Manager ELENA NEEDS TO BE FIRED. This location has horrible customer service and unfortunately doesn't give every customer the same quality experience. I've had a storage with them for over 5 years and mistakenly assumed I would have the same courtesy as the other tenants but that was not the case. They went into my storage multiple times without my consent and have broken highly valuable items that they refused to pay for. They damaged alot of sentimental items and removed items from my storage that I have never recovered, like my High School Lettermen Jacket and photos of my Deceased Grandparents. I entrusted this location with both my sentimental and valuable items, that have been damaged/Stolen & I will never be able to get back due to a lack of professionalism, honor, and respect of one's things. Avoid! I rented a storage unit online and the video for the indoor units was completely different then what was offered in real life. The video showed a building that had many indoor units that were clean and had metal doors. What was presented in real life was basically a super short hallway from outside. There was no building . The indoor units look very poorly made. The construction is awful. There was no metal door just random pieces of thin wood put together that looks easy to break into. Now I do have to say that George Jimenez who works there should get a raise!! He is kind and a very hard worker. It's not his fault the units are lousy, it's the owners fault. The owner needs to step up and put some care into his business. read more

We recently sold our old house in Norwalk and we need a place to store our belongings for staging our old house for the sale and for keeping our stuff there until we moved in to our new house. Extra Space Storage off of Firestone/Studebaker really helped us ease this process. Elena and George were so nice and quick to respond in our needs. Elena was very accommodating and was always available for all our questions. The customer service we received is remarkable. Please take heed when renting from this business. Their employees may be great initially. But it would be strange if they weren't nice to new customers, right? For all the public knows, they might get commissions or bonus' for renting a certain number of units. The trouble comes once they have your business locked in. If you anticipate you'll need the Extra Space staff for anything outside day one of renting, including basic questions & customer service, prepare yourself for a very bumpy road. After a long conversation this morning with a district supervisor, I do not believe Elena, the location manager at Norwalk, is an inherently bad person. When the sh*t-hits the fan, she does seem to step up. However, that in itself is an issue. Continually fixing problems you or your staff created isn't exactly admirable. I believe both employees at this location lack professionalism & basic customer service skills. Maybe they need to be trained how to properly speak to people to avoid situations escalating? That's at least a good place to start... Prior to yesterday, I had filed 2 previous complaints regarding situations involving or created by assistant manager Jorge. Today, not only did the supervisor confirm that my previous grievances had not been addresses AT ALL by management; she noted that the complaints in their system simply stated I was unhappy with the staff at Norwalk & wanted to talk to someone else. Please continue reading, but in short, customer service literally never reported a complaint I filed a couple months ago regarding attempted theft and credit card fraud by assistant manager Jorge. I want you to read that again and let it sink in. CUSTOMER SERVICE DID NOT ADDRESS, REPORT OR NOTE A CUSTOMER COMPLAINT OF THEFT AND FRAUD BY AN EMPLOYEE. A few months ago, I received a "courtesy" call from Jorge that my account was past due & needed to be paid immediately. He attempted to collect $500 via credit card over the phone. My monthly bill is $155, so even with a late fee or two, the math just didn't add up. He was extremely insistent I paid over the phone right then. I told him I would call back later that day to pay via the automated system...which he tried to talk me out of several times before I ended the call. When I called back that evening, guess how much I really owed? $316. Can someone please explain to me why Jorge was so adamant about taking my credit card info over the phone for $200 more than I actually owed??? Anyone..? Use your imagination because it's not that hard. I filed a formal complaint through customer service that same evening. I did not receive a single follow up in regards to one of their employees being reported for attempting to steal money from customer. I now know it's because customer service didn't even note the theft or bother to report the situation to higher management. If this situation was a misunderstanding, I could have accepted that. But we'll never know now. Why? Because customer service couldn't be bothered to report a very serious claim. Because management couldn't be troubled to address even a basic customer complaint, let alone a potentially illegal one. As far as I'm concerned, this is attempted theft and credit card fraud. This is now publicly Jorge's cross to bear since the company he works for does not care enough about their customer or employees to follow up at all, let alone when it really matters. I will not remove this review until I am given undoubted proof this matter was thoroughly investigated by management & I am offered a rational explanation. I urge you to take any 5 star review you read here with a grain of salt. If you are asked to leave a review by the Norwalk staff, give it 6 months or at least until the first time you need assistance. I do not think it's fair to portray either employee at this location as good at their jobs, knowledgeable or stellar in customer service. When you really need them, the only thing they'll do well is let you down. read more

The employees at this facility are what make this place so good. It is in a decent location; however, the main complaint I have is about the entrance/exit system. When I want to come in, I have to practically smash the buttons on the keypad. Then if someone is coming out while you are trying to go in, you have to let them through and back up onto the street... then re-enter your code in hopes that no one else will try to exit soon. I didn't realize a storage place would be so busy. At any rate, this place is safe and extremely convenient. Tip: insurance is a requirement! Also... I called for 3 day in a row and left countless amounts messages and no one ever calls back or even answers the phone? I work during their business hours so can only call in during the week which it says that they are open from 9 to 6?
