This is a well kept and well run facility. The front staff and the managers are incredible especially Jo Ann who is absolutely the best! I needed to find a reasonably priced storage unit quickly and I have had bad experiences with some of the public storage places so I was wary of going to a big name place. I found A-American self storage and they had some good reviews. I was looking for a small unite and I needed it rather quickly. I called and spoke to Joanne and she was knowledgeable of the space that each unit had and from my description of the stuff I needed to store she suggested a particular unit. I needed a truck and Joanne helped me get a truck and we arranged a move in date. On the day of the move in the truck was ready and available. My first time winning an auction storage unit and it was in this storage. Didn't know what to expect or do. Eric called me the day after auction ended. Went to the storage building and met Eric. Eric was really really really nice and very very very helpful on what to do. Guided me to all the paper works and what I needed to do. Then he walked me to the unit. Came back the following day and Eric was still very helpful. From start to finish Eric was outstanding, always a smile his face, always ready to help and answered every question I had. This is a great storage facility. Joann is so helpful and knowledgeable. Two years ago we needed a storage unit for all our home items. We were going to hit the road in our RV, so sold our house and moved the furniture we were keeping as well as other items important to us into a 10x10 unit here. Joann gave us great advise on how to keep our things in good shape while we were gone. Fast forward two years - we now have a condo and had our items moved out of the unit and into our new place. The movers told me as they moved out our things, this was one of the cleanest units they had seen. No bugs or rodents were evident. Although boxes were a little dusty (2 years of sitting in storage), it was no where near what I expected. Joann was very personable and laid back but when it came down to business (like the locking up properly, gate hours, etc) she really cared that I understood all the rules and did things the right way. The property is very clean. I can tell that Joann cares about her customers (unless they don't pay their bills or not follow the rules) and the safety of our property. This place has gates with key code access and large elevators. They have a special for $20 first month (2nd or 3rd floor) going on right now and sell their own disk locks for $12. This is a great storage facility. I was there for about a year and a half. The storage facility was very secure and in a nice area. A few things: -the gate is electronically locked (you can open it with the code assigned to you) -this is not a 24 hour facility (the gate will not open after closing time) -you have to buy your own lock -there are 2 moving carts available and they can only be accessed when the office is open JoAnne is the receptionist and is very friendly. I needed to find a storage unit last minute because the company I booked canceled on me the day before my move-in day. Because I was in LA, I had to rely on reviews and photos on Yelp. Luckily, I found this place and I cannot thank Joann enough for all her hard work. She understood my stressful situation and prepared everything for me promptly. Although I didn't check out the place before my move, I was satisfied with the storage. The place is well managed, clean, and has two big carts for you to use. You can also purchase any boxes, tapes, mattress covers, etc. A couple of weeks after, I got a call from Joann that she found my unit unlocked (I might have left it unlocked a few days before) and waited until I came to check inside to make sure nothing was stolen or damaged. My unit is on the top floor and in the middle of the building, so it could have been left unnoticed for a while, but I am glad she found it immediately and let me know. If you need a storage unit, this is the place!!! I called and looked at 20+ sites in Fullerton, Buena Park, and Anaheim area, and this place has the best price, quality, and customer service. In the middle of moving I called up and Leslie did everything she could to help me quickly get into unit without feeling pressured and made sure I was thoroughly informed about everything after showing me several different units. A-American you guys are lucky to have her with your business. Update- After being there for a few months already I was hesitant to run into Joanne. One of the tenants told me she was rude and wasn't very nice to the tenants. After paying my rent twice in the office and running into Joanne I find that she is actually quite nice. I just recently moved my things in to a storage unit here. My experience so far has been great. My fiance and I came in last week to check out the available units and Troy was very helpful and friendly. We had a choice between a first and third level unit with the first floor unit costing a bit more than the third floor unit. I half expected Troy to try and convince us to take the first floor unit, but that was not the case. We were not pushed to choose the more expensive unit and we felt comfortable officially deciding to rent our unit at A-American. We took advantage of the free 17ft moving truck and the driver, Martin, was also wonderful. He was very patient with us as we took a bit longer than usual loading our things into the truck. I think we caused him to be slightly behind schedule, but he was polite and helpful the entire time. He even helped us unload some of our furniture when we got to the storage (probably because he needed to hurry up and go to his next pick-up, but he was very pleasant regardless). There was a bit of miscommunication between us and the staff as we were required to chip in an additional $20 for the truck since we were beyond their pick-up vicinity. We were aware of the charge, but assumed it would be added to our overall bill. However, we were supposed to bring it in cash to give directly to the driver. Just a small hiccup, but not a big deal. Joann has a very strong personality and greets you like you've known each other for years. I could tell she treats all the renters in the same manor as I observed her interactions with other tenants. She's very down to earth and understanding. She laid everything out as far as the rules of the company. She made sure I understood the payment/nonpayment processes and what I was not allowed to store or do on the property. My fiance and I used the Yelp promo of the free mattes bag and 50% off the first month's rent. However, my fiance also saw something stated on the Yelp page about the first two months being 50% off, and although Joann couldn't find the details in the system about the promo, she honored it anyway, so instead of only getting the 50% off of the first month, she also gave it to us for the second month. That was just a cherry on top of a great overall experience. I'll admit I was a bit skeptical about coming here because of the few bad reviews I read, but after reading the staff's responses to said reviews, it seemed to me that their actions were justified given the full context. I decided it was worth at least visiting, especially because of all of the other 5 star reviews. Overall, my fiance and I are glad that we gave them a chance as we have saved a good chunk of money by not having to get a moving truck and also by getting 50% off of our first two months, and we feel comfortable having our belongings stored here. read more

I'm surprised there are three good reviews on this place. I kept my things here for a year and a half and rented their two largest units, so as you can see, I've given this place a lot of my hard-earned money over time. Most of the staff has been friendly and helpful, EXCEPT for Lois. She's the older, large lady in the office. This woman is unbearably rude and unfriendly, always making it a point to make her obsession over her furniture dollies apparent (yes, I said obsession. She's even named them). I tried many times to chat her up in small talk, trying to get her to smile (shouldn't it be the other way around?!) or be friendly to no avail. Now today, I'm moving out and apparently she took that as the green light to treat my hired movers whom I've paid $10,000 and my business-professional husband with utter disrespect. We are not scumbags with bad attitudes, yet she treats us as if we are. All 6 of us are disgusted and shaking our heads in embarrassment for the company. And to make matters worse, I had to pay for the entire month (she refused to prorate our rent) despite moving out today on the 5th. I have ALWAYS been kind and courteous, followed ALL of her *sometimes ridiculous and obsessive-compulsive* rules, and this is how she treats us? Wow. If you're looking for a place that treats their customers like they're valued, don't waste your time here. They obviously don't care that our business is paying their bills and her drill sergeant tactics take the ease and convenience out of having a storage unit. Never again! read more

I've had to shop around for a few storage places due to the fact that I had to move out, and this was the only place that allowed me to reserve a unit prior to moving in, without any obligations. Also love the fact that the staff has been very thorough and helpful with the whole process and they even honored the price deal I was given before moving in, even when the deal had ended. I have moved away from and back to the Buena Park area several times over the past ten years. Twice I have rented storage units out here for about 2 or 3 years each time and I couldn't be happier. The units are kept clean and I've never seen so much as an ant wandering around. Joanne is great and obviously expects customers to obey the rules which are made very clear when you sign all the paperwork. I wouldn't want my stuff in a place that didn't have strict rules. I've never been worried about my unit being tampered with. Joanne even called me once because someone left their stuff outside my unit and she wanted to make sure something hadn't happened. Most places would've just thrown the stuff away or charged me some fee for leaving crap in the walkway. My movers have always been made aware of the rules and were treated respectfully .
