You'd think the US post office would provide better service for its customers but no. If you can avoid this location, go somewhere else. Hey! About a month ago I went to this location for (and I plead the Fifth on my reason) and the lobby entrance door was closed and heavily chain locked shut! Probably lost the key to lock and unlock the double doors! (The look like brand new heavy duty chain was wrapped around the inside handles of the double glass doors!) One stupid note! At the North Downey location from November 2004-April 2005 a homeless vagaband staked a claim there each and every night! He looked mean and always looked upset. When I went there looking in the trash barrels for magazines and good stuff women would call me outside and ask if that "angry looking man poses any kind of threat to women?" I reassured them that he only looks mean. In Dec. 2004 I asked a clerk: Me: "What do you plan on doing about the homeless man that stays here every night?" She: "We're going to have to lock the lobby doors so he cannot come in. Unfortuneately people won't be able to get to their P. O. Boxes." I asked the clerk if she would like for me to relay that info to the homeless man. She said that would be nice if I could. So I did. That bum cussed me up and down and called me a liar and to leave him alone. I told him to not to get angry if the police cart him away. Never did lock the lobby doors. In Jan. 2005 the homeless man was still there. I asked the same lame clerk the same question I had asked her in December. She copped out the same answer and added this: She: "And that would prevent the trash diggers from coming in as well." But in the south location they heavy duty chain link lock the double doors! And in the north location they never did lock them shut! That homeless vagaband might have harmed a woman or a few! Them elfeDUMBralis And a note was taped on the upper inside glass of one of the doors that read and I quote: "FLOODED" This place has had an issue with a leaky roof for over at least five to ten years! Every time it rains heavy the DUMBployees (the inside jobber ones not the mail carriers) use a tin trash barrel with plastic liner (that also leak) to collect the water that drips from the cardboard ceiling panels! (I would say asbestos ceiling panels but I do not know what these ceiling panels consist of.) NOTE: This is the reason why some ceiling panels are missing. What? Is the entire USPS so broke this location cannot have the roof fixed as to tar spread on the roof where the leaks are?! And who's to say they won't chain lock the lobby doors again when they're "FLOODED" again? read more

I came in early this month to send greeting cards overseas in time for the holiday, but the clerk misunderstood: "you stood in line the same time as everyone else" so (customer service and) small talk is unnecessary here. Social distancing makes the line look longer, the line was out the door and into the mailbox area. There are floor squares or orange dots on the counter to mark the space between you and others. The clerk tried to get me to send my lumpy Christmas card as a parcel instead of paying only an extra $0.15 for a non-machine sortable envelope. The last counter is for prepaid package drop off, but even though the posted cutoff time is 3:00 I overheard them tell a postal customer that turning it in an hour earlier doesn't qualify for next day delivery. read more

Aside from our usual lady who delivers our mail - although she is seemingly always on vacation or helping with other routes - I'm at my wit's end with this office. We have a Ring in addition to survelliance cameras so I can see who is throwing packages around and whatnot. It's happened with numerous different employees particularly with media packages (DVDs, books, comics). This year I have had countless items come through our mail slot that have been opened. On Monday (7/9/18) I canceled a new credit card because its envelope had been opened. Some of the younger postal workers keep leaving our neighbors' mail at our house. I have a feeling countless items of ours have been tossed in the trash because they were delivered to the wrong house. In early June also of this year, I received a City bill from a person that lives clear on the other side of town. I wrote on there that it was delivered to our house on _____ and brought it back to this office. My favorite was when this chick put a whole stack of ALDI grocery ads through our mail. Smh... When I call to complain the line just rings and rings. When I go up there to ask for the manager, he isn't there or he gets an attitude with me. Never do I drop mail off in the blue bins outside anymore. It's known for mail theft. In late June, a neighbor complained about "a sticky substance on the inside of the mail slots." Another neighbor claimed that she dropped off mail in one of them and later learned that her "check had been fraudulently changed and cashed for over $900." If I could change service, I would. TIP - I have been using the free "Informed Delivery" app which "gives residential consumers the ability to digitally preview their letter-size tailpieces and manage their packages scheduled to arrive soon"... it might help you as well, but it doesn't prevent the mail carriers from carelessly dropping them and putting them in plain view of porch pirates if you're away read more

Customer service is usually so drab and un-cheerful. Lines are usually way too long due to there only being 2 people working the counter. They took out the stamp vending machines that were in the lobby, so now you have to wait 20 minutes in line just for a stamp! They have to lock the lobby doors after a certain time because of the homeless. And 9 out of 10 times I go, there is some crazy asking for money at the front door when I walk in. Made an online 1:15pm appointment for passport service . Arrived at 1:05pm & was told by the staff there that she was going to leave for lunch when she's done with the person ahead of me. I told her it was my lunch break & I had to get back to work. She told me that I should reschedule to another day or I could wait for her to come back from lunch. What's the point of making appointment then? I had to wait 3 weeks for this appointment. Ended up making another appointment 3 weeks from now at a different location. Told the employee I was standing at the passport window waiting to be service but no one came so I went to the other line . I used to go to the post office on Florence because it's closer to home. But the same chatterbox was the only person EVER working and trust me...when it's break time she's gone! regardless of how many people in line. So i started driving across town to this post office on Firestone. I've never had complaints because the people are nice and they've always been quick. But things have changed! The line is ALWAYS long and the last few times I've been here there is one person working!! JESSICA is amazing and handles the crowd expertly, friendly and as quick as she can. I'd give her 5 stars if they were just for her!!!! But i don't have time. nor do I WANT to stand in line 30 minutes to mail one little package! Im not sure what's going on and i doubt it's the employees fault. People don't want to work anymore!!! What I've learned from watching YouTube &TikTok is that now more than ever it's so important to be patient. There's so many new rules and things that we are adjusting to in this world that we live in today. I've been trying to get my passport since quarantine started. I finally was able to book my appointment at my local Downey Post office. This was definitely an eye-opening experience . Learned some stuff out about myself that I did not know. Turns out I don't even know my real name. My First name is Crystal Denisse . My mom didn't even realize. I told her she must have been on drugs from the labor. She told me she had me natural . I mean the only people I know that have two first names are like Country folk , Southern bells or adult entertainers. My whole life has been a lie. So let me introduce myself my name is Crystal Denisse LOL! Moving forward. I got there early then my appointment because I did have some questions on the paperwork ( My new name was definitely one )There was a point where the place was packed. I just worked on my paperwork and at 1:20 The post office was empty . Finally I had all my paperwork finalized and you'll be glad to know that in 4 to 6 weeks I will have a passport. Open Saturdays!!!! It's nice to find a post office with extra weekend hours. The office is kept clean, provides hand sanitizer and mandates everyone entering to wear a mask. Yesterday on 10/14/2022 I had to drop off a package for return. This USPS was the closest to the FEDEX where I had to print out a label and a package slip. As soon as I walked in I went in trying to find a plastic to put the label in. I'm hard of hearing so sometimes when people talk to me specially if my right side is facing the person who is speaking to me it makes it difficult for me to hear if anyone is talking to me. DANA was talking to me but I didn't hear her then she approached me and asked me if I needed help. I told her I want to send this return package I have the label I just need the plastic. So she helped me look for it and they didn't have any plastic for the label but she suggested I buy strips of tape to cover the label. Which I thought was a great way to improvise and the tape wasn't expensive either. As I was taping the label Dana was welcoming new customers as they were coming in and asking if they needed help. After I finished taping the label she showed me how to use the self serve machine to send my return package back. I spent about 10-15 min in there. Thank you Dana for being patient and providing great service and help. read more

Funniest crap ever!! I get a birthday card every single year from Colorado, and EVERY single year the card arrives open. Funny...... post man stated this year, check if anything is missing. This post office really works my nerves. If I could give zero stars I would. Since they are the post office that delivers to my house I must come here to pick up undelivered packages. I order things online quite a bit and ever since they changed our delivery man of over 15 years to a different route we have had nothing but problems. They claim to deliver packages and leave those yellow redelivery notes on our door but that isn't the case, we've checked our home security cameras, they don't even knock on the door or ring the doorbell. This is utter laziness. This last time really pissed me off. I paid for 2 day delivery and guess what happened? You guessed it, not even a knock on the door again, and I was home! So my son's package was missed and he needed his stuff for a wrestling tournament. I never received the redelivery slip but luckily I track the package online and I could reschedule for the following day. No such luck, they couldn't find the package according to the man inside this post office, it had been misplaced. It didn't come for four more days!!! I was livid to say the least. I really hate this office. No supervisor is on duty on Saturday and the people at the counter are useless. Unfortunately there is nothing I can do but continue to complain. So if your are expecting great service be warned it won't happen here. Also they no longer complete passport applications at this location. You must now go to Bell Gardens or Norwalk to get that processed. They have a lot for parking but that also sucks here. So be warned when attempting to deal with the workers here. read more

I had my daughter's wedding invitations weighed and purchased stamps the stamps at the Santa Fe Springs Post office .
