I've been using this post office for 3 years. Mostly for simply having a package with a prepaid ebay label on it scanned, so that I have a receipt that it is now in the possession of the USPS and my buyers know it is now en route, out of my hands. Occasionally I might ship something else, or need stamps, but I do those things when I bring in a package to be scanned. So for 99% of the business I have done at this post office for 3 years is so simple as to take only a minute or two. Today was the final straw, and I will never use this post office again, for anything, not even to drop a stamped letter in the slot. This is a small post office, not large, as some have claimed. The retail portion is rather small. There are four clerk stations. Most of the time there are two staff - one in the back, busy with things that don't involve dealing with a patron, leaving one staff person manning the counter. There are four stations. Why not close up the other two that are NEVER used? I was in there on an ordinary Thursday in mid-January. This is not "busy Christmas season" when one could expect a long queue . I should have been in and out of there in 1-10 minutes. I walked in and the older man with the white hair and the dismissive attitude was working on something other than helping patrons, for nearly an hour. There was a younger, dark-haired man (30s?) who was disappearing in the back, as he was seeming to help a patron with some complicated business. The third staffer, an elderly woman with long hair and a pleasant manner, was embroiled for over an hour in what appeared to be a very complex bit of business with a man who was shipping two large packages. I stood in the queue of about 18 people, for nearly 40 minutes, while this woman did not for one moment ask anyone waiting if they had a package to drop off, or were simply buying stamps, whereby she might have helped them first, rather than spend an hour or longer with ONE patron who needed to be hand-held through all manner of paperwork for his complicated shipping issue. No apologies from any of the three staffers. The message was clear: we simply do not care about any of you. They couldn't have cared less about the wait time. Isn't this job SERVICE to the patron? That involves clear communication about how long they can be expected to wait, apologies for delays, and asking who has the fastest business to attend to. People who need an HOUR should not hold the line up for nearly 20 people, when it isn't holiday crush time. WHY DON'T THEY SIMPLY HAVE A SELF-SERVICE KIOSK in this post office? There is one in Lafayette, and the Lafayette one is much smaller than the Moraga! Just put in a self-service kiosk and half of your patrons do not have to stand a half hour or an hour to buy a few stamps or to get a receipt for a prepaid label! My business here took LESS THAN A MINUTE, yet with no apologies I was left to stand, with a bad back and aching hips, for over half an hour. Another thing is they routinely do not scan packages or flats for acceptance until the NEXT DAY, even when I've put them in the collection bins BEFORE 5pm. The young man whose job this seems to be leaves them in the bin until the end of next business day. When I have been fed up with standing in line and left my package with the prepaid label on their counter, it did not show up in the system as in the possession of the USPS until 12-24 hours later! How is this acceptable? I am fed up with poor service, when these people are paid very well for their jobs. read more

The employee named Mark is beyond rude. I went here to ship out a package and happily bought a box. the box i bought only came with two small pieces of packing tape. clearly not enough for the box itself. i asked him if he could spare a piece of tape for me and he aggressively stated i need to buy it. he then shoved the tape dispenser by his desk maybe an inch from my face shouting "this is all i have". it's strange because at the lafayette post office they have no problem doing this for me, they do it all the time. same with oakland and concord. i ship out multiple orders at a time and it's never been an issue. i told him about my positive experience at lafayette and why it was different here. he then aggressively stated "you should go to lafayette then not here". absolutely ridiculous. i will take his advice and go to different locations moving forward just to avoid his completely inappropriate behavior. read more

A real small town, caring post office! They even called to tell me about some packages that had just been delivered at my po box right after I'd been there. I have never had a problem here with my po box, sending packages, etc. There is a cost for my po box but after a few thefts at my house, this is worth it! I have lived in Moraga for 60+years and I have never had an unpleasant experience at the post office. The employees go out of their way to help and be accommodating. I am very appreciative of their dedication to serve the public! They all deserve a raise in pay! read more

Every time I've come here, I get service with a smile. I have used it for a PO Box for over a year & there has never been a problem. I feel like I get good value for the money. Whenever I have had to send a package, it's been quick & easy. I see lots of families getting their passport applications done & it looks pretty efficient. read more

I'm not sure what makes everyone so picky. But this is the best post office I've been to. The staff are friendly and informative. They all have worked there for a long time and each have their personalities which I love. My faves are Mark and Shelly. I do not love their new manager who is on his cell phone a lot and I hate it when he helps me because he's not very focused and doesn't know the things as well as the long timers. He also makes a big fuss when I ask for pretty stamps. Like I want the interesting ones, stop trying to make me get the flag ones, like seriously stop saying it over and over once I've already said I'm not interested. read more

I consistently have a great experience when I visit this post office - the postal workers are always friendly, efficient, and helpful! They often have a better recommendation on shipping method and packaging finesse than I could ever manage. To be honest I hate this post office. some of the workers there who just put my shipping Type without me telling them. I just wanted the regular shipping. The Lady didn't even ask me what type of shipping I wanted and she assumed I wanted to be fast shipping so she can charge me extra money. I, every time I go there they charge me priority shipping without me knowing, or I haven't even heard a question "sir or mam', what shipping would you like for this item?" This is a Rip off! If the boss of post office in Moraga is reading this, please warm your workers to ask customers what TYPE of shipping they want and not assume other things! read more

When will post offices ever have more than two people working the counter? I went in on a Saturday to mail something and there were only two windows open. But there was this guy who was just standing around and says "can I answer any questions?" Yeah, I have a question, why can't you just open another window! It took me a half hour to mail a single package and buy a book of stamps. read more

I was quickly taken care of not knowing what the best course of action was to mail a many-pages-long application. I'm fairly trusting that I was recommmended the most effective, yet cost effective solution. I guess we'll see if my application gets delivered on Saturday like the delivery confirmation slip I paid for says. I appreciated that this post office is open until 5:30 - gone are the days where the mini post office in Moraga, which is down the street from the office, was just a five minute walk away. read more

MUST READ: My wife and I sent a package to China that was worth about $500-$600 (New iphone). It was sent on April 13th and it never arrived to its destination. I called many times and they have told us that, sometimes it could take a while due to high volume of packages. When June came around, and checking constantly the tracking number almost everyday, we started worrying more and called a few times more, and we were given the same answer. This time, I was able to speak to the Post Master (aka manager), and she said that customs can sometimes hold packages for a while before it gets shipped. About 2-3 weeks later, we called the post master again, she said this was am unusual amount of time and that she was going to email the plant to find more info. About 2-3 more weeks later, she FINALLY calls me back telling me she did not get a response from them. I call her back, asking if she could message or ask them again about our package. By now, it has been some time and my wife and I are fearing the worst and this that this package was either taken/stolen by the postal service (whether it is here or China' side). She said she would send a message again, to help us ask where our package was. Another 3 weeks go by, and I never got a call back. I decided to call the post master again. She says she still haven't gotten an answer back from the plant, but she was going to ask them AGAIN. She said she would call me this time and I remember she said it would be a Thursday. Again, never heard back from her. Just yesterday, my wife and I go to the post office physically to talk to the post master. After asking her many times to about this package, she could not give an answer. We asked her if she really contacted the plant or were just pulling our chain and she either ignored us or probably never did it. After talking to her for about 20-30 mins, a Moraga police officer shows up. My wife tells her our side of the story and the officer even asks the post master what happened and she could not give a straight answer and just said she had no idea where our package went. In the end, there was nothing else the officer could do, so we wasted our time AND our package was lost. If this was a package that was only 10-20 dollars we would probably not go through all this trouble, but again, this is not the case. This was a gift for a relative, which was why we were willing to spend so much money on it. This is just unbelievable b/c we were worried something like this could happen, and well, it did! I am also surprised on how unprofessional and how poorly this post office handled this matter. I warn anybody who plan to send anything over-seas from this post office. We have sent many packages to China for family in the past from Orinda and have never experienced this! We still have our receipt and documents and are currently seeking legal advice to see if we have a case. read more

I like this post office a lot because it's big, bright, and efficient. Even though it's huge, and located in a very busy shopping center (Rheem valley shopping center), the line always moves fast and there are always several people working. read more

Staff is very friendly and that's about all you really want when you visit any post office because LET US FACE THE STARK REALITY - you'll pretty much find the same issues in every post office (up-selling products, etc.) with the possible exception of small town post offices. I'm not sure how to rate a post office so I put it at three stars. The people in there don't really talk a lot but I've had the same problems where they would assume you want the priority shipping without asking. Since I'm a broke college kid I always ask why is it so much then they lower the price lol. Besides that I've never had a problem delivering any of my packages or letters and they are helpful if you ask for it. The best part is the office is walking distance from my apartment! read more

Made an appointment for 9am for passport; the guy that does passports arrived 45 minutes late with no apology

They can get busy, a few of the clerks will try to upsell you for services that you may not want, but Shelly, one of the clerks, will bend over backwards to help you, and the male manager, is also really helpful. Most of the window clerks try to do a good job. Yes, the female manager is haughty and defensive. Compared to other post offices, this one is better, and a nice one to have in the neighborhood. read more

I applied for a Passport on a Saturday and was surprised that the Office wasn't that crowded. Very fast to get service as well. Highly recommended! read more
