Okay. 5 stars hands down for The boat noodle soap. I highly recommend to everyone. In fact, there's not a soup here that I wouldn't recommend. They do the soups exceptionally well. The restaurant is still small and quaint and the vibe is laid back and chill. Family run and once you're a regular you will feel like family too. The staff is very friendly here. I finally got their papaya salad Lao style but same as to when I ordered it Thai style, it just wasn't spicy. Overall the papaya salad is much better here Thai style than Lao style. I also ordered chicken wings to go and I wish I would have paid attention to the price because it was only 4 total of wingettes and drumettes. And they were pretty small. I was so disappointed bc they were actually pretty good and wanted more. The food is always hot and fresh. And definitely a great local spot. Solid 4.5. Docking half a star since the fried tofu was a miss. The breading did not seem consistent with traditional asian fried tofu. For the mains, my girlfriend and I shared the Nam Tok and Basil Chicken w/ Fried Egg which were both fantastic. We ordered each in Medium which was on the upper end of my american chinese tolerance. Given the choice of breading for the Tofu, i am inclined to believe this would be the same on subsequent visits, not a one off mistake. This little establishment is quite quant and such a cozy space. The dishes we had were phenomenal and tasted like how it was made back in the Mother land ! Amazing and authentic Thai food!! The best dish here for me is the dry noodles. Huge portions for the price. The meat stuff they added in there seems to be homemade and rare to find in the area. The fermented pork salad (nam khao tod) was so gooddd not as spicy as I want it to be but still flavorful and crispy. The service was great! She's checking up on us and accommodate our requests for food. The dish was around $19 per dish not sure how much the salad though. There was no price on the menu. Ended up here on a whim when the Chinese place I wanted to go to wasn't open on Christmas. I went with yellow curry made with tofu and some spring rolls and the counter part got some sort of salmon curry. Service was super quick; we were quoted 15 min, but it was less than that. Kinda makes me wonder if it was a heat-and-eat kind of moment, because if that's the case I could have gone to the frozen section in the grocery store. Containers kept the heat in well and things were still very hot by the time I got back up on East Hill. Visually speaking, the curry was very plain looking. Very beige with no real discernable herbs or spices. That being said, the flavours are definitely in there and the taste was quite good. Well, my tofu curry was good, the salmon curry was hated and thrown into the garbage. Seems like the texture was weird? A cozy mom and pop shop! Loved the atmosphere. Felt like I was dining in a home. We were all too hungry to take pictures since we went with the little ones in the family. But the food was delicious! I've eaten in and ordered out at this place and all times I've been severely under satisfied. The swimming Rama was like half a cup or sorry cut chicken and a cup of spinach. At these prices? Please BEWARE of dirtiness of restaurant. First of all, the young girl that orders and serves your food wears plastic gloves. She uses these same gloves to clean the floors/tables and touch your plate of food. The food itself has a foul taste/smell to it.
