth. Great overall dish, but very tasty! Or should I say, too savory. For drinks, I ordered a Roy Roger's, and Lexie looked at me like, "What? I had never heard of that drink before!" Poor girl, she was adorable. The name is fitting-I imagine this is a place where all the locals come for lunch. It has a vibe that reminds me of a neighborhood hangout and I could see myself coming here regularly if I lived nearby. There is a lovely outdoor patio with umbrellas for shade. Service is attentive and professional. The wait staff are very friendly and do whatever they can to make your visit pleasant. The gumbo is delicious-although it's very spicy. I found that it was a little more runny than I would prefer and it could have used more meat than it had. The jambalaya was also tasty with a bit of a kick. This was once my favorite local spot to get a chicken sandwich. They were so insanely good! Yesterday, I did my usually pick up order, but upon my arrival at home I noticed the chicken looked much different than it normally does. It was not the thick juicy cut of perfectly fried chicken. It was flat, the breading was pulling away from the meat, and honestly looked like the frozen breaded chicken patties of my youth. . The fries are an upcharge but they weren't very good, so I would recommend sticking to chips as your side. As he showed us to our table, a few other people greeted us too! We both got burgers. They come with chips (kettle chips I think) or you can upgrade to fries or salad. My friend got chips and I got fries. Burgers are 1/2 lb. It comes with basic toppings, lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese, bacon. I got mine without bacon. There are also other toppings you can add for a few bucks. Burger was pretty good and came out quick! Service was excellent! I have mixed emotions about this place. Although a little on the pricey side, the food here is good but oh my gosh the attitude of the employees is ridiculous. I guess that's what happens when you hire teenagers who don't have a clue about what customer service is. We were met by this snooty hostess with a " I'm too good for this job attitude " who made us wait nearly twenty minutes even though the place was not at all crowded. Then our server, miss I never smile, came by to take our drink orders. Not once did she appear to be friendly and seemed almost annoyed to do her job. The only time she forced a smile was when she handed me the check. I was so tempted not to leave a tip but I did, ten percent which seemed to be too high for her. One side of me wants to go back and give it another shot but the other side says why support a business who can't train their staff appropriately, specially with so many restaurants in the area.
