Visited the Montebello USPS yesterday for my very first passport appointment since moving to East LA, and overall I had such a positive experience here! I'll admit, I walked in feeling both excited and anxious because I had never applied for a passport before. Right away I noticed how busy this location is, cars constantly coming in and out of the parking lot and people steadily flowing through the building. Thankfully I arrived early because, of course, I realized I forgot the DS-11 form my boyfriend had printed for me at the library. I'm someone who gets easily stressed by unexpected inconveniences, so internally I was definitely panicking for a second. Luckily, they provided me with a blank copy there and I was able to fill everything out before my appointment started. Little FYI for first timers: make sure you use BLACK ink! I really appreciated the patience and kindness of the employee who reviewed my paperwork. I had accidentally missed a few sections, but he calmly walked me through everything I still needed to complete before helping me take my passport photo. The passport photo itself was around $15, and he also explained the difference between getting the passport card versus the passport book. I originally noticed the cheaper card option, but he informed me that the card is mainly useful for limited travel purposes while the passport book is the better option if you plan on traveling internationally. Super helpful information for a first timer like me! After the little paperwork hiccup, the rest of the process was honestly quick and easy. The passport book itself was around $130 and after taxes and fees I paid about $186 total for everything. Even though this location stays super busy, it's refreshing interacting with employees who genuinely seem to enjoy helping customers and doing their jobs with a friendly attitude. That alone made the experience feel so much less intimidating. After leaving I realized there are actually two entrances and I exited through the front instead of the parking lot side. Overall, I definitely recommend handling your passport or postal needs here. The workers were patient, professional, and incredibly helpful. Just like every other post office I suppose, most of the workers are smart asses and ALWAYS have attitude. What ticks me off the most is that there is this chunky Asian carrier with longish hair, not like shoulder length but just thick hair parted down the middle who never freaking knocks! Caught this idiot today, I was on my couch 10 ft. away from the door when I heard footsteps, I figured cool! package! and he was just standing there..? (I have a glass door) so I opened the door and saw him writing the slip so that I have to drive to the post office and pick up the package, WTF!? I was RIGHT THERE!! and this isn't the first time he's done this, not only didn't he knock, but didn't ring the doorbell. Worst customer NO service ever!! I have been picking up packets for my work for the past 7 years. I went to pick up a priority packet and was told that they can't find it. I left my # for someone to call me once they find my packet. Got a call three days later said they found the packet. Went back to get it. Dumb customer supervisor, steve refused to release it to me claiming that I needed to show a business card as the office secretary. I told him that my name and phone # are on the print out attached to the envelope. Instead of apologizing for losing a priority mail packet and thanking me for using the usps for my business. Dumb ass steve told me and my boss "you don't have to use USPS". Beware of "customer no service supervisor steve" being a jerk. No wonder USPS is going broke. read more

My experience sending a package using the US post office was disappointing. The staff were polite but seemed inexperienced and made several mistakes during the process. The pricing was also confusing and I ended up paying more than I expected. Additionally, the package arrived at its destination later than expected. While the US post office may be a convenient option, I would suggest exploring other delivery services before choosing this one. read more

It's our American duty to support one of the last remaining public agencies; that takes care of "ALL OF US" nearly "EVERYDAY". Regardless of the shame it may carry; NO OTHER PUBLIC AGENCY is as AWESOME as the US Government Postal EMPLOYEES, who walk for miles for US. read more

Terrible. Poor customer service. They lost my package and gave me the run around on top of it. Very rude supervisor lady behind the counter also....I hope they shut down the USPS. Waste of money. read more
