Came here after a workout when I was in the Burbank area. I placed the order online and it was ready quickly. The restaurant makes it easy to find your order and is so neat and organized. The tables looked clean and chairs looked comfy but I ended up taking my order to go. I wanted something healthy and thankfully they have a few vegan options here. I opted for the Mediterranean bowl which came with an optional side of focaccia bread. The bowl was wonderful and just what I needed to have a healthy start to the day and get some plant protein into my diet. I loved the mixture of rice, sweet potatos, kale, cucumbers and tomatoes and everything tasted so fresh. I particularly loved the kale and how the marinade used ensured it wasn't bitter. The standout was the creamy and savory hummus which worked so well with the veggies and rice. I also love the thick bread and it was great to dip in the hummus. Super friendly staff as soon as you walk in (I didn't get her name but the cashier was so nice). Very clean and quiet inside with an outdoor patio outside. They have watermelon lemonade, dragonfruit agua fresca, and old fashioned lemonade on tap as well as craft sodas and Coke/Diet Coke as drink options. I mainly wanted to write this review because I don't know what magic they do in the kitchen but this is seriously the most delicious kale I've ever eaten. I got the salmon bowl and although they only give you a small portion of kale, it's like...perfectly seasoned/dressed. I don't know if I've ever described kale like this before, but wow. Sooo good. Salmon was good too and I liked the blend of edamame, sweet potato, and THE KALE. We ordered Uber eats and it got to us in a timely manner. My only problem is that we had an order of 12, and we only received 10 orders. So two people were without lunches today! I ordered 2 sandwiches on the app at 12:33 PM and was quoted a pick-up time of 12:50 PM. I arrived at 12:55 PM and my order wasn't ready. The store was extremely busy and the staff seemed to be trying to keep up, but at 1:02 PM, I finally asked what was going on with my order? It was so far back in the queue that it too time to locate it and I was told that it would be a little longer. Sarah offered me a drink and a cookie while I waited, but I didn't want either, I just needed the sandwiches to get back to the office. She told me it would be another 20 minutes, at least! WHAT!? She told me that corporate had sent out a special for free delivery and they hadn't communicated it to the store, so staffing wasn't prepared for the onslaught. Are you kidding me!? Shouldn't the system on the app take into consideration how many orders are ahead of me in the queue before they quote me a pick-up time?? I could have decided that an hour was too long a wait for me today and gone somewhere else. That is what I decided to do, and Sarah told me that she'd cancel my order. SO, I wasted nearly 40 minutes waiting on an order and still didn't get it. I ended up going to another place for lunch, saved money, and was back in the office 5 minutes after Sarah's adjusted time of "20 more minutes, at least," so I guess there was a silver lining, of sorts. Just the same, this was extremely frustrating and it's yet another issue in a store with many. The food is usually so good, but the inconsistency in service makes me a little nuts. Why doesn't the app just adjust the time as the orders build up? I mean, it changed from 12:49 to 12:50 in the time between when I placed the order and paid with my card, and then asked if I would accept the new time!? How does it not know that there are 50 orders before mine and the store cannot fulfill the promised time? read more

Today I tried this Cafe for the first time. It was AMAZING!! I had a kitchen flood 7 weeks ago & it's demolished. Insurance pays for my meals. They have to be from a restaurant, no groceries. I definitely live in an area with so many places to choose from. Finding places like the Urbane Cafe is very cool. The sandwich I ordered was the Cran-brie. Absolutely delish!! Thanks to a Yelp event I was introduced to Urbane Café. It was their delicious food and excellent customer service that brought me back. This time I took a friend along so she could also discover how fantastic this place is. Urbane Café focuses on serving healthy, affordable gourmet fare. Everything is made fresh daily using locally sourced ingredients. Even the focaccia bread, which is baked on site and used for the sandwiches. They offer a great selection of sandwiches, salads, soup, bowls, & cookies and even have a kid's menu and vegan options. I selected The Ahi salad - sashimi grade seared ahi, mixed greens, shredded cabbage, avocado, feta cheese, edamame, cucumbers, radishes, grape tomatoes, with a Japanese chili dressing. All salads come with freshly baked focaccia on the side. The salad was amazing! A wonderful combination of flavors and textures. The Ahi was definitely top notch, the focaccia was soft & fluffy, and the Japanese chili dressing was bomb! My friend ordered the Santa Maria BBQ Chicken Salad, which contained roasted BBQ chicken, chopped salad mix, coleslaw, Applewood-smoked bacon, crumbled goat cheese, corn & black bean salsa, grape tomatoes, a blackberry BBQ sauce drizzle and served with chipotle ranch dressing. She absolutely loved it. We each got a lemonade - the Old Fashion & Watermelon. They were both tasty & refreshing. My favorite was the watermelon. You could tell it was fresh watermelon juice. Add some tequila and you have the perfect margarita. We ordered some cookies for dessert: Lemon, Double Chocolate, Cranberry White Chocolate Chip & Chocolate Chip. I love Urbane Cafe for their great tasting food and atmosphere, but there's a couple reasons in particular that bring me back to this location time and time again. The first being the customer service, it's phenomenal. Everyone I interacted with at the restaurant was pleasant, patient, and offered service with a smile. They took into consideration the dietary restrictions of myself and my partner, and were genuinely concerned with making sure I got the best experience. The second is the speed of service. Not more than five minutes had passed from the time I made my order to when I received it. I was shocked! I've been coming to this Urbane Cafe for a while. It would be easy for the employees to take my patronage for granted and not make that "extra effort" because they know me and figure that they should put their energy into attracting new customers or "non-regulars". This has not been the case. The friendliness, care, and quality of service that I experience nowadays is just as great, if not even better than when I first started coming to this location. (The food quality/taste/healthfulness is terrific!). They don't take my business for granted. Recently when I came in for a meal, an employee named Sarah told me that an item I used to have fairly often, the "Baja Bowl" had been modified. When I ordered it in the past, I had them put in roasted chicken instead of spicy chicken. Well Sarah, the employee, remembered that I used to order the Baja Bowl with roasted chicken and told me the restaurant's now serves it with roasted chicken instead of spicy chicken. The fact that she remembered that I used to order it with roasted chicken and that now the new version contains roasted chicken instead of spicy chicken demonstrated how much attention the employees pay to their customers. After she told me that, I made a point to come in today and order it. (Prior to today, I hadn't ordered it for a month or two. I loved it and will put it back in my rotation of favorites! This place is extremely well managed and they do a great job training their employees to make sure the needs of the customer is the first priority. I've been here twice, and disappointed both times. The first time, I went to the shop, placed my to-go order, and waited. There was no one ahead of me, and two men behind me. The two men behind me got their meals before I did. I'm still waiting. 5 minutes turned into 10 minutes. Finally, the woman who was bringing the food out brought out my order and said, "I didn't know this was yours." No apology. No acknowledgment that she served two people in line after me while I waited patiently. I decided to give them another chance. The second time, my order was placed online. I ordered two sandwich plates, a kid's meal, and 3 cookies. When the order was delivered, one of the cookies was missing. When I called to report it, the person who answered the phone stopped just short of calling me a liar. They never refunded my money, and never offered to deliver the missing cookie. Mistakes are one thing; charging someone for a product you don't deliver is another. I should have listened to Maya Angelou. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. read more

I walked in to get my sandwich. As soon as he sat it on my table, I touched it and it was cold. I immediately took the tray inside and told the cashier. He touched it himself and agreed it was cold. The cashier was polite and offered to remake it. However, when I asked the cook David, what happened he denied that it was cold or that anything was wrong. I asked him to touch it himself and he refused. If he would have simply apologized and explained what happened. I would have accepted that. But he doubled down on his disrespect and attempted to gaslight me as if there was nothing wrong. I received a refund but only partial they still charged me for the chips and drink. Again, his name is David. And he is extremely rude and has no regard for customers. I'm not even worried about myself. I'm worried about other customers who aren't as vocal or who may order to go and have the same experience. Whether or not I will continue to eat here is going to be predicated on how corporate handles the situation with David. I refuse to eat here if that type of behavior is condoned. Cold sandwiches and disrespect are not something I will be spending my hard earned dollars on. read more

Recently open in the Burbank area. Urbane Cafe serves up comfort and health food options from salads, warm bowls, sandwiches and soups. A similar concept to Panera Bread however the food taste much more from scratch and not processed. I got the Turkey Cranberry Brie Sandwich with a side cup of chicken poblano soup. The sandwich was a delight to eat. The bread soft to the touch, the amount of turkey is reasonable however perfect amount and the it had cranberry sauce, Brie and a bit of spring mix. Might be my go to sandwich at Urban Cafe. I was glad that the soup kinda tasted homemade but I'm not really sure about that. The chicken in the soup tasted natural and not process. I did love the that. I tried the tomato soup and I felt that was a better option to complement my sandwich. The cranberry cookie was great but I'm not sure about it tho. I can give it a good pass. Ordered a side bread which I think I didn't need to but it came with 1 dipping sauce but I ordered two. The hummus was good and the chipotle sauce was pretty pretty good. I would love that on a chicken bacon sandwich. Great sauce. Bread again amazing and soft. Service was great. Cashier and runner were kind and friendly. Not even a missing sauce, the staff is so nice and on top of everything, especially considering how busy they get during the lunch rush on weekdays. This place offer inside and outside dining . I order at the counter and receive a table number. Then proceed to choose your own table of your choice. Your food order will be brought to you. I ordered the Chimichurri Steak sandwich and the Turkey Cran sandwich. Both sandwiches were fresh and taste great. The salad that accompanied my sandwich was good as well. Made me want to try their salad on my next visit. The free cookie for signing up for their app was a bonus. My wife love the cookie that she only left me crumbs. My overall first experience was good. The resturant is new, clean and inviting. The staff are friendly and helpful. Bathroom are very clean that my wife doesn't mind using, even though she hardly ever uses public bathrooms.
