This is a small office but it has everything you need. The workers here look like they've been here for a while they know everything. Ask them anything. They have stamps and boxes if you need them. You can send it anywhere. They are super nice especially the ladies. Just make sure you get there before it closing time. They will start closing the door at closing. So get there on time. I like that's it's so close to when I live but I do not like that the clerks do not explain the entire change of address process and how it still has to be verified despite me verifying my address in person and being send a letter that I need to verify once again. So none of my mail was routed into the mailbox for an entire month. read more

I called to speak to a representative about my delayed package & it did not help! Why do businesses make people deal with A.I. unintelligbles anyway?! Maybe make it easier for someone to find out about their packages when they call instead of allowing A.I. to not be helpful! I'm not a fan of this location. Out of the two main post offices in whittier, this is my least favorite. The line is always soooooo slow and I've yet to receive even remotely friendly assistance. The interior tends to be a little gross at times as well. The location itself is convenient and there is typically a fair amount of street parking available. Will I be back? Yes, unfortunately.... But it's not my first choice, I'll likely just keep driving a little further to the Michigan location, they might be slow but at least they're friendlier. read more

Fast service. Even though there was only one employee working, this had to be the fastest I have been in and out of a post office in years. I had to return a JUJUBE bag (another review) that had me go to an actual post office. Plenty of street parking, but it is "20 minutes only". They do not have any passport services, but they did have the forms on the wall. I really needed my receipt as proof that I dropped off the bag, so good thing she asked me. In a time where everyone is feeling a bit disenfranchised and separated it's good to find a place that still exists as a lifeline. Though many people might consider the US Postal Service to be a lethargic and unneeded service it still is the one of the most reliable, and affordable, services to us. It's history is quite literally on display at this location from the historic architecture to the photos on the walls. Walking in feels like a step back in history and what better way to experience the past. I personally have never had much issues with this place but I also understand this post office can get quite busy. With the pandemic on full hit I've waited in lines of 10-15 people. I did get out in less than 15 minutes but you never know what the wait might actually be since every day is different. The good thing about the place though is that there's plenty of eye candy to see. Plus, it is a Pokemon gym if you have that app. It's enough to help wandering eyes and restless individuals waiting in line. Parking is easy found in front or around the neighborhood. If you live in the area, it is an easy walk over. Overall, I like the place and it has become my favorite post office in So Cal thus far. read more

Can no longer keep my silence. Absolutely the worse delivery system. There was a time when the neighbors would come out after the mail delivery and exchange mail to the correct person. Packages with insurance for one of a kind collectors items show delivered but not to my address. Prominent numbers in front of my house do not seem to matter to the person delivering my packages. They try to locate but let's face it, items are lost to the world. One time post office manager gave me the address where the item went. Knocked on their door. Of course they had no idea what I was talking about. Hope they enjoy my new camera. One would think people would make an effort to get package to correct address. If I made as many mistakes at work as they do, I would be written up many times over. If postal worker does not care about efficiency, seek other employment. Last two packages delivered crushed beyond recognition. Retaliation maybe. read more

In spite of the negative reviews, this is a great post office. We can all have bad days and things go wrong and perhaps errors are made but the staff has always been helpful, friendly and cooperative when I have had any issues. I would like to have 24 hour access to my PO Box like before, but I understand why they had to impose lobby hours. Thank you for your service to the community even through the pandemic. read more

I have been coming here almost everyday for 3 years, My Business relies on the Post Office, I really appreciate the Hard work that these Clerks do, even with Covid-19 they keep working and moving forward and are always helpful, sometimes I feel bad for them as they are overworked and seem to be understaffed I know from time to time a supervisor from another unit will come over but they seem limited in their abilities to jump right in a help the clerks move the line. but I am thankful for this team here. :) Ignacio read more

3+ stars for the actual staff inside this little postal station, and I hate to be this brutal with next statement, but Zero stars for the mail carriers that service the surrounding area. I've never had any issues with this post office & the front desk clerks. For a tiny office, they hustle & give good service. My beef is with the carriers. In the past several years, it's become a routine w/my mail, either I get it or it gets delivered to the wrong address and I always end up calling or going to the business (for ex. the DMV) and inquire as to what happened to my documents (License, Tags, etc) and always the same excuse, it got returned to sender. What the $)#%? Well thanks to this 22nd time of my mail being delivered to the wrong address, now I have to take time out & lose money in gas again & go back the DMV and straighten this out. Hopefully I receive it this time, but I'm prepared for the let down. I've lived in this area for years & most recently, it's just getting worse when it comes to getting our mail (It's not just me). And I've had suggestions in paying for a PO box, why should I? Plus I had looked into that, there's so many unnecessary rules & "do's and don'ts", mostly what they don't, it's not worth wasting money on something that's limited. I guess over 10 years ago all the good service stopped when people started retiring & more cutbacks & increase in rates went up. Love old architectural buildings ... people look so serious though. i know the work is repetitive and the building looks gloomy in the inside but you ( postal workers ) can brighten up this beautiful building with a SMILE!!!! I came up to the counter smiled and said hi, all I got was how can I help you sure turned my smile upside down. And everything was just so monotone and robotic .... I still gave it a five because my letters and packages always gets to its destinations ! I don't know maybe I just expected everyone all happy and skippidy like my mail carrier at my house and at one of the schools I work for ! I don't know maybe some brighter lights ?? ZERO STARS!!! I am updating my one star review and make it a negative 100 review. I am over all the post offices in Whittier. I sell stuff online and my customers pay for shipping. I pretty much do all the work for the post office, all they have to do is SCAN the damn shipping label and get it to where it needs to go. But do they do that? Of course NOT. But that is not the worst part of it because, hey, mistakes happen, mail gets lost, etc, etc. But when you go and ask about your package they speak to you like YOU messed up. Are you sure you delivered the package? Nah, I think I hallucinated that one time I came and made line just to make sure you had it in your HANDS. And since they don't scan it, it's like your package never existed. So here you are frantically trying to locate a dress that should have arrived days ago to New Jersey and it's like trying to find a needle in a hay stack because the package does not exist in the USPS world because someone in Whittier was too damn lazy to scan it! Try to contact their customer service and you should get an answer in 3-4 days...the hell!!!!! The ONLY damn reason I use USPS to ship is because it's the only option given in the platform I use to sell online, but eff that, I am so done with them! read more

Slow service with a friendly and knowledgeable staff. The two kinda offset each other. The building looks like it's been here for ages, but then again I don't remember when the last time I went to a "MODERN" post office was... I don't think ever. Sometimes there are beggars at the front of the steps but they're harmless and actually are friendly too--I dunno why I'm so pro-Whittier friendliness. So the Bailey station is just one of 3 post offices within a 1 mile radius in Whittier... I actually get lost at this one a lot, I always make the wrong turn on Washington and end up at the Library somehow... be careful! read more

This post office is located in an older building Uptown. I have no way of proving this, but I think this used to be Whittier's main post office before all the fields were subdivided and turned into houses. The building itself is kind of cool, although you've seen it a hundred times if you've been to other old post offices. As a whole, service is as slow as at most post offices. There's something cool, though, about being in one of these old buildings. read more

They just straight up stopped delivering my mail with no notice. I had put up a "For Rent" sign in my yard, but I was still at my house EVERY DAY. I was expecting some important mail, as well as packages. They just stopped delivering ANYTHING. Sending international packages through this USPS is a joke. They advertise 10 business days for delivery. One package I sent in July took 6 weeks to deliver and another package I recently sent just cleared U.S. customs after TWO WEEKS and will probably take another two weeks to deliver. If you want a package delivered on time, don't use USPS. read more

Smaller than the PO on Michigan, but I still prefer this one for the service. The main Whittier post office on Michigan has a drive-through box, for quick drop offs (Netflix, in my case). It's quaint; the building itself is pretty old, but nicely kept. People at the service desk are friendly and efficient. There's also a FedEx drop box outside. read more

For those seeking to get a PO BOX @ this location let me save you some time. They literally want to give you a background check in order to give you a simple Po Box. A CA Picture I.D./Piece of Mail With Your Old Address/DMV Registration Card With Your Old Address is not sufficient for them. They do not care if you are going through a Hardship. They ask you to get a passport. Theres an oriental customer service agen that has hair on her chin, avoid her because she literally checks your personal information like if she's trying to find something wrong with your information just to tell you "NO" you cannot open a Po Box. Her Caucasian Manager was even worse she literally told me to go down the street with the Man. I didn't even know what Man she was talking about. This is the worse customer service experience that I have ever experienced with usps besides them loosing your packages all the time. But dont let a well dressed person cross their path @ the usps office because they will treat them differently then a middle class human being. Good news is that I went to another post office in Whittier after that bad experience & I got my Po Box open. Totally different treatment from the customer service agents & they even apologized for them giving us a hard time. read more

I bought express delivery for 19.99 and it states that if the packages does not arrive by its guaranteed date you get a refund. My package not only did not arrive but got delivered to the wrong address. After hours on the phone with their 800 number they admitted their fault and said they will track it down and eventually get it to me. At the post office it was a different story. First the customer service rep thinks I am scamming her for 19.99. She doesn't believe it was delivered to the wrong place. Eventually she realizes it was in fact delivered to the wrong place. I ask to get my refund to which she immediately states she cannot do that. Her response was, "it was delivered." I asked her when they authorized refunds and she said, "when the package does not arrive at it's allotted time." I explained that this was exactly my scenario- my package was not delivered within the 24 hours and even more then that...it is LOST!! I also say if I sent a package to Israel and you send it to Hong Kong yes it may be delivered but that doesn't mean that the job was done correctly....right? She said there was nothing she could do, it was not her fault blah blah blah She directed me to the USPS website to file a complaint (which I already have done) and to report a lost item (also already done). Her job is to represent USPS and help customers. USPS delivers a service- delivering packages. They did not do that service. She should have helped and been kind but instead she was rude and unhelpful. No more USPS for me- that is for sure. read more

Awful awful service :-( been in here twice for my packages and the lady at the front is just rude. Each package already has shipping label printed out and she gave me a hard time twice. I don't see why it's such a hassle when he postage is on there already. I just needed to drop package and pay for tape and out of now where she says I owe $10 when the tape is $3 I asked why so much she said I needed more postage and said it shouldn't be anymore postage and she was about to ship it to the back I said no I don't want to ship through usps she got all mad and said why did t you tell me and I said I just found out now you didn't say anything you rang everything up and told me my total I have her money for the tape and left an went to the mail room store and mailed my package that did not need any extra postage and shipped no problem. Let me begin by saying I am extremely disappointed in this post office and the USPS customer service who I have been trying to get a hold of since Saturday 07/02/2016. I paid extra to have my packet delivered on time and have been tracking my package since I paid for it and the tracking is not accurate. on 07/02/2016., at 10:30AM they attempted to deliver and the delivery mail man just left a note without knocking funny I was home that day. I immediately contacted the post office customer service number only to be on hold for 45 minutes and when someone finally came on the line they disconnected my call. I then tried calling the post office and to my surprise they were closed. so then I re-scheduled my pick up on line for 07/05/2016. Finally Tuesday I contacted the store through out the day to get confirmation of my packet to be delivered and no answer called the customer service number and they did not know where my packet was. My packet was never delivered. Further more the tracking system on the USPS website clearly notes my packet was set to be delivered 07/05/2016., and it is IN TRANSIT well no one can figure out where my packet is. Today 07/06/2016., I contacted once again the customer service number after no answer from this post office to find out that they don't know where my packet is again!!! the representative contacted the Delivery Supervisor at this post office and was promised a call back to provide me status of where my packet is and no call back. We pay for a service to the united states post office that is not provided, I believe this is a training issue as no one ever picks up the phone and they cant figure out where my packet is! But they are quick to charge you an arm and a leg to get the package delivered! DISSAPOINTED! DISSAPOINTED! DISSAPOINTED!!!!! Shame On This POST OFFICE! read more

Horrible experience! I am new to shipping so I went in to ask about shipping to Indonesia. I waited in line and asked a male employee the price to ship an item. I gave him the exact address and weight and he said my total to ship to Indonesia would be $70. So, I got the package ready and took it to another usps (this one was closed) and there the female employee said the shipment would be at least $350! This guy really f$cked me up!!!! I sold an item on eBay and now because of his stupidity I will suffer the consequences! Thanks a lot idiot from usps you should know better!!!! Zero stars! Poor customer service!!!!! read more

I think the receipt paper is laced with gold, because this post office sure does not want to give you any of that valuable receipt paper! I had two packages go missing (out of fairness to this location, it was in a different city). So I started asking for receipts when I took packages with pre-paid labels to the counter. I was told on multiple occasions that they were not allowed to give me a receipt. I finally had to get confirmation from a supervisor at the Michigan location that this was not true, and I could call him if there were any problems. I stopped asking for receipts until a few weeks ago I had another package go missing. Today I had to send out two very expensive packages so I went inside instead of using the slot in the wall. The male employee told me that next time I should print out a "scan acceptance form" and bring it in because I had two packages and he had to do them separately and the form would save the trouble of having to do this. He then scanned both of my packages and handed me one receipt. So I am not sure what the issue was about having two packages. I guess he had to do the hard work of holding the scan gun over two packages. The horror! Here is the irony... the process of removing the piece of paper from his cubicle to show it to me and then put it back took longer than the actual scan process. Maybe it was not his idea and he was told by the powers that be that he has to inform all his customers about this form. Who knows. But I fail to see how it makes any sense for me to print out an 8.5" X 11" piece of paper at home just to save the employee the hard work of a second scan. Really? Hey post office people, the only reason I even asked for a scan was because of multiple lost packages on your end! One package never turned up and I was out $50. And while I am on the subject of this post office, I want to add that their mail sorting process is dreadful. Every time we put a hold on our mail when we are out of town, we get someone else's important mail. One time we had a car registration renewal that had been sitting in our pile while we were gone. I feel bad for the person who probably got dinged with a late fee from the DMV. The address wasn't even anywhere close to us so we could not hand deliver it to the person and explain what happened. Every time without fail we get wrong mail and sometimes the dates of service are wrong as well. The bottom line... do not trust this post office with anything. I've lived in Whittier for over 30 years and for the most part mail service from the Bailey Street Station has been good. We had a station supervisor named Henry Padilla, who seemed to really care and corrected problems quickly. Since he left and the new Postmaster took over the entire area, the station itself has simply deteriorated. It seems like morale is at an all time low and mail delivery is terrible, with the exception of ONE carrier, John Tanori, who knows his route and never delivers mail to the wrong home or fails to deliver it. When John is off or on vacation, service is literally pathetic. But, who's fault is that? It's management's fault. I went into the Bailey Street Station to complain about receiving someone else's mail one day when John was away. The line was literally out the front door and NOT ONE postal employee was at the front counter. After waiting ten minutes, I walked around to the back of the post office and asked to speak with the supervisor. I was standing about 10 feet from the dock near some parked cars. The so-called "supervisor" came out yelling at me, telling me I couldn't be back there and if I didn't leave immediately he would have me removed. He then rudely - very rudely - told me to take up my problems at the front counter. At that point I had reached my limit and aggressively told him I couldn't take it up with anyone at the front counter because there was no one there and no one had been there for more than 10 minutes. He again yelled at me to leave the back immediately. This is an example of terrible management. The front of the post office was entirely - 100% - unattended, and rather than thanking me for bringing it to his attention, he threatened me. With the exception of John Tanori, this post office needs a shakeup from the top down. The problem is generally not with the carriers, but with management. They don't know how to communicate with people and have caused morale to drop to unacceptable levels. I'll review this post office again once Washington, D.C. steps in and corrects the problem; something I'm asking my Member of Congress to initiate. They need to start with the Postmaster, who seems to be more interested in demonstrating his authority over carriers than actually getting our mail delivered efficiently. read more

It is the third time that my money order for my rent payment gets lost. I put it inside the post office because it should be more secure, but apparently, it's NOT. I have to wait two months for a response from US Post Office, my landlord can't wait and I had to pay late fees. I was told by a front desk worker that it frequently happens where payments for property management companies get lost. I told P.O. manager that they need to replace their back office workers or put cameras so they can see who is steeling. I suggest to people who send payments to property managements should write someones name instead of property management!!! read more
