A post office in Dana Point California means palm trees all around, a nice private parking lot with 12 spaces, a huge spotless lobby with plenty of counters to pack, repack and fill out forms, a great pets allowed policy allowing seniors to bring in their adorable puppies and the best employees including the stellar Desiree who was calm, quick, alert, thorough, polite and offered me all options (not just the most expensive ones) to mail the packages to New York. I needed padded mailers in two sizes and they had ample supplies plus funny greeting cards to make you smile and laugh as you wait. This was a great experience. I don't know what it is but this location specifically really smells like chemicals or plastic. Today I walked in and it hit me immediately as I walked in the door. This location has a pretty small parking area, but there's usually open spots. One thing I do really enjoy is that this location is pretty big and I love all the self service options. read more

Rudest experience ever. Went in to drop off a package but wanted to hand it to somebody to make sure I was had everything correct as I rarely ship. I was first in line and one other gentlemen behind me. Worst customer service I've ever experienced. Honestly, I'd understand if I was being rude, but I greeted the worker with a smile and asked how he was and he ignored me and asked what I needed. I was shipping something and he started checking me out and I accidentally pressed the wrong button on the machine and he threw his hands up and exasperatedly said "now I have to start all over again! Oh my god." (It was literally a 5 second redo) And I apologized profusely. Then I paid in cash and he was so annoyed with me and said "cash?? Well, do have exact change, ha, I don't know what you want me to do about this. God, you people." And I just froze because he was so extremely rude. Then he sarcastically says "have a nice day, sorry for the wait everybody!" And I left in tears. We all work jobs, some like theirs and others don't. To decided to verbally abuse a female customer right at the start or your shift or after your break is crazy. There is no excuse for being blatantly rude. Waited in line for 15 minutes and had everything ready for certified mail. Was asked to step aside and let others go ahead of me. Waited another 20 minutes when the job should have taken 10 minutes to complete. They are trying but either increase price and staff appropriately or put another system in place. read more

I love this post office. Clean, spacious, line is minimal and never run out of packing materials at auto shipping center (flat rate envelop, box, mailer...etc) The collect box near auto shipping center rarely jammed (prolly only like 1 out of 50 times, in Garden Grove the boxed jammed rate is 50% after hours!!!!). People who work here are extremely nice and willing to put extra effort for their customers. I had multiple times they took my bag of packages to drop in the back instead I just leave them at the counter or drop box. Always efficient service, even though due to the demographic of DP, people needs extra assistant in shipping packages or letters. But most of the time there were always more than 2 staffs and line never get too long. Most parcels you sent out in the morning can already be tracked online in the evening while other locations usually take more than 1.5 day to have tracking updated to the website. Parking is small but never had problem finding a space. Prolly the only thing I like about DP is the POST OFFICE. read more

Chris abrupt yelling at you when ever he feels like it. acts like your bothering him when you call.. lazy does not want to help in any way. The Dana Point post office have a bunch of thieves working for them. I have repeatedly gotten tracking numbers that say "left at front door, delivered". This has happened over and over again. I am going to call the police. What is the difference between someone coming to your home and stealing, or taking things off of your property; or keeping the mail for themselves! I'm a business owner here in Dana Point and have not been able to access my mail from my mailbox since I moved in. I have requested a lock change now for the 3rd time. I dont understand what the issue is but when I brought them in the first time complaining about them not working, I was told that the carrier went out and changed them, and I again told them they do not work. This entire transaction was full of attitude from the manager, like I'm clearly a bother and I must be wrong and wasting his time. So they claimed they sent out another work order. So then I pick them up today (mind you this has already been a month process) and go straight to work to check. They dont work AGAIN! This time I took a video because, frankly, they act as if I enjoy wasting my time and theirs to come in and complain about the stupid keys not working. I went straight back to the post office, obviously upset. Again, the manager was rude stating that the carrier has now gone out 2 times and changed it. Even with the video proof of the keys NOT working they are claiming the job has been done?! I am very capable of working a key into a lock, thank you, and the fact that they rather treat me like a nuisance or an annoyance then look at the proof I am LITERALLY SHOWING YOU and solve the problem has me at a complete loss. Even writing this I still have no idea how I am going to get access to my mail instead of having to put it on vacation hold every month. I left the keys for the 3rd time. I am updating my review and lowering my rating from four stars for two reasons. I honestly believe that reading is not a requirement if you want a job as a postal carrier for this area. 1. On two occasions, I placed a one week mail hold. I added in my instructions that the post office is not to deliver my accumulated mail and I will pick it up from the post office. Well guess what happened? My mail continued being delivered while I was gone. Imagine my surprise when I thought I would check my mailbox and found it full of mail. I went to the post office to see if any mail was held. Nope, it was ALL DELIVERED!!! What is the purpose of a mail hold then??? 2. Lately I have been receiving someone's mail. Our names look similar but this other person lives a few blocks away. I placed this person's mail in my mailbox with a note to the mail carrier that the mail doesn't belong to me. The carrier picked it up but delivered it back to me a few days later! THREE TIMES!!! And it's not like one piece of mail. It's a stack of mail! If these issues continue then I will definitely be contacting their customer service number. Geez, no wonder the post office is having financial difficulties. read more

The wait is always long even with short lines due to slow staff response! They are lazy, unfriendly and totally unhelpful. I have a camera on my door and I caught one of the employees for this USPS throwing packages to the ground like it was nothing. He looked annoyed and clearly had no concern for what was in the packages. I was shocked when I saw the footage and will happily provide it to the business if they would like to review it. I think this post office is the best! The people working behind the counter are smart, fast, friendly and helpful. Yes there is usually a line but it always moves quickly. I have forgotten tape before and they have offered me some. I'll ask for fastest or least expensive box or envelope to use and the are quick to give me the best option. 5-stars are deserved! read more

A woman was outside video taping patrons coming and going into the post office. Unbeknownst to me I had no clue why there was a person video recoding could have been for the post office until i walked out and asked nicely why she was taping me. I can't recall exactly what she said but she basically said it was her 1st amendment right, it was government property, there were other cameras located around the area taking video of me and it was her right. I then said I didn't give her permission to video me or to use this video she said it was government property (it's federal) and I said gosh did I do something? I'm not trying to cause issues she said well your speaking with me said it was game on for her. I said but I told you i don't give you permission she again something sorry not by verbatim but she could it's public property. I clearly was confused. I asked her where the video would be aired she said I can't tell you. I said who are you with she said some type of press. I did tell her I wasn't trying to cause issue and I remained calm or I think I was cuz I was confused. I said to her did I do something to you cuz I felt violated. I decided to go inside to get answers and the post man just shrugged it off like it's public property and she can video. I guess what would have been nice is a heads up from my local city post man to tell me yea just avoid her instead he said it will be aired on the internet. No compassion or concern for his customers. He was more annoyed I was wasting time. Gosh Dana has gone down hill not looking out for us. I guess asking questions makes us dumb in a society filled with unhappy people. Tran Nguyen the most rudest lady I have ever met at a post office . I went to go pick up my mail and she proceeded to tell me she had nothing , which I told her that was inaccurate because I had spoken to a representative that morning about the location of my mail and they had confirmed that it was in that location. At that point she looked irritated that she had to go back and look for it . When she finally came back to give it to me she started arguing with me how I had a tone in my voice and that she didn't like my tone of voice when before I even stepped up she was already with this negative attitude with the person before me... They are the worst. They've always been lazy. But lately they've been misspelling my street name. I called national headquarters and they said it has to be corrected in dana Point office. I knew that would be a joke. I came in and got Lisa. She tried to give me brush off by saying they didn't do it. I told her the national office said they did. She said I had to talk to postmaster. She said he's on the phone though. I said I'd wait. She said could be hours. I said I'd wait. She took my name in case I left and told me wait in lobby. I've been here about 1/2 hour. 92624 postman Braden is rude most often. He passes my mailbox often with no delivery because a truck is parked near and yet not in front of my mailbox. He yelled at me as if it were my fault and I have a note on my mailbox to NOT PARK THERE. There is nothing else I can do to stop anyone from parking there. My stop is 2 stops short of the corner of Estrella/Del Mar where Branden turns off his truck to chat most days for approx. 1/2 hour and then passes me by because he is too lazy to get out of his truck. Every time I drive out I see his truck stopped at others to chat. It is no wonder our mail is delivered after 4pm and as late as 6pm if at all. Always avoid staff because they are so rude!! Self kiosk is the way to go. Had 5 packages with tracking # not ship until 3 days after I dropped them off. To avoid this situation the next time I had to brace myself and talk to the customer service.
