Despite having a 10 digit login, I had it completely memorized by the end because you have to login to get in the facility, to get in the building, and again to get into your area. Great facility! Very nice and clean! No fifth star because they offer online payment but has not worked the last couple of months for me. You can stop by and make the payment in person or on the phone. I prefer to do it online. The issue is I travel a lot and they don't let you pay ahead of your due date, then when I can't make the payment online because I'm out of state I get a late fee charged because I wait until I return to make the payment at the facility. They need to fix the feature to add a payment card online so I may make my payments online. Other then that its a great please to your stuff! Reason for my review is I'm currently out of state and I tried again to make my payment online and was unsuccessful. I hope I don't get another late fee charged :/ read more

We highly recommend this storage facility! VERY clean, always someone around checking out the facility along with the monitored security cameras that are everywhere. The friendly maintenance staff keeps the exterior areas and landscaping well-maintained and are always eager to answer questions. The negative reviews are old and were about the management that no longer runs the place. The management that we started with and the current management were both very knowledgable, helpful and professional! We have finally moved out after our ONE year rental stretched out to SIX years! So we have been around this storage facility regularly for a long time. We had looked at facilities all along the 405 and did not find any that came close to what we were lucky to have at Bolsa Chica Storage. Our auto-pay ran smoothly and April the manager removed it as soon as we gave notice that we would be out before the next billing. This is my first storage facility, so I really didn't know what to look for. I was comparing unit sizes with costs per month and that was about it. I'm so glad I ended up checking out this facility, as there's a lot of extra benefits here aside from size and price. The staff - from my very first visit, extremely friendly and helpful. I don't know how they don't end up eating all the candy at the front desk (I would!) Bonus is there's staff there 24/7. This however is NOT a 24/7 facility. (See: Security) The location: Right off the 405 and just a few miles from 605 worked out great for me. The facility: There's well kept restrooms on each floor. Sounds like it wouldn't be a big deal, but sometimes you end up spending more time than expected at your unit, so it's a very nice convenience. There's plenty of hand carts at each building entrance. Always music playing in the buildings, some pretty good classic rock. Large elevator is a bonus. The halls are all clean and well lit. Security: Someone is always on location. However they do have hours of 7am-7pm? Verify the exact hours... You'll set up your own pin which you'll need to get in the gate, get into your building, and even to take the elevator to your designated floor. You'll also need the code for the exit gate. This is so they can keep track of who's come and gone and at what times. Lots of cameras too. I was fighting to get my roll up door open for a while (my pile of crud tipped and wedged inside). The office must have saw me on the cameras and gave me a courtesy call to see if I needed a hand. Very kind of them. As far as billing; easy. I gave them my credit card when I started and it's auto-billed. Totally out of sight, out of mind. It won't be the cheapest option there, but for the reasons listed above it definitely beats your uncle Gary's wooden shack in the middle of the desert. Over the couple years she was there, I doubt she put in 25 hrs a week, while falsifying her timecard to say 40, & many times leaving only one person there for hours at a time...must be nice to get paid to spend the day at Disneyland, right?? She flat out stole cash from these people (while making it look like customers weren't paying), & somehow figured out how to make everyone think she was SO great!! I guess that's what happens when the owner doesn't take the time to actually vet applicants. The previous manager, Bertha, was great. Randy, Juan, Luis, Carol & Annie were all great. I'm new to the area and needed to find a place to keep my surplus shizzle and Bolsa Chica Self Storage is that place. When I read the yelp reviews, I assumed they were fake or friends of management or something, but no, I've seen it with my own eyes. This place is the real deal. I thought I was walking into a CIA building when I entered the lobby because of all the camera's on the back wall but like I said, it's the real deal. Great security and restricted code access so malicious idiots can't wander around storage facility as they may feel free to do. You can only access your building and your floor so hopefully there's not some flame throwing pyscho on your floor. The climate controlled environment was perfect with a crisp chill, almost made me want to rent another small storage unit to keep a chair in so I can come hang out during the summer when it's hot for only $50/month on the third floors (the price is higher for 2nd floor and ground floor units. No worries though on the 3rd floor, there are carts and elevators that are in good working order. The facility is not surrounded by much while initially a potential issue in my head, it occurred to me that it's reassuring because there aren't any apartment complexes near by for wayward youths to come break locks and steal my stuff after hours. There is also bathrooms that are nice and clean on each floor which is great. How many times have you been at a storage unit and had to button everything up so you can get to a gas station? Pretty nice amenity here. Only drawback, which is a small one, is that the facility is only available 7-7 daily. Most storage units I've had in the past were 6am-9pm so I was a little put off but then came to my senses that I'll just have to use some forethought if I need to get my fishing poles or scuba gear out of my unit. The staff was cool and I appreciated their assistance and attention. I feel like I got a good deal in a trust worthy establishment. They also have decent move in specials. And I guess it speaks volumes that I took the time to write this review. I feel they did me right, so now that I'm locked into my unit, I'll tell the rest of you!!! I would never go back to this place and anyone who does should use extreme caution. I used Bolsa Chica Self storage for 7 years so I have some experience with them. The first three to four years were fine until their billing practices started getting very weird. The rent was a small $70 bill I had on auto-pay so when I started to get nicked for late fees I thought it was my bank at first and for at least a year I let it go. Then I started getting late fees and pre lien fees and registered letters in the mail each month for this $70 bill that I was sure was current. I finally got fed up with being late charged every month especially with such a small bill that was paid like clock work on auto pay with my bank for four years until this started. My bill showed late charges and pre lien fees tacked onto it every single month. I finally went in and had them pull my ledger so I could go over it with them, when I did they waved all these fees and brought us current. They said it was an "accommodation for a good customer" but the fact was when we went over the ledger they couldn't support any of the late fees by their posting date of the rent checks in their own books. I thought it was done, corrected, and overwith when unbeknownst to me the very next month it started all over again. Since I thought it over and the bill is on auto-pay I didn't look at for awhile so I didn't pick up that again they started with the "late fees". When I started getting the registered letters again I knew what was happening. Every month you pay them regardless of when your payment posts they flag it as late after the first month they show this bogus "late fee". The very month after I came in and they waved the previous fees, my $70 payment, which was posted on time in their own ledger that month too, was late again and hit with a fee. Every month after that my account was flagged late because they apply your payment short to pay the erroneous late fee and pre lien fees they tacked on in error in the prior month. Every month gets progressively worse as they start to compound these fees. When I complained and came in again to show them their error again, they said the owner won't waive the fees this time even though they still couldn't support the now mounting fees with any payments that were actually late. I paid them the over $200 they said I owed them in late fees to release my stuff and not sell it off as they threaten to do. They refused to admit their accounting errors and asked me to move my stuff out which I of course did gladly to be through with these idiots. I wouldn't trust these guys. They are either totally incompetent or just crooks nickle and diming their customers with shaky billing practices, hoping no one will notice on such a small monthly bill. If you use them you need to not make the mistake of auto paying them and look at your bill each month for the "late fee" that is sure to show up, question it, as they are not honest so you will have to keep very vigilant to keep them such. read more

I rented a unit a couple of weeks ago and was impressed with the friendly, neighborly service I received. As a new customer they made me feel welcome and, even though I showed up at the end of their work day, they did not rush me or make me feel like I was an inconvenience. I drive by Bolsa Chica storage almost every day since it was built, but didn't rent space with them for a year or so due to sharing another place with a friend. My wife Agnes actually rents it to store boxes of paper she has to save before shredding. I am in and out of there more than most people. It is always clean and fresh smelling. I spoke with the receptionist about available bottom floor units & put one on hold. When I drove all the way to the facility to take a look at the unit, there was no record of my order or conversation. When I told the receptionist who I spoke to, it was her! She confessed she rented that unit out. I couldn't believe it! I tried to be polite despite her obvious incompetence then Randy, who was great, took me for a tour of the facility & showed me available units. I decided to put one on hold then called back a couple of days later to ask if I needed to fill out any paperwork & lo & behold, the same receptionist reserved the wrong unit for me & rented the one I wanted. I began to doubt myself because I found it difficult to believe someone could be such a screwup but then I checked my notes & she for sure reserved the wrong unit for me. I decided to go to AAA Storage in HB where I found a bottom floor unit, close to an entrance with 10 more sq ft & is $34 less per month. Unbelievable!! I have been a customer at Bolsa Chica for a couple of years now, visiting the location 3x a week. I have had some sort of storage for the last 8 years for my work supplies. I used to be at Public Storage, but when I moved to the area, I needed to find a new storage closer to my home. I assumed all storage was the same, and I was wrong. In my couple of years at Bolsa Chica, I got to see how they work hard to differentiate themselves. A couple of examples: My work is very picky about where I store the items, and Bertha (manager at Bolsa Chica) couldn't have been any more accommodating. Bertha answered all of my questions and helped to make sure the unit would fit the requirements of my company. She even was able to send me my bill monthly for my expense report. She went out of her way to make things easy. Generally the helpfulness of staff ends when you sign the deal. This too is what sets Bolsa Chica apart. Those that work at Bolsa Chica were visable, helpful and always kind. The facility was always clean, well lit, and even played music softly. I always feel very safe and comfortable at the facility. There are a couple of carts that people can use to help move things. I never saw any creepy people at the facility, and I was there several times a week. In all, my experience at Bolsa Chica has been superior to my other storage places (and no additional money). I would highly recommend checking them out if you need to store your stuff! read more
