I am writing this review after my move in and move out of US Storage to ensure that I had a positive and consistent experience through out my stay. In short, I would recommend US Storage, especially the Norwalk site and will definitely use them again in the future.
We needed a short term storage unit (3 months) for a large family gathering we just had where we needed to free up a lot of space in the house.
I found that US Storage was relatively close to my house, and after I read through their positive Yelp reviews, I visited the location. My experience over the phone and especially in person is what ultimately convinced me to go with US Storage. During my first visit, I met with Vanessa - customer service was very important to her, and I definitely appreciated that. She provided me a tour of the facility and we discussed the features the facility/company offered, including the security/alarm measures employed, the relatively long access hours and the office hours. We also discussed various prices to help fit my need for a unit for about 3 months. Since this was my first storage unit location visit, I informed Vanessa that I was still shopping around, and she did not attempt to pressure me into signing immediately (which I appreciated).
After determining with the family what size unit we needed and the relevant costs, we did end up signing with US Storage based on their customer service (with Vanessa), the cleanliness of the facility, the security employed at the facility, and the relative cost. We also got to use their truck for a few hours at no cost to help move in (it is not free when moving out though).
US Storage offers a website to help manage/pay the monthly bill, and also set up autopay (I used a credit card with autopay for convenience). This unfortunately is where I experienced my one and only problem with US Storage: I had signed up for autopay immediately after I got the unit to ensure that I wouldn't forget to pay the bill. A few days before the due date, I logged back in and confirmed that autopay was still in effect and so I assumed all was well. However, a few days after this, I received a notification indicating that my bill was past due (you get a few days of a grace period after this warning). When I logged into the site this time, my auto pay schedule had disappeared and we had received a call from someone indicating that we would need to make a payment by physically visiting the the storage site. However, I was able to call the US Storage main office and they were able to clear this up within a few days - it appears that there was some confusion about how autopay would be processed by the Norwalk facility and it was initially cancelled since this facility was under the impression that autopay would not work, but this problem was later resolved. Although this was a little annoying, I did not remove a star from my rating since the problem was ultimately resolved over the phone and I experienced no other problems with autopay (or anything else) after that. I assume that now that they have this figured out, others should not experience this problem anymore.
Moving out was also easy - we made a few trips with our personal vehicle to empty out the unit (the truck they offer is not free for moving out), and then had a quick meeting with Vanessa again who happened to be there again today. She quickly inspected the unit and provided us with a move out receipt. We were not charged for anything extra, and hence the price that we were originally quoted is exactly what we paid in the end.
I will definitely use US Storage for any future storage needs, and will recommend them to my family and friends. While the Norwalk facility and US Storage company is good, I think what ultimately made our overall experience excellent is Vanessa - she was patient with all of my questions, honest about providing the complete costs with no hidden fees, and just had excellent overall customer service. read more
