We had a reservation but our party was not able to get two tables right by each other. Pan fried vermiceli noodle was not listed on their menu but the chef would do it for us as a special dish request. The dish was well presented and done nicely with the noodles cooked to a golden crust, very crunchy and the stir fried shredded pork with veggies and shitake mushroom tasted delicious with a savory gravy, yum..yum. Our second dish is Beef- bitter melon sauteed with black bean sauce, well cooked and seasoned perfectly. It was a good compliment with rice. Our meal was completed with Wonton soup, nice wonton dumplings was so tasty with meat and shrimp stuffing, served with tender baby bak-choi cabbage, in a broth of deep layer flavors, this dish just made our dinner complete and very satisfying. With the COVID -19 pandemic still taking place, this restaurant has taken good measures to follow health guidelines and protect customers. My Dad has been eyeing this restaurant for a while now, so last weekend we went for my Mom's birthday. The restaurant is located inside of the Great Wall Shopping Mall, therefore, easy parking, lots of people, and a bit of a wait to get seated (the waitress told my dad "the wait is a bit" instead of a time, so we all stood/sat and wondered what that meant). When we got our table, we got tea immediately and 2 menus for 6 people. It took a while for the waitress to take our order (we actually had to get their attention), but the food arrived fairly quickly. This place is inside the Great Wall Mall we found it when we went to the 99 ranch we were trying to decide if we should eat here or the noodle place well the boyfriend wanted seafood. The food here is so good the portions are huge I got chow main and sweet and sour pork I ate it for 2 meals. If you're looking for authentic Cantonese food, this is the place to go. My family and I have been going to V Garden and their different locations (since they've moved before) for a number of years. They're located inside Great Wall Shopping Mall which can be nice since you can go to Ranch 99 afterwards but it's also inside a mall. Their menu is huge and can be overwhelming. There's something for everyone here at V Garden - from authentic, regional Chinese dishes to Hong Kong-style dishes to Chinese-American cuisine, too! We ordered 9 dishes and were done with our meal in an hour! They even gave us free taro tapioca dessert (this is a staple for every table). Food-wise, there were some hits and misses. Here's a list of food that I recommend: - Crab Meat and Fish Maw Soup - Honey Walnut Shrimp - Peking Duck Bao - Garlic String Bean - Salt and Pepper Lobster (~4 lb was $95) Some I don't recommend are: - Beef Steak (Canto Style): the meat was just too chewy and the sauce tasted burnt on the hot clay plate - Oyster Omelette: not sure if it was intended that way, but it didn't have the gravy that Taiwanese oyster omelettes have so I felt it was too bland/dry Overall, I would definitely come back - there are so many dishes to try! This is a refreshing soup with a flavorful mix of mustard greens, tofu, pork and egg. I would advise you order the small as it is enough for about 4 full cups! I crave their sizzling black pepper steak with its seasoning that satisfies my need for beef. The generous portions guarantee that tomorrow you won't have a need to spring for lunch. "Little Known" Super Duper Tip: Since their small demised premises do not allow for a holding tank so do not have fresh lobster or crabs. Take advantage of Ranch 99 there and purchase live Dungeness crabs @ only $5 per lb or live Lobster @ $10 per lb. Bring it to VG and for only $8, they will cook it to your liking. Some of the photos looked pretty good on Yelp, so my brother, sister, and I decided to try this place since we were craving Chinese food. It wasn't too busy yet, but the waitress was acting like it. She took our order in a rush, and kept assuming we were done ordering. I ordered some soy sauce noodles and string beans with minced pork, and then she tried to walk off. We told her we weren't done ordering yet. She took my brother's order, and tried to walk off again. We told her my sister still needed to order something too. We didn't have to wait too long for our food. But the food wasn't as good as it looked; didn't have as much flavor as we had hoped for. And everything was a little pricier than most Chinese restaurants I've been to. We had to ask for water twice (our glasses of water, not the refills, which we also didn't get). Writing this as I'm sitting in here. All of the menus are different as the items listed aren't the same. Pictures labeled with numbers do not match up. Service is horrible! I'm here with my mom and my three little nieces (7 years old and 6) and they only gave us 3 waters meaning three girls share one little cups. Asked for 3 forks but only got chopsticks. My girls don't know how to use chopsticks yet. We ordered Pecking duck, baby bok choy, seafood chowmein, and seafood fung, got the wrong food, no rice, and I asked for all of stuffs three times and finally got off my seat to walk up to them and asked or they wouldn't bring them. Nothing to eat out of, no small rice bowl, no plates, no napkins. Food is so blain and no flavors what so ever. Have been to V Garden many times with acceptable experience. Went on 2/2/2024. Ordered Peking Duck. This is what was served. The skin of Duck and two Duck legs. When I complained with staff, the assured me that this was normal for Peking Duck, I pushed back because having Peking ducks many times before I knew this is not the standard. An older server then said "well, sometimes they are skinny you know, and sometimes not, like you and your friend." So after being served food I was appalled to pay for, I was also insulted. No effort was made to make it right. When this place gets busy, they are more concerned about rushing the crowds through and making more money than with the quality of the food or the service. If you want to go to a restaurant to leave having eaten nothing and needing to waste time and money to go to a restaurant that actually gives you acceptable food, then go here. My family and I often go to 99 Ranch Market for grocery shopping and there are a lot of places to eat in there. We were really unsure of what to eat today as we often eat at the same place and I'm getting tired of eating the same thing. We've actually been here a few times in the past but we're not regulars because the food is meh. We decided to try this place out again and it was a very underwhelming experience. We ended up ordering a beef chow fun and a tofu dish whose name I completely forgot. Both cost $11.95 and the food arrived relatively quickly. The chow fun came first and needless to say, it was drowning in oil. It wasn't stir fried evenly either and I felt kind of gross after eating it. The tofu dish arrived shortly after and although the tofu was soft, the sauce had the texture of congealed gravy. The service here is pretty good as when we were ordering, a server explained the menu to us which was nice. But the quality of the food at the price is disappointing. I would not recommend this restaurant and I think that there are better restaurants in the shopping center. read more

This place used to be our must go restaurant when we go Range99. We ordered take out. 1 fried noodle, 1 shanghai noodle and 1 fried pork chop. The bill was $60. The 2 noodles were good. Mostly noodle, no meat. The fried pork chop is tasteless and ton of fat. They used to have a rule that 30% of item should be the material cost and 70% is for labour, rent, etc. The cost of material today for the 3 dish is less than $10. Crazy prices and under par flavor. Our next visit will be at least a yr or 2 from now after today. Hopefully they get a new chef by that time. read more

We ordered from this restaurant many times before, they were usually good. Today we ordered 5 dishes, almost $100 in total. Two of the dishes we ordered almost every time, Beef in black pepper sauce, what we got was over cooked beef almost too dry to chew and no black pepper sauce favor. Fish in spicy broth. not spicy at all. All the dishes today tasted so poorly, we called back to restaurant and told them about the food, and ofcourse they said it's the regular chefs who made the dishes, and not surprised, no apology. Very deceiveful restaurant. I ordered a whole duck for togo today 3/19/21) and paid $28 for it. When i pick it up the staff told me that it is a whole duck. When i got home i found that one of the back leg and one front wing is missing. Not only that but the duck is a lot smaller than the usual i otdered. Very disappointed that they would actually deceived you like that. I understand that business is hard but cheating your customer is not the way to go. Stay away from this place. read more
