Oh what joy it always is to visit any public building nowadays. The Post Office is no exception and this one is particularly grim. First of all the parking lot is tiny for only 6 cars! Crazy small. And on a busy street so street parking is a bad idea. Second, it is tiny, with only 2 out of 4 windows staffed, the wait is extra long here as they don't have automatic machines for mailing like so many other PO's nowadays. Now, the redeeming factor is the clerks are polite. But there are not enough of them. Someone in lobby to help people prep for the window would be smart. Someone at this location opened up my Body by Raven's package, took the item inside and taped it back down with scotch tape and delivered it to me as if something was still inside. FIRE REN Ren Muit, the so called "supervisor" did a great display of how incompetent he is. He is known for closing the post office at 430pm. Today he closed at 420pm and had a line of at least 8 people waiting for him to open the door. He came to the door to let us know he was closed and without explanation he shut the door. We waited for him to come back out and when he did he slammed the door again and refused to give us his name to make a complain. Another post office agent was kind enough to let us know who he was. This guy is a joke, goes to show you that anyone with a fraction of a brain can be supervisor. F- for Ren and his TERRIBLE customer service. read more

Made an appt over a month ago to come to this location. However when I had asked if they process passports I was told no. So I called USPS customer service and they said yes. So I made my appointment for a month later for 10am. I get there at 10am I was told she was at lunch and this was by the rude unprofessional store manager. She expressed disconcertment and stated she will be back at 10:45 there's nothing we can do about it! ( well if she was paying attention to the appointments set up she wouldn't be at lunch) so when I went back at 10:45 on the dot and the lady came back at 10:57. Two more people were there that had appointments starting at 10:15 then 10:30. So now there was a line for passports. I'm curious as to why the Store Manager couldn't do this? As a leader you should be able to jump into any situation including this of taking copies and processing the documents?! Instead she walked around looking careless with folks standing around waiting! My husband took our 20 year old grandson to the Lawndale Post Office to get his passport. My husband said the lady who helped them was so-oooo nice and helpful, explained everything to our grandson, highlighted information for him so he could check on it and they were out of there in twenty minutes. Sometimes, they are not nice to me. There are a very particular people that work​ here, they act as if you owe your whole life to them if they process your mail. Instead of addressing to me how I can save money by sending a priority mail or flat rate envelope, they go out of their way to charge me more with a regular envelope with basic shipping time and a tracking number. Shouldn't they advise you on the best way to send important documents? Or are they just looking out for themselves to keep their jobs by charging higher rates? Parking is a nightmare in the front, you should park in the back lot shared with other businesses and do the extra walk. What can I say, it is a post office, don't expect a bathroom at this location! This is a prime example of incompetent, rude, lazy, indifferent public "service". Had a passport appointment; provided cell and email for updates. Arrived 15 minutes early and was told the "agent" was out...in the hospital with COVID. So, if that's the case, why no update? Surly and careless public "servants" wrote an address for a post office in Palos Verdes--10 miles away--and was told it was a "walk-in" passport office. So much for bothering to make an appointment! Wow!!! Just Wow!! My pregnant wife made an appointment to submit forms. She had everything filled out, payment ready, and arrived to the post office 10 min before her appointment. The lady made her wait 40 minutes, and then went on a lunch break. My wife complained to the supervisor, and instead looking after the situation, the supervisor YELLED on my PREGNANT wife and told her to wait. Now she has cramps and pain in stomach!! Waiting after 50 minutes finally someone took documents... nothing against Philippines which seems all the employees are from, but have the decency to do your job properly! I've visited the Lawdale Post Office twice in 5 years. First to obtain a passport and now for a correction (life changing event). Both times I've left beyond satisfied. The employees (then and now) are very helpful and as long as I was able to provide the proper documents (as requested for passports), the employees helped me gather everything and properly package it all in envelope properly. Mary Jo first helped me and explained the process, succinctly. She was very knowledgeable on what is needed and what can be submitted. After I gathered what I needed roughly 5 min later, Wendy helped me make the proper copies, got a money order (yes, they do those too!), and she made sure nothing could be misplaced when the agency recieved the documents. I can't thank the employees (especially Wendy and Mary Jo today) enough at this location for all the assistance. I have already shared this location with my friends or anyone dreading the passport process. read more

We had an appointment today at 1:30pm for our passport application. We already filled out all the paper work, made copies just want to save time and make it simpler for USPS workers because I understand they are always busy. When arriving, we got told to wait for another hour from our appointment, that's fine. We wait, then ended up waiting for another hour, so we waited total of 2 hours and no one from USPS approached or informed us. I had to ask an USPS employee regarding our concern politely. It was surprise that he was really unprofessional, rude, disrespectful, unfriendly, and somehow nasty. He gave us attitude all the time even though we were polite, didn't make a deal of it after waiting that long. Then he recommended me to make another appointment at a different USPS office, not his location so maybe I wouldn't have fo wait 2 hours. On top of that, without giving a helpful resolution, he used his hand to signal us to step aside like the way people would do that to an animal from a circus. Another customer also had to deal him, he was again being disrespectful to her but I think she got his name and number. With so much going at the moment, it is important to me to respect others. But they're keeping call people come until no one .Better no appointments instead make by appointments for nothing. Every time I have gone to this Post Office the employees have been super friendly. Yesterday I came in with a passport question and the lady was super nice and answered my question. Today I returned with an application and supporting documents and Wendy went above and beyond to help me. Although they were just running a few minutes behind, she apologized for the wait and reviewed the application thoroughly. I had no problem waiting when the service I received was that great. Lets face it. The USPS is a broken system. ESPECIALLY during COVID. I DREAD going for just about anything. Recently, I had the hardest time getting our passports processed for our infant and 5 year old. The appointment website is never updated so even if you have an appointment, chances are there will be no one that can assist you. After striking out for the third time at the Hawthorne postal service even while having an appointment, my husband and I decided to try the lawndale post office on a whim without an appointment. I told my husband "all it takes is one kind person to make this happen for us." I literally prayed. PRAYERS ANSWERED! Not sure why this place gets bad reviews- it's a post office. The line moves quickly, especially if everyone has their paperwork filled out correctly. Even if you don't have your forms correct, they'll ask you to step aside and take care of the next person in line and let you cut back in when you're done. The Asian postal worker there is very polite and pleasant to work with. She's very efficient at getting you in and out. Just make sure to have your forms filled out correctly or have the address written down and they'll help fill out our for you. read more

This post office is horrible even if you do have an appointment to get your passport. I went here with an appointment and another customer in front of me had one as well. The clerk told the lady in front of me she had to wait for her to clear the line before she could help her. The manager came out and her attitude was just as bad as her workers. Like they say it starts from the top on how things are being ran. Don't go here for a passport you will just make yourself mad dealing with assholes. Just go to the Usps by the airport. This is the best PO I've ever been to. Everyone is super nice and considerate and knowledgeable. They are thorough and acknowledge you. Any holdups in efficiency is due to customers, but they do not have short tempers or make the customer feel stupid. The main Culver City PO branch (the worst ever) could learn a lot of the staff and management of the Lawndale PO. read more

Hours: 9am-5pm Monday-Friday. For passport (walk in's accepted) starts at 10am however I got a ticket number before 10am. This location does NOT have passport photo taking but you can do it at the Cvs across the street. Tip: avoid long lines during peak hours of 3-5. Workday mornings are the best if you can get an hour off!! Buying stamps took 5 minutes, and my passport took 12 minutes. That's efficient! Parking: tiny 8 space lot in front. I drove straight past it but turned right on Larch st and there was ample street parking. Watch out for Tuesday morning street sweeping hours. Came here for my passport and to buy some stamps. I came here 9:30am on a Wednesday and there was a tiny 2 person line. Mailed my letters and purchased stamps in under 5 minutes. The lady at the stall, (Mary Jo?) Was very friendly and quick. I got my passport ticket number with my stamps and just waited until the 10am passport window open. Passport took 12 minutes to complete and pay for. I expedited it for an extra charge. Bring cash/check/money order. Part of it you can pay for with credit card but the other part I chose to pay with check. If you are applying for the first time bring your original naturalization certificate(they will mail back to you when finished), identification photocopied (I scanned my drivers license) and your fees and completed application as well as one recent passport worthy photo( I did mine at costco). read more

Beware of SCOTT KIM! I've been coming to this post office for a couple of years now to drop packages off and buy stamps etc... I used to drop them at the big parcel window but recently started going to the teller/clerk window to get a printed acceptance receipt so my customers can see proof that their items were shipped and at what time they were shipped. I had no trouble getting a receipt with any of the other tellers until I had the misfortune of getting SCOTT KIM as my teller. He complained about scanning my items because they already had shipping labels attached and would be scanned at a later time. I explained to him that I've had them scanned with a receipt at this location before and why I would appreciate having them scanned with an acceptance receipt. He then proceeded to pretty much call me a liar and said I must have gone somewhere else and refused to take 30 seconds to scan my items and instead argued with me for 10 minutes and called his supervisor who explained that they don't "have to" scan my items. In other words her employee is just lazy and would rather argue with a customer who has been coming here for years rather than take a minute or less to print out a receipt. I also found the supervisor extremely condescending and she did not have the slightest concern about a customer being treated rudely. On top of being called a liar the lazy SCOTT KIM covered his badge when I told him I was going to contact USPS on their customer "satisfaction" (or lack thereof in this case). At the end of the day those two have to work at the post office and are on their merry little way to "going postal" while I get to come home, let other people know how lazy and ridiculous some employees there are and then forget about this crap-hole and continue being awesome. read more
