The worst. Never answer their phones. Don't care at all. Postman are rude, hostile. This place and it's employees act like they are doing us a favor. We work for them. They would read all these bad yelp reviews and laugh. This is the kind of place that gives government agencies a bad name. Right along with it's brethren at the San Clemente DMV. Well, after 20 minutes in line and no sympathy from the one teller they had, the Burnett middle aged woman, I finally was able to send my small package. Instead of offering me some kind words, as customer service people should if customers wait a long time out of the ordinary, I got an attitude. I usually have empathy for understaffed companies and organizations, as I know first hand. But for the US Postal Service in Dana Point, I do not. Get more people to work for you, or at least give some kind/ apologetic words if your customers wait a long time. read more

If I could give this post office zero stars I would. George, one of the workers there was one of the worst people I've ever talked to. It would have been more pleasant talking to a wall. Received the worst service here this morning from an unnecessarily rude and abrasive male employee. Every time I spoke he responded with a loud and curt "what?!" to the point where I had to raise my voice to uncomfortable levels for him to hear me. As I was filling out the address label he kept asking me "are you done yet?," and finally when I asked if I needed a prepaid shipping label for the return envelope I was trying to send, he said "I asked you if you wanted stamp and you said no." Shipping label or stamp? How am I supposed to know which is the correct one to use for a return envelope which is why I asked. I've never been given such grief for a simple transaction before with a mail carrier. You are better off at UPS or the PO in San Juan or literally anywhere else. The level of abrasiveness here was so astounding to me seeing as I would have never thought mailing something could turn into such an unpleasant interaction. read more

May be one of the best POs I've been to. I go here every day to drop off packages. Everyone at this facility is willing to help in good mood. Plenty of parking although it gets a little crowded during the busy time, right before they close at 5:30. read more

Rude and unhappy people! I have gone to SAN Clemente post office for years with no problem. I moved to Dana Point a few months ago & have been to the Dana Point post office at least 10 times. Every time I am treated like I am a horrible pain to them & they just seem to hate their job & just can't stand to wait on people. It's not just me it is the same way they treat everyone! The package box is always full & they really don't like to empty if you ask or take your package. After a dozen times of being treated like this I will be driving all the way back to San Clemente. Dana Point post office employees seem to not realize they are in customer service & begrudge the fact that they are. So sad when they could have a pleasant day with a better attitude towards their fellow man! read more

I love this post office! The staff are friendly and helpful. The line when there is one moves very quickly. I find that the USPS is a great value and mail and packages arrive quickly and reliably. Why pay more for the same services at a privately run store? I don't go anywhere else! read more

The service is mostly good, some workers are better than others, like any post office or business. My comment is about the grounds at the parking lot. the grass is non existent, the area looks like a dust bowl. Dana Point is a beautiful place, where all the business maintain the lawns and shrubbery. PLEASE maintain yours, the place is a disgrace. read more

Not that it should surprise anybody, but the post office is broke because they have no idea how to run a business. It is even worse than that, we aren't customers, they are guaranteed funding even if they fail in all aspects of running a business. The most frustrating thing is the complete incompetence and disregard for the persons time that should be their customer. Don't use this location, they aren't aware of there own procedures, sign in sheets, or the fact that they keep more limiting hours than banks. Here is my story, I arrived at 12:35 for passport services only to be told the clerk had just left for lunch and would be back at 1:45. I made the manager aware I had a meeting this afternoon and would wait if i could get this done in a reasonable time frame upon the clerks return, she assured me I would be taken care of before the passport office closes at 2pm. Quick question, Who opens at 9am and closes at 2pm with a 75 minute lunch? I waited in the parking lot for over an hour and returned exactly on time to find out there was a line of several people ahead of me. Imagine my surprise when I was informed I hadn't signed in on a mythical sheet that nobody told me about, even more pitiful is the fact I was talking with a supervisor. Since I work for a living I asked to speak to a manager to see if she could find a solution, keep in mind the entire staff knew I was there before the people currently in line and waiting in the parking lot. Of course, she had no solution and could care less that I had to return to work and didn't have 30-45 minutes of additional time to wait in a line that I was at the front of before there was a line. The dysfunction of government run business is mind boggling, and there are no alternative options for services, so they never have an incentive to improve. read more

Great experience this morning getting my passport renewed. Had six people in front of me in line so I went down the road to pick up coffee. Came back in 15 minutes and the lady facilitating passports had already gone through the line and had saved my spot! What a treasure. I am writing a new review since my old complaints are too old. I've repeatedly complained to USPS via yelp and other web forms, emails and on line means. NOTHING CHANGES. Last year, the USPS Dana point disengaged the code buttons so you can no longer pick up mail any time at a PO Box or in a key box. According to one of the workers the location had too much vandalism or theft - not fair to those of who may need to pick up mail after hours. That said, I lost my ADA accommodations about 8 years ago when the US post office took out their pull-down numbering system which allows you to take a number and wait where you need to. That system accommodated my physical disability. When I complained, they said that all I had to do was call and I could pick any package up at the door OR flag down a worker behind the counter. Today, I called and there was no answer - it went to VOICE MAIL twice after only three rings with no greeting to ID the Post office. So, went into the main lobby where all the windows were busy. It REEKED in the main lobby (a real nasty people stench - this is MONDAY). I was FIRST in LINE- and after 10 minutes, I talked with Chris who was not sympathetic. I told him THERE IS NO ADA ACCOMMODATION IF YOU DO NOT ANSWER THE PHONE. He said they were busy (NOT AN ANSWER) and he said "he had dealt with me before". He refused to give his last name and told me his supervisor manager is RICK. I just sent a web form to the USPS. This is my fourth or fifth complaint. Maybe I should just find an attorney to sue the US government for no disability accommodations? read more

I own a vacation home and filled out a USPS Internet form to have my mail forwarded to my vacation home from May 11-July 5. I was so impressed that the backward U.S. Postal Service had entered the 21st century. WRONG! I stopped receiving mail a few days ago. The system is not automated. The letter carrier misread the labels he received and started forwarding mail to our vacation home that day. Took me hours to resolve it and my mail is now somewhere in USPS limbo. Had my passport processed today and it was a great experience compared to a nightmare experience at Capo Beach Post Office. I didn't get the lady's name who processed my passport; however, she was professional and pleasant. I got in at 10:30AM on a Monday and I was fortunate to have one person before me. From walking into the door w/complete paperwork in hand, it took less than 25 minutes to process my expired passport. Great job! read more

There is a sign on the letter intake that says "LETTERS AND LARGE ENVELOPES GO HERE", while the intake below states it is for packages only. The intake slot for the Letters/Large Envelopes is only 1/2" wide (I brought in a tape measure, see pictures), while the max thickness for Large Letters is 3/4", as clearly stated on usps.com. I had already measured and weighed my large letter (11"x9"x5/8") and applied the correct postage. I did not want to risk placing my item in the wrong receptacle given this post office's reputation & track record, so I had to go inside and stand in line for 15 minutes to hand off my large letter to an employee, only to have the lady argue with me that my item did not fit because it was not a letter but a package and I needed to pay more postage. I took my item and left, and walked it in to my home postoffice in Laguna Beach where it was confirmed correct dimensions & postage and accepted no problem. This place is a waste of your time. read more

Wow, what an awful experience. I had to get a passport expedited, for I was leaving on vacation in a week. I visited the passport office inside of USPS, and had a blonde haired middle aged woman help me. I did not qualify for renewal, since my previous passport had been obtained before I was 16, so I had to apply for a brand new one. I had all of the documentation filled out (provided to me by the passport agency that was expediting the passport), along with 6 forms of Identification and my birth certificate. I did not have a current California license because my wallet had been stolen two weeks prior, and my appointment for a new license was 6 weeks away. Since I did not have my current ID, I had to provide at least 5 documents proving I was who I said I was. The lady insisted that I did not need everything I had brought, including the birth certificate. She swears me in and officially seals all of the documents. I bring it to a mail service center that then sends it to the passport agency. The passport agency contacts the mail service center immediately saying that not enough documentation was provided. Not only was I panicking because it is now Wednesday and my trip is the following Monday, but I also could not leave work to get the documents to the mail service center in time to have them scan and email documents. Luckily, the mail service center (aim mail center #19) saved the day by actually having one of their employees drive to me immediately in order to scan and email the documents to the passport agency. Hopefully my passport will get here by Saturday so that I may have a worry-free rest of the weekend before my trip. If I ever need a passport renewed, I will never be going to the USPS off of Del Prado, and recommend that others follow my lead! Find a passport office that has knowledgeable people that don't have to open the text book to figure out what I need to send, and find a place that know what they are doing! read more

I think this office has come a long way in their customer service. When I first moved here they never answered their phone and the lines were long and slow. I don't have to deal with the postal service very often but the couple of times in the last couple of years I have needed them, they have been responsive and helpful, like today! read more

I badly mislabeled a 2 day delivery to an addressee in Dana Point. The tracking revealed that it was undeliverable as addressed and was being returned. I immediately telephoned the Dana Point CA Post Office and spoke to Rosemary. She took my complete and proper addressing information plus telephone numbers of both myself and the addressee. Ten minutes later, she called me back to say that she had tracked it down and corrected the bad addressing. She said that it will be delivered either on the promised day or on the following day. The worst post office I have ever seen. It's absolutely unbelievable how incompetent these people are. I applied for a passport for my infant and they took a bad picture. You would think the post office would be able to follow their own regulations to produce an appropriate picture. On top of that after they apologised and took a new picture, and assured me they would have the passport expedited, they sent it in under normal urgency and 3 weeks later(they assured no longer than a week) when I was supposed to fly out of the country I still didn't have the passport. I had to cancel my flight for a fee which they would not help with...and on top of it they still haven't managed to get me the passport i am still waiting. read more
