It's great to see food this good in this location. It's not New Orleans by any means, but I got my fix of good cajun/creole food here. I found everything to be rich and flavorful. I loved the mahi-mahi, the etouffee, and the low country shrimp & grits in particular. The BBQ shrimp & grits were a little too sweet for my liking. The place seemed popular and had a short wait, but it seemed well organized, and food came out at a normal pace.
Nice spot for southern comfort food. Vibe is laid back, and the food is tasty. I got the chef chicken sandwich with truffle fries, and a cup of gumbo. Everything was delicious and comforting! The gumbo was flavorful and I'm glad I got a cup of it to try. The fried chicken sandwich was great too, and the portion was pretty large. I definitely had leftovers to take home. If you're looking for southern food or comfort food, Localz Bistro is a nice spot! And I'd recommend trying to gumbo
Chick-fil-a has a better chicken sandwich than this place. My wife got the Jambalaya and the dish did not have the amount of food I'd expect for a $22 dollar entree. This ambiance was like a southern version of Chili's. The waiter was nice but never came back to refill our waters. We won't be coming back here.
Came here on recommendation of friends and had a good experience. They seem to have a very diverse menu. I enjoyed the cheese curds very much as well as the red beans and rice. I had their version of French dip (Prime Rib Roll) and it was good, nothing that excited me, however. On another visit I also had the beef stroganoff. I didn't like it too well. Way too vinegary, sour flavor. I've never had such a vinegary stroganoff before. There were tons of pasta and beef. The portion was very generous. I started to eat my leftovers. The flavor just rubs me the wrong way. I don't know, I think they try too hard to be "different" or maybe their menu chef's tastes just don't jive with mine. Four stars because of the quality of ingredients, but just not for me. Give it a try to see if it fits your palate. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!
A good comfort food restaurant. Locally owned and operated with excellent staff. Sarah was our server and was exceptional. The evenings special was their fish and chips that my daughter ordered and was very good. I had the prime rib roll which was also good. The horseradish sauce helps it out. Lively popular place that is clean and bright.
The view from this restaurant is beautiful. The staff is friendly and attentive and the food is very delicious. I had a cup of rice and beans soup, it was hearty. My friend had the beef stroganoff and it was flavorful and fresh, I had pork chops with mashed potatoes and collard green. I rarely eat pork but when the chops were recommended to me by the server, I had to try it. It had a nice char flavor from the grill and it was seasoned right and flavorful. The collards green were tender and vinegary!it was so comforting. The bread pudding was also out of this word delicious and you get a thick serving with ice cream, whipped cream and strawberries.
Back again, and the poutine is killer! Like so addictive with the cheesy, gravey goodness! Also really enjoyed the steak sandwich, mine was cooked to perfection! Gf really enjoyed her tuna salad again! Service was a little slow, though not unbearable, but did have to ask more than once for our drinks. We will definitely be back.
Disappointing, except for waiter Bob. Ordered a margarita, a beer and 2 Bistro burgers. Margarita was a typical Utah one, 1 and 1/2 oz of tequila and my beer was a large format something or another and it was ok (I'm not a beer aficionado but it was not bad). Both burgers were wayyyy overcooked and dry. I had ordered mine with their upsale truffle fries and they were terrible...all of them floppy and unappetizing with a ramekin of what might have been fry sauce but it was white-ish/mayo stuff. My gf only ate 1/2 of hers and I ate all of mine because I was hungry. I called over waiter Bob and showed him the floppy fries and my, at that time, 1/2 eaten dry, overcooked burger. He was very apologetic and asked, several times, if they could remake our burgers which I declined. Bob also asked what he could do to make it right and I said, "thanks but nothing is necessary" as I wasn't looking for any type of compensation or a freebe (not my style). I proceeded to ask for the check and waiter Bob mentioned 1 of the burgers was taken off the check (again, I had not asked). I left a 20% tip for the amount the check should have been rather than the actual amount I was charged because the service as well as Bob's customer service was above and beyond however the meal was disappointing.
The burger was as good as it looks, and the poutine and cheese curds are bomb. Highly recommend you get all 3!

Meat and potatoes, ah, the culinary love story of the ages! It's like Batman and Robin, Thor and his hammer, An old lady and her 12 cats, a match made in gastronomic heaven! Think about this, succulent meat, sizzling on the grill, paired with hot crispy french fries seasoned perfectly - it's a symphony of flavors, a tango of taste buds all drenched in gravy!!! It is a simple meal. Meat and potatoes don't need a fancy chef or a culinary degree to shine. It's the goat of meals, the Chuck Norris of cuisine - no frills, all thrills. Easy but complex, Even a kitchen klutz like me can whip up a masterpiece worthy of a Michelin star but to build a meal Worthy of a Swiss time piece it must be done to perfection. This chef is a master watchmaker. And let's not forget practicality. Meat and potatoes are like the Swiss Army knife of food - they have everything you need. Protein? Check. Carbs? Double check. Satisfaction that can only be described as a warm hug from your grandma? Triple check! In a world full of food trends and fancy worthless decor to lore one into their establishments, meat and potatoes stand tall as the beacon of real basic mealdom. This is worth trying. I highly recommend, come grab your fork, dig in, and let the meaty, potato-y goodness take you to flavor heaven! P.S The strawberry Carmel cheesecake is really good also! Enjoy! Excellent food and service! I came here today for the first time with one of my best friends for lunch, and we were very impressed with the menu selections. They even have vegan items to choose from on the menu. We saw that have our favorite foods ; poke, ceviche, and seafood tacos that were mahi-mahi and very delicious! We will be definitely coming back here for future meals! read more

This place had amazing reviews so I wanted to try it of course! The burger was a little dry for the meat but the chicken sandwich was great! I also tried the gumbo soup that was great as well. The fries were fine, nothing amazing. The burger came with chips. The place seemed clean and wasn't very busy for lunch time. The service was pretty slow however. I think the waitress came by mayb 2 times. I may go back another time in the future but not for awhile. read more
I love the people here so much, I really felt like the staff was family - and they were so caring! There is so much I love about this place food wise too - the poutine is to absolutely die for. The drinks were also amazingly superb! It really hurts me to do this, but the reason I'm withholding my 5th star is because some of the sandwich items tasted tasted a bit funk / lacking sufficient flavor. That being said, all the non-sandwich food was splendidly amazing. This is a go to place (if they have openings), for regulars and visitors alike! read more

The food was awesome. We have been here a few times and I've had the Crawfish &Shrimp Etouffee twice now. My wife is a vegetarian and she had the grilled cheese and soup. Our second trip she had The Vegan sandwich. We have always had good service. The dining area was a little loud. read more
Good food and service. This place was a surprise. The red beans and rice were good. I'd order them again. Ordered the poutine and it was great! Definitely suggest that. Chicken sandwich was really good too. Good crispy ness flavor of toppings wasn't as strong as I'd of liked but the Christen was good and flavorful. read more

I hate so say this but usually when it comes to strip mall restaurants, there's something in the back of my head saying "Ugghhh". While that voice made a peep yesterday, we still decided to plow down and chow down here for a senior citizen type of dinner time of 5pm. We didn't eat lunch so right away we wanted to appetizer it up with their Buffalo Wings. They didn't stand a chance of not being finished of more than 5 minutes. They had some sort of char to them which was a nice take instead of your usual deep fried wings. Then I tried their Steak Sandwich with their homemade fries on the side. Woe, that bread was sooo soft and the steak was hearty and cooked a perfect Medium Rare. It had some cheese, diced sautéd onions and diced green peppers. It was great and could only do half and an amazing amount of seasoning and salt on those fresh cut fries. There is plenty of parking available and the staff was so friendly, welcoming and attentive as well. Super cool spot and we can't wait to go back! read more
This is a place that doesn't really seem to know who they are. They've got sort of a Southern food Louisiana vibe with things like Gumbo a Jambalaya, BBQ Shrimp and Grits, Crawfish and Shrimp Etouffee. But if you go in before dinner you can't order an entrée or from the grill so it's more like sandwiches burgers and hot dogs. They offer an alcohol menu and they have a small bar seating area but the rest of the place didn't really have a "this is a place to get a drink" vibe. They were playing reggae and island type music when we were there. We started with the Jalapeno, Bacon-Wrapped, BBQ Shrimp. Two smallish skewers with moderately overcooked shrimp with a very sweet but otherwise sort of bland BBQ sauce and I had to double check the menu to make sure it said there was jalapeno and afterwards I was able to identify some. I feel like $16 was a significant overspend for what we got. My wife and I ended up ordering hot dogs, although that wasn't really what we went in there looking for. My wife originally ordered the Chili Cheese Dog and I ordered the Chicago Dog. Quite a bit after we ordered the server came back and let my wife know they didn't have any Chili so she'd have to change her order. She ended up getting the All American Dog. I really like a good Chicago Dog. The meat was tasty and it was a large hot dog. Unfortunately the bun was completely overstuffed and there was no way that the hotdog could be picked up and eaten as a hotdog so I had sort of a deconstructed Chicago Dog that I ate with a fork. The tomato was cut into 1/4 wedges and was the single biggest offender to prevent me from picking up the dog and eating it. I opted for "kettle chips" which were nothing at all like kettle chips and were basically generic ruffles. My wife's hotdog was fine and she opted for fries with a garlic aioli which was really good. So the Localz Bistro doesn't have any real local connection and absolutely not a local theme or menu. read more

This place is cute and the service was great for me and my group of friends -- we weren't in a rush. Our waiter gave us his recommendations and plenty of time to chat and decide. I tried the Hatch Mac and Cheese which was ultra creamy, and cheesy with flavorful notes of hatch peppers without being spicy. Loved it! I also got a cup of the Red Beans and Rice which wasn't anything to write home about. The cornbread was dry, crumbly, and savory (not sweet like I like). It was better eaten doused inside the cup of soup. The waiter said all the items are from scratch for the desserts down to the caramel sauce. My friends and I shared the cheesecake and bread pudding. Both HUGE servings and very delicious. Definitely need to share if you're getting dessert. Overall we enjoyed our meals and would go back. read more
We went here on the recommendation for my son. I'm surprised this place isn't more booked out that it is. The bread pudding, the gumbo, the Alfredo, and our favorite barbecue shrimp and grits were all just amazing. Combine that with really good service, and this place is just considered amazing. I'm so glad we went with the barbecue shrimp, as that is what the waiter recommended and it was not what I was originally planning to order. It's not something I usually go for. But I still dream of that incredibly unctuous sauce. Very good gumbo. We shared. Next time we will not share. I want my own. I'm always on a hunt for bread pudding. If it's on the menu, you bet I'm going to order it. Usually I'm disappointed, when ordering bread pudding and it's just a brick. This bread pudding was lovely, light, incredible custard, and fantastic sauce. Absolutely no disappointment in this house! read more

There were ten of us who visited Localz for a birthday celebration. Walking into the restaurant it was a lot bigger than it appeared from the outside and they were easily able to sit our large group. The wait staff were all very polite and didn't seemed bothered by the large group, which was a plus. The only downfall is that all of our meals came out at separate times. Our last person was just barely getting their meal while the first person to get their meal had finished and was waiting while the rest of the table ate. We ordered a wide variety of food, starting with poutine and cheese curds, both of which were delicious. We also had the bacon cheeseburger, jambalaya, Localz dog, alfredo pasta, and side salad, just to name a few. The hamburger was ok, you couldn't really taste the cheese on it. The fries and fry sauce were very good and the pasta had a homemade taste to it. Overall I am not sure if I would go out of my way to eat here again, but if I were in the neighborhood I wouldn't cross it off the list. read more

Cute little place with a beautiful view of the mountains. They have a large outdoor patio with table service that can get filled up fast on a nice evening. They have a bar but are also pretty family friendly. The poutine fries were so good, I loved all the gravy and melted cheese. The BBQ Shrimp and grits were delicious, super flavorful sauce and amazing cheesy grits. The Jambalaya was also pretty good with a flavorful sauce. They have a full bar with lots of cocktails, beer, and wine. I really enjoyed the spicy margaritas the bartender made me and look forward to returning and trying more of their yummy food. read more

Washingtonian here Food: I had a couple things for the first time ever here. #1 Poutine. I think they hand punch the fries and they were cooked to perfection with a generous amount of gravy and cheese curds. 9/10 #2 I had the Low Country Shrimp and Grits and Woow full of flavor and they didn't skimp on the shrimp 9/10 My lady had the Blackened Ahi Tuna . She says 9/10. Then we had crème brûlée for dessert pretty good 8/10 . Next time I'm in Utah we're definitely coming back . Service : I don't recall our servers name but she was on her game 10/10 . Ambiance: If I had to make a slight gripe I'd say for them to find a way to combat the flies for those seated outside. 8/10 read more
Visited localz bistro for the first time last week. Fun spot in Sandy! The menu has a large variety of food. So many amazing options. We ordered the superfood salad and chicken entree. Both dishes were fantastic! The service was really good. Our waitress was very attentive with our waters and asked us if we needed anything multiple times. We really enjoyed our experience and we will be returning! Tip: if you're thinking about getting an appetizer, order poutine! I don't even like gravy and I really enjoyed this dish. read more

We're rarely in this neighborhood, but YELP said it was open and had decent reviews. They say in the winter it's a popular stop on the way to / from skiing. The ambiance is like a ski lodge with a lot of wood separating sections of the dining area and bar. A few TVs are showing sports games. Service here is just right... the hostess was authentically personable as she seated us, our server gave us honest recommendations, and we were checked on several times by different people. We weren't expecting the food to be as good as it turned out. Not because of what the place looked like, but the plates came out with the thoughtful appearance of a dining room instead of pseudo sports bar. The miso salmon plate was flavorful and cooked perfectly. My fried chicken sandwich was good - the bun is toasted, the fried chicken thick and juicy, the coleslaw wasn't noticeable, and I wish there were sliced pickles on it (there is a pickle spear on the plate). The truffled fries are really good (but my favorite is at Lake Powell's Antelope Point marina restaurant, for comparison). These had more Parmesan than truffle oil, but done well with skins on the fries. We would go out of our way to come back. We were so pleased with our dishes that we wonder what other items are like. Found this place looking for a lunch spot on Yelp. We are visiting in from Louisiana, so decided to get the poutine as an appetizer. And wow! Just the perfect amount of mouthwatering cheese curds and warm liquid cheese spread across perfectly crispy made from scratch fries. I ordered myself the superfood salad with ahi tuna. Let me tell you that ahi was seared to perfection and had flavorful spice in every bite. The salad itself made me do a happy dance and it was a very good portion of food for the price! Hands down my favorite restaurant I think I have ever eaten. Also the staff was over the moon joyful ! I witnessed one of the staff members helping and elderly women all the way to her car without a jacket on!! Very clean , and nice vibe all around. I will recommend this place to everyone in sight! read more
