This was my go-to post office whenever I needed to mail something. The service that I received was always excellent here. That all changed on 7-20-25. A fire on that date has closed this post office indefinitely. This Yelp page should be updated with that information but so far, based on how this page looks as I type this review, it looks like it's business as ususal at this post office. That is most definitely not the case however. Based on news reports about the fire, USPS has not said when this post office will reopen so consider this location as "indefinitely closed" and search for another post office if you need to mail something. read more

You know these guys at the Post Office always get the short end of the stick even though they make sure 100% you get your mail throughout the season. Today I needed to send a register mail out and usually I am not the one that does that so I was a bit lost as to what I need to do, walked in this place and was greeted  by a happy postal employee behind the counter, I did not catch her name but she was so kind that I thought I need to write this review. Any post office that keeps the lobby open after hours with a drop box get five stars in my book. I sell things on Mercari, OfferUp, Poshmark, and similar apps, so I print at home and just need to drop my packages off. I was in the area and needed to drop off a package. I arrived at 5:05 pm on a Saturday, and a kind gentleman was picking up the mail/letters at the drive up boxes. As he was coming in with his cart, I asked him if I could just give him my box. He replied, "Of course you can!" He had a great disposition which can be rare in public service jobs. I also liked that he waited until AFTER 5:00 to pick up items. I've been to so many post offices where they are picking up items 5-10 minutes prior to the listed/posted pick up time. Anyway, my experience here was brief, but pleasant. read more

This is our local post office that I visit frequently for various mailing needs. The staff there are all friendly and very helpful. Last week I went there to get a money order and mail some documents with return envelope. The nice lady at the counter helped me with all the steps patiently. I love this USPS. I come here regularly for drop-offs and all of the staff are super knowledgeable and friendly. I've had some issues with tracking packages and every time, staff have taken time to look into the system and provide me with as much information and action items possible. That is not to say that USPS as a postal system is not without flaws. In general, there are a lot of different methods of pricing that can be really confusing, and it is only after working at a PO myself for multiple years that I better understand the inner workings. That being said, USPS usually works better for smaller packages and letters, and their online resources are really helpful for understanding the best way to ship, so use this resource to check out your options before you go into the store! read more

I must always come on a peak hour, whether it's in the morning or afternoon, because I am always stuck waiting in line forever. By forever, I mean over 10-15 minutes just to buy stamps or mail out a package. I know that the employees are not entirely responsible for the long wait since sometimes customers have a lot of questions or may just take some time, but the employees just don't ever seem to be in a hurry to move the line along. Additionally, this location looks a little old and has a very small greeting card selection (which is understandable since most people don't send snail mail anymore). read more

Wow....apparently, someone at this post office read my original review and thought it would be funny to "lose" the package for which I paid extra $$$ to send via 2-day delivery. Mailed it Sat 5/16 for delivery on Tues /19. Tracking shows the package sat at this location until 5/20! For the record, I paid for expedited delivery because the item was perishable. At this rate, it'll spoil before it reaches the recipient. Terrible service at this location. Save yourself the $ and aggravation and use UPS. read more

This is my go-to post office, and I have had nothing but positive experiences here. The staff is friendly and helpful. They definitely know their stuff when it comes to mailing your package. I've even had to enlist their help to track down packages and they went above and beyond what I would expect from the USPS. Excellent customer service and follow-through when you need them! It is busy on a pretty regular basis, especially on Mondays and any given morning or afternoon but not with any sort of consistency or predictability. The wait isn't too bad if there is a line, but the majority of the clientele tends to be of the retired variety and they always seem to have lots of questions. That doesn't slow things down by much, though. They have a machine in the lobby that is great if you have an uncomplicated postage need. May be the best bet if your shipment is straightforward or if you need a sheet of stamps. read more

This post office is terrible. I recently came in to have a money order done and the lady at the front made it SO DIFFICULT FOR ME. I stood in line for a long time for my turn to come and when I get to the front and ask to have a money order done, the lady (an Indian lady - sorry, I don't remember her name) gave me CONSTANT attitude for it. She kept saying "this is going to take sooooooooo long" over and over again and scoffing at me for even asking for this request. Ultimately, I told her that I no longer wanted the money order and left to go to bank to do it. Ridiculous. This is your JOB, lady. This post office is outright terrible. It was a regular day on a Tuesday around 11am. The parking lot, people are jerks to the extreme, They cut people off, don't want to let people in, and park right in the driveway. When I went in, people were a huge cluster F. Standing all around, no form of a line, cutting in front of others. There was about 4 or 5 people in front of me. One of the tellers rudely yelled "Im closed" with an attitude when a lady tried to go to his area. It was about 15 or more minutes waiting in line. When I was at the front, some guy walks up to walk past me, I gave him a dirty look. He says, "Oh, your in line". I said , "Yea and so is he" Pointing to the guy literally right beside me in line. Dumb people....here's your sign. Anyways, I get up to the lady and hand her two pieces of mail and say I need regular postage for the first and I need first class with the tracking code on second, and a book of stamps. She was arguing with me saying that first class has no tracking. I told her that I go to Gilroy and San Martin and first class has tracking all the time. I also use selling apps for first class and it has tracking. That even media mail has a tracking barcode. She wanted to try to charge me all this extra cost for certified mail. I said no. They need to properly train these people. When she rang me up, I noticed I was not charged for a stamp for the first envelope. She looked at me puzzled. I said I needed postage on the first letter. She gets It out of the box she put in it and says, "Oh I thought it had postage.' I said, "No, the first thing I said was I needed regular postage for that. I don't want it sent back to me for not having postage." OMG dumb broad. read more

I was contacted by the U.S Post Office regarding this issue. They stated they cannot confirm or deny the unlawful act by one of their employees since they have been unable to contact him and confirm whether he is still a Postal employee. They further stated, this employee no longer works at this location and "may" not be employed any longer by the U.S Postal Service. I don't know whether this should be a one-star or a five-star review. So, let's go with 5. This is my local post office. For the most part; its a good one. The staff is friendly and has been here forever. Occasionally there are long lines here and then it is the same as any other post office on the planet - slow. I'll never understand postal pricing. Yesterday I went to mail something in a priority box. My wrapped boxes did not fit into the priority box (are these all just getting smaller?), so I had to take the stuff out. I crammed it into the priority box thinking the stuff was too light (it was clothing afterall) to go in the Flat Rate Box that cost $8.95 to mail no matter what's in it. It shouldn't cost $8.95 to mail a sweatshirt.) Anyway, I get to the counter, she puts it on the scale and then we have this conversation: Postal clerk - oh, too bad you did not use other box. It will cost $12.20 to mail in this box. Flat rate box $8.95. Me - uh, ok, well, why don't we put this box into the other box then. Postal clerk - (as she tries to fit one in the other) no, won't fit, you have to repack it. Me - here, gimme those boxes (takes boxes and walks to prep counter and stuffs Priority Box into Flat Rate Box and seals it up. Walks back up to counter and hands it to clerk) Here, it's ready now. Postal Clerk - (puts box on scale - it weighs more now you know - two boxes in one) and says, Ok, that will be $8.95. Wow - I guess I just don't get it. If she crossed out the word "Priority" and wrote "Flat Rate" instead would that not have accomplished the same thing?? Gosh, I hate wastefulness and silly regulations that make people act and look like idiots! This bugged me throughout my day. I kept thinking of fun things I could mail in that flat rate box and all for $8.95. I wondered what would happen if I used the box for a cement mold and then sealed it all up once it was dry. It would probably weigh a lot! Oh yeah, box of hardened cement, 20 lbs. that will be $8.95! I wanted to send one around the world. LOL! I just didn't know who I would send it to. So, 5-stars it is. It's not often you save money at the Post Office especially around the holidays! read more

Let's face it, going to the post office is often a royal pain in the you-know-what. But if I have to go to one (and I ship between 5-30 packages a week, so I do have to go) I wouldn't go anywhere but to my local one in Almaden Valley. The staff here is the sweetest! I am pretty sure I am the #1 PITA Customer for this location; I receive tons of packages but have a small PO Box, so they constantly have to keep bins of mail for me in the back. Yet they never complain or act annoyed, which I bet I would if the situation was reversed! They just keep on giving top notch customer service! If I ever have a question about postage or the cheapest way to mail a package, they're always happy to help, too. Two strikes against this location: it's a fairly busy location and there usually aren't more than one or two people working the registers, so there's almost always a line unless you go in really early in the morning. During the busy times, parking can be a pain! Unlike other post offices in the area, there isn't a separate lane divided away from the parking lot for people dropping off mail, so it can get clogged up by the exit. read more

Package is listed as in transit currently however for about one week it indicated ready for delivery and at local facility. I've had only an AMAIZING experiences with this post office- personal attention, great execution, professional approach and a genuine intention to help/ resolve/accommodate. On the tax day-4/15- I was ready to spend 2 hours to send my package - it took only 15-29 min with their smooth and organized processing -thanks to Carlene -who is supervising this facility with integrity and good will, and always with the smile. Going to the Post Office is like going to the DMV but this one is just super. Small, friendly and efficient with great, nice, helpful employees. There is a line 90% of the time but the people seem to try and speed up to help make things go faster and the parking is pretty good as well. All in all I give this place an A. Could be a bit bigger but I would have to pay more tax for that and I don't want to. read more

I went to his post office and all I wanted to use was the self service machine to weigh a package and get a stamp. But it was broken. So I had to stand in line for the staff to open. Then have the package weighed by brain dead workers from the government. These workers talk with a monotone voice and sound like a broken record trying to sell you extra services that you did not ask for. I got the stamp but I will not return to this post office. The car park is cramped, the place is really dingy and the staff is rude. 1 star read more

To use the Post Office or not.....Hmmmmm Look, I am not a huge fan of the USPS. They are famous for slow, bad service and frequently losing or delaying my packages that I have sent in the past. I almost fainted when I saw that I missed a package from them and would have to go there to pick it up. Not my idea of how I want to spend my Saturday...lol I initially reported that there was only one clerk at this location but there turned out there was a second who was running something to the back warehouse. There was 2 people ahead of me when I got inside and 3 behind me as I was getting help with more coming in. Nobody can claim that the USPS doesn't hire minorities or old people either. The clerk I had was an ELDERLY, Asian female but at least she spoke English. The second clerk was clearly a Vietnamese guy. How do I know? He was damn near speaking Vietnamese as he was helping that lady...lol He could not understand what his customer was trying to say either and she was getting mad. I almost wanted to stick around just to see her smack the shit out of him but my service was prompt so I just left. I give this place 4 stars but I would be willing to bet the lady will rank them much lower :0 read more

The great Almaden Post Office, a location that I used to frequent many times during each week. Stand assured that they are still operating with friendly and helpful employees will make you feel comfortable and informed. The office has plenty of P.O. boxes available for those in need of them, and they even have an automated shipping machine that you can use to ship various domestic items. This can help a lot if there is a long line and you don't mind paying by card. I've been to a lot of Post Offices around the south bay, and this is by far the nicest one in terms of customer service and efficiency. The lines are generally shorter here, except during holiday season of course. I have probably been here over 100 times in the past and will always enjoy doing business here. Year after year it earned five stars, that's got to count for something. read more

Almaden Crown location sucks. The desk people are pretty good though. The office rarely answers the phone. Plus contantly I have to complain because many times the post office does not take the outgoing packages and envelopes we put in our mailbox. At our house residence. BEWARE manager doesn't properly wear face masks (it was left hanging below his chin although I grimaced at him several times behind my mask while waiting in line) to protect public and employees at this location. He was witnessed yesterday receiving packages and handing out receipts and touched his nose and face between transactions repeatedly without having sanitized in the 10 minutes I was standing in line. He was confirmed to be manager by the associate handling my transaction. I reported this to her and asked if he happened to be the manager in which she replied yes. read more

Whenever I call the Almaden post office they hardly answer. Several time someone picks up the phone and hangs it up. If you can finally get someone to answer they put you on hold and never come back. I waited 1 hour to talk to the supervisor but she never came. I gave up after the post office closed figuring she's never going to answer. Horrible service. Try calling yourself at (408) 268-2175 and see what kind of service you get. I've asked to speak to the manager Virginia on four different occasions at different times of the day but am always told she isn't around. Good luck to whomever calls. read more

Went @ 7:10am to pick up my "vacation" hold mail. Sign says "ring bell". Nothing, bell does not work. Knocked on the door several times, no answer. Called the 408-268-2175 number, no answer. Finally yelled through the opening of the mail drop box and an employee finally opened the door. I said the bell doesn't work, she apologized ( but this was not new news to the employee. Tried to call all day to report this to a supervisor, no one picks up the phone, it's now 2pm. This is not my first experience with that bell not working. It's a bell!! Make one wonder is this so those woking early sorting mail are not bothered? It's a bell and they know it is not working!!!! read more

Friendly and helpful staff, but if you don't time your visit right, you may find yourself stuck in a long line. The APC (Automated Postal Center) helps a lot though. :) Or paying/printing postage online and just handing it off! read more

Tucked away on Crown Blvd off of Almaden. Almost have to live in the area to know it's there. Been there a few times and the lines seem to go pretty fast. Never really seen it crowded though. read more

Love the convenience of having this place so close to home and the fact that it is open as late as the mall. I've been selling items on poshmark and have been going here pretty frequently. My first time I was unsure of what to do but the lady at the front desk was very patient with me. Now I know how to ship and package items which brought a smile to her face. Fantastic to have the Almaden Valley Post Office phone answered within about 10 seconds! Also fantastic to have a request for a Vacation Hold that was made in writing at this Post Office changed when I called from out-of-state. Even the USPS Web site said that it could not be done, but our extremely helpful Almaden Valley Post Office worker did it within about a minute! This is the most unhelpful post office I have ever interacted wtih. They have not delivered mail to my house for 3 days and they don't seem to have a problem with that. I guess what can you expect from the post office. They say they are waiting on maintenance to "fix" the box. In the meanwhile, they send the mail out on the truck so you can't come to the post office to pick up the mail. Once again, they didn't seem to think there was a problem with that approach. This is the second time this branch has ignored a vacation hold request delivery date and decided to NOT deliver our mail on the requested return date! Why do we even have an option to pick a date if they aren't going to make the delivery??? I'm sure they won't pay the late fees on the bills because they chose to not deliver the mail.
