Packages and mail are frequently either lost, mishandled, or late. A very minimum amount of effort is made by the drivers. There are a couple of good people who attend the desk otherwise. The hours are terrible, they aren't open on the weekends and they close at 4 PM on weekdays. They are also closed randomly throughout the day for various reasons and there's no way to predict when. When I find out an Amazon package is coming through USPS versus FedEx or UPS I get a dreadful feeling because I know it will be a pain one way or another to just get my package. read more

This is the worst customer service in the entire USPS system I have experienced to date. I sent a registered mail letter over a month ago from the Boulder Creek, CA post office and upon checking the status recently online(the USPS tracking system states my letter is moving through the system and is going to deliver late). I was told by the Boulder Creek, CA post office staff my letter disappeared into the "ether". I was told to go online to contact the receiving post office, by the staff to locate the lost letter. Upon going to the USPS web site, the web site lacks any information to help locate the lost mail efficiently. After spending 1-2 hours unsuccessfully making attempts to locate the lost mail, I gave up. The following day I was near the Scotts Valley post office and inquired about a refund for the failed services of USPS. The staff directed me back to the Boulder Creek post office, where I originally sent the letter, for a refund. Upon requesting a refund, I was informed USPS does not give refunds for certified mail services, by the USPS manager. There is no USPS posted signage, or printed on the receipt, as to any refund policies are in effect at USPS. I was told by the Boulder Creek, CA manager to call the 800 number listed on the receipt for help. Upon calling I was told by the automated system, my expected wait time to speak to a live representative was 5 hrs and 20 minutes to 28 hrs. Hard to believe such a system can exist. But the nice thing about the automated phone system, I was given the option as to which type of music I would like to listen to while I waited on hold. Quite the RIP OFF!!! USPS loses the certified mail, and refuses to refund the costs. If I were you, I would avoid this USPS post office at all costs. I know I will. read more

They did not deliver our mail for several weeks, including prescription medications that were sent back to the pharmacy, for no reason. The person at the post office just shrugged. We get nothing but "delivery attempted" notices on 99% of orders when we have cameras at the mailboxes & can clearly see no attempts from carriers were ever made for any of these multiple "delivery attempts" just lazy! Even requesting redelivery is a joke as they'll just let your packages sit at the post office for weeks & make no attempt to redeliver. The carrier said they attempted to deliver a packge but said they couldn't because my driveway was obstructed. My driveway is not obstructed, so I don't see any reason why they said it was. They tried the next day, but instead of delivering it, they put a notice in my mailbox to either reschedule the delivery or to pick it up. I rescheduled the delivery, letting them know that my driveway wasn't obstructed, and they still didn't deliver it. The house next door has an obstructed driveway, so they must have thought that that was my house, even though my street number is clearly posted on one of my gate posts. This has never happened before, so it may be that they had a new carrier who wasn't paying attention to make sure they were delivering it to the right address. read more

Rating is a ZERO - Package said out for delivery this morning. They never delivered. I looked it up online and they have it listed as "customer requested hold" which is a lie. That is a medical device we needed today and I was home every minute. I am very angry but of course, no one answers the phone. They close at 4. I had no choice for usps versus fedex or other. We need his so my wife can breath while she sleeps....but of course, usps doesn't care. I am on 45 min estimated hold on main number where I am sure I will get a person who knows nothing. I just found a post office notice in my mailbox for a package not delivered because I wasn't at home. Lies. I was at home working all day, barely moved from my chair. The box showing when it can be picked up from the post office stated NOW. So if it was located at the post office when the notice was delivered, how did they attempt to deliver the package? One day my mother was at the mailbox when the postal worker arrived and HANDED her a pre-written package notice. When my mother asked where is the package the answer was "at the post office". No explanation or apology. The package contained medication. I just have a question: how many of you can display such conduct at work and still have a job? Only at USPS. read more

The post master Bruce Parker makes getting your mail quite literally impossible. He instructs drivers to not deliver to my address. I have to go get packages but that is literally impossible since it's during normal peoples working hours. There is no Saturday pickup which is not good. I have made over 8 complaints with no change. This is by far the worst post office I have ever dealt with. Guys do your job and deliver the packages. Biased on the reviews I'm not the only one having this issue. The Boulder Creek mail delivery girls just hurl packages over the fence. I just watched one again today toss a box over in front of me! I have had ordered items damaged because of it. It was an antique and it was damaged consequently. I asked one girl to please place this in our large post box, and she refused. The postal workers consistently meet or exceed my expectations. The ones that are not as warm make up for it in expedience. I do not generally walk into a post office with high expectations for professional friendliness or fast service, so to have either or both makes my weekly trip to the post office a happy errand rather than one to dread. Packages are undeliverable to my home. Pickup Service hours (going to the window by the PO boxes to pick up packages sent to me) makes it all work out just fine. Some planning is required but it's doable. I have normal job hours (it does seem true that not everyone in SLV does, ha ha) and learned about the Pickup Service hours through inquiring at the post office retail counter, and was also informed of hours on the phone while asking them to hold onto an international letter (not return it to sender). When in doubt, call them on the phone in case the website is not up to date. It's a small town post office and my experiences here have included small town recognition and friendliness. I have no real complaints but would like it if they could have earlier and later retail hours at least one day a week, and preferably not the same day. 4 stars, I have positive feelings toward this post office, it's not a 5-star establishment and was not designed to be. If there was a contest for the work postal workers in the whole united states, I am fairly confident the Boulder Creek Post office would take the crown every year for all of eternity. This place is so awful that I went out of my way to add it to Yelp so that I could leave a review. Don't get me wrong, I never expect much in terms of customer service from the USPS, but this place sets the bar at a whole new level of low. The facility is okay. It's big and has a lot of PO Boxes that you can rent. Located in the heart of Boulder Creek, CA behind Johnnies Grocery Store and the local bank right off Hwy 9 and 236. It's easy to get in and out of, and has a large parking lot for SLV and Boulder Creek standards. The facility itself is not what is the cause of this abysmal review, its the employees. First off, if you are coming in here and need to do anything that involves interacting with a human (ie - shipping a package, buying stamps, picking up a package, ect) you better plan to be here a while. Pack a lunch, bring some water, something to read, and a lawn chair because you are going to be here FOR-EV-ER!!! There is always a line, the place is always terribly understaffed, and the line moves at a snails pace because NO ONE KNOWS WTF THEY ARE DOING. I'm not just saying that to be snarky; literally no one has any clue how to answer even the most simple of questions. If you need something beyond the basic "I'd like to ship this package here" or "I need to buy a book of stamps" then prepare for a look of confusion mixed with disdain that you have the audacity to ask the postal worker to *gasp* do their darn job. Live in Boulder Creek? Have a normal day job? (Trust me, that is the exception, not the rule in the SLV) Oh well then you are SCREWED if you ever receive a package that doesn't fit in your mail box. When you get home and find the "Sorry we missed you...come pick up your package" slip of paper in the mailbox, it can make any day go from gleeful to just about the worst day of your life. This location has the worst hours ever. No weekend hours. I FINALLY discovered that you actually can come in and pick up your packages on Saturday during limited hours. There is no sign posted of the hours, and no one is in the main lobby to help you. There is nothing on the slip of paper to tell you Saturday pick up is available either. Somehow, you should *magically* know that there is someone working in the mail sorting in the back and if you come to the package pick up door and ring the bell and/or knock loudly, then HOPEFULLY someone will poke their head thru the door and retrieve your package for you. For the love of God, do NOT FORGET THE SLIP OF PAPER and BRING YOUR ID. They can be total sticklers on this one day, and then not ask for anything the next time you come in. I got so sick of the horrible service here, that I switch my PO Box to Saratoga, CA, which is close to where I work. That location is still sucky, but miles ahead of Boulder Creek. After switching the PO Box, I forwarded my mail and canceled the box at Boulder Creek. For MONTHS, my mail kept getting lost or sent back to the sender, or forwarded and held at some regional postal center in Sacramento. Basically if I received something there in Boulder Creek and I did actually get it in Saratoga, it would take 2-3 times longer to receive bc it would go to Boulder Creek, then to Sacramento, then to Saratoga. On one occasion, I received a package at Boulder Creek, and instead of forwarding it, they just kept it there and didn't tell me about it in any way. I had to do a TON of detective work to track down the package, and call the Boulder Creek post office 3 different times to ask them to look for the package. Each time they told me they'd call back....and each time they failed. USPS has a policy if you cancel your PO Box within the first 3 months for a 6 month rental, you are entitled to get 1/2 your money back. When I canceled the box, I did not receive a refund. I called the Boulder Creek post office to inquire about my refund. They were perplexed and unaware of the refund policy. They tried to deny I was eligible (I had canceled within the first MONTH). I spent time on the phone with the post master twice, who stated that he'd have to "do some research and get back to me". The policy is clearly stated on the USPS website! Finally, after spending more hours of my life than it was worth, I was able to get my measly refund. Victory! Yeah freaking right. I'm just lucky to have gotten out with my life... To be fair, the Post Master was EXTREMELY nice and understanding of my frustration of the problems I had thus far, but seemed somewhat apathetic. I am pretty sure the poor guy must be frustrated too from having to deal with rude and inept employees. read more

"Sorry we missed you" my ass. Today, I waited at home all day for a package. Tracking told me that it was out for delivery in Boulder Creek, and it was a gift for a friend, tonight. I waited, and when I heard the knock at my door, I jumped up from my couch to answer... In time to see the postal worker go running from my door. I opened it, and what was sitting there? That stupid slip of paper telling me to go pick up the package after 4pm. I watched as she took off, and realized she hadn't even had the package in her hand when she knocked. There was no intent to deliver to me. She'd prewritten the note and dropped it off, even though I opened the door within seconds of her knock. What the hell is that? I called the post office, and the man who answered said he would "talk to her about it" and that she was running late so my package would probably not be available for pick up until the next day. I can't remember exactly when, but around a year and a half ago, the Boulder Creek post office lost a longtime worker (can't remember his name, but he was African American, a contrast to the otherwise white staff) who was always friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. Since then it's been pretty lousy service. My main gripe is that there have been MANY times I've been home or standing quite visibly in my driveway and the postal worker has left the 'you weren't home' package slip in my mailbox. Every Monday I have a package I have to send. Kate and the rest of the staff is incredible. They get my packages where they need to be and even showed me their local mail service which reduced the flat rate of $14.60 or so to less then $8. Plus I get free boxes! They are nice and friendly. This is the WORST post office I've ever dealt with. The "manager" is extremely rude and doesn't care to do his job, he always makes things way more difficult than required. I've had to file multiple complaints with the Corp office, and still nothing changes. They put the wrong mail in our box constantly then complain and hold our mail if anything is slightly mispelled. We keep returning the mail with "NOT AT THIS ADDRESS" written on it, and they STILL put it back in our box! how dense can one be?? They hardly meet their "deadline" for all mail to be distributed to boxes, I often have to make 2 trips to get all my mail. They dont even knock on our door when delivering packages, they either dump halfway up the driveway or just leave a "Sorry we missed you" note when someone is always home. I've lived here since 1993. This is by far the best US Post Office I've ever utilized. Yes, it is small. Years ago there was a cut back in staff. On any day at any time I can walk in and there is no line. Other days the line is long. Is this the fault of the USPS? No. There are times when I feel things are moving slowly but the reality is that i'm in a hurry and didn't allow enough time in case there were others in line ahead of me. Is that the fault of the USPS? No. When my turn comes i'm always treated courteously. I love the USPS in general but I definitely think "our" Boulder Creek Post Office is the best! read more

The sub did not pick up our mail on Saturday 7/20/18 and what there is a sub they mix up all the mail and delivered to the wrong address. Locals tend to give businesses many chances before refusing to go back, and the businesses we rely on, like the gas station and post office, get even more. Thankfully, the post office has improved its service in the last year and I now get packages delivered to my mailbox and front door like it was way back in 2010. I haven't seen the woman recently who used to deliver the "sorry I missed you" slips instead of my packages; I now have a new driver on my route. I don't normally review post offices, but this is the worst. They are negligent, incompetant, rude, and have probably been at times the ones stealing from my mail. I seriously am not expecting much, but they seem to think that they bear no responsibility for making sure mail I pay to track gets delivered or that mail sent to me gets received. I just wanted to check the hours and saw all these negative reviews. The one where they have cars blocking the mail box and the person expects special treatment was really over the top for obnoxious. We have lived here for 39 years and have never had a problem. We ship and receive a lot of packages - no problem. They have always been friendly and helpful. Of course I don't park my car in front of my mail box or demand that they open when I get off work. BTW, they are open on Saturday morning for package pickup and I don't know of a post office in the U.S. that stays open late. This post office don't deliver packages to my house. I'm never getting the service I'm paying for when I pay for any kind of shipping service (such as Priority Mail). The employees are generally friendly and capable. But why should FedEx or UPS be vastly better than the Postal Service? If this were a normal business, it would have gone under a long time ago. This is the difference between government and free market competition. We are paying their salaries and paying for their services and they don't deliver and their service sucks (in many cases). They usually only have one person at the counter and a long line. So if you go in to pick up a package because they don't deliver, you wind up having to wait in line for 5 to 20 minutes. If they had at least 2 people at the counter at all times (or when a line developed) I would rate them higher. You would think that the best post offices would be in small towns. There probably isn't a good post office in America. *7/17/18 - REVSION. After many years of dealing with the non-delivery issue (to my house). I filed a complaint on the USPS website, because some of my packages had been returned to sender. A day or two later, I received a call from the manager, and he/they resolved the issue to my satisfaction. I got home from work today and had a email conformation that a package was delivered but it's no where to be found, I just spoke with someone on the phone at the post office and she is going to try to get a hold of the carrier to find out where they left it. I'm sure it was left at someone else's house by mistake, I just hope the carrier remembers where they left it and can get it back. Also at least twice a month or more I get other peoples mail in my mailbox and I'm sure the mail I was supposed to receive that day has gone to someone else. It not only happens at my home address but also in my PO Box, I just hope the person who gets my mail by mistake is honest and returns it to the post office like I do. read more
