4285 Payne Ave San Jose, CA 95117 I was here on a warm Thursday afternoon, at around 3:30-4:00pm. This was my first time visiting this post office. My job had me in the West San Jose area, and I wanted to drop off an Ebay order I had to ship. I pre-labeled the package, and ideally I wanted to hand it to a clerk. So I go inside the lobby, and there's no clerks at the counter. Customers are just standing around waiting. Oh well, I decided to just drop it in the lobby dropoff. It's a somewhat medium sized post office. It has mail boxes, self serve kiosk, and limited parking in the lot. There's a huge yellow zone at the curb on the street. My truck has commercial plates, so I parked there. Yes! Active unloading! I would come again if needed. See my photo for hours. read more

Worst post office in Campbell. Branch Supervisor and tellers were incompetent and unaware on how to perform common post office services. Told to come back tomorrow for the same issue because they "didn't know how to do it" and to "come back and try again tomorrow". Unprofessional and uninformed staff. Unable to perform advertised services during normal operating business hours. Don't waste your time at this location that will dissatisfy. read more

Came here to drop off some return packages, they have a sign at the drop-off counter "No UPS or Fedex" and even then i didn't check my printed mailing slips. Turned out my packages were UPS!! And the USPS was closed by the time i returned but i could still go inside and see some people. They motioned they were closed but i tried to explain my situation about dropping the wrong packages and it took awhile but someone finally came over and said they would not be able to find it and that they sift thru and either UPS or Fedex will eventually come to pick up the packages and it will be shipped. I'm hoping she's right and hopefully this helps someone else. read more

This is for the usps in general. told me a package worth $1500 would be delivered on a [insert day] that day rolls around, tracking info says it will be delivered today, and it fucking wasn't. package was still in LA. If you don't know when it's going to arrive then don't give me an expected delivery date, because I make plans around that. If you have a choice don't use them for anything of value. read more

Very rude customer service. The service person was irritable from the start and then annoyed that I wanted to choose some pretty stamps. Then he overcharged me. The manager sent a useless, boiler plate response. They certainly aren't helping themselves in keeping USPS off the chopping block. read more

I had to mail the package and was looking for a post office when I was running errands which brought me to this location. It is on the smaller side and they have limited parking in front and some parking on the side as well. I was able to find parking right front and it looked like they were not busy. But in comedic fashion, as I was getting my stuff together, there was a sudden rush of people who went in. Not all post offices are created the same...some have friendly staff and good services and some don't. Luckily this is one of the efficient ones and the line moved pretty quickly. Quick and well organized post office. Michelle was especially chipper and helpful. Really brightened everyone's day.

I had to come in to ship something internationally and prepaid online, so the process was very smooth. Even during the holiday season, the staff here had every window and lane open to make sure everyone met their deadline. I had arrived THE DAY BEFORE CHRISTMAS EVE and cutting it close to 2pm. Thankfully, this was the only post office that was open so late since it was time sensitive. I didn't know how to properly adhere the customs forms, and I was helped sufficiently to make sure that everything was good to go. The staff here were very nice and helpful despite the rush, and it was a great location I didn't know existed! read more

I ship stuff for ebay all the time and this is by far the worst USPS in terms of speed of shipping. Ive had several times where Ive dropped off stuff on Thursday morning and it doesn't leave the facility till Monday. Im sad this is the closest USPS to my home. I prefer this post office because I love the staff here! However, I went to drop off mail yesterday via the drive-up mailboxes and it seems new mailboxes have been installed BACKWARDS, forcing drivers to "park" their cars to walk around the mailbox in order to deposit their mail, causing traffic in the drive-up lane and in the street. Was the "backward" installation of the new mailboxes intentional or accidental?? It's not so much the inconvenience, but the traffic this is creating in an already small parking/drive-up space. read more

**Please Beware: Multiple packages stolen from this location** I have had multiple packages that were never scanned in and never show up at the destination when I dropped them off at the package handoff counter. There has been no resolution in these instances and I have not been able to successfully file claims despite the package being insured since they don't have any information on their system regarding the package's whereabouts. When talking to an employee about my concerns, they were brushed off and not taken seriously. When I asked for a supervisor to speak to, the employee said no, inferred that I was lying and that I should "think about what I'm saying". If you plan to use this location to drop off a pre-paid package, make sure you hand it to someone directly. I will not use this location again and am frustrated it's taken 3 events like this for me to make that decision. read more

Is every person here just completely miserable??? I tried to go in again even though I've been treated very poorly in the past with my service animal. I was told only seeing eye dogs are allowed. This is false my dog is a federally recognized service animal and I am not blind... Anyway...Didnt want to have to go out of my way to mail something. The person who helped me..his name started with a D. SO RUDE and it's completely obvious you hate your job. Look, I get it every one is short staffed but keep your crappy attitudes to yourself and if you all hate it so much it just oozes out the door.. just leave! I asked for a postmaster was told they didn't have one... Um ok there is supposed to be one at all times in site. I asked for a supervisor... Waited almost 10 minutes they never came so I left. Oh yes my local post office. This place pretty much grew up with me because it has been around since 1968. That was when my mother was 10 years old and it's uncanny how this post office has served my neighborhood for ages. I even took a field trip here back when I was a kid. There is also a post office in Campbell but nothing compared to this location. During the lunch hour this post office can get really packed. If you are wishing to park and take care of business in the service window area then it can be tough. The parking lot is a bit cramped on both sides. Best idea is to come around 2pm-close when it's less crowded. The employees here are very nice. I know these two people who are very sweet and have been serving this branch for ages. Always willing to help and are very patient. I have known this one guy that worked here for many years and he's always willing to help someone in the neighborhood with their mail needs. read more

I wanted to give a zero star to this post office. Im moving to China for work so I went in and asked for change of address. And then this lady in a red jacket bursted into langhters with a voice that everyone could hear - "China??". I had no idea why she tried to embarrass me just because I look Chinese? Very rude and impolite, potentially racist. Alright so she did point me to a clerk called Balwinder. From the previous reviews this guy seemed rude too but I decided to give a try. He gave me a form to fill in and informed me that they probably did not provide international mail forwarding due to fair difference. Till this point he seemed to be reasonable. However when I claimed that I was informed by the website to apply for international forwarding and I was willing to pay whatever different incurred in the process. Balwinder stared at me and yelled: "It does not work like that. Next customer!", leaving me helpless in front of him. I was shocked by how rude and impatient he was. All crews at this office behaved like they wanted to embarass customers. I saw another lady got yelled at too. I know the USPS is a government agency so they can behave whatever they want. But I sincerely think they can respect customers a bit just like how you treat normal people on the street. Luckily the supervisor at this office was super nice and patient to answer my questions and gave me instructions on what I could do. This one star goes to him. Moving abroad is stressful and I really hope Balwinder and the lady in red jacket could be a bit more helpful. But thank you, I will never come again and I post my experience here to inform other people not coming to ruin their day here too. read more

I've generally had good experiences here. The employees are knowledgable about which service to offer and help customers to pick the cheaper option. My transactions have generally been fast through the past few years, especially recently I think their service has improved even further. Lines can build up during the weekends, so mornings and off-hours are your best bet. read more

I come here every so often to send packages I sale on Amazon. Not sure about all these bad reviews because I always come in and the people are so nice to me. Especially the woman whose name starts with a N. (I can't remember) She always tells me ways to save on packaging and is so sweet and nice. Always smiling, and even everyone else is professional and has great customer service at least when I am there. I gave this place 4 stars because the parking lot is small and during the holidays this place is going to get over crowded. If you are just moving here and in a Apt You have to wait 1-2 weeks for the post office to change your locks on you mail box. This location doesn't do passports! read more

Most often than not my big problem when I go to a post office is that they never have enough staff to handle the long lines.. but hey this particular post office have actually all windows staffed and ready to serve. Very friendly and accomodating. Came here to send back a Time Warner remote control which I brought with my by mistake when I moved here in San Jose. Very disappointed customer service. I came in at first to send a package and the gentleman who helped me was super nice and helpful. However, couple hours later I called in to check if I left my debit card there, the lady who answered the phone was very rude. I asked her kindly if there was any c/c left on the counter, she put me on hold and when she got back to me, she kept interrupting me by saying that "We never touch customers card, they insert the card themselves." Excuse me, I didn't accuse you anything, I just called to double-check. Is that how you talk to customers? The time I called in was around 12:45 - 1pm, March 22. This is the worst post office I have ever dealt with. They routinely screw up the deferred delivery notices (both the ones done electronically and the ones done on the paper forms). The mail typically is not delivered to our house until after 5PM. We put big signs on the mailbox to "Put parcels in the big plastic box on the porch" This box, not more than 4 feet away from the mailbox, on the front porch facing the street, has three inch high white letters that say "DELIVERIES". So where did the carrier deliver the four packages last night? They threw them on the ground on the side of the house where they got soaked in the rainstorm. I would NOT recommend using the USPS for any deliveries. UPS or Fed Ex are much better about delivering to the front door, front porch, or deliveries box. USPS couldn't care less where they deliver to. Raining? So what? I got it somewhere on your property and if it gets soaked in the rain, I really don't care because after all, I work for the government! read more

The employee by the name of BoB needs to be fired. While waiting in line he was being so rude towards this elderly lady who was asking him not to degraded her knowledge and he kept laughing at her. She called for a manager and there was none on duty. I felt really bad When it was my turn I was lucky enough to have BoB "help me" Anyways I asked one question where he was so rude towards me. Before I paid I was taking a picture of my package as I do because I sell on eBay and need proof that I packaged the item secure. He grabbed my box put it in the back said no pictures.
