I had a car full of bags of extra garbage - about 10 bags. The cost depends on the weight. The price sheet is listed on their website https://cdi.santacruzcountyca.gov/. The transfer station was easy to find with good signs that lead you the way. When you arrive, you drive up to the cashier where your load is measured for weight. They ask you where you are coming from, and ask what you are dumping. There is an extra charge for garbage coming from out of County. Depending on what you are throwing away, they have lines painted on the ground that you follow. The cashier is very helpful and tells you. For garbage, you just back in and dump your garbage over the rail. There is a little bit of garbage smell, but not too overwhelming. read more

It's a dump, but it's supposed to be. Convenient if you live in this part of the county. Line can be long to pay/get weighed. Workers are courteous but sometimes seem to have a lack of urgency they might have if not employed by the government. You can bypass the line of you are only going to the CRV redemption center. CRV redemption is going away 7/1/2025 as the state is now forcing stores to take back containers. read more

I was COMPLETELY ripped off today by the recycling center. I went there 8 months ago, and brought a load half as big ( same items) and got 350$. I go today with a load over two times the size as last, with the SAME items, and get 168. They put the TARE weight as 111, and the net as 58. The Tare is never more than the actual weight. There was like 5 people there, and they weren't weighing correctly, obviously mixing up who had what. Talked to the guy , he said it was correct. When he barely glanced at it. How could tare weight be more than the actual weight of the recycling?! That shows right there it's wrong. UGH. I just hate being ripped off! I'll never go there again read more

Honestly the cleanest and most organized dump I've ever seen! I see folks complaining that they fine uncovered loads and inspect each load, but good for them! They run a type ship and we should all be grateful as you drive through a lovely residential neighborhood on the way in and out. You'd never know there's a dump there!! Oh...and they have such a cute little flower garden to enjoy while you patiently wait in line! read more

The Ben Lomond Transfer station is a clean, well run organization. Everyone is helpful and friendly and you can bring your recycles for a cash voucher you can redeem at Safeway (we all need food) or you can just donate them to the station. They also have an area where you can purchase items that are being tossed but still have value. I have found that they almost always have something interesting in this pile. You can also drive to the top and purchase mulch. It had an odor (kind of like a dump, swampy smell) but that odor left after about a week. You can bring wood trimmings, yard waste to this upper level and dispose of it and it will be turned into chips or mulch or compost. Regulars to the dump know that you should bring gloves and a broom. Wear closed toe shoes that can get dirty and when you are done, you can wash your hands at the sink by the recycle station. They also take paint and other items like that, but call first for the proper days to drop these off. read more

I agree mostly with the other review, clean, friendly, well run. The resale area is no longer operating. It is a bit of a circus to figure out the various stations the first time. The hours are a little on the early side especially since they are no longer open on Sunday. I really do not see any reason why at least the recycle bins could not be made available for longer hours, and 7 days a week. read more
