Steamed Spinach Dumplings
Robert G.

Little disappointed at this place. Saw they had Crispy Beef with Fresh Honey Walnuts Beef with a bed of steamed broccoli in a sweet brown sauce topped with sugared walnuts. Not crispy as from can see in pic. Was this really beef also? Walnuts were plain as well.Steamed Spinach Dumplings were a bit dry . Hunan Dumplings Spinach and beef dumplings topped with spicy peanut sauce. Spicy. I got not spicy but were very good. Would I try again. Yes think I would.

Wowie! I took my girlfriend here and we had mixed vegetable soup, wonton soup, tofu with three mushrooms, and the hunan garden. The food was so amazing - portions were large and came with rice. We couldn't finish it all. The tofu was great and the sauces were well prepared - not too salty at all, and the vegetables all had a great texture. The environment was also great, and it was not loud at all. We will definitely be coming back to try their plant based meat selection!

Overwhelming amount of options, without proper guidance from the servers. All of the items were fresh however the taste was okay. Brown sauce is a nice mixture of sweet and tasty. Good option for kids Will have to come back to try different sauces / items

Peking Duck, Orange Flavored Beef

I loved this place!!! We ordered the peking duck and orange beef and they felt like very nice portions. They were flavorful, saucy, and delicious (albeit quite salty, but that's my personal taste). The faux meat is chewy and delish. I want to come back so bad and try the honey walnut shrimp and all the other stuff on the menu! I also find the interior beautiful and it makes the experience of eating even better.

Roast pork

Service is impeccable and the food top notch. Authentic vegan fare. I absolutely love this place.

We had such a great evening out here last Saturday night! This restaurant is over an hour's drive for us but a friend recommended it and we were excited to try their food. It's a completely vegetarian restaurant that uses a variety of plant based ingredients to simulate the flavor and texture of meat. (The menu explains that although the dishes are named "beef" or "chicken", it's a description of what the plant based product is similar to in texture and flavor.) We were a party of 7 people, and we ordered 3 appetizers and 6 main dishes with 6 bowls of white and brown rice, so we could all share and try some of everything. Some of us had eaten plant based meat before and for some in our group that kind of food was new. All of us agreed the food was really good! Of everything we ordered, the 2 standouts were the Bang Bang Beef and Chicken ($15.95) and the Ginger Chicken ($12.95). Both those dishes had zesty flavors and pleasing textures. Some in our group tried the various bubble teas and fruit juices. The person who got the Watermelon juice said it was refreshing and delicious. The service was efficient and polite. We had reservations, and were seated as soon as we arrived. Food came out very quickly and even with seven people, we were finished an hour and a half. The price was reasonable for the quality and amount of food offered. The restaurant is clean and bright, with an uplifting green leafy plant decor and garden vibe. There's a wall of big windows looking out to the lively sidewalks of downtown Montclair. I highly recommend eating here!

Vegan Chicken Nuggets

A buddy of mine suggested that we go here because of a recent lifestyle change to veganism. We hear all the time about vegan this or that, and I know some frown when brands and restaurants call food vegan "insert meat," but their ability to mimic the flavor of chicken and beef was mind-blowing. The service was great and attentive--no issues there. I wanted to try a variety of items so I ordered chicken nuggets, chicken and broccoli, spring rolls, and samosas. My friend got a beef dish. Everything was seasoned and cooked well. The food was full of flavor. I could not believe I was eating vegan meat; they nailed the texture perfectly. I will definitely be adding vegan dining options into the mix. Hopefully, the others are just as good as Veggie Heaven.

I'm a regular here. I've been dining here 20+ years! The food is vegan and delicious! The service is great (although the last time I was here with friends, we were sitting around for almost an hour before one of my friends got a staff member to come over and take our order). This place is great! I've been coming here for years. It has never disappointed. I've come here with a friend who is not a fan of vegetarian food and he loved this place. The service is always efficient and accommodating. It's usually pretty quiet there and chill.

This place has been plant based for as long as I can remember! They have multiple locations all over NJ, but I usually go to the Montclair or Parsippany restaurants. Their food is always made to perfection, and everything on the menu is so so so good. My family and I get the lo mein, one of the tofu main dishes, general Tso's tofu, and a vegan dessert. If you go over the weekend then it'll be pretty packed, but trust me, the wait is worth it!

Veggie Heaven used to be my go to spot in Montclair. I hadn't been back in a while so I took a trip over there. Got there around 1 and we were seated right away. It was really uncomfortably hot in the restaurant. It was an 88 degree day and it was breezier outside than in the shop. I was glad to see they still had their lunch special options. Tons of plates for around 7-9 dollars which is a great deal these days. We started with the assorted dim sum which is always good, the yam fries and the scallion pancake. All were good, I wish the pancakes had more scallions but the dim sum was great. I got the general tsao chicken and it was alright, the texture is different from the last time I remember it. My boyfriend got pork lo mein and that was very tasty. Service is great yes, but to a point where they are all so on top of you that they take away the plates too quickly and almost rush you out, the place was nearly empty and I felt a little rushed. It's alright, it was good to go back outside into the breeze. Overall, I might have went on an off day. I do love that they have so many veggie options. This place will always have a special place in my heart.

Larry was very accommodating, and helped compose a vegan dish from the setup of another dish. He was considerate to recommend something that would feel "substantial" - something that I really appreciated. It's already a bit inconvenient to come up with a dish on the spot, but to go the extra mile by caring that it would be satisfying as a main dish was really very kind. And it turned out fantastic. This restaurant has so much going for it in the quality of its ingredients and dish compositions. I would encourage the chef to consider how the can apply their creativity to a dedicated vegan dish as well. There's a big world to explore in creating modern, high end, plant-based dishes and I think this restaurant would hit it out of the park ! :)

Friendly staff mostly teenagers and college aged students. Menu wise it offered a great variety and not too pricey in addition to a number of baked goods both savory and sweet. Quinoa kale bowl (2/4) great portion but flavor wise would say it was lacking for sure. Filling and healthy. Chicken schnitzel (5/5) great crispy chicken and batter to chicken ratio was perfect. Piping hot upon serving and yummy side salad with fries for $4 + Marcel Shakshuka (5/5) great flavor and decent portion with a proper amount of pita bread on the side. The focaccia shakshuka was pretty filling and a perfectly cooked runny egg on top. I was truly looking forward to enjoying this place because the Yelp reviews seem to rave about the…read morecozy atmosphere, wonderful service, and the fresh food preparation. But although I found the restaurant to be cozy and my server to be friendly, the food though freshly prepared was just average at best. Let me explain. So, after perusing the menu, I saw a few Mediterranean staples, such as, baba-ghanoush, lentil soup, and a beef Shawarma entrée. So I decided to order all three of those items. Now, let me tell you not only was I excited to taste the food here, but I truly wanted to experience what a majority of people on yelp said about this place and its food. But I soon discovered that you truly cannot trust other peoples opinions when it comes to food. You just literally have to try it yourself to see if it even resembles that cuisines standard benchmarks. Well anyway, let me get to what I thought about the food. The lentil soup it's pretty tasty, but it would serve lukewarm. The baba-ghanoush was also tasty, but the pita bread was stale and void of any flavor. And as for the so-called Beef Shawarma entrée, it was literally chopped up cubes of beef! Nothing near to what a standard Shawarma entrée should resemble, or let alone taste like! To be quite honest, I was so disenchanted with the Shawarma entrée that I asked my server to take it away and just give me the bill. I was ready to go! But my server genuinely saw my disappointment with this so-called Beef Shawarma that she pleaded with me to try another entrée. So I asked her to recommend another entrée to me. And she recommended the Skewered Chicken entrée. So, I caved in and went ahead and ordered this Skewered Chicken entrée. But I should've just went with my gut feeling and just should have paid the bill and left. I say this because it took forever for them to prepare this Skewered Chicken entrée and I mean forever! And this is on a Tuesday night with only two other people inside the restaurant, so literally this place was empty! (Not sure if the Cook made me wait for this dish out of spite for me sending back the first entree but that is my suspicion). Anyway, I got my server's attention and she told me if I could wait a few more minutes because they were plating my dish and that it will be out shortly. And that literally took another 10 minutes. To say that I was eager to get out of this place would be an understatement. I was standing up literally putting on my jacket when the dish finally reached my table. My server asked me kindly to return to my seat and to try her recommended entrée. So I gave her the benefit of the doubt and I did so. The Skewered Chicken entrée was a little better than the so-called Beef Shawarma entrée, but really nothing to write home about. What a letdown! I really wanted to give this restaurant one star, but my server really showed genuine concern about my dining experience. And I truly appreciated that. And so as for my take on Le Souk of Montclair NJ. I would caution spending your hard earned money at this restaurant. The food is mediocre at best and there are a lot of better options in the Montclair area for Mediterranean food.
