Monte Cristo, 2.5/5 stars 8/9/25
Heather K.

GETTING HERE: Located at 12234 Draper Gate Drive in Draper, Utah, and is relatively "up high" on a hill, cough cough, Utah mountains. :) it's above the Walgreens. REVIEW: I will call this a one-off visit, and when I am next in Utah, I will give them another try. Rounding up to 4 stars for the hustle from our server. We were a party of 3 and ordered a variety of good dishes. Unfortunately, my guest had a hard time with their Ghost of Monte Cristo and had to send it back. They then ordered a burger. But the process from needing to send back the Monte Cristo to getting the replacement meal was unbelievably painful, and IMO it didn't need to be. I am not sure if our server was getting flak from someone in the kitchen, but I would have preferred the exchange to have been much smoother. My guest was made to feel as if she was inconveniencing the server/staff for not being able to eat the Monte Cristo (it was over-cooked and appeared to have been made in fried chicken batter that was hard and crunchy). Their Cliff Tacos were great; served hot and without issue. They were very good. My other guest had the Eggs Benedict and said it was very tasty and well-made. In conclusion, service made up for the bumpy interchange with the Monte Cristo; our server was sincere, and it showed. As we visited at lunch time, I can't wait to try again during dinner. The vibe is very bougie, and I am sure it's hopping on the weekend.

Breakfast Burrito

Just mediocre. We have been here for dinner and now for brunch. Food came out fairly quick for a group of 6 - luke warm for at least a couple dishes. It's so unfortunate to have such a beautiful setting and just not the food to draw me back. Service - ok!The ambiance at night is gorgeous! Brunch was better than dinner has been..... bummer.

Food was delicious. Atmosphere was perfect.. We had the stacked chicken nachos for the appetizer then I had Prime rib and it was amazing.. husband had a French dip with loaded potato soup. For drinks highly recommend the Tito's Ohana

Two Stars: Because I didn't get food poisoning, but I did get a lettuce stump Look, I came here to eat, drink, and be merry. I ended up playing Chopped: Sad Hour Edition. Started with a Tito's -- always a safe bet, right? Wrong. The limes were so old I think they remembered Y2K. Pretty sure one of them sighed when it hit the glass. Moved on to the Brussels sprouts, which were apparently just raw cabbage cubes with commitment issues. No flavor, no crisp, just vibes. Ordered fish and chips. The lemon? A dehydrated relic from a forgotten era. I squeezed it and nothing happened. I think it gave up before I did. The salad was the final twist. Not only did it come with the wrong dressing (fun), but it also featured the lettuce stump. Like, the actual core. Is this a hidden message? Was this a test? Should I have made a wish? Anyway, service was fine, and we had a laugh -- so two stars. But next time, I might just go home and aggressively microwave a frozen dinner. At least that has consistent seasoning.

We love this place. First visit was last week. We had to go back within a week. I had no idea of this nice place was just close to my house. Great design I usually go closer to The Salt Lake and not South. The ambience was beautiful. The staff was friendly and helpful. The view was beautiful. I have been told they have a great brunch Saturday and Sunday. We had a new appetizer that we're finding in restaurants, sushi nachos. Delicious. We had sushi the first night. It was great. My girlfriend liked the margaritas and I had a Heineken Zero for the first time. A great nonalcoholic beer. Christian was our server and a very helpful and friendly. The second time was Ashlee and the same. We had the coconut shrimp appetizer, and the skillet crabcakes. Both were superb. It was nice to run into Raul who's worked in another restaurant that we visit. The restaurant is divided in two areas a large dining area and a bar area where alcohol is served.. We will be back.

I've been wanting to check this place out for a while so I was excited to go! I like that they have a pub side (21+) and a dining side for family. We sat on the pub side and it had a pretty view of the valley. The server was nice, but I think they may have been busy with a party, we had to wait for water refills and quite a while to get the check. We ordered the crab Rangoon and Brussels sprouts to start. Definitely recommend the Brussels, they were delicious and the crab Rangoon had an appropriate amount of filling and paired well with the sauce. For the main dishes we ordered Monterrey stuffed chicken and the prime rib. The sauce with the chicken and potatoes was absolutely delicious but it is a smaller dish so I do wish the portion was a little bigger. The prime rib was good with the au jus and the garlic potatoes it comes with were phenomenal but just trapped under the giant prime rib. I would be open to go back and trying some of their other dishes!

Birthday dinner last week at The Cliff. We sat out on the patio and it was great! I ordered the Miso Halibut and it was delicious! Service was good as well

The Cliff in Draper is hands-down one of my favorite spots! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with warm, welcoming vibes and a team that truly goes above and beyond. Ashley, Brittany, Grace, Alex, and Aspen are absolute rockstars--each of them brings a friendly energy and professionalism that make the experience feel personal and enjoyable every time. The food? Incredible. Whether you're in the mood for something fresh and light or hearty and comforting, every dish is packed with flavor and beautifully presented. You can tell they take pride in both the ingredients and the creativity behind the menu. Pair that with the great atmosphere and stunning views, and it's easy to see why this place is a local favorite. If you haven't checked out The Cliff yet, you're missing out. Great food, even better staff, and an experience that keeps you coming back.

Carrot cake. My buddy loved it.

Mmmm. How do I add more stars?!?! We're back! The NYE diners are hungry and so glad we're here. Friday night, fresh from the driving range and hungry... 30 minute wait for a gangster's seating in the back, two person loveseat and three chairs! Perfect! The young lady at the front (Caitsby) was checking in with us, updating the remaining wait time and when we were 5 minutes out she brought us a menu to order an appetizer and have it ready for delivery as we sat. Her timing was impeccable and at the same insistence Coda, our food server was taking drink orders and providing excellent service. Smiling and engaging... more than 5 stars please. Come to find out Caitsby is a "solutions provider/manager) 10 stars for her service and kindness. The vibe is busy with lots of happy faces. What another great night at the Cliffs. Caitsby! Manager Dakota aka Coda Service par excellence

The cliff dining pub is really delicious for both dinner and breakfast. I've gotten multiple dishes I really enjoy including their stacked chicken nachos...but with steak instead of chicken. I enjoy the atmosphere of the restaurant and in the summer I t's nice dining on their patio.

Spinach artichoke dip
Rebekka B.

Overall we really liked this place! Food: the spinach artichoke appetizer was meh, not great. Weirdly soupy? The Cliff Burger was good! (The homemade pickles were to die for... I literally almost asked for a side of extra homemade pickles they were so good lol). And the filet was delicious and SO tender! Service: Sophie our waitress was the cutest!! She made it a wonderful experience! Ambiance: super loud fancy bar vibes ;)

Miso Halibut

I'd like to start by telling you that the Sushi Nachos were a 15 out of 10 for me, and I would go back for those alone. That said, this is a great spot with an excellent view for the sun setting over the mountains. The menu is fairly big, with plenty of options for all palates, and a kids menu! The service was great, and I know my dad and brother frequent the bar in this spot and always get excellent service with staff who remember them and know "the usual" order. We started with the sushi nachos and calamari, which were both a hit. Two of us ordered the Miso Halibut, and that Shoyu Cream Sauce was everything to top that dish off. The kids menu includes options of Salmon, Pasta, Cheeseburger/Hamburger, Grilled Cheese, or Chicken tenders. You also get to pick a side, a drink, and vanilla or chocolate ice cream for the side. At $13 it's slightly more expensive than some kids meals, but for the amount of food (all of which our 3 year old loved) I'd say it was worth it!

I like supporting local business especially while traveling sometimes you have to go to the chain…read morebut sometimes you don't. In this instance so glad I didn't Sauce Boss was amazing. We chose it because it was close to the hotel how lucky are we. We went with a group of five. We ordered three entrees and a side of wings. The wings were our starter and they were fantastic black and wings are great highly recommend. My wife and I split the fried chicken with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy and the cornbread it was absolutely fantastic cannot speak highly enough. My mom and dad split the shrimp and grits which they also said was great I did try the grits they were lovely, gooey, cheesy awesomeness. My sister had the kale salad as she needs gluten-free options it was easily the largest most fantastic looking kale salad I've ever seen, and she said it was great. The last thing I would probably comment on is the sauces with a name like sauce boss it better have good sauce and it did. Each and every sauce was unique from others I've had but didn't disappoint all where extremely tasty I especially like the spicy one that came with the fried chicken. At this restaurant they don't have salt and pepper on the table and for good reason everything was spiced and seasoned very well. As for service, our server was very attentive, very kind, made great suggestions and all that being that we came in within a half an hour, 45 minutes of closing, you can't beat that!!! If you want boring food don't eat here. If you want the same plain Jane thing you find at every other chain, don't eat here! On the other hand, if you want amazingly tasty food, service and sauces and a good story to tell eat here!!!

Draper, Utah…read more Southern food? Fried catfish? All in the middle of Utah? I had to try it. This is a sit down and order restaurant. Very casual inside, white walls with metal chairs and concrete floor. Very simple. Very small space. About 14 tables. I have food, allergies, and the waitress answered all of my questions. But then she sent the chef/owner, Julius, over to talk with me. Pleasant man from Chicago. But his recipes are all from his family who lived in the South. I ordered the fried catfish which is accompanied with two sides. I chose the candied yams and the mac & cheese. My husband ordered the fried chicken with mashed potatoes, potatoes, and gravy and the macaroni and cheese. Both plates are served with a slice of cornbread with a large honey butter smothered on top. The food came out very hot. The breading on the catfish is very thick and a lot of spices. I was pleasantly surprised when I cut my catfish and discovered it was deboned and tender. The mac & cheese was creamy and the candied yams were super sweet. Just the way I prefer them. They did seem a bit runny, but the flavor was good. The fried chicken was unbelievably moist. The breading was thick and crunchy. The mashed potatoes were of course, homemade with spices, and the brown gravy is chicken based. The cornbread was delicious. Comes with a slab of honey butter. I only wish it was served warm. It would've made the experience perfect. The food portions are large. The food has wonderful flavor with the perfect spice and southern heat. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I would give it 4.8 stars. The only two things that brought it down from a perfect score were the cornbread being cold, and the restaurant was not a cozy feel. Please come check this restaurant out and meet Julius.

However, even though it was a small "staff," service was top notch and welcoming. I enjoyed an order of Pad Thai while my dining partner had the Red Curry. We both acknowledged that the dishes were different than we had experienced in other restaurants in the past. Not bad, just different....unexpected. My Pad Thai had almost a tomato/sweet flavor to it. I'm not sure it's going to be my new favorite, but it was pleasant enough. I'd likely return, but I might try a different dish-maybe something new to me so I don't have a preconceived notion of what it "should" be like.

We had the lettuce wraps, banh mi sandwich (bread was not as soft as I'd expected, but had more crunch). The burger was actually good and flavorful! The restaurant seemed a tad run down. Place could use a good wipe down cleaning. But overall happy to support a mom and pop shop!

Not a single open table. PACKED. And honestly... now I get it. I'll be real--I went in a little unsure. Most of the reviews are a few years old, and while there are photos posted by the owner, they don't say what anything is (which made ordering a bit of a guessing game). A few things I asked about were actually old specials... which was a little disappointing. BUT--this is where it turned. Our server went out of his way to ask the kitchen if they could recreate a taco salad I saw in one of the photos... and they said yes. Immediate gold star. And when the food came out?? Massive. Like... borderline shocking portions. My taco salad was on a giant Navajo taco base and LOADED--cheesesteak-style meat, fajita onions, peppers, lettuce, tomato, avocado, chipotle dressing, salsa... every bite was so good. And somehow it all stayed in place (which if you've ever fought a falling-apart taco salad, you know matters ). My husband got the fish and chips and I'm usually not a fish and chips girl--but this?? I'd order it myself next time. Flaky, moist fish with the crispiest, lightest batter. So, so good. We finished with cheesecake (raspberry key lime + blueberry sour cream). They were good and fresh, but not quite as wow as the entrees--just wished they were a little creamier and the key lime had more tang. But overall? We walked in unsure... and left already planning what we'd order next time. Safe to say: totally unexpected, totally impressed, and 100% coming back.
