I've been wanting to review this place for so long. It takes 38 mins to buy an envelope while you wait in a 4 people line. The cashiers don't have change so they wander around and leave the window AGAIN so there's more waiting. Then, when they decide to comeback try to "help you" and save humanity by providing you with an envelope. You are not doing me a favor. Worst customer award goes to them. This is for all USPS around. When ever shipping with them they always try to get you to buy their insurance. Of course if a package gets damaged the insurance should cover it correct? Negative! I've got insurance in the past and haven't had a problem till now. Shipped a 900 dollar item and USPS broke it, I filed a claim and of course they denied the claim. Didn't even contact me to ask any questions or pictures of anything. Just DENIED! Wow so you buy insurance and they just pocket your money and walk away. Absoulutely the worst posty office ever. Never get my mail. I live in the back house and they are to lazy to carry the mail to the back. The mail box as been established for well over 20 years. They drop everything in my landlords slot in the front. She is not always home my mail could set there for weeks. First, it is not my landlords responsibilty to get my mail to me. it it the carriers. Two my husband is a very sick man and now on several occasions he has been kicked of programs because of the lack of service. This is the worst post office I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. I had two packages that were supposed to have been delivered to me on Saturday, the 5th, but the carrier refused to deliver saying it was "undeliverable" which is a lie. She never tried to bring it to me or even leave it on the mailbox like she usually does. I rescheduled delivery for Monday, the 7th...but still received nothing. Called the main post office phone number to open a case against Hawthorne and to do another reschedule, only to get a message at midnight that there was a carrier delay. Needless to say, I don't think they will be bringing me my property today either. And now another package they claim was delivered, was not. The only thing I received was a stack of adverts, but no package. So now it's three packages they refuse to give me. This place sucks big time, and this is not the first time they have pulled this nonsense. These people have screwed me over 2 times now. First I come in and the website says "walk-ins" for getting a passport. I have my application already filled out, and have to leave work in the middle of the day to go here because the hours are terrible. When I get here THE FIRST TIME I'm told that walk ins aren't welcome, and I have to make an appointment. Then when I'm back THE SECOND TIME they tell me the camera for taking the pictures is broken. So I had to get a Lyft (because I don't have a car) and go to CVS to get the picture taken. Then come back and wait in line, which is now longer. I have spent so much valuable work time on this stupidity. I am standing in the post office as I write this STILL waiting. I will update this with more problems should they arise. my star review above says 1*, it actually should say 0. For those of you considering signing up for 'Premium Mail Forwarding Service,' Please save yourself time, money and headaches - don't do it. Especially if you are going through the Hawthorne USPS. I signed up for PMFS in the beginning of January. $15 set up fee + $17 a week for weekly priority mail forwarding. It is now March and out of the 6 supposed deliveries i got 1. I got that 1 service because i called the supervisor Dan, and hassled him. When i spoke with this supervisor, Dan, He stated he had no forwarding records for me. When i explained to him i signed up on the USPS website, and i was being billed automatically every week, his response: "I don't go on the internet, I need a hard copy handed to me in person at the post office" On further prompting, my paperwork magically appears. Then he states he needs a forwarding label, whatever that means. When i give him my forwarding address, that also magically appears, 'oh here it is' After that fiasco, i got 1 shipment. after that no shipments again, for 4 weeks. Whenever I call Hawthorne usps, its either busy or they put me on hold and i get disconnected. No one ever calls me back, they know my number and I am calling everyday. I am the only 'Premium Mail Forwarding Service' in the whole post office! Consumer affairs is a little bit more helpful, but still hasn't resolved my case. The seller sent the package out via Priority Mail 1-Day on Monday, 9/14/15. The package was to be delivered from Sherman Oaks, CA to Irvine, CA or about 50 miles away. It was misdelivered next day to USPS at the Hawthorne, CA location on Tuesday, 9/15/15 at 9:06 a.m. It was allegedly out for delivery. But, on the same day, Tuesday, 9/15/15 at 10:34 a.m., it was again scanned arrived at Hawthorne, CA. After numerous phone calls to USPS, Consumer Affairs, and US Postal Inspector, the package was still at Hawthorne, CA. As of the following Monday, 9/21/15, the package is still missing and no tracking information since last Tuesday. Worst yet, you are not allowed to file a missing package claim until 60 days later. NEVER SEND A PACKAGE VIA USPS AGAIN!!!! Use UPS or FedEX. read more

This place deserves zero stars, I've watched the post man write one of those little pink "we missed you" slips for a package he never tried to deliver! They will hold your items for weeks and say it was " handed off directly" like you really have to show ass to get your items. I had set an appointment a few weeks ago to get my password picture taken. Today I received a message from Denise stating that they don't take photos at that location. I decide to call her back and ask her about what I should do. I first talked to Nicole, she wasn't too helpful. I get like she was rushing me to get off the phone and belittling me. She was ghetto but I kept my professionalism, she then pass the call to Denise. Denise wasn't too helpful either, same vibe from her. Didn't care and rushing me to get off the phone. Not sure if everyone there has ever been trained in speaking to customers but their verbiage is elementary when they try to communicate. I'm disappointed on the hiring process of out federal employees at the postal office. These two employees need additional training and hope that the post master reads this. However, when I came here after the office was closed to drop off some packages in a drop off box, I met one of the carriers around the back and he offered to take them immediately and make sure they shipped out today. I had a problem with the fill in carrier and know how my mail should be handled because I work for this wonderful organization. I did my own complaint and requested a email response and kicked myself later because I should have chose a telephone call response. The supervisor in which I didn't catch her name called me. She was professional and told me what I already knew about how my mail should be handled. She handled it in a professional way and eased my mind at the same time. That goes to say.......talk with your carrier and if it escalates to a debate in which I didn't have time for. Speak with their supervisor. Climb that rope of command. It'll get resolved. read more

This post office doesn't even deserve one star... Really poor customer service. I had made an appointment for my 8 month old to get a passport. When I made the appointment online it says to arrive 10 mins early. I arrived 15 mins early. The lady decides to go on a break during my appointment. She doesn't see us at 12 she was late. She didn't even offer before going to lunch if I needed the passport paper work. She comes back and gets upset that I don't have it. Well anyways of course we know that we would have to pay an extra fee because we need it before the end of this month. But this lady was charging me $115 for a passport for an 8 month old plus the total to get it delivered fast would be $225.50 for an 8 month old. My husband of course didn't agree on the price. We expected to have an extra charge but not that much of a charge for an 8 month old. So my husband tells me to go to another place. At this time I just want to hurry up and get the passport. I had forgotten his social so we went home real quick to get it I wasn't even gone for 5 mins since I live walking distance from the post office. So I come back and the lady doesn't even want to see me. And said I had to make an appointment again. At this point I'm irritated but I just walk out and my husband decides to take us to another post office where they accept walk ins. So we have to do the process all over again. Paper work and wait but the best part was the price. They charged us $80 for the passport for my 8 month old. And we paid a total of $175 to get it delivered on time before our vacation trip. So please if you guys need to get a passport do more research before coming into this office. They overprice you on the passport idk if maybe they pocket the money for it. But it's ridiculous what they were charging us for a baby. The post office by the airport that we went to was a bit more full since it's all walk ins but a lot more friendlier and honest. They didn't try to over charge us for q babies passport. So please again do your research and safe yourself from a horrible experience. read more

I think the post office there steals peoples packages. One day on facebook I decided to look at the page for adding friends and it used to show a lot of people I did not know and most of them were black. When I looked at their pages I saw they worked for the USPS, and their locations were in the vicinity of this same work place. I have had 10 packages mysteriously DISAPPEAR while sitting at this post office awaiting for transfer. I dont think its a coincidence that people would be searching facebook for my name (which is rare) and then the people looking be individuals I dont know at all that happen to work for USPS. I think these people need to be evaluated and watched and I really hope there are 24/7 cameras inside the facility that watch every move they make and cannot be controlled by them. Driving down to the area which is over 2 hours from where I live, was difficult enough and its obvious from the inside of this place that the entire area is full of crime, and of COURSE my package was not there and they couldn't find it. Anytime I order something and I see its been taken to this post office I hold my breath because its likely I will never receive it. I try not to use it at all and will drive somewhere else to drop off my mail. The mail carrier decided not to deliver my mail because she has an issue with my dog barking at her. I have a security screen door and an 18 pound dog that can't possibly get to her through that door... But Karma is going to come her way as I'm filing a complaint regarding her delivering the mail while chit-chatting on her cell phone. I've taken pictures of the front of my house so when I go there tomorrow, I have some proof the dog can't get to her. Lazy, lazy people there and out delivering our mail. Absolutely horrible service. Whoever mails my packages just leaves pink slips at my mailbox an claims no one was there to answer the door. This is a lie because I always check the tracking and the time the person claims no one is here and me and my family are there. This is just laziness on the part of the person who sends the mail because they don't want to carry my package and on the employees at the office who don't care enough to listen to my concerns. I pay for fast shipping so it's a waste of time and money for me to have to wait and go down to some rude and employees and pick up my item. I went in today because I got tired of this happening and the lady at the pick up window had a bad attitude and told me that she can't do anything about it. I demanded to talk to a supervisor but no one was available. I got a phone number an called later and it was the same person telling me that no supervisor was available. I didn't know this Post Office was in a war zone. This place is terrible, and depressing. Aside from the thick plexiglass protecting the employees from the customers, there are nine cameras in the waiting area. Nine? Why would this be necessary? Who would rob a Post Office? If you're mailing a package, you have to put it in a vault that only opens one side at a time, like I'm in a bank in a bad part of town. Again, why is this necessary? There seems to be clutter all over the place, discarded postal slips, or postal documents sitting on the floor. I would like to blame the Post Office, but I don't think this is their fault, they serve the local community. The problem is the people frequenting this place. It's us. The postal employees can only react to the people who come in. If there is trash everywhere, maybe we need to clean up after ourselves. Maybe they'd be nicer if we were nicer. If they require bulletproof glass, it's our fault .I still don't understand the glass. Who robs a Post Office? This place is depressing, but unfortunately it delivers mail to my house. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Worst mailing experience I have ever had. I had purchased an iPad from a Third-party dealer and was told I would receive the package within a week. Two days after the original designated delivery date I called the help hotline which was virtually useless (virtual being quite literal as you will spend what feels like half a decade speaking to their automated help system) after an hour wait time I managed to get a representative to tell me that they sent the package on the wrong route, had to send it back to sorting, and I'd have to wait for it to be delivered from that point forward. Couple days go by, and I'm notified that my package was delivered. It's nowhere to be found. I now have to go into the post office during the Covid Pandemic because apparently those who still have jobs can't do theirs correctly. Shame our tax dollars go to these chumps while minimum wage workers from Amazon ensure my package will be at my doorstep in 2 days. read more

Some of the mail carriers at this location are excellent, but those individuals seem to cycle in and out. This location also added $10.00 postage due for a package mailed from a post office with "if it fits it ships" postage fully paid by the sender. Also much mid-delivered mail that ends up elsewhere, and we get mail for people who don't even live on our street! read more

So I go in to mail a flat rate box. Something I've done dozens of times. Fold the box, fill it out, wait in line. I get called to the next available window. As I get to the window, a woman yells out for the next customer. The woman who I am currently dealing with tells me to go to the next lady. Weird but whatever. As the customer behind me goes to that window, it's obvious they are friends. Oh well. I put the box in. She starts to weigh it and start the process then looks at me and says "what are you doing? Why did you fold the box like this" to which I reply, puzzled, "that's how it says to do it (if you've ever done this, there's really no way you can incorrectly do it)". She replies with "go do it again, next customer" so as I'm redoing the box, one of the woman's coworkers comes over and says he has no idea why she said that, but redoes a new box, tapes it up to be safe, apologizes and sends me on my way. Allowing me to pay with him. If I acted like her at my job, I'd be written up. But there is no accountability within the USPS, and employees know it which is why they act like you're the scum of the earth. The USPS is a joke, and the reason why I will always opt for private companies to ship my goods from here on out. The woman, whose name I didn't get, but she was Hispanic and it started with an M, is truly a piece of work. Go elsewhere for your needs. This place is just awful. read more
